Have been here a few times we always enjoy a dessert great place if you also wanna have a little bite to eat of sweet or savory! The service is great! They are busy most of the time, but you will be seated pretty quickly. The atmosphere is pretty chill. The decor is good. The place is clean.
My friends surprised my fiancé and me with a birthday trip here to finally try the crepe cake because I've been wanting it forever, and it was such a fun experience. We all got the Thai tea crepe cake and it was so good. Definitely lived up to the hype. I also got the Thai tea, which was really good too. What made it even better was that one of my friends had secretly asked the staff if they could just bring our slices out with birthday candles, but they ended up going all out. They had the staff singing and played birthday music through the speakers. It was hilarious, unexpected, and honestly really sweet. It's a little pricey, but worth it for both the quality and the experience. There's plenty of indoor seating, the whole place has a really cool vibe inside, and we had such a great time. Definitely will be coming back :)
One of my go-to late night dessert spots in Berkeley. I really like coming here with friends when we want something sweet after dinner because the portions are pretty big and perfect for sharing. Their bingsu is honestly one of my favorites here it's shaved ice and it's super fluffy and creamy without feeling overly heavy. The presentation is also really cute and the desserts always come out looking so good. The service was fine overall The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the Thai tea lava toast. The flavor and sauce were good, but the toast itself was a little on the drier side and I wish it tasted a bit fresher. Overall though it's still one of my favorite late night dessert spots in the area.
My friends and I returned to U:Dessert Story after a couple of years since our last visit, and this time around somehow topped our last experience. We arrived late after dinner, but the cafe was still packed around 8 PM. We were fortunately able to be seated right away. We were celebrating a birthday, so we ordered a few different desserts to try - mango sticky rice bingsu, Japanese yuzu cheesecake, and chocolate truffle cake - with a couple of sparklers to mark the occasion. Minutes after we had placed our order, the server brought out our treats with much fanfare and a celebratory birthday song - and the whole restaurant joined in the singing and clapping. I've tried the mango sticky rice bingsu before - it was as tasty and refreshing as I remembered it. While decadent, the yuzu cheesecake was pleasantly tart and refreshing and paired well with the matcha ice cream. I tried a bite of the chocolate truffle cake - it was super decadent. The cafe continued to stay packed throughout the evening - the line even stretched out the door as we were leaving. I'm sure we'll be back to celebrate the next birthday soon.
My first visit and it was love at first bite. We stopped in toward the end of the day, so the wait was minimal which is always a win. The Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu easily earns top marks. A beautifully layered bowl of Korean snow ice topped with fresh mango, house-made crumble, sticky rice, mango purée, and a drizzle of condensed milk. The textures and flavors come together effortlessly; so light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Perfect for sharing, though you may not want to. The double fromage lychee cheesecake was pure bliss. Delicate, airy, and luxuriously creamy with a subtle lychee finish that keeps it feeling fresh. It strikes that rare balance of being rich without heaviness. Easily one of the better cheesecakes I've had in a while. Definitely a spot worth returning to.

Amazing dessert experience! The mango bingsu was fresh, creamy, and perfectly refreshing, while the brownie had a rich chocolate flavor and a great texture. Everything tasted delicious and was presented beautifully. Definitely a place I'd return to for dessert!

