Looks like the same ole same O for this store. I called on The. for an appt. They said noon would be fine. They just had to have the Boss verify my quote for the labor and that would be sent by text. I call thur. and no answer. Call center says no appt. is on record. I called back two plus hours later thinking they are busy. I received a call 25 minutes later from the asst. mgr. WOW you would have thought she was my wife. No argument will be lost by her. I am regretful I didn't check the reviews. I will use the 16yr. old next door before these people to put on my hitch. Well, there is service, but it's far from friendly. I felt more like I had been processed that helped. The no contact check-in was so arduous that I had to go in. There was no "hello" or greeting. Just a "wait outside." When it was my turn, I'm not sure that he knew I was there. He got up and left. When he returned he said it was ready. I did a vehicle inspection. All good. I asked three times for the dolly I reserved and was off. The truck was good, worked well. The "sanitizing" they say happens felt questionable, given the dusty dashboard. But, I kept my mask and eye protection on, opened the windows, and felt ok. It was not dirty, but sanitized felt like an overstatement. Returning it was a breeze. Although, they called two days later to ask what time I returned it. Thankfully, I took lots of pictures of it when I brought it back, which were time stamped. But that was curious. So, vehicle was certainly good, I'd say 5 stars. Friendly, or even courteous, service is 1 star. So, I averaged it out. read more

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO HERE. I do not write reviews because I've never had a horrendous experience like this before... I made a reservation online a month out from when I would need a trailer hitch installed. The day of my appointment (one month later), I received a call saying they don't have the parts and they need a week to reschedule. A week later, on the day of the newly rescheduled appointment, I received a call saying they still don't have the parts. I don't understand the lack of foresight here. There was no respect for my time in notifying me the day of that the parts were still not available. Another week goes by, and I finally drop my car off to get the hitch installed. Just to get a call several hours later saying they were unable to install the hitch and I would need to take my car in to have the "bolts" cleaned so they could finish their installation. I had at this point waited three weeks past my initial appointment (that was made a month ahead of time) just to hear I need to go somewhere else and spend more money so that Uhaul could do their job. I picked up the parts I had purchased through Uhaul after a horrible interaction with the employees who do not know what inventory they have, or what parts they are even looking at. I waited patiently over an hour for an employee to talk with his manager on his cellphone, ON SPEAKER, with other customers around us. The employee needed to ask what parts were what on my receipt and if he could give them to me... what?! I took my car to a dealership and they told me to never use a Uhaul again, that there was nothing wrong with the "bolts" on my car and that this Uhaul in particular should not be allowed to install hitches or conduct any other car maintenance. I took my car in to a garage and they installed a hitch in 30 minutes flat. No rescheduling, no confusion period. Unfortunately no one else will install Uhaul equipment, but I eventually returned all of the purchased items and received a refund after hours of back-and-forth with Uhaul Support. All in all, do not go here. I cannot be more honest. read more

They will rent you a truck they know damn good and well is broken so when it has a problem and you've got all your shut loaded inside it can break and you have to call roadside assistance. The people that work at this place a incompetent and unresponsive. You can't even call the office if you break down because they're so incompetent they can't even answer the god damn phone! I think after today I start to use a different UHaul. Robert the General Manager is not very good. Just about every time I've been here there running behind and some kind of issue. He and his employee were late again today. They only had 3 customers waiting and once he got going got the customers out the door. I've been here 30 minutes and no customers and they still haven't got my vehicle in the bay. He said it only takes 45 minutes to an hour. I just don't understand how anyone can do business like that. I'm not in that big of a hurry but watching people just lallygag around while customers are waiting just seems, what's the word , oh lazy. 45 minutes passed by before they put my vehicle in the bay. I guess I should be glad its not 60 minutes. Finally finished and the dude ran the wire to the trailer lites inside the car,what the hell good does that do. So i had to go back and have him fix it the right way. If people only only had a device to communicate to people to ask questions right away,hmmm. The guy who worked on my truck was a great guy and i feel bad he has to work for the guy who runs it, he's terrible. Its a hard job but they make it harder then it needs to be and that's my opinion from going here for years. Not any more. read more

