I have mostly dropped rental vehicles at this location. This past visit, though, I picked one up for day use. Note that this is an "electronic pickup only" location, which means that you should have a reservation and have your smart phone with you. I was advised by the staff to use the website instead of the app since it is much more reliable for getting checked in and access to your vehicle. The vehicle I received was in good working order and had a full tank of gas. The only issue was that the driver's side sun visor would lower itself whenever I hit any bumps in the road, so I was having to put it up periodically. Checking in is also done remotely, but when I returned the vehicle, it was still during business hours and the staff said they'd take care of it for me, which saved me a lot of time taking photos and going through the usual "online" process. I had to wait for my ride and the staff checked on me a couple of times to make sure that I was OK. (Apparently, bad traffic and nearly running out of gas caused my ride to be delayed a bit.) While not this location's fault per se, I find that the whole U-Haul system is rather inefficient. I have an account with them and have uploaded all of my documentation in addition to renting trucks many times over the past 4 years. So, WHY do I need to take a selfie and upload copies of my license EVERY TIME I rent a truck... at the time of rental? That cuts into your rental time unless you know that and arrive half an hour early to get all of that taken care of (my cell service at this location was incredibly slow and the tools use a geofence, so you can't do everything until you're onsite.) At this point, I feel like I am a known customer and have had enough successful rentals that the non-expired license I uploaded into my u-haul account should be sufficient. Maybe there are some laws that I am not aware of, but it annoys me each time. read more

Joel at this location was fast, friendly and efficient. Got my propane tank filled quickly and easily. Called this location while I was in the area- got the 800 number pressed two to get to the local store. Joel picked up the phone right away. I told him I needed my propane tank refilled. He said they do that here bring it on in and helped me get to their spot. Upon arrival he was quick to help me asked me if I'd like to move my vehicle closer so I didn't have to walk the tank back to my car filled it up. Everything was efficient and easy. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Danielle is extremely rude. Made fun of and mocked a customer to their face while I was there, and was very rude although there was a horrible accident on i-70. The staff at location was not helpful when I arrived. I had seen an option to check in at the office, but when I arrived, the staff seemed annoyed that I didn't know they only do App check-ins. The app process took 30 minutes. Even afterwards I could not find the right vehicle to rent and I had to ask the staff for help anyways. I also had no idea the truck would not come with a ramp. U-Haul pushes many offers to rent Dollies and Blankets, purchases of boxes, storage space, etc. - but the ramp was really what I needed and what I thought each truck was equipped with. Would give zero stars if I could I ordered two U-Boxes, and when I went to pick them up, it took over an hour to get them. I chose self-delivery, so I picked up one box, filled it up, returned it, and then got my second box. I dropped that one off and thought everything was good. Once I dropped off the second box, I felt relieved and thought everything was finally on track. However, shortly after, I began receiving a barrage of phone calls from U-Haul. They peppered me with questions about my boxes: how many I had, whether I had dropped them off, and the intended destination for each. The relentless questioning made me increasingly anxious. When I arrived in my new state, I was met with confusion from U-Haul staff, who informed me that one of my boxes was considered lost. They asked me for the box numbers, and to my dismay, the counts of my boxes kept changing. At one moment, they claimed I had four boxes, then three, and finally two. I was directed to call the drop-off location to clarify the situation, but my efforts were fruitless as no one ever answered the phone there. Frustrated, I had to submit a claim and anxiously awaited their response over the next few days. Thankfully, I eventually received good news: they had located the missing box. I quickly scheduled a pickup to retrieve my items and move them away from U-Haul for good. Initially, I had planned to store my boxes with U-Haul until we moved into our new house, but after the chaos, my trust in their service evaporated. To add insult to injury, I was charged for two boxes for an entire month, even though I had only stored them for five days. I assumed they would prorate the rent, so when I called to discuss the charges, I was shocked to hear their policy: they do not prorate rent at all. I expressed my frustration, as I had just shelled out $237.60 for those five days of storage. Their only response was, "Sorry, we do not prorate." The entire ordeal felt utterly ridiculous. Between the confusion, the endless phone calls, and the lack of support, I felt I had wasted so much time and energy due to their incompetence. They enjoy messing with you. First the guy hassled me to pay cash for a propane tank refill, said they really "didn't like" doing credit cards. What? That's what most people use for everything. I didn't want to use up my last cash, so first he says they don't do "pay at the pump" outside any more, which they used to do, and despite that he had a handheld device. He said we would have to go inside, wouldn't I prefer to pay cash? Then he pretended their credit card system didn't work at all. He fumbled around, took forever, kept making mistakes and having to start over. He kept hassling me to pay cash. What's with that? He also kept taking his mask down, and ignored social distancing. I have an at-risk relative so I have to take virus protection seriously, though clearly he didn't care about it. read more