Visited around 7pm on a Sunday evening. There's only street parking so I had to circle the block a few times to find a spot. Unfortunately that's pretty normal in Berkeley but if you're on foot, the location is pretty great! Once inside, we were quickly given a table and ordered through the QR code. There was a good variety of Asian inspired crepe cakes, bingsu options, and drinks! I was torn between ordering a dessert or a drink and opted for the Matcha chocolate lava cake ($16) since I wasn't planning on consuming everything and wasn't sure whether a drink could be packed to go. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing. A lot of tables were filled and the decor was welcoming. There seemed to be a lot of people doing pick up orders as well. It took about 15-20 minutes for my dessert to arrive which felt a bit long but it wasn't a huge issue. The presentation of the food was lovely and I was happy that the taste was great as well. Cutting into the cake released a surprise stream of both molten chocolate and matcha. I had thought it would only be chocolate and the addition of the matcha cut through the sweetness of the molten chocolate. The matcha taste was not gritty or bitter. The cake was warm, moist, and not overly sweet. I liked the inclusion of the strawberries as a palette cleanser. The only drawback is that the matcha ice cream itself was just sweet and lacked any matcha flavor. Overall, I would return! The food options are enticing and the atmosphere was great. We were there for about an hour and we never felt pressured to hurry up and leave. Many of the surrounding tables were there for a while as well. It's a great place to catch up with friends while enjoying a bite after dinner. I hope to try the Oolong Lychee float in the future.
As someone who loves salted egg yolk, udessert is the only place who has created such a nice, unique salted egg yolk custard sauce with buttered toast. I love this dessert so much and I always crave it. The last time I came here I cried tears from how good it was LMAO Service was good. I'm so glad we came across U:Dessert in Berkeley. We've been to SF and this one was so much more airy. You scan the QR code menu and place your order. They came out fairly quickly and boy were they worth the wait. My mango sticky rice was light and its size made me think I'd be absolutely full after consuming it all. But it totally didn't. I loved all the extra so I had something with every bite. My hubby said the coffee was strong and robust (he had a latte) The croffle was chewy and crispy, the fruit was sweet and ripe. The cream was nice and sweet. He said it was easy to eat. Would definitely make the trip over the bridge to visit again.
I came here for dessert at the end of a date. The music and lighting and ambiance inside created a fun party vibe, which I very much enjoyed. The service was fast and the food was good! Once seated, we ordered through scanning the QR code and using the website portal for our table. I like that method especially when I can order fancy boba-like drinks that need me to specify sweetness level, ice level, any milk substitutes, etc. it's a very convenient way to order. We ordered the Ube and Mango snows, which were big enough for us to share, but we ordered one each because we wanted to be over the top. I think, in the future, we will just split one snow between two people. Ordering one a pop was also quite pricy. Two snows and two fancy drinks ran up a relatively high bill for a desert order; I definitely consider this place ti be on the pricier side. But that what you get with good location and ambiance. I highly recommend the tiramisu latte! It totally tasted and looked like tiramisu. It was a really fun drink.
Our dessert story, after having ramen from across the street, was very random. We actually wanted gelato but opted for U:Dessert Story. So, I guess didn't really have any expectations other than to just have a sweet treat. We were pleasantly surprised. You order from a QR code, but pay with the server. Only 1 server during our visit, and very busy. I know we're in the Bay Area, but these prices at U:Dessert Story are very high. Looking at the menu, I was just wondering how they're justifying these prices. Now, that said, the quality and how these desserts were crafted are very good. Thought can sense that (from the two we ordered), there was thought put into the dishes to make them work. The ingredients felt like they were well sourced, and what we ordered were very tasty. And as to the two we ordered, one was worth its price (barely), the other probably not. We ordered the Strawberry Bingsoo. I've had many bingsoos before, most were just okay. This one took me on another level of bingsoo that I haven't experienced. This was simply that good. The shaved ice could have been finer, but I think if it was, the toppings wouldn't have held up as well. Hints of yogurt and almond really makes this dish. The strawberry bingsoo, at $16, it was just worth its price. We also ordered the Oreo croffle. Well made. Ingredients came together with the toppings. Very enjoyable, but at $9 each, this one I didn't feel like was worth the price. Street parking may be tricky. Free on Sundays.

