I've only tried the bingsoo here and would not recommend it. All of their desserts looked and sounded good from the menu, so maybe I just picked the wrong thing... We ordered a small mango sticky rice bingsoo. Turns out they offer small sizes but you can't order through their normal app that they tell you to use. It was served in a plastic cup instead of a bowl which was already a disappointment... Made it much harder to evenly eat the ice and toppings. The sticky rice was served on the side so I'm not really sure if it's supposed to be a topping or something else. The ice was basically flavorless, I expected it to be fruit flavored but I think it was yogurt flavored? Or maybe just plain ice cause I couldn't taste much from it... This one is a chocolate milk snow ice with Nutella, cheese foam, pistachios and brownie bits. It might sound overly sweet but it definitely isn't! I was really excited to try this place because they had bingsu, which is Korean shaved ice; a super popular dessert in South Korea where I lived recently for a year. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake Greek yogurt bingsoo. We were able to drizzle what seemed like condensed milk over it. Overall, I would rate this 3/5 stars. It was good, not bad. My siblings and friend enjoyed it, but no one had the real bingsu like I did in Korea from a chain called Sulbing. The bingsus there were fantastic. What was the highlight of this place for me was the young coconut pandan crepe cake! It was DIVINE!!! It's unlike anything I've ever had and it was so soft and delightful. If you like the coconut and pandan flavors like I do, get this! It's pricey at around $13 for a slice of cake, but that's around what other places in the Bay Area charge, too. The crepe cake has 20 layers. My sister mentioned that she would love this cake for her birthday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get it for her because it's in August and I will be out of the country again. I love how cute this place is! It's very aesthetic and clean. There are two lines before you enter the store: one for dining in and one for deliveries. We went in the mid-afternoon on a Saturday and it wasn't that busy. Food quality: We ordered a Thai Tea Lava Toast ($15.00), Ube Milk Tea ($7.00) and a Mango Milk Tea ($7.00). I honestly think I paid way too much for these. If I could rank all of these, I loved the Thai Tea Toast more than the two milk teas mainly because both milk teas tasted so artificial. The Ube Milk Tea tastes way different than how Ube usually tastes (not sure how to describe it other than super sweet even though I had it at the lowest sweetness) and the Mango Milk Tea tasted like a mango hi-chew, unlike the regular fruit mango taste. The Thai Tea Toast was great though! It was served on a bamboo board with fruit, candied walnuts, and slivered almonds on the side all drizzled with honey. I loved the presentation and how it tasted as well. The toast itself is cut open and hollowed out with small cubes of toast and thai ice cream set on top. In terms of taste, it tasted quite sweet, probably from the amount of condensed milk. Like you can taste the butter and the condensed milk all over the bread - diabetes but super good!! I would come back for this even though the price tag is a bit steep. Service: You order through a QR code linked to your table through their website! You'll need to input your credit card info there then you'll get your food soon after. Pretty neat technology! Someone will then come to drop off your food at your table a bit after. I thought it was really nice they came by to give us our drinks while we waited for the toast. Parking: There's parking on the sides of the streets outside! The interior decor is lovely and compliments the nature of a dessert cafe well - almost like an enchanted forest? Fairly spacious seating indoors. But due to COVID I had dined outdoors. I had the double fromage lychee cheesecake - the lusciousness of the cake was delightful as was a soft centered layer of cream cheese that was velvet and not overpowering. However the concept of having ice cream as a garnish or a component of the concept of the dish was a little confusing to me. Was I supposed to have the ice cream before or with the cake? It was delicate on its own but I wasn't sure if it worked conceptually. The blend of soft white cream puree was perfect with the lightness of the lychee fruit. I also ordered the mango sticky rice toast. The portion was huge even for two people. The eclectic presentation of the dish was pleasing to digest with the eyes but slightly overwhelming for the palate. Growing up with a lot of dessert stores near my house, I was a little disappointed when I came to Berkeley. All we had was CREAM and an almost excessive amount of boba shops. Imagine doing FONDUE of all things with the boys. Unparalleled experience and 100% one for the books. Overall, the bread paired very well with the cream sauce. The warmth of the sauce really gave off a comfort food vibe that fit perfectly with the occasion. This place is #1 by the size of the desserts in my whole sweet tooth history:) Recommend to consider that and come here with friends or significant other and share the pleasure without overeating. Can say that the quality and taste of their desserts are well known and a bit high prices don't stop the constant flow of sweet lovers. You can see the line at the entrance in any time of the day. Although they almost always have free seats at the bar which could be an option. I tried Thai Tea Lava toast - this was really entertaining experience:) I really liked the taste and the combo of textures (crunchy+creamy+sweet+neutral), the only thing that I'd added is a sour note (maybe berries) that could make the flavor palette more diverse. It was hard to decide at first, but my friend and I ultimately narrowed it down to the Mango Sticky Rice Bingsoo and the Coconut Crepe Cake. We absolutely loved it! The bingsoo came with condensed milk, mango sauce and sticky rice on the side. It was probably my favorite dish because I didn't feel like I was overpowered by any sweetness. The crepe cake was delicious as well but it was a bit heavier on the cream and had a strong egg taste in the cake itself. While I'm usually a dessert person, I highly recommend people visit this place with friends so they can share the dishes. I definitely couldn't have eaten all this alone. :') -- AMBIANCE -- I loved the aesthetics of the place! For outdoor dining, they have wooden picnic tables and stringed lightbulbs above. My go-to Asian dessert spot in the east bay. I've tried the bingsoo, the chocolate matcha lava cake and this time I got the croffle with Oreo and strawberries. The Croffle had a coating of sugar that melted so it gave a nice crust to it. Both toppings were great.
