Have been here a few times we always enjoy a dessert great place if you also wanna have a little bite to eat of sweet or savory! The service is great! They are busy most of the time, but you will be seated pretty quickly. The atmosphere is pretty chill. The decor is good. The place is clean.
My friends surprised my fiancé and me with a birthday trip here to finally try the crepe cake because I've been wanting it forever, and it was such a fun experience. We all got the Thai tea crepe cake and it was so good. Definitely lived up to the hype. I also got the Thai tea, which was really good too. What made it even better was that one of my friends had secretly asked the staff if they could just bring our slices out with birthday candles, but they ended up going all out. They had the staff singing and played birthday music through the speakers. It was hilarious, unexpected, and honestly really sweet. It's a little pricey, but worth it for both the quality and the experience. There's plenty of indoor seating, the whole place has a really cool vibe inside, and we had such a great time. Definitely will be coming back :)
One of my go-to late night dessert spots in Berkeley. I really like coming here with friends when we want something sweet after dinner because the portions are pretty big and perfect for sharing. Their bingsu is honestly one of my favorites here it's shaved ice and it's super fluffy and creamy without feeling overly heavy. The presentation is also really cute and the desserts always come out looking so good. The service was fine overall The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the Thai tea lava toast. The flavor and sauce were good, but the toast itself was a little on the drier side and I wish it tasted a bit fresher. Overall though it's still one of my favorite late night dessert spots in the area.
My friends and I returned to U:Dessert Story after a couple of years since our last visit, and this time around somehow topped our last experience. We arrived late after dinner, but the cafe was still packed around 8 PM. We were fortunately able to be seated right away. We were celebrating a birthday, so we ordered a few different desserts to try - mango sticky rice bingsu, Japanese yuzu cheesecake, and chocolate truffle cake - with a couple of sparklers to mark the occasion. Minutes after we had placed our order, the server brought out our treats with much fanfare and a celebratory birthday song - and the whole restaurant joined in the singing and clapping. I've tried the mango sticky rice bingsu before - it was as tasty and refreshing as I remembered it. While decadent, the yuzu cheesecake was pleasantly tart and refreshing and paired well with the matcha ice cream. I tried a bite of the chocolate truffle cake - it was super decadent. The cafe continued to stay packed throughout the evening - the line even stretched out the door as we were leaving. I'm sure we'll be back to celebrate the next birthday soon.
My first visit and it was love at first bite. We stopped in toward the end of the day, so the wait was minimal which is always a win. The Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu easily earns top marks. A beautifully layered bowl of Korean snow ice topped with fresh mango, house-made crumble, sticky rice, mango purée, and a drizzle of condensed milk. The textures and flavors come together effortlessly; so light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Perfect for sharing, though you may not want to. The double fromage lychee cheesecake was pure bliss. Delicate, airy, and luxuriously creamy with a subtle lychee finish that keeps it feeling fresh. It strikes that rare balance of being rich without heaviness. Easily one of the better cheesecakes I've had in a while. Definitely a spot worth returning to.

Amazing dessert experience! The mango bingsu was fresh, creamy, and perfectly refreshing, while the brownie had a rich chocolate flavor and a great texture. Everything tasted delicious and was presented beautifully. Definitely a place I'd return to for dessert!
Visited around 7pm on a Sunday evening. There's only street parking so I had to circle the block a few times to find a spot. Unfortunately that's pretty normal in Berkeley but if you're on foot, the location is pretty great! Once inside, we were quickly given a table and ordered through the QR code. There was a good variety of Asian inspired crepe cakes, bingsu options, and drinks! I was torn between ordering a dessert or a drink and opted for the Matcha chocolate lava cake ($16) since I wasn't planning on consuming everything and wasn't sure whether a drink could be packed to go. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing. A lot of tables were filled and the decor was welcoming. There seemed to be a lot of people doing pick up orders as well. It took about 15-20 minutes for my dessert to arrive which felt a bit long but it wasn't a huge issue. The presentation of the food was lovely and I was happy that the taste was great as well. Cutting into the cake released a surprise stream of both molten chocolate and matcha. I had thought it would only be chocolate and the addition of the matcha cut through the sweetness of the molten chocolate. The matcha taste was not gritty or bitter. The cake was warm, moist, and not overly sweet. I liked the inclusion of the strawberries as a palette cleanser. The only drawback is that the matcha ice cream itself was just sweet and lacked any matcha flavor. Overall, I would return! The food options are enticing and the atmosphere was great. We were there for about an hour and we never felt pressured to hurry up and leave. Many of the surrounding tables were there for a while as well. It's a great place to catch up with friends while enjoying a bite after dinner. I hope to try the Oolong Lychee float in the future.

