This U-Haul seriously changed the way we viewed the company. Back in May (2019 so just two months ago) Matthew and an older caucasian man helped us with a bit of a problem. We were on our way to Las Vegas when one of our two cars stopped working while driving and hauling the one-bedroom trailer from U-Haul. We ended up having to stay the night in Barstow at the Motel 6. It was a disaster. The car could only be driven for distances shorter than 5 minutes and that wasn't a lot of time. The next morning (the day AFTER we were actually supposed to move into our new place) we stopped at an auto parts store and then after no luck we decided to just go to a U-Haul to rent a truck and car mount. When I walked into this location and told the gentleman what I needed he immediately started away at the transaction. But after making conversation and telling him how we currently have a U-Haul trailer and our car broke down he took a minute to go above and beyond. He then was able to get us on the road safely with exactly what we wanted but for MUCH less than we were prepared to pay for. Even the two men's help through the entire process of transferring vehicles was beyond helpful. 1 star because it is advertised that the cost / mile is $.99 yet you charged me $1.29. Then your website says it's "supply and demand"...wtf is that all about? Would have been a 4-5 star experience since your employees , for the most part , were pretty good...but that is just ridiculous to gouge people for no reason. I understand that COVID is going on and companies are doing their best. However, I reserved a uhaul on August 29th. Twice now, uhaul has called me to tell me that they don't have my U-Haul within a 30 mile radius. I have had to push my move back twice and this situation is really complicating things I have planned, my job has been okay with me postponing my arrival date already but, eventually I won't be able to do that. My new home is also not going to hold my apartment forever. This is putting me in a really tough space between a rock and a hard place. Again, I understand that COVID is a factor, however this is unacceptable and borderline unprofessional. read more

Custome service was okay, it was just very pricey cost me $150 for 8am-1pm. On top of the price you have to fuel the truck up and that's an additional $50. I would use this for emergency's only read more

The general manager, Mr. Lugo has a very off-putting personality. He is very cold, no warmth. Not personable. He sees his job as just quoting you all the rules and conditions for renting a truck or a space. He has no concept of understanding that the customer is there to evaluate the value of the service. Plus, they generally have (an unstated policy) of wanting you to reserve a truck in advance. There will be a dozen 26-footers lined up and several other trucks, but if you do not book the smaller truck in advance, you are out of luck. But, that rule does not apply to the 26-footers! The more expensive 26-footer is always available. What a surprise. So part of my complaint is Mr. Lugo and part of my complaint is this arbitrary money-grubbing policy of U-Haul. read more

I rented a trailer to haul a motorcycle and even though I had a whole conversation with Kevin about using the trailer for a motorcycle, I drove away with the wrong trailer. It's 45 miles to home from Barstow and had to come all the way back to switch trailers and go back home to get my motorcycle. Corey, the store manager, helped me and was really great about the mix up. They reversed the cost of the trailer since I had to drive over 90 miles extra. Superb service and great people skills. I deff will use again! read more

I suggest that the Regional Supervisor of this location filter out the employees that can't/won't do their jobs. The manager of this location seems to be months behind on his daily requirements. I would say this is the worst U-Haul location, but at the Boulder, CO location- one of the employees accidentally hit my friend in the shins, causing him to swell and bleed, with a wrench. So apart from that experience, this is the worst U-Haul location. read more

Alex, the manager of this location, had the customer service skills of a doorknob. There was a line of 4+ people and he proceeded to help the customers in the facility rudely and at a leisurely pace. He was very brunt and degrading with all of his explanations and made this process as unpleasant as possible. I recommend you avoid this location if possible. read more

We recently tried to stop at this facility on our way to San Diego. We were driving an RV and discovered our tow vehicle had been wired backwards. The individual working refused to even look at our car telling us it would take at least 1.5 hours to fix. He was extremely rude as well. When we got to Oceanside and stopped at the U-haul store there, they fixed the issue in 5 minutes free of charge. U-haul Barstow - you stink. read more

Alex the manager is very respectful but overwhelmed. He is the only one installing hitches often so any customers walking into the shop or calling takes time away from the install. As a result, we waited for 4 hours for a 1.5 hour job. read more

we rented a storage unit temporarily. It was during the winter, from the moment we drove in to the facility we were greeted. Corey (the manager) was amazing took the time to figure out what size unit I actually needed. Gave me a ride to ir unit and took care of me. He didn't only helped me with the unit size but also understood that I was going to finish moving in late and helped me out. We ended up getting a truck as well to finish faster. We had never had a fast and pleasant customer service.!! Thank you for helping me out with this process. This great review was long overdue.!! read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Nick has a horrible attitude and gave us a hard time renting the equipment I needed. He gave me an attitude and told me he didnt have the trailer when I had called 2 hours before to make a reservation. Mind you I had called 15 min before pick-up to confirm. Obviously if I had a reservation I knew what I reserved. Instead of looking up my reservation he made a stupid comment saying "I dont have any one way trailers available even though you made a reservation. You can't take anything!" If he would of looked up my reservation he would have known I didn'tI reserve a one way. Then checking out he asked for the address. I was sitting behind my husband and was telling MY HUSBAND the address as my husband repeated it to him. Nick then says [with a fuckin attitude again] "She needs to come here I cant hear her!"FYI I wasn't talking to you fuckin idiot. My husband was repeating it to you why would you want me in front of you. Horrible experience. That location is only open because unfortunely in the middle of the desert there arent many other choices. read more