Best Thai dessert place in Berkeley! The serving is generous to share and you can add more toppings. The spicy ramyon is tomyum mama instant noodles with Seafood. You can add more noodles for $4 and more soup for $7 if you want to share with 3-4 adults. The highlight is the Bingsu, Thai tea flavor was amazing and the snow ice texture was so smooth and fine. Sticky rice, grass jelly, boba topping were our favorites. They get very popular so order quickly via qr code scanning at the table. food and dessert take quite some time to prepare. read more

Had a hankering for dessert and gave the ube ice a try. It's a massive portion and tastes great. Almost wish I brought someone to share it with. Service is quick and it seemed like a good hangout spot. Might even be able to use the outdoor seating if it were just a bit warmer. Prices seem a bit steep but I guess it's the novelty of it? Great dessert spot! Their menu has a variety of items and lots of great sharing options as well. The interior was spacious and service was super quick. You order by scanning the QR code. What we ordered: 1) Organize Chocolate Matcha Lava Cake: 5/5 it was super goo-ey and matcha profile was extremely prevalent! It was sweet but bitter at the same time, in a good way. It was decadent! 2) Volcano Bingsoo: 3/5 this was delicious and I loved that with every bite I was tasting and biting into something new. The only thing is I wish the bingsoo itself would've stayed frozen longer--it seemed to have melted extremely quick. Also, I feel like most of the dessert was just cream on top. my friend and I came ready to eat and their service was super quick! I loved the ube bingsu- I read all about the bingsu in the comments so I had to try! super worth it! it's not too sweet and it melts in your mouth (I was expecting a snow cone but this was a great surprise since I love ice cream) we also ordered the hojicha layered cake. I wasn't too big of a fan- I gave it a 5/10 but my friend gave it an 8/10. I think it just wasn't for my palette but if you like hojicha, it's def worth trying. Bingsu can be hard to find, and U Dessert Story does a solid job of filling that role. The Hojicha bingsu was flavorful, refreshing, and not too sweet. The size is a good shareable for 2-4 people depending on how ravenous for dessert you are, and though I didn't get to it this time, the menu looks like it's filled with lots of other yummy creations. Wow! Probably the best desert place I've been to. Every desert dish we ordered was a dance on my palette! The desert was new and innovative to me! And I didn't walk away feeling sick with high fructose syrupy stuff. I didn't read the label so I don't know what is in here but it's really good! The shaved ice infused with flavors got me wondering how they did this! The staff was very friendly and well mannered and trained. There was a like to get in. So make reservations but the staff do what they can to make everyone feel welcomed! It's a happy place for celebration! People came here to celebrate birthdays! Delicious desserts, but overpriced. The desserts here are exceptional, especially their Spicy Out Summer Bingsu, which has such a unique flavor, but the dishes are on the more expensive side with smaller portion sizes. I do appreciate that they offer vegan bingsu options and are accommodating for substitutions even when you order through the app, but the other bingsu flavors are a little bland and the price for their slices of crepe cakes are much too high. Haven't tried any of their snacks, but probably won't try again based on the price. read more

10/10 would come here again. There's a better chance to get seating here vs the Dessert Story in SF AND the desserts are the same quality. Food: Banoffee pie 5/5 Super lovely balance of earthy hojicha and the sweetness of banana and toffee. Absolute favorite. Ube biscoff shaved ice 5/5 Bit tough to eat neatly but very refreshing. The boba used for the shaved ice comes in a separate container and is served warm. There's a core of cookie crumble in the middle of the shaved ice which helps keep you motivated to finish the entire dessert. Signature house mochi waffle: 5/5 Served warm. The chew to the waffle is lovely. Pretty solid dish overall- mochi waffle comes with tons of toppings Service: Fast! You order via app at the table and they bring out the desserts when ready. I've been wanting to try the Bingsu here for a while and finally made our way to Berkeley. I made reservations but we were early and we were able to sit immediately but many arrived after us and by the time we were almost done they had a few people waiting to be seated. The Bingsu volcano was definitely video worthy. The chocolate powder with bits made it crunchy and once half way down I found some cereal flakes that made a nice texture along with a few bits of banana. Pretty pricey $22 for Bingsu and we also had a berry brick toast. I didn't try it but it looked good. read more