As someone who loves salted egg yolk, udessert is the only place who has created such a nice, unique salted egg yolk custard sauce with buttered toast. I love this dessert so much and I always crave it. The last time I came here I cried tears from how good it was LMAO Service was good. I'm so glad we came across U:Dessert in Berkeley. We've been to SF and this one was so much more airy. You scan the QR code menu and place your order. They came out fairly quickly and boy were they worth the wait. My mango sticky rice was light and its size made me think I'd be absolutely full after consuming it all. But it totally didn't. I loved all the extra so I had something with every bite. My hubby said the coffee was strong and robust (he had a latte) The croffle was chewy and crispy, the fruit was sweet and ripe. The cream was nice and sweet. He said it was easy to eat. Would definitely make the trip over the bridge to visit again.
I came here for dessert at the end of a date. The music and lighting and ambiance inside created a fun party vibe, which I very much enjoyed. The service was fast and the food was good! Once seated, we ordered through scanning the QR code and using the website portal for our table. I like that method especially when I can order fancy boba-like drinks that need me to specify sweetness level, ice level, any milk substitutes, etc. it's a very convenient way to order. We ordered the Ube and Mango snows, which were big enough for us to share, but we ordered one each because we wanted to be over the top. I think, in the future, we will just split one snow between two people. Ordering one a pop was also quite pricy. Two snows and two fancy drinks ran up a relatively high bill for a desert order; I definitely consider this place ti be on the pricier side. But that what you get with good location and ambiance. I highly recommend the tiramisu latte! It totally tasted and looked like tiramisu. It was a really fun drink.
Our dessert story, after having ramen from across the street, was very random. We actually wanted gelato but opted for U:Dessert Story. So, I guess didn't really have any expectations other than to just have a sweet treat. We were pleasantly surprised. You order from a QR code, but pay with the server. Only 1 server during our visit, and very busy. I know we're in the Bay Area, but these prices at U:Dessert Story are very high. Looking at the menu, I was just wondering how they're justifying these prices. Now, that said, the quality and how these desserts were crafted are very good. Thought can sense that (from the two we ordered), there was thought put into the dishes to make them work. The ingredients felt like they were well sourced, and what we ordered were very tasty. And as to the two we ordered, one was worth its price (barely), the other probably not. We ordered the Strawberry Bingsoo. I've had many bingsoos before, most were just okay. This one took me on another level of bingsoo that I haven't experienced. This was simply that good. The shaved ice could have been finer, but I think if it was, the toppings wouldn't have held up as well. Hints of yogurt and almond really makes this dish. The strawberry bingsoo, at $16, it was just worth its price. We also ordered the Oreo croffle. Well made. Ingredients came together with the toppings. Very enjoyable, but at $9 each, this one I didn't feel like was worth the price. Street parking may be tricky. Free on Sundays.
I was so excited to finally try the bingsu at this spot! It's a super fun, sit down vibe inside with everyone enjoying their desserts and drinks. Another one for the memories. Tonight we ordered the Volcano bingsoo and the Honey Brick Toast! I had a huge sweet tooth for the Volcano Bingsoo with an added scoop of ice cream was so delicious. We were seated quickly at around 5pm and our server checked up on us often and was quick to refill our waters throughout the dinner/dessert. Volcano Bingsoo- If you love chocolate. THIS IS FOR YOU! There is brownie brittle on top with a layer of whipped cream which pairs nicely together with the shredded bingsoo. My favorite surprise was the cornflakes on the bottom of the bingsoo which added that extra crunch because we ate the brittle so fast. read more