Reserved online a 6 x 12 trailer. When I was there they could not find the reservation. Then then thought I was renting an auto dolly transporter. Totally technology challenged when it came to using their computer system. Employees could have cared less about me or any sort of customer service. You could tell this was just "a job" to them and I was an inconvenience to them. When I rented the trailer for 18 hours (less than a day), they tried to charge me for two days and doubled the price. Not sure what was going on other than trying to get more money out of me. I would expect more from UHaul. Not sure how this store can even be part of a nationwide company with such poor service. read more

Repulsed by the experience I had at this location. I can't believe not only the way business was conducted, but how I was treated as well. It was supposed to be easy-peasy. Pick up the truck at this place, return it at another location close to my new house. I was told that this would be no problem at all, and the truck was ready! When we got there, EVERYTHING CHANGED. No one way trucks, we were told by a very, very rude and unprofessional employee. We'd have to pay about $150 extra for that! Nope, that's not happening. Another floating "temporary" employee yelled at my brother and I. I was furious. I just reserved the truck and said I won't pay for the extra miles. The reason for the disconnect is that the stupid freelance idiots that answer the phones are just random people in their homes. We called into customer service, and could NEVER get ahold of this store. I learned from an employee that they PURPOSELY send calls to the "call center." Finally got the horrible GM to give us a credit for half of the mileage. I swear to god, I will never come back here. If I acted like this at my job, I'd be fired before I knew it. I should have written this a long time ago, as now I can't remember everyones names..but I will say they helped save my weekend! I had rented a teardrop trailer that had a different utility hook up than what my car had..and after running to 2 different auto parts stores in search of an adapter, I landed at this U-Haul location.. The young man that helped me was wonderful!! He did not have the adapter I needed, but he was able to figure out how to work with what he had..and rewired quickly so I had lights and blinkers for the tow!! I can't thank them enough! So helpful and really went above and beyond! Excellent customer care! read more

What a great bunch. I got there around 7:30 am Though we were sleepy Roger was really entertaining and informed if he didn't have the info the other guy was super helpful. Took care of me really quickly and I even had enough time to tell them a few jokes. Out of the two other U-Haul I visited. This one was actually clean and organized and plenty of moving things : boxes bubble wrap tape it was nice to have choices. The other stores had at most two sizes box dust every where Totally recommend this store in the Thornton, Northglenn, Westminster area read more

Worst U-haul location ever. I made a reservation to have a hitch installed on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and ended up wasting 3 full days. Day 1: dropped off vehicle first thing in the morning only to get a call later in the day to let me know nothing was done because the hitch was bent and could not be installed. Scheduled a second visit for the following week and asked Chris if it would be completed then, he guaranteed me it would unless the part was faulty again. Day 2 (Thursday), drop off vehicle first thing in the morning, status in all day, only to find out that he broke a bolt. Chris tells me he has ordered it and can get to it "tomorrow/Friday" guarantee. I remind him i need it done before Saturday and he guarantees it'll be done. Day 3, drop it off, stays in all day and Chris calls me to tell me he couldn't find the bolt after telling me earlier that he had already found one at a different U-haul. 3 days wasted and nothing completed. The only thing they did was break a part. I ended up having to rent a vehicle to tow the trailer. The only thing they did right was to process my refund and eventually replace the broken bolt. I had to remind him of a VIP coupon he had offered as an apology. Sorry to say, but i lost my trust in U-haul. Sucks that there aren't many options. If i could give them a zero, i would. A female staff member at this location has extremely poor customer services skills to the degree that she should be fired or retrained. This incident involved her promising me to refill my propane tank in a minute and then she proceeded to serve three other customers. After 15 minutes, I pointed out that first come first serve is appropriate she escalated into excuses and other rude discourse. Poor customer service skills and business practices at this location. I do not recommend getting your propane tank filled at this location until they hire better staff and more staff. In addtion, I will not go to this location until they show proper social distancing measures and the employees wear masks. read more

