I've been filling propane at this location for over a year and a half for my food truck and additional tanks, and unfortunately my experience has become very frustrating. Managers have assured me of filling up my propane tanks and they've been doing it for over a year and a half without issues. Now under new management, I'm suddenly being told they can't fill them due to "regulations," even though nothing about my setup has changed and they previously serviced them without a problem. The inconsistency between staff and management, along with the lack of clear knowledge or communication, is extremely disappointing and has affected my business operations. The truck was fine (I rented it in Riverside, and just dropped it off at this location). I parked the return next to other trucks of its size in the lot. As I got out I was barked at to move it to the line up in the middle of the lot. I moved the truck, got out, and because there were no instructions, I went inside (only to be told to go back out and wait by the truck). When I pointed out that they could use some signage to instruct customers, I was told "there is a sign, under the canopy". This small sign, 3 feet off the ground under a 20 foot tall canopy was hidden by the poles of the canopy and the 3 trucks in line in front if me... Maybe a large arrow on the ground leading to the canopy? Or a RETURNS sign at the top of this 20 foot tall canopy where it could easily be seen? (Or an employee in the lot providing information BEFORE you park and get out of the return?) I don't work there... I was the customer (but zero "welcome" or any customer direction/experience that was professional). U-Haul rents to regular people (not professional truck drivers who might be more use to the vague employee free parking lot and rough directions). Getting there: You can take Ramon all the way down passed Gene Autry Trail and you will run into the U-Haul signs and trucks on the right hand side. Parking is very limited in front of the store, but there is some street parking on the side street. Experience: I made a reservation for a cargo van, and I was able to get in and out in less than 20 minutes. The return process was even easier. You pull up the vehicle to the drop off area and someone checks the vehicle and collects the keys. They can either email you a receipt or print you one on the spot. read more

*FRAUD ALERT* I received a random $53.29 charge alert on my credit card today. I was at home in bed, and called immediately to find out what was going on. I asked if someone had tried to come in and present a fake card or something as I was in possession of this card - the store worker said that no one had even come in and that she wasn't even able to find a charge for this amount in the system. She said I should dispute the charge with my bank. I've been to this U-haul before, but it was 9 months ago first week of March. Make sure they delete all your card and personal information from their system as it looks like it's obviously been compromised. Now I'm going on a trip this week and won't be able to use that card. read more

Beware the improper read on the gas gauge trick. We rented a 26' truck to move. We had 1/2 tank of fuel when we left. When done we went to restore the gas to the half tank level. The gauge misread the amount in the tank. We asked the manager to be fair with us. All he could do was point to the contract and say sorry. We didn't ask for an advantage but rather to be fair with us. No help. To add to the screwing we got. They had the nerve to charge us the $25 cleaning fee to sweep out the back of the truck. U-Haul took advantage of a 25 year customer. Some customer service. beware! They have an answer for everything and point to your contract as justification for taking huge advantage of you. They are hardly worth the one star at this point. Fix your gas gauges UHaul!!!!! read more

The assistant manager, Kyra, looked us in the eye and didn't deny that she charged us extra without our knowledge. She will charge you extra and lie to your face about it. I needed a truck for 6am this morning and reserved it on Friday, 2 days ago, and was told that I could pick the truck up before this location opened at 9am by using my cell phone. What they didn't tell me was I would not be able to complete the rental process without providing extra contact info or my passport. So after a $20 cab ride and freezing my ass off in the parking lot, I had to give them my wife's contact info, but didn't have anyone else I was comfortable with them waking up at 6am on a Sunday morning. We rented a 15 footer for four hours today. Yes, we had a reservation and the check in was painless. The truck was clean and we hauled a couple of loads. Dropping off the truck was even easier. The store manager did reach out but the regional manager did not. U-haul, U-work, U-pay they don't care really. They have the truck and space that U-don't. Its fun when you select the do yourself option and you do all the work and the price is the same. What a great concept. Sell anything that needs to be in storage more than s month is what I'm learning. You just see the rent go up and will pay more than your stuff is worth in a the long run. Storage facilities should be turned into homeless shelters then I'd say U-haul would be a "family" company as it is now it does not care about families. Great marketing trick though. read more

I picked up my truck after waiting for 45 minutes. Later discovered that there was no key to the lock for the back of the truck so I had to return to get the key. The one employee working the desk was friendly and professional, even apologizing for the long wait, but the center is short staffed. I called to complain about the long wait and missing key and was told I was receive a refund after the truck was returned. After returning the truck, I was still charged. I again called and said the manager would reach to me. She called me days later and told me I wouldn't be receiving a refund. Terrible customer service by management. As many of you know, U-Haul is the worst company to ever exist in the United States. I knew this of course, but it's been along time since I had rented with them and I had a lapse in judgment. I was not told that I needed an alternate form of ID because obviously if I had been...I would've brought it with me. I was told by a representative that I could also move forward with a call to a reference or employer. We gave that a try but U-Haul said they were not able to reach anyone. Neither my employer nor the reference (both of whom I called before hand) received a phone call. When I told the representative that it would be helpful to tell people at the time of the reservation and before they left home that they would need an alternate form of ID, and asked if he thought that would be helpful he said no.... he said he thought their policies were fine the way they were. I explained that not only am I not renting from them today (and they are not making money) but he is being forced to speak to me which is a waste valuable U-haul time. He didn't think either of these things was a problem. Your typical not my problem drone. Stay away at all costs. read more

If there was an option for NEGATIVE STARS I would have selected ! They cancelled my guaranteed reservation after I arrived , sent me to another dealer 20 miles away and then after arriving to my move we discover a combo pad lock that NO ONE HAD THE COMBO TOO, they quoted us a 90 minute wait to have the lock cut off by road side maintenance but could not guarantee that roadside maintenance could assist that we may have to swap U-Hauls (if there is one left - if not we'd have to wait until the next day). That put us 3 hours behind on the move and had the nerve to charge us an additional day. We were delayed because of their incompetence. We also incurred additional cost because we had movers at home and movers in LA waiting that were being paid by the hour. We had to get an electric saw to cut the lock off ourselves. The customer service is the absolute WORST! Their customer service (staff) number is equally rude and incompetent I've never seen anything like it ! I would NEVER rent from any UHAUL dealer again ! I would avoid UHAUL at all cost not worth the brain damage! Truly an unbelievably negative experience. read more

Horrible! Checked my storage the other day and it's covered in a thick blanket of dirt that is blowing in from the outside, at a dirty UNSEALED storage space. These places are not SEALED. They are just open to the elements. To have it open to the elements in a sandy dirty desert is not a good idea. I could cover my stuff with a tarp in my back porch and it would be cleaner and safer than this ghetto joint. And free. I've been paying $90 a month for a year for a tiny space and they have the GALL to send out a letter that they are raising the price to $100. per month. Are you serious? $100- To RUIN my things? It will take me a month to clean all the filth in there. Who has the time and energy for that? Steer clear of this place. read more

I stopped by at about 2:30 Saturday afternoon 10/9 to get some propane tanks refilled. I approached the young guy behind the counter who was staring at his phone. I said Hello, he looked up from his Instagram feed or whatever he was focused on and I told him what I needed. He looked me in the eye and said " I'm on my lunch right now". I politely said "well ok I need propane now". He repeated that he was on his lunch and would not serve me until his lunch hour was over in a half hour or so. I left and went elsewhere. OK UHaul in Cat City, I know everyone is desperate for employees right now, but at least hire someone to work the counter and do their job and act halfway professional?
