This is my second time using this location and I had a great experience both times. Staff is friendly and service is quick. The first time I rented a truck for in-town use (about 6 years ago), and recently I just dropped off a trailer. The trailer return took no more than 2 minutes. As soon as we arrived, an employee disconnected it for us and sent us on our way. So easy! read more

When I asked about replacing a wire, something I would gladly pay for them to do, I was hung up on. Called back immediately and was on hold for 52min. I finally lost all hope. I Hung up. Had to get me car back with them not even to attempt the fix I was scheduled for. And this is the work Shawn did! Refuses to even work on it. Fix it. Just went today to get a propane tank refilled. Went into the store. I approached the counter where a bearded guy in a do rag and scrolling on his phone said "Yeah?". I said I was there to get a propane tank filled. He said, "meet you there". I drove to the fill area. He came out. He said nothing and just stood there, still looking at his phone. I said "Do I just put it on the scale?" (Thinking that was HIS job), he says "Well, yeah" So I put the tank on the scale. He starts spinning it around several times and the say "This tank is expired...I can't fill it" I said "What does that mean, it's expired?" He again just says "It's expired" So I say What does that mean in regard to the tank?" To which he replied "You don't know what expired means?" So, I grab the tank off of the scale and as I am putting it back in my car I say to him "Never mind, obviously you're too busy on your phone to do your job" He's talking under his breath and I get in the car and drive away. I go down Transit Rd. to Valu Home Centers where the DO believe in customer service and they were wonderful. U-Haul, you have lost my business forever because of this lazy employee who acted the whole time like I was putting him out. read more

Uhaul is great to use for its convience and different options offered. In the process of moving, rented the 19.99 truck plus 99 cents for mileage fit everything one load. Check in process was simple, its nice they offer different box options, totes, and other packing supplies based on your needs. Just be sure to check to see if you need a dolly...its avilable for $7 which is reasonable...doesnt work well with plastic totes. Overall, great experience and customer service. read more

We've rented from this location 3 times. The first was April of this year when we reserved a trailer. Of all the options online for extras that once was it mentioned that we needed a light connector so of course we show up to pick up the trailer and conveniently they sell them. Obviously bought one because you wanted to use the trailer. Later in April we rented a truck and a month or so later we rented another trailer at which time we'll used the connector they sold us the first time. We were absolutely satisfied with the service we received in the past. Fast forward to yesterday we again reserve 2 trailer and went to go pick it up and wouldn't you know the connector they sold us didn't work on one side. The person working there how's my husband check the car and said it was definitely the connector but they didn't have any in stock. My husband returned this morning to speak to the owner and she said they don't warranty anything. She also proceeded to tell him that these things don't break which is a load of crap. We've been good customers and it's such a shame to lose us because you sold as junk and won't replace it. Be wary of renting here. I know we won't be going back and I feel bad for all those other people that they are sold connectors to you who are going to be out of luck when theirs fail. read more

Using F bombs while keeping the phone of the hook on purpose, bumping and eating on the phone and then placing you on a 20 min hold while they "get the manager" when you ask these Neanderthals to cancel a hitch installation order. After they took my request they blatantly lied and never actually cancelled the order, with me having to call uhaul corporate to obtain a refund. read more

Rented a small truck to help with a local move. The truck was in good shape, clean, and easy to drive. The furniture blankets and appliance trolley were all in the truck when I picked it up. When I hauled my life cross country from Denver to Buffalo, I decided to hitch a small UHaul to my small SUV to transport my belongings. In order to do this, I had to have a hitch installed on my vehicle. UHaul did this for me for about $300. You have to buy all of the parts (about $250 for my Nissan Rogue), and the installation (about $60). Then of course, you rent a trailer. And take 3.5 days worth of driving with 2 dogs in tow to get back home. Haha! I'd do it again. It wasn't bad at all. Since I'm getting a new car, I have opted to have my hitch removed. For $60, UHaul removed the hitch today. To have it put back on my next car, since the model and body is the same/similar it'll cost about the same as it was to remove. The staff here were all friendly. The waiting area is not really a waiting area but a few (actually comfy) chairs facing a wall of doo-dads. I was out of there in about 1.5 hours (call ahead to make an appointment). I would come back here for anything else UHaul related that I need. They've got great stuff for moving. I especially liked the mattress bags and furniture movers I got from Here for the move. Helped a lot! read more

Ok. So. I really think the issue here is with corporate U-Haul, and not with the branch itself, though I will say that our previous dispute with the company was handled well. We came back to rent a truck (yeah, I know - we never learn) and the gentleman behind the counter was nothing but super nice. Thus the addition of stars. He was very attentive and happily answered our questions. This time was hassle free. Each time we've had trouble with U-Haul, it's been an issue with billing, or picking up a vehicle, and I strongly suspect that it's the corporation's influence. The staff at this particular U-Haul seems pretty cool. I may not dig U-Haul as a company, but I can't really rag on the local staff. read more

This is a dishonest company. They promise door to door u-box delivery and then change the order after you have shipped. After paying them $2,500 they now tell me I have to pick the box up myself. For more money, they will rent me a truck and trailer to pick it up myself. They promise door to door and do not follow through! read more