I wish I could have chosen negative stars. Worst uhaul experience ever. We were double charged after we waited thirty minutes to speak to an employee. We were the only customers there and we are pretty sure the staff member that did return our vehicle had been somewhere smoking. After our thirty minute wait, the truck was seven minutes late. Seven minutes cost us nearly $70. Actually returning the truck twenty three minutes early cost an entire second day, for which we didn't even use the truck because it was already at Uhaul. The staff was rude on both occasions and we have been lied to by management. This is very clearly their business model, they make extra profits by double charging. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. It would be cheaper to rent a pickup from enterprise. Actually, it would be cheaper to hire a moving company. read more

This was the worst experience with a rental service my family and I have ever had. We had reserved a moving van for a Sunday morning at 7:30am. The day before we completed all of the necessary steps to complete the online pick up the next morning. We arrive the next morning to pick up the van. The website said that we couldn't pick up the van until they opened at 9:00 am although our reservation clearly stated that it was a 7:30 am online pick up. We proceeded to call the 800 number and were unable to be helped because that department wasn't open until 9:00 am either. There was the managers number on the door to the office, we texted, called, and left several voicemails for the manager. We received no response at all. We went back at 9:00 am after calling the office to make sure they were open and no response. We then had to wait in line for 20 minutes although the company had failed to prepare our pick up at 7:30 am. We were then told that we were told to complete a long process of uploading pictures of the van before we were able to take it. When we asked for help (because the company had already failed in providing us with our order,) we were told that they would not help us. This was a horrible experience and we will be requesting a full refund for the failed completion of our order and the hours cut into our rental time, as well as the inability by the manager to return any of our phone calls or texts. read more

Traveling from Seattle to well past Denver my trailer hitch receiver broke. They weren't able to resolve it but they sure gave it their best. Even gave me a soda (I offered to pay) while I waited. Genuinely nice couple of people. Wish I wrote their names down, but the one fellow had a name tag that read General Manager. Sent me to another U-Haul across town that specializes in custom hitches. Very bad experience with this store. Long story short: we rented Friday a Truck for Sunday for a round-trip to Loveland. We were told to arrive at 9:30am because of long lines when the store opens. We arrived at 9:15am and yes, had to wait 25 mins in line, but to find out that there was no truck and no resolution was offered! If you are looking for poor customer service, you won't be disappointed here! read more

Worst experience ever! I would avoid doing business with this place, at all cost. Horribly long lines-had to wait over one hour for a truck we reserved well in advance. And.......long story short, we dropped off the truck after hours on a Sunday night. The following day they said the truck was missing and accused us of stealing it. They even called the police on us! I have used this shop many times and have always had a great experience. It was Friday which seemed to impact volume greatly from moving on a Saturday. Checking in today was super easy--Jessica was so efficient, kind, and attentive. The truck drove great. We spent the extra $10 on the little bit bigger truck because I really like the ramp. We returned it late afternoon. The checkout process was super easy as well. Lane was professional and upbeat. No doubt we will have moving needs again in the future, and we'll be back. UPDATE (downgraded from 5 stars based on phone conversation to 3 stars after going into the store)- When I actually drove out to the location to have the hitch installed, I was informed that the hitch had never been ordered... I waited an hour before they figured this out and eventually had to go back home and return the next day.. They also had to scramble to find a hitch since it has not been ordered.... The process is not fluid. They did however, compensate for this as much as they could by giving me the service free of charge... It made out for an incredibly priced deal but I'd still prefer not to have spent two days on this. Still the best price I could find... read more