Took my parents here for dessert since my mom likes bingsoo. Even though the menu didn't have anything we were particularly craving that night, the desserts were still pretty good. The place itself is pretty small so there can be a pretty long wait, especially if you are in a large group. We got the ube bingsoo which was 8/10, and the matcha cheesecake with ice cream which was 9/10. Biscoff cookie and ube is such a good combination. I also appreciate that they put the condensed milk on the side. I couldn't taste that much of the ube flavor though. Tried to come here a few times and the line was long. Finally came on Wednesday 9pm and there was no line! Parking was easy since it was late already, but I imagine it's tough finding street parking during the daytime. It's super cute inside and it's actually a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The back has a row of tables! Now to the food. Everything was amazing! We ordered mango sticky rice bingsoo, honey brick toast, and Oreo croffle. The bingsoo was super light and fluffy. Pro tip, you don't need any add ons. We got a scoop of ice cream and we barely ate it. The brick toast was great dipped in the bingsoo to soften up the toast but it remains crunchy. Without it, it's a bit dry, even with the ice cream. The Oreo croffle was really good as well. Just the right amount of Oreo and not too sweet. Would definitely come back again! read more

Been having random cravings for shaved ice and decided to come here spur of the moment on a Sunday afternoon (though it felt very late so basically I came here for dinner). And for "dinner" I had the seasonal Ube Bingsoo. After this I've decided that: 1) I like ube 2) I like bingsoo 3) $22 for a bowl of frozen shaved ice seems like it's expensive (see prior reviews about being middle aged and no longer having a concept of money and how much things cost) 4) It seems great to share with your date .... but my husband confirmed for me that he would not share this with his man friends. They'd each get their own. I don't think I would come here every weekend, but if I had friends in town visiting or maybe a teenager visiting - this is where I'd bring them. read more