I picked up my nephew after renting a truck the other day and i recommend no one ever use this place. He went over on milage so i understand that but we return the unit full and the liar said it was three quarters of a tank. He said come look and i did. Was on full. He claimed it was three quarters when he looked before. Scam alert. So i said no way. They charged my card almost $200. He said he would do a refund but looked very confused how to do it. I said forget it and left. Then the charged my card AGAIN for $150. First off, how do you rent an $80k truck to someone with no credit card? Now i will contest the charges with my bank and will talk to the police about theft charges. I never aithorized this second charge he made after i left. Please go to a different uhaul location if you don't feel like getting scammed and stolen from. Shame on you two inexperienced rip off artists. Pretty bad service! Made an appointment to get a U-haul hitch installed on my car. Spoke with the assistant manager when I made it for the next day, said it would take about 30-45mins to install. The next day I get there right at appointment time at 8am, only one person was there, the manager. He said there is no appointment for me at all, great! But said he can get me in at about 815am - still he was the only one there the whole time. Started to install the hitch and ofcourse people came to drop off and pick up trucks/trailers. So finally it was installed, at almost 11am, two and a half hours after start and it cost about $60 MORE then I was quoted online and over the phone. I need the hitch that day, so I just paid it. Didn't really have the patience and time to argue about the time it took or how much it cost. Few other people that were there said they've seen this u-haul going down and the service being worst every time. read more

I am still waiting to get my hitch installed. Today is Sunday. I ordered the hitch on Monday and was told it would arrive Wednesday or Thursday, so they scheduled my install for Friday morning. On Friday, I got a call that it had arrived and would I please call to schedule an appointment for install? Sigh. My second install appointment was for today at noon, and my husband and I had to plan our day around it. At 11:30 this morning, I got a call wanting to know when I would like to schedule my installation appointment. So I called the specific number for THIS location and after being on hold for 20 minutes, I was patched through to a different location. The lady was helpful and looked me up in the system, saying my appointment had been scheduled for 10 a.m. and I had missed it. I just got off the phone with a national overflow dispatch after trying to call the Colfax location. The guy was very nice, but had to contact the local place because they don't update the system with their hitch mechanic's hours. He said they had openings from 7-9 a.m. on Monday morning, so I scheduled. Half an hour later, the Colfax location called, asking when I wanted to schedule my install appointment (you can be sure I am tired of being asked that when I thought I had an appointment). Do you even still follow? I hardly do. I was informed that they actually don't have an opening until Wednesday and that I should just leave my car all day because they don't know how long it will take or when they can get to it. (When I ordered the hitch, I was told it would take an hour.) UPDATE: My appointment was finally kept. They did the job in about three hours, which was pretty good. They do have great hours for us workin' folk and I paid the price I was originally quoted. The only thing is that there's some kind of metal bulge in my hitch, meaning I can't get my bike rack on because the bulge is in the way. I'm not sure it's their fault, but I'm hoping they can saw it off if I take it back. read more

Two days before we were to pick up the truck, they called to cancel our reservation, stating the nearest truck was in Kansas. We now have to pay for a moving company which is costing us $3000 more cuz we had to hire a moving company. UHaul is NOT reliable, their 'reservations' mean absolutely nothing and they have no problem screwing ppl over. If you can find another moving truck, you're better off renting from someone else! read more

I've used this U-Haul location to rent a truck last year. I was able to get the truck rented and returned without any problems. I also bought a hand truck from them for a decent price and we've used it a ton, so it was definitely worth the money. More recently, I stopped in to buy a stack of boxes. They did the transaction quickly and one of the employees took the boxes to my car and put them in the trunk for me, all without my asking. I've had positive experiences with them, and I will be back. read more