They *were* busy this morning. But the guy behind the desk made it roll. One woman had been left stranded because another store had not gotten her reserved truck in. She came into this one to try to get a truck. He tracked down a store that had one in the size she needed, double checked their inventory to make sure they actually had it, and then called to tell the person at the other store that the woman was coming for it. All while checking out the guy in front of me and myself. When I got to the truck, the other gentleman working backed it up for me and got me ready to go on my way Oh, and the location is easy to find, and right across the street from 2 gas stations, so you can fill up right before you hand it in. Very handy!!! The only down side is the parking area. It is ... compact, and when I was there, had a pretty large pot hole in the driveway area. read more

Called ahead, made my reservation; pleasant experience. I went out of my way to say so. When I arrived to pick up the truck, Friday evening, April 1, a single clerk engaged in a personal call on her cell phone allowed me to wait 5 minutes or more before she acknowledged me, more before she took care of me. During registration, she insisted I give her three phone numbers. Three? "Manager requires us to get 3 phone numbers." This is in the category of annoyance, but, really? I don't even have three phone numbers memorized anymore. When I declined their insurance because I have my own (via my car insurance, and the credit card I was using), I was told I could 1) check the box that indicated I would buy their insurance for $14, OR 2) check a box agreeing to pay up to $45K in cash on the spot when I returned the vehicle if there was any damage. I'm not 100% sure this is even legal, but, you know, I'm moving: I'm tired, and I'm dealing with a lot of detail, I signed it. This, however, is my biggest beef: I'm familiar with the neighborhood the office is located in, and I asked specifically when I made the reservation if I there was somewhere safe I could park my car overnight; was assured I could park in their lot. So I did not arrange a ride. In fact, as I was finishing up, I was told that their lot is too small and I'd have to find a spot to leave my car on a nearby side street. Interestingly, the next customer in line overheard this and was as incredulous as I, so it's possible I'm not the only one to deal w/ this bait and switch. When I returned the truck, an unsmiling, muttering clerk walked me out, said I had to "hmmhmmhmh." What? Get back in it and start it up, impatient. No explanation. I basically had to sit in the truck and run it through an inspection -- "left tail light, right tail light, etc." I've rented many many vehicles in my life and NEVER have I been treated so poorly. Fortunately for me -- and too bad for them -- over the course of the day, I passed 3 other UHaul rental places, so I know EXACTLY where to go next time. I want to make the point a final time: people in this situation, making decision upon decision, are tired, and so easily bullied. This service is bullying at best, and borders on predatory. read more

Tried three times to get bike hitch installed. First time (6/16/16), the appointment was made and the installer was on vacation, second time (6/23/16) I arrived at rescheduled appointment time and installer was three cars behind and it would be at least one-hour wait; third time (today 6/30/16) I arrived for my rescheduled 8:00 AM appointment but was told the installer doesn't arrive until 10:00 AM and the appointment was incorrect. Finally gave up and cancelled altogether. Will find some other place to do the work. Three strikes. read more