I took so many photos of that choco matcha lava cake because it was as beautiful as it looked in the advertisement !! I've never had a chocolate lava cake with MATCHA for the filling, it was incredible and so beautiful!! There was also this cool cookie crunch underneath the scoop of matcha ice cream that was such a lovely match-up of all textures and temperatures of this dessert! I love it so much I would come here and be tempted to order it again if not for the fact it looks like they have so many other delicious options in the menu. I am in love with matcha desserts so I'd be interested in trying some of their drinks in the future and their bingus look SO amazing too!! Excited to revisit again!! The service was nice! I wish I got my waiter's name to give him a shout out! He was quick to attend to us and take us to our seats. Was craving brick toast and stumbled upon this spot. We ordered the lychee cheesecake + mango sticky rice toast. I enjoyed the lightness of the lychee cheesecake and how it wasn't overly sweet with just an essence of lychees. Now onto the brick toast, the reason why I came here... it was like a crouton, no chew whatsoever, just straight crunch. Came here Sunday night to catch up with friends. U: Dessert Story is not only a dessert selling restaurant. They also provide savory and alcoholic drinks. The savory part is only French fries, wings, and an appetizer platter. Alcoholic drinks are either a cocktail or beer from what I saw on the menu. Let's skip that, moving on towards what we ordered. A newly added menu dessert: Ube Biscoff Bingsu. Wow, the ube was authentic and the mixed flavor of the Biscoff cookie with the Ube was great! I'm surprised this bingsu doesn't melt like the others. Its form and shape is intact which makes it more pleasing to enjoy. I ordered a Milo Cheese Einspanner. I know what you're thinking but this was a savory and sweet drink. A perfect balance to enjoy the drink if you are not looking for a sweet drink. You order through a kiosk code given on your table you are seated at and pay at the end by calling your server over. Haven't been to Berkeley in a while and I was craving a sweet treat so here I am. We ordered the soft bread with pandan fondue and the cake sampler. Like its name suggests, the bread is so soft and fluffy. It goes really well with the pandan fondue which is warm and creamy. The cake sampler was interesting. The cakes featured from left to right is a double fromage honey yuzu cheesecake, double fromage lychee cheesecake, and uji matcha basque burnt cheesecake. All of the cakes were pretty good. Can't really go wrong with any of them. The service here was decent. Our waitress was really nice. To order, you scan a QR code on the table and they bring the food to your table. The decor of the restaurant was bright and pretty. Regarding parking here, the parking situation here in Berkeley is usually pretty rough. Luckily we were able to find street parking. We visited U Dessert Story last Thursday while in town for a concert, and overall, it was a great experience! The interior decorations were lovely, especially the color scheme and the hanging greenery, which really set a cozy vibe. Despite a few other customers being in the store, it wasn't overly loud, which was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the unique ordering system with QR codes on each table, allowing us to place orders from our phones and add them to a tab. Pretty neat! Here's a breakdown of what we tried: Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu - 4.5/5 A bit pricier than other bingsu places we've been to, but the portion size was generous. It came with condensed milk, mango puree, and sticky rice on the side. The mango was fresh, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. The only downside for me was the nut crumbles on top, which I didn't care for, but that's just personal preference. Overall, it was delicious. Thai Tea Crepe Cake - 4/5 Much bigger than I expected! The cake itself was light and decadent, and I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet either. I didn't really taste the Thai tea flavor in the whipped cream or crepes. The Thai tea sauce that came with it, though, had a strong, creamy flavor. For me, it was a bit too intense, but I think thai tea lovers would really enjoy it! I will preface this review with the following: I am not a sweets person. However, the cakes at U Dessert Story are delectable for a non-sweets person like myself! So I decided to surprise a cake lover with a slice of the YOUNG COCONUT PANDAN CREPE CAKE which is stacked with 18 layers of organic coconut pandan, with a side of homemade young coconut sauce. I do not usually seek out crepes, but this crepe cake is one of my favorite desserts and I am surprised I don't get it more often. The price might be a limiting factor since it is a $15 slice of cake. Yes, SLICE! But what a delicious slice it is, to which I can devour it in mere seconds. Only this time, it was shared with the aforementioned cake lover, who I trust to be a much more baked goods and sweets enthusiast than myself. She and I both agreed that the young coconut sauce had a savory sweetness to it, which is unique. I enjoyed the sauce more than she did, but we both agreed the crepe cake itself was better than Lady M's. She noted that the sauce and the young coconut had an unusual texture (two different types of "softs"), but I enjoyed it. This was a to-go order so I did not experience the service, besides the friendly employee who made sure the cake would be okay unrefrigerated for about an hour or so in the car. Very refreshing dessert with mango, sticky rice on the side along with condensed milk and mango puree. Seems like less mango pieces than they used to have but the mango is fresh. $22 - would probably like a little more mango than the puree. The size was good for two adults and a kid to share. We were so full from dinner so we only got two desserts The Thai tea 18 layer crepe cake and Thai tea lava toast was anaaaazinnnng!!! Crepe cake was so rich and creamy and the toast was so toasted to perfection with the right amount of sweetness. I really love the Thai tea flavors here including the ice cream! Ive had a lot of Thai tea everything but nothing compares to this place! We went on a Saturday late evening, an hour prior to closing and it was packed but we were seated immediately. Service is quick and staff are friendly. There is a QR menu at the table- easy to order. Street parking. We were losing their Christmas decor and Christmas playlist- very festive. The customer service was great. We were able to be seated as soon as we arrived (on a Friday night). After being seated we ordered and talked for a while. This is the perfect place to socialize over dessert. The dessert menu has a good amount of options so you can't go wrong coming here. read more

I was so excited to finally try the bingsu at this spot! It's a super fun, sit down vibe inside with everyone enjoying their desserts and drinks. I got the classic mango sticky rice bingsu and it was so refreshing and not too sweet! The mango was ripe and all of the toppings were amazing. It is also definitely enough for 2 or even 3 people to share. I have also had the boba here and it was incredible as well! read more
