I made a check in online under my husband name, upon arrival they said their was issues on his account (from a previous checkout) and said we couldn't pick up. An account we settled completely and paid in its entirety. Since we were in a rush I requested them to rent it under my name and they told me it wasn't possible because I had already came in with him. Ridiculous waste of time. This U-Haul sucks gigantic monkey balls. First off, Lakieta, cut the attitude. Not sure why they have an employee who's visibly and audibly uninterested in being helpful or a good employee. Says a lot about management. This location literally made me not want to rent uhauls anymore, let alone from this location. And I've rented over 10 uhauls this year alone. The only redeeming quality this location has is its owner Rene is a nice guy. That's it. The amount of shadiness that goes on at this location just amazes & surprises me how they are still in business. I made a reservation online for a truck rental. When I arrived I had issues checking in so a representative ( girl by the make up Clakala;name tag) came out to help me, she looked at my reservation and then said I couldn't check in cause I didn't have the added insurance I had declined., she said it was MANDATORY in order to rent. I argued the misinformation she was giving me and compared with website , she still refused to process the rental. I then heard her say the same to another gentlemen next to me. I called uhaul and complained, sure enough they confirmed with me there are NO MANDATORY insurance/extra protection charges. They helped me create a complain, reassure me I didn't have to paid for it. BUYER / RENTER BEWARE! You will for sure end up with additional fees if you do business with this location. Girl could of done her job and actually try to sell me on it by maybe mentioned pros and cons or benefits, but she feels and knows she can get away with taking advantage of people. Be careful with scammers!! We rented a uhaul today and when my dad returned it, they tried to charge him FIFTY DOLLARS for supposedly gas shortage. My dad is an elderly man so they were probably trying to take advantage of him but my father is a smart man and had a receipt showing the gas reading that was given to him in the morning before he started driving the truck. My husband and I were referred to this location by the staff at the Southern Ave location. This UHaul was very well stocked. We got there around 4:30pm and it is a Tuesday so that could be another reason why. We were able to rent the tow dolly and received excellent assistance from Jose and Ciklalie Cabrera. They both made sure that before we left the signals on the dolly worked. When my husband needed a tool to a repair on his wiring for the the signals to work Jose went back and forth getting the tools that my husband needed. They were awesome to be so young to be honest. It almost seems like most young people are prone to give bad service. Parking is shared with the UHaul vehicles but it was plenty available although they were well stocked. read more

It's been awhile since I've had to rent moving equipment, 9 years to be exact and I have to admit, U-Haul is up to speed with offering online access. Created a profile and did my logistics as to what was my best pick up point and drop off. With my short trip from South Los Angeles in a section that is county maintained to Bell Gardens, U-Haul at Atlantic in the city of Cudahy would be my staging point. Reservation process was super easy checking off what you need and don't need. Be aware, by default, certain items are added to your rental like moving boxes, dolly, furniture wraps and so on. Even though you don't get charged, you'll notice a increase in rental when you're ready to reserve. You can either uncheck or click on link "no thank you" that's discreetly on top of page. A confirmation email is generated and sent with the opportunity to use "express check in". This is optional and is used to eliminate any forms on day of pick up. They basically want to know where rental truck is going and delivering plus what are your plans for dropping off. Aside from that, a few disclosures and you're good to go. All that extra work paid off on morning of pick up, swiped my card, signed off and my document forms given. Did a brief walk around of vehicle, looked inside cargo space, verified existing gas levels. 26' Moving truck (GMC) 4 bedroom capacity. $39.95 + 0.99 per mile Inside dimensions: 26'5" x 7'8" x 8'3" (LxWxH) Door opening: 7'3" x 6'10" (WxH) Deck height: 2'9" Length: 23'5" EZ-Load Ramp Condition of truck was not pristine, it showed age plus wear and tear. Steering wheel outer vinyl finish was exhausted showing internal component material, large labels showing important reminders, full mirrors with added convex mirrors both driver and passenger, high power AC unit (very cold), after market AM/FM receiver, automatic transmission and a heavy coil seating bench for 3 passengers. It's a work truck and did exactly what it's designed to do. This particular location is a full rental center offering many services and products. -Electrical -Hitch mounting -Propane -Moving supplies (everything) -Auto accessories -Coed restroom decorated nicely with home appeal. -After hours drop off with key box Owner operated franchise business. My personal thoughts on this location, I have no gripes. Read your contract thoroughly and understand your agreement you're about to enter, it's a legal binding contract you agree by signing off. Horrible customer service. Every time I call (with simple questions specific to my situation) and I'm always instantly put on hold. One day I waited exactly 20 minutes before giving up and just drove over there. Right now I'm currently at 10 minutes and 49 seconds and still waiting (hit 15 minutes and they finally picked up). I've never had local businesses put me on hold for so long. Also when my uBox showed up, I was told it was in and that they were open until 8pm, I asked them if I'd have access to the box that night and was told yes. After driving over an hour out of my way and waiting in line for 30 minutes, I was told that they didn't have anyone qualified to get it out for me and that I'd have to make an appointment. After I'm done with this uBox, I refuse to ever use them again. read more

I first made a reservation for a U-haul over the phone a little last minute, but she said it was available, no problem. I get a call just a few hours before I'm supposed to pick up the truck-- I was in the shower and couldn't answer. The voicemail said that that location had been overbooked and that my reservation was moved to a location further south of my house. The text I received with the new info said to call back to confirm. I did call back, and was on hold for over 40 minutes when they came back to my call and immediately hung up! I could not get through to talk to anyone. As a result, I had miles added to my trip as the couch I was picking up was very far north. This added a lot to my cost because the per mile cost is what makes these most expensive (sticker price $20 for the truck, but the mileage cost was over $70). Had I been able to get through to anyone, maybe I could have found a replacement further north. But I wasn't about to stay on hold for another hour only to be hung up on. Ultimately, the staff at this location (and every Uhaul) is fine, but trying to make a reservation has been a trial for me every time-- this is just my worst experience of it so far. read more

I was moving out of the area and was looking for a U-Haul around my new home. Turns out they all close early!!!! This U-Haul is the only one that opens early and closes at 7pm. It give you time to move in peace. It does get busy and I suggest coming in as soon as they open. I had to use the customer service like to change my drop of time and it was no issue. This Uhaul place made it very easy and fast to rent me a moving truck. They had it ready the next morning i went to pick it up. Cheap too

So I made the reservation a week in advanced for a 10 ft truck one way from Long Beach to San Diego and v they told me it came with a free month of storage. Well, they said my truck wasn't available and to pick it up at the Cudahy location which I was fine with. We get there and person who checked me in, Ciklali Cabrera, took my info and said yes your storage is still fine and not too worry (I did notice another customer come in and I'm not sure if she was startled but then she started to just do "yea don't worry about it" but not even caring about the rest of the stuff we were asking. So fast forward 2 days later, I call just to confirm my reservation and nothing is there. I have the first original confirmation number and everything was in there. Now we were frantically trying to resove this issue by going through 3 different uhaul reps who were so confused to help. Honestly please check your contracts once you receive them. To Uhaul employees if your not going to care about your "families" like you state them let someone else have your job that really wants one. You never know who you will meet and what they were going through. So thank you Uhaul for making my this devastating time of my sisters passing more difficult than it already is. Worst customer service received from this location and customer service line. Rented a truck for 2 days but only used it for one day and charged me $473.38 for one day even though it was for a one way trip!!! Why would you charge for 2 days and only one day was used????