I wish I could write this review with 0 stars considering how terrible the service was. We scheduled our appointment to have our hitch installed over two weeks in advance, paid in advance, and called the day before to confirm our 9 am appointment. We drove an hour away from home to go to the place and arrived on time only to be told that our hitch wasn't there and that they needed to reschedule. We explained that we were moving in two days, and were told all they could do was wait and see if the part came in on time or not. We spent the next 6 hours battling on the phone with them and wasting time away from all the other things we needed to do to prepare for moving, to finally resolve to have a part brought from another local store. When we came back in to have it installed the person we spoke to acted like we didn't have any right to ask for some kind of refund, and wanted us to sign all the paperwork, including the payment amount before allowing us to speak with the manager, who seemed to not exist at all. The icing on the cake was, there was absolutely no waiting room, not even a chair in the corner, so we had to sit out in the sun for over an hour waiting for them to finish. Rented a pickup from here a couple times first time was good . The second not do much I was able to bring the truck back at the set time due that I was in the hospital due to an injury to my wrist. When I got there to return it I waited for about 25 minutes for the worker to stop talking to the customer about his personal stories. Then they charged me double because of my not able to get the truck back on time even though I was in the hospital they didn't seem to care and hit my debit card for additional charges two weeks later! Want to be treated as a "potential criminal"! U-Haul overall and this store (80th & Federal, Denver) in particular is stuck in the 80s as far a process, customer service and overall management. Have had three experiences with this location at 80th and Federal. All bad. The most recent two were within the last two weeks (July 2015). After the next to last experience I had never intended to use that store again. But U-Haul's antiquated process (poor IT, lack of customer communication, bad management) intervened and caused me to have to go back to this store. More below. When you visit this store, you will be greeted with long lines, slow processing, inexperienced or poorly trained employees and your first exposure to being that "potential criminal" experience. That potential criminal experience is driven my video cameras everywhere. Now most stores have video cameras these days. This store added a huge flashing red light on each camera, to make sure you know you are being videotaped. The arcane process then continues when you finally get to the counter. You will have to provide, enter or answer all the same information that you provided in the reservation to already called in or did online. And there systems just seems extremely slow. Then you get to the next phase of being a "potential criminal" - you need to provide THREE phone numbers so they can track you down when they assume you will steal their equipment. Anyone of you got three phones? Therefore you got to provide someone else's (spouse, partner, etc.) phone number. If you want to bring back the renal early and off hours they will want to charge you $15 more. No other U-Haul store that I've dealt with does this. No idea why you have to pay for bringing something back early. It seems counter to serving the next customer. Another anti-customer experience and probably assumes you are a potential criminal that we need to check. And when I actually brought it back, the attendant was too busy to unhitch it. He was the only person there at 7am and had two customer. So I had to do it myself. Just another bad customer experience. When you finally get through the process of providing ID, payment and reanswering all their checks and questions, it's about 10-15 minutes. Most car rentals do this in 2-3 minutes or if you are pre-registered, do don't even have to go to the desk!! Move into the 20th century, U-Haul. Can try for the 21st later. So, how did I get to go back to a store I never wanted to do business with again? I had booked a trailer at the Storage Perfect store on 120th and Piece in Broomfield for the prior day. Unfortunately I arrived right at their closing time and they would not service my reservation because "they had shutdown their computers". Another bad U-Haul customer satisfaction experience. No attempt to help, just sorry and call U-Haul reservations. This manager is Jason. That leads to the next set of U-Haul pain! I went online to change the date of the reservation. It accepted the changes online and they sent me a confirmation email, with the wrong date!!! Tried it several times and always wrong date on the email update. So, called the 1-800 number. After 15+ minutes of being on hold and listening to the ad nauseam message about customer feedback (nice idea, too bad it's not executed on), I finally got an operator. She initially could not change it either, but put me back on hold for a minute or so and got it solved. She was very nice and professional. Got a confirmation email with the correct date and for the same 120th and Pierce store. So the next day I went a little early to the 120th and Pierce store. Got the same U-Haul person as the previous day - he is the actual onsite store manager and lacking in personality and customer service skills. No, did not have the reservation and did not have the trailer. Need to go to the 80th and Federal store. ZERO communication or confirmation email to me. So, this is just not a one store issue. It's a U-Haul issue. Exasperated, I went back to 80th and Federal for another dose of the "you are a potential criminal" experience. On my prior visit to the U-Haul 80th and Federal store to get the same trailer, they took a pictures of my contract, the trailer hook-up and of me. You must be a criminal. Incidentally, the trailer hook up process was completely different by two different employees about a week apart. So, no real process consistency. When I asked, I got the "that is the way I was trained". Same store, two different employees and a week or so apart. Another broken U-Haul process. Overall, on my experiences with U-Haul, I see it in the category of Montgomery Ward, Radio Shack, K-Mart, etc. Lost in the past and on the way to extension. The moving process is stressful enough and always under time constraints. Having processes, customer service and management like U-Haul demonstrated here is not helpful.