Avoid this place at all cost. First, I wait for over 30 minutes to pick up my truck (I was first in line), which I booked online and paid for. Then after finally I finally get someone to assist me, I'm told the online system is down and I have to rebook the truck again and pay for it again with the same credit card. Of course I did t bring the exact credit card with me, I had to pay for a Uber ride 25 back home. This after all I was told everything had been done online and all I had to do was pick up the truck keys. I will never use this place again. read more

This place has no clue what they are doing, I politely asked to rent a "car trailer" not a car dolley. The man offers me a car dolley when I'm pulling a all wheel drive subaru then I explain to him that wont work. He then finds a trailer that I originally asked for 30 miles away when theres one right in the back of the store not being utilized. Then tells me 50 dollars for the one 30 miles away. Before he corrected himself 10 minutes later saying it was going to be 110 dollars and they dont have one at the location he said they did have.. There is one further away for the same price and the same amount of headache I have now. Eventually I told him to cancel my request. Then told him not to advertise the product if you don't have it. Over all I'm extremely pissed off and this store is full of unexperienced jokes. Especially the guy with the oakleys behind the counter. read more

I got what I paid for and they had my reservation. There are the two stars for that. The counter people rush through the information so they can promptly return to their cell phones to go on Facebook and text. I asked questions and was spoken to like I should know where to find the truck, what kind of gas it takes and where to return it. They are doing construction so there is nowhere to park and the employees parked there took up 2 spots (2 different employees). I return the truck, wait in line for 10 minutes. Finally a girl says go in back where I returned the truck. I finally find an employee sitting in a U-Haul truck playing on his cell phone. He sees me standing there and says, I quote "what's up." I say I'm returning the truck. He says ok and takes the keys and will email a receipt. Fine. Bye. I couldn't bear another minute with these pinheads read more

UHaul has the worst customer service... I reserved a Trailer over the phone and told the kid what my Truck was and when I arrived the Manager told me I couldn't use my Colorado.... So I said I'd get my F150 and He said not to bother they were closing soon... I said it wasn't my fault and I could get back before they closed and he said he didn't care if I came back right away because he was going to let some other guy take the trailer... I called the 800# to complain and Todd banned me for complaining and making a scene...... I told him I was a disabled Veteran and he said he didn't care... read more

Terrible service! Trying to get a trailer hitch installed & weeks after appt is made, no parts & no phone call to prevent me from showing up. I fail to understand how you make a deposit, make an appt in advance & they tell you that the part just came in damaged the morning of the appt. Someone is not telling the truth. Give them a second try, show up at specified time, & now harness is not there and another customer's reserved truck is nowhere to be found. Does no one take responsibility here? I'm sure the least the service rep could do is place a phone call to let people know in advance that they are screwed. read more

On May 18 I placed an order and paid online for a tow hitch installation, my appointment was for May 20 at Transit Depew location. I received a message from that location saying there was a mistake and there were no appointments for that date I called back and was told there was an opening at the Genesee location for May 19 at 2pm but they didn't have the hitch for my vehicle and for me to purchase it from the Transit location and bring it with me when I go to my appointment on Genesee. When I arrived to my appointment on the 20th I was told they don't have anyone to install the hitch. Another appointment was made for the Transit location for the 26th of May 2pm. I arrived at 1:40 and after waiting there until 4pm I was told the hitch was bent I received no other explanation and was asked if I wanted to make another appointment, needless to say I did not. This place just notified me less than 24 hrs. before I'm supposed to pick up a UHaul that I will have to travel an extra 30 mins to a different UHaul to get a truck. I'm disgusted by this! We visited this Uhaul location to get a trailer hitch installed. The gentleman who was supposed to install our hitch kept our car for two hours, then called and informed us that he could not install the hitch because our muffler was loose. I asked if he was a certified mechanic and he stated that he was not. I told him to please install the hitch and that we would take the car to a mechanic to look at the muffler. He refused and said that we needed to get the muffler fixed first. I asked if he had any appointments for the upcoming two days, because we already had an appointment to get our car checked by a mechanic the following day. He informed us that their earliest appointment was a week later. This meant that we had to completely alter our moving plans and push our dates back an entire week. We took the car to a mechanic the following day and were told that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the muffler. I called Uhaul and asked if there was anything they could do for us, considering our moving plans were derailed because of a poor judgement call made by their employee for no reason at all. I was told that the only thing they could do was provide a $50 VIP certificate. The trailer hitch installation was ~$500. The VIP certificate that I was issued did not work at any Uhaul location that we later visited and we have still yet to be apply to use it for anything (i.e. cost of trailer, cost of storage, etc.) This was by no means the only issue we had with Uhaul during our cross-country move, just the major one to occur at this specific location. Additionally, we never received a single apology from anyone at this Uhaul location and received very poor service both of the times we visited the location. Employees were very unhelpful and we waited for ~30 minutes before even being helped the second time we visited the location. Very disappointing for a service that is so costly from a company as longstanding as Uhaul. read more

I've had two dealings with the branch. Both very satisfying. One was a truck rental. All went well. The other was repairing the trailer light harness. All good. Plus I sat in the lobby and heard them greet every customer with a reservation by name. Extremely attentive. A very well run branch which is not the norm for many UHaul branches. read more