This spot totally delivered--every item we tried was a hit. We had the young coconut pandan crepe cake, cappuccino with Equator coffee, and the volcano bingsu. The crepe cake was delicate, creamy, and had that subtle pandan flavor that wasn't overpowering--super refreshing and not too sweet. The cappuccino was on point: strong but smooth with perfectly textured foam, and the Equator coffee gave it a rich, balanced depth. You can tell they take their coffee seriously here. And the showstopper? The volcano bingsu. It came out literally smoking--tons of visual flair but the flavors held up too. Loaded with toppings, textures, and a generous drizzle of condensed milk. It's a fun experience and delicious from the first bite to the last. Cozy ambiance, friendly service, and everything came out beautifully plated. This story starts off sweet with a definite happy ending! There's no doubt about it that you'll be so mesmerized by all of their photogenic Asian inspired desserts, you won't know how to start. As for me I just went all in! I ordered their old Milo cheese drink that came with condensed milk, Oreo crumbs and cheese foam. I know I was going to pay for it later but worth it. Next was the mango sticky rice Bingsu that came in a tray with condensed milk and mango sauce on the side so you can add as you go. My last dessert that I ordered was cheesecake sampler and this beauty came with three flavors of your choice. Everything was amazing and definitely eye pleasing. The aesthetics are also really cool and the service was good and great since two servers were taking care of us. I seriously can't wait to come back and explore more of their menu. WHEN: Tue @9pm Love that this dessert spot opens late until 11pm. My party of 3 were seated right away, and you can either order from your phone or from a staff member. Because we were full from dinner, we decided to share one time: UBE BISCOFF BINGSU - $20 Bingsu is a milk-based Korean shaved ice dessert, and it tastes so smooth. It's light and refreshing, and you really taste the wonderful ube flavor. It comes with Boba and Condensed milk on the side to pour over as toppings. The boba was warm and sweet from the brown sugar, and I enjoyed it eating alone! The biscoff topping gave this dessert a wonderful texture and who doesn't like that cookie? Highly recommend the coconut pandan crepe cake--not too sweet and stunning presentation. Mango sticky rice bingsoo was okay, only the mango chunks and sticky rice stood out. Don't recommend the chocolate matcha lava cake. Pricey but aesthetic desserts if you want to treat yourself. Come with more people so you can try more things on the menu. Insanely overpriced, but I guess it's downtown Berkeley . We got the chocolate matcha lava cake and the volcano bingsoo. My friends said the lava cake was super super chocolatey and quite sweet. The matcha ice cream also melted quite quickly. The volcano bingsoo had such a cool presentation with the dried ice on top! But only the top layer had ingredients... they could've used more layers of flavor underneath (ex: layer of bingsoo, layer of chocolate powder, another layer of bingsoo, then choco powder, etc) This place was so crowded on a Friday night around 9pm!! The Mango Bingsu, was not what I expected it to be, Mangoes were fresh and the way the shaved ice cream just melts in your mouth, an experience you have to try for yourself!! The service here was so BOMB! When we walked in, we were greeted and seated, had the best seat in the room because of the lighting and in my pictures you will see why. the Ambiance was so welcoming and had a very cute setting, definitely an experience! U-Dessert I have many fond memories of this place. It was a beautiful, vibrant, and unique dessert spot, attracting a diverse crowd of energetic college students and families enjoying time together over good drinks, fancy cakes, or bingsoo. The line would always stretch out the door and around the corner. I visited with my family, friends, and or with my college-age son. It was such a treat that we kept coming back again and again. Unfortunately, all of this has changed. During my last few visits, the place looked tired and was quite empty each time. Since Mango Bingsoo has always been my favorite, I decided to order it to compare with my previous experiences, hoping it would return to its former glory. But it consistently disappointed me. The unripe, tasteless, hard mango cubes, the over-microwaved, chewy, pasty pandan rice that no longer resembled rice, the rancid nuts topping of pandan rice "glue", and the sloppy presentation. This would not be something I want to serve to my guests. It certainly was not worth $25 per order (plus tips). The tips, however, were deserved, as the young lady serving was always attentive and kind. It's understandable that with the rising costs, businesses need to adjust their prices, but that should come with a commitment to maintaining the quality that keeps customers coming back. I tried 4 times the same item before I finally decided to write this review. I hope the management will take note and make the necessary improvements, but until then, it's tough to justify returning when the experience just isn't what it used to be. read more

