These 5 star reviews are probably fake. Upack ruined my things twice in a row. Almost total loss and coverage is shamefully covering .10 per lb. Scuff marks and extreme vibration can be seen in containers once they arrive. I had a professional packing both times, uses blankets and wrap and the vibration wore through the items traveling from PHL to ABQ. I paid $3000 and im out probably $5000. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they will ruin everything you own. read more

Very happy with my cross-country move from New York to Los Angeles with U-pack! It was easy to book a relocation cube and their customer portal lays out information extremely clearly. Communication was great and my pod arrived on time for loading. The trip itself only took 7 days from NY to LA! Oscar from the Orange facility in LA is the friendliest person ever :) He made our day by delivering our pod at 5pm on a Friday, after we requested a last-minute delivery. They also picked up the cube in a timely manner as well. Our stuff arrived intact. Only cost $2200ish for this move. Highly recommend! read more

From start to finish, my experience with this service was above expectations. I started a quote online for one ReloCube that would need to go from NJ to FL. It sat in my "account" for weeks before doing anything with it and when it became time to get more serious I needed more information before pulling the trigger. So, I called... The person I spoke to was extremely helpful. They answered all the questions I had and with everything sounding good to go it was time to book it. Then hearing that summer was their peak moving time and that people usually book a couple of months in advance I thought I should have done this sooner! Well, there was a cancellation in the coming week, so I took the slot! When it came time for the ReloCube to be delivered it was actually easy to call the local service center for ABF. It was nice to begin talking to someone who was actually listening when I booked the move. Speaking to someone who actually seemed to care at the local dispatch point was unexpected. The delivery happened a bit after my scheduled window of time, but this was communicated to be the case when I called them for an update. The person that delivered the ReloCube took time to explain how to open, close, and lock it. I still needed to buy a lock but what I did not know is that more or less these Cubes are always inside trailers or a building, so the lock is extra protection but not the primary protection. His only other words of advice for me was to pack it tight. Yes, I think reading one of the reviews somewhere a person talked about how you just need to make sure things can't shift around. Like packing a trunk of a car. I think as with an empty room the Cube seems bigger than it actually is. If you really need to move 100% of what you have, and you have big items, I would take the time to plan the pack out on paper. Yes, I really mean this. For me, not everything had to go, but getting some local labor to help I wanted to take advantage of it as much as possible. In the end, I had to scratch my head a few times to figure out the load in, but I got it on paper and when the labor was here there was zero extra time needed to sort that out. I just told them what went where and it was all good. To help keep the large items from moving around I bought Ratchet Tie-Down Straps with S-Hooks from Home Depot. They were cheap enough that I did not care if they made it back this way again. As for the items inside the ReloCube, "shrink" wrap, cardboard, and those fiber shopping bags (if you live in NJ and do InstaCart you know what I mean) were keys to a tight pack. Done and locked I scheduled a pickup. Though I did not need to be there I saw it on its way. Amazingly the ABF number can be entered in the Parcel app I used to track Amazon, UPS, USPS, etc, and it actually seemed to give a better sense as to where it was than the actual tracking website. On the other end it arrived at the very beginning of the delivery window (in days) which was wonderful. The driver on that side was probably the only ding I could give the entire process. A bit too much in a rush to the point where I really didn't think he was listening to me. However, the Cube was eventually placed where I wanted it and when I opened it up it looked like it never left New Jersey. I unloaded, remembered to not lock it up, and scheduled the pickup, which happened without my further interaction. As for value? I did not get quotes from anywhere else. Considering the smoothness of the process I experienced I would certainly use them again though I think the space inside the Cube might be a challenge for certain items. We will see... read more

I used U-Pack to move cross-country/border from NYC to Vancouver, BC, Canada, leveraging the shared trailer service and self-packing and picking up at their respective U-Pack locations. The cross-country service only took 7 business days and paid ~US$3500 for 6 linear feet of trailer space, which is very reasonable for a cross country/transborder mover (in comparison to PODS and a private pod similar space would have been ~US$5500). My experience was very positive and pretty seamless for such big move. My interactions were customer service on-site at both locations was 10/10 and they were very helpful in assisting with issues I had with bulkhead/divider wall. Tracking of the trailer was simple via a link but I also had an AirTag in my belongings :) The only slight annoyance I had in NYC was I told to wait for a call from trailer driver to notify when the trailer was onsite at the U-Pack facility (they give a broad 4-hour window)- the call never came, and I had hourly movers helping me so i just went ahead and arrived on-site at the beginning of the 4- hour window (glad i did as the trailer was already there). Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend them for a move across country or into Canada. read more

