Budget Truck Rental is happy to allow you to reserve vehicles that don't exist and then charge you…read morea "no-show" fee. They don't appear to have any kind of inventory tracking system. I made a reservation days in advance and received a call 30 minutes before I was scheduled to pick up my truck informing me they had zero trucks available against 10 outgoing rentals. I called customer service in an attempt to rectify the situation and of course their "system is down". What a jack-leg operation. Avoid at all costs.

Seem to be running a scam…read more Rented a truck here, and returned it after hours. Drop box for keys not available. Nowhere to put keys. Left in the truck. Manager? called 2 days later looking for the truck, which had been on their lot the entire time. Stated that they had to get *their* locksmith to get the key out of the truck, that no other locksmith could possibly do it, and they didn't have a copy of the key because "corporate won't let us"??? Luckily I had AAA at the time, who came out and opened the door right away. I think this manager/worker is just running a scam to give work to a buddy or something. I've never gone back.

Based on our first experience, we immediately chose the Chester location Penske again. For our first move, we shopped the competing carriers and Penske offered the best price. Fortunately, the service was also great so we immediately contacted Penske again this time. We picked the truck up when the office opened. There were none of the delays that happen at some businesses when staff aren't quite ready for the day. Here, everything went smoothly and quickly. The moving blankets were ready as was the hand truck. Penske even threw in more blankets at no cost. We loaded the truck that day and took off for Texas the next. There were enough days built into the price to cover the trip, unloading into a storage unit, and then returning the truck. We realized when we returned the truck that we had forgotten to ask for the veteran's discount. We had worked with Andrew in arranging the rental and were very impressed with his courtesy and expertise. We contacted him about the issue of the discount and he immediately arranged for our card to be credited. So, while another long drive to Texas promises to be only so much fun, we're glad to be making the arrangements again with Penske in Chester.

We have always had great experiences with renting Penske trucks...until now. We needed a truck to…read moremove our storage unit contents from Virginia to another state. We rented a 16 foot truck. We had driven up in a rental car and were at a hotel nearby on a Sunday. We could not rent the truck until Monday. We had reserved the truck for 11:00 on Monday.....reserved a week ahead of time. We received a phone call Monday morning at 10:30 from Penske asking us if we could drive 20 miles to pick up the truck because they had not delivered a truck to the location 1 mile from the hotel. They informed us that we would have to wait until 12:30 for a truck to be brought to us. This We had to return the rental car at 11:00, again at the rental car office 1.5 miles from the hotel. We would have no transportation to the Penske truck rental office. We drove the rental car to the Penske truck rental place near the hotel where we were supposed to get the truck. We had to return the car, so we were left to stay outside of the Penske office with our dog and luggage to wait for an hour and a half on a truck. Once the truck came, we left to go to our storage unit. We loaded the truck for 6 and one half hours. It was after 7pm and we took off to get on the highway. The truck was feeling awkward and unstable to steer. My husband got out and decided to check the tire pressure. It was fine. He did discover that several tires had dry rot cracks around the rims and that one tire had previously been "curbed" and had about a 3 inch piece of the sidewall missing. He decided the truck was too dangerous to put on the road. We had to spend another night in the hotel to wait on the Penske office to open. We called them the next morning and they asked us to drive the truck 20 miles again to another location where a mechanic could look at it.....it was too dangerous to drive and they wanted US to drive it to them. We called their corporate office and they agreed to send a mechanic to us. In the mean time, we had a Sears mechanic at the location near the hotel inspect the tires and they said they would not send a truck on the road with the tire with the sidewall damaged. It was too dangerous. The Penske mechanic showed up in a few hours and said the truck was just fine, the tires were fine and that we had simply overloaded the truck. What BS! We asked for a larger truck then and they said they did not have one. We then had no choice but to go to a U-Haul up the street and rent a similar sized truck to complete our move. We had to transfer all of our things in the rain to the other truck. The U-Haul folks looked at the Penske tires and said they would never send out a truck in that condition on the road. It would not be safe. We had no problems with the U-Haul truck on the trip. When we returned home, we saw that we had been charged by Penske for the full amount for the move, even though we did not drive the truck more than 7 miles the whole time. They were not at all concerned about our bill or our safety. We wanted people to know of this inconsiderate company...from asking us to drive 20 miles to pick up a truck they were supposed to have waiting on us at the location we were to be leaving from to the billing of a truck that was unsafe and that we did not even use. Not to mention....we missed a full day of work and pay because we were late getting home due to them. Thanks a lot Penske. We will no longer be referring friends and aquaintances to your company.