People eat with their eyes first, but they also eat with their stomachs, so it's not enough for food to just look pretty. Luckily, that's not an issue at U Dessert Story because everything I've eaten here has been a feast for the eyes and the stomach. My friends and I went on a Saturday night after 9 PM, and there was a short wait. We got the Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu and a slice of the Double Fromage Honey Yuzu Cheesecake. The bingsu had a nice sweetness that wasn't overpowering, and all of the textures from the mango puree to the crumble melded together nicely. I don't normally like cheesecakes, but I had to give this one a try because the flavor combo sounded interesting. I'm glad I gave it a try because the cheesecake was on the lighter side and was creamy without being too rich. The honey yuzu was a perfect balance of sweet and tart. Beautiful presentations of food. It's also good tasting so they can justify the high prices. Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu - everything about it was right on. Finely shaved snow ice with mango puree and chunks, condensed milk, sticky rice and crumble. Large enough to share with 4 people, more fun this way. The Ube Biscoff features deliciously fluffy shaved ice with rich purple ube flavor, perfectly complemented by crunchy Biscoff cookies and sweet condensed milk. The Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu offers a refreshing twist on the Thai classic with light shaved ice, fresh mango pieces, and authentic sticky rice. I'm 100% serious when I say I would hop on a plane to go to NorCal again just to eat at U Dessert Story. My friends and I came here after dinner on Saturday night. The place was pretty packed already when we got there, but we surprisingly only had to wait about 5 minutes before getting seated. Signature Ube Mochi Waffle: 7/10. I thought the waffle was yummy and so fun to eat. I didn't realize there was boba on top of the waffle at first and ended up choking on a few boba with my first bite, and I think that probably messed up my impression LOL, but the rest of my friends absolutely adored this dessert. Mango Sticky Rice Honey Brick Toast: 200/10. Oh my god was this the best thing ever. The freshness of the mango on top, cool creaminess from the mango ice cream, warm chewiness of the mini brick toasts, and dash of coconut crumble created such a wonderful flavor and texture explosion I cannot put into words. The side of sticky rice was also super delicious and had the perfect ratio of sweetness and chew. I also wasn't actually planning on eating much of the bread but it was so flavorful and buttery I could not stop. This entire dessert was the foodie equivalent of crack. I will say that the price is a bit steep for dessert IMO but not unreasonable for the dining experience and unique high quality desserts. I'm going to be thinking about this brick toast for weeks. We ordered the Thai tea dessert toast to share between 2 people. Portions are very large and the "lava" part is extremely sweet, so I would recommend splitting this between at least 3 people. While the cafe setup is cute and cozy and their dessert satisfies sugar cravings, there was a burnt plastic note in the toast that both my friend and I tasted which was likely from the air fryer being used. Besides that one issue, I would visit again and try another dessert on their menu. read more

In a nutshell; great place, sooo much traffic and people. I think it's rather unfair to the business for me to give it a 4 for how busy and limited indoor seating they may have especially since they've got some really good stuff. But because they're rather busy, and if you happen to seat next to the open door on a rather windy cold day, and you wanted to be indoors to shield away from the weather yet you can't since the door has to be open to accommodate for pick up and awaiting guests, it rather sucks. Now that out of the way, try their stuff, it's great, drinks are great, food are great, and yeah would go again and hoping it'll not be too busy next time I visit. read more

Blue Lychee ($7.50): I ordered the Blue Lychee drink at this Berkeley location. It comes with lychee popping boba and 2 actual lychee unseeded which is a nice touch. I do wish it also had lychee boba chunks too. They drink was refreshing and it reminded me of "Yakult" probiotic asian yogurt drink. I was hoping for it to be more fruity but it was nice twist. For the price, i don't think it's worth it but it was fun. read more