The "owner" of this place doesn't not understand basic reading comprehension. On May 30, 2013, Uhaul issued a memo titled "Attention: All Retailers, Distributors and Users of Composite Cylinders manufactured by The Lite Cylinder Company.". This memo states that these cylinders are not to be used or refilled due to a recall. Fast forward to October 2018, the "owner" of this Uhaul station refuses to fill a cylinder manufactured by Viking Cylinders. None of the cylinders manufactured by Viking Cylinders are subject to a recall, and I showed him the current certificate from DOT stating that this cylinder is safe to fill. He claimed that Uhaul issued a memo "years ago" with a new corporate policy to not fill composite propane tanks. I told him that I think he is misinterpreting the memo, and let's pull up a copy and take a look at it. He refused. The guy was incredibly rude about the whole situation and clearly had an ego that is associated with the "owner" label on his shirt. I will not go back to this Uhaul location, ever, and will actively steer other people away from it due to their rude service and false claims about products. read more

I rented a 12x6 trailer from them for a couple of days for local use. When I brought it back, I arrived two minutes after closing (doh!). The lights were out and door locked, so I though, "Dang, out of luck." Just then an employee came out a side door and said, "Don't worry, I'll unhook it for you and we'll take care of you. WOW, that saved me a trip - they didn't have to do that - thanks! That's 5 star service. The trailer worked perfectly, was clean inside, and towed great - and for a good price. Pickup was no-fuss with the online reservation made the night before. I'll use them again. I know other people have had bad U-Haul experiences, but mine went flawless. read more

This not my first time using this Uhaul location. Moving is never fun, but Mr. Mahluza was wonderful. He and his staff was very helpful to the point of recommending a moving crew, should we need it. We did call for help with unloading and even that went perfectly. Their trucks are clean and dependable. They have everything to make your move seemless and offer different levels of service. Amazingly un-professional. We booked our truck weeks in advance of our in-town move. On the morning of the day of pick-up, I called the office and let them know I would be there for the truck in the early afternoon. They acknowledged that this would be fine. Later the same morning I received a voice mail with a message from the owner stating that since I was not in on time to pick up the truck that they gave it away. The tone of the call was condescending and indicating that I was to blame. One call. No warning, no time to call back. Simply gave the truck that I reserved away (Seinfeld: you know how to take the reservation - but not how to KEEP the reservation). When I called them, they indicated that my earlier call was not answered in time so it rolled to their corporate dispatch. And corporate did not get the message of my pickup time to them. My stance was simple: It does not matter if the fault is U-Haul corporate or your local franchise. It is all U-Haul to the customer. The only truck they were able to locate for me was at another location and considerably smaller than what I booked. This ended up costing us $225 more in labor and mileage due to increased time with our movers (movers I booked through the U-Haul service). When I called customer (dis)service, they took my information and promised a call back. Instead I received an email with a $25 credit toward my next purchase. I will never be using this credit because I will not ever grace them with my business. I encourage everyone to consider Penske, Budget, Enterprise or anyone else. both the West Colfax and U-Haul corporate failed here. read more

If I could have given 0 stars I would have! We had the displeasure of dealing with Danielle Mutch at the Golden Location. Hands down, the rudest person I've ever dealt with at U Haul! She conveniently failed to mention that the truck she rented us was an "in-town" truck. So we proceeded to drive 93 miles to our new home. We assumed that we could drop it off at the nearest U Haul rental office, like it's always been! Well, no dice! There is a U Haul office literally a block away! However, Danielle Mutch told us if we did drop if off at that location, we'd be charged $800! The "contract" that she emailed us was nothing but a garbled mess of numbers, letters and symbols. After calling the corporate office and speaking with 2 different "managers" we were told that it was our problem and there was nothing we could do about it. So now we are driving it back to Golden at .79 a mile, plus gas and a $60 penalty fee. I will NEVER use U Haul again! I'm telling every friend and family member I know to STAY AWAY! It's a SCAM! U Haul is not what it used to be. Very disappointed. read more