There's always room for dessert in my books! My companion and I had been to U :Dessert Story in the city and wanted to try their Berkeley location. This spot is all about the experience--well-lit, modern, and inviting. The perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth with plenty of tables, bar seating, and casual service. The workers are friendly but the service took awhile at times. Their desserts are aesthetically pleasing with sweet and savory Asian-inspired bites and drinks for all! We chose to share the Mango Sticky Rice Toast. The toast was present in a box--thick honey toast, light refreshing mango pieces, and delightful sweet sides to pair with it. We both agreed the portion sizes are generous but desserts are pricey. I found U :Dessert to be an indulgent spot with ravishing yet costly desserts. We decided to come here for dessert after dinner since we love their bingsu. Luckily there wasn't a wait when we arrived closer to 7:00pm on a Saturday. They also have outside seating available but it was getting chilly so we sat inside. I love their decor since it's so whimsical. We ordered their most popular - Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu. The ice was soft and the sticky rice was extremely tasty. I did wish the mangos were softer because a lot of the pieces were hard and not ripe enough. We also ordered the Double Fromage Honey Yuzu Cheesecake to go. It's very creamy and taste more like mango/pineapple vs yuzu. It's also on the pricier side since a small slice is $14. read more

But they also had a bundle set so you can try a bit of everything too so we couldn't help it and had to get the bundle with the ube waffle, matcha lava cake and volcano bingsoo. There was also a bundle with tteokbokki that I wanted to try but I knew it was too much for us to finish. Luckily I went with my gut feeling and we went with just this one bundle. The ube waffle was sweet, but very well balanced with the fruits and ice cream. I liked it a lot. The matcha lava cake was definitely too sweet, but the matcha lava pour was so satisfying to watch. It also comes with matcha ice cream, which helped with the sweetness issue. The volcano bingsoo was everything I was craving. Very light in flavor but refreshing and enjoyable. The presentations is also amazing with the dry ice pouring out. My only problem with it is that it melts way too fast. As soon as I scooped it up into my spoon, the bingsoo becomes liquid immediately. The blue lychee drink was my favorite from the order. It was a slight hint of tartness, but very light and sweet. It was refreshing to have on such a hot day. read more

A solid dessert place after your main meal. U:Dessert Story has so many dessert options to choose from with so much variety. I would recommend getting a few desserts you find interesting and sharing with friends since the portion sizes are large. I tried the Spicy Out Summer Bingsu and the Honey Brick Toast. The Spicy Out Summer Bingsu was okay. In my opinion, the spicy honey and lychee flavors didn't really go together and made for a pretty nasty tasting dessert. If you take off the honey, however, you're left with a pretty decent tasting lychee bingsu. The Honey Brick Toast, on the other hand, was delicious. A nice subtle sweetness from the bread and a burst of flavor from the ice cream and fresh fruit on top. I would recommend trying the Honey Brick Toast. It's a little hard to get the servers' attention and it took them awhile to check us out, but I know that they're just trying their best. This was a lot! A lot of awesome. Our first experience with Korean snow ice. After dinner we wanted dessert and U :Dessert Story was near. Little did we know what we stumbled on. Navigating the menu was eased by help from our waiter. There was so much I didn't recognize but sounded amazing. The snow ice portions can be shared. Dinner, shakes, crepe cake, teas are all available. The service was fast paced but friendly and not hurried. Inside was modern and bright. The crowd in Berkeley was young. Food (4.2/5): I've only tried the Hojicha Bannoffee - really no complaints about the taste, I think it's just a bit pricey even for Bay Areaz The plating was aesthetic, but the average / slightly above average taste does not justify the cost. Maybe other dishes are more standout in taste. Service (4.5/5): I came here with my partner, and the server was very nice. You get seated and they serve / refill water & take your order then bring you food. Ambiance (4.4/5): I enjoyed the ambiance of this place.