Just quick reminder, U-Pack trailers don't have the sophisticated air suspension like you see on professional moving company trucks. They were clear, easy to deal with (one 5 minute call versus hours on the phone with other pod companies), and expert in what they did. Every delivery was right on time, and they set my mind at ease for making a move into an intense urban environment--they have a service center right in Brooklyn and have moving people there for 20 years. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! The trailer that Upack used for our cross country move had a hole in the roof in the top front of the trailer. A hole big enough for lots and lots of water to leak thru. WHAT KIND OF MOVING SERVICE WOULD HAVE A FAMILY LOAD THEIR POSSESSIONS INTO A FAULTY TRAILER????? Tons of our cardboard boxes and everything in them, were completely soaked thru and items ruined. Many of the boxes are moldy. Once they were wet enough, they collapsed adding to the damage. When I called to report this I was told I would have to fill out claim forms. An almost impossible and crazy time consuming task given how many boxes were soaked and how many items are in each box. In addition we have to hurry and unpack the wet boxes quickly to avoid more damage. The person I spoke with could not have sounded more disengaged. I get the feeling that their MO is to drown you in paperwork and make you go away. Even more disconcerting is that the person didn't seem all that surprised to hear about the leak. SO SO DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY!!! I know damage can occur in a move but can not believe it is due to a leak in the truck. We spent over $10,000 for a horrible experience. I highly recommend using U-Pack if you're doing a smaller move and looking for something that is more cost-effective. I moved from Texas to Connecticut and chose the relocube. I only had boxes and very limited furniture, so this ended up being the best option for me. I am thankful that I discovered this company through Reddit because it ended up being a fraction of the cost compared to other moving companies. Nothing was damaged other than some storage tote lids, which I was warned about by other users online (at no fault to the company). Will definitely recommend U-Pack to others! read more

I recently used upack to move from NYC to Denver. After researching many different moving companies, I was discouraged by either the prices or the poor reviews of other companies. I finally settled on upack who seemed to be very affordable and had good feedback online. Upack exceeded my expectations, especially for the price! Living in Queens, our street was very narrow and did not allow overnight parking for the relocubes. Luckily upack had a "live load" option where they brought the cubes in front of my apartment using a smaller forklift which fit on my street, and did a "live load" where they retrieved the cube after 4 hours. They estimated 8-10 business days for my cube to arrive to Denver. The cube ended up arriving at the service center in Denver after 3 business days!!!! From there, I had to schedule a drop off at my new apartment, which did take another 3 business days to get a slot. Once the cubes were dropped off, we were able to unpack at our leisure and schedule for the cubes to be picked up when we were done (next business day for us, but we could have kept it longer). Now that I've unpacked my boxes, I can say there is no damage to any of my stuff. One thing to note, you are required to pack and unpack the cubes yourself (hence the name U pack). We hired movers independently to help with packing and unpacking. Even with this additional cost, upack beat the prices of any other reputable moving company I found in my research. On this same note, you need to make sure you pack the cubes tightly so things do not shift around and break. Even if things do break, you are liable since you packed it yourself. Upack will not cover any breakage due to packing with their insurance. All in all, I plan on recommending upack to my family and friends that are also planning cross country moves. read more

Upack delivered out truck as promised. We had plenty of time to load the truck. The truck was not delivered as promised. We were told we could schedule a time for drop off either morning or afternoon. when we called the local office at our destination, they said we wybe the last delivery as the commercial work comes first and the delivery could be as late as 8 pm. We had to cancel the people we hired to help us move. The company was not able to compromise at all. make sure that you get the delivery time I. Wri prior to sign with them or make arrangements to have your delivery the day before you need it. In our case this was not a option since we were flying in and had to be there to find a drop off spot at the apartment complex. read more

Starting off, this was my first time using U-Pack because I recently moved and needed a box. I usually use the Uhaul storage box but they went up in price almost double. After looking at some reviews I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. My move was from Houston, TX to Brooklyn, NY. 1. Comparing the box, Upack relocube was slightly bigger and it was a metal box instead of a wooden box. There were vents on the box so my belongings did not have any smell of "storage". While my box was being loaded, there was a big rainy day and nothing inside got wet or felt moist/humid inside. Upack +1 2. Upack relocube was delievered from door to door and did not charge me an arm and leg for it. Comparing the price, Upack was $1800 from door to door. U-Haul was $2600 where I have to load and unload my stuff at their storage location. Upack +1 3. Upack drivers who dropped off and picked up my box from beginning to end was very friendly, nice, experienced, and kept in touch. They called and let me know when they were 30 min away and then 5 min away again. Upack +1 4. From when I first got the quote, I was given all the info. There was no hidden fees no extra fees. Told I won't be charged until after I finish loading and when the box is in transit. All came out to be true. I was satisfied with all the information. I was also given a tracking number to track my box. I was able to see updates of where it was at all times and when it finally arrived I made an appointment for delivery to my door right away. Upack +1 5. I was given 4 hours to unload live due to laws here but I was able to unload with a few friends within 25 minutes. Driver didn't have to wait long. Upack +1 6. My box was filled with 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment worth of stuff. I didn't have much furnitures but it definitely fit a lot of stuff. I have 30+ moving boxes, storage totes/bins, computer desks, queen size mattress , a whole bunch of stuff. I packed everything very evenly so nothing came damaged or out of place. Everything was exactly how I packed it. Just to be clear, I also did not use any type of furniture padding or bubble wraps or anything like that. All my glass, plates, photo frames all came perfectly fine. If you pack it right and organize the stuff evenly, it wouldn't sway or tumble around inside. Because let's be honest, when you put stuff in your trunk, if you ain't putting it right, your groceries and stuff gonna go side to side when you make turns. Because these trucks are so big and heavy, how fast you think they be turning? Not fast of course. It's different if maybe your box came ALL messed up then maybe someone dropped it in the process when they were taking it off the truck with a forklift. But normally it shouldn't be all too messed up or damaged inside if we just pack it right. Let's just say overall I'm happy to say this move did not disappoint. Deliberately unhelpful an uncommunicative. During container delivery, someone was parked in my reserved parking spot. Normally this is not a problem - I ask the owner to move the car or worst case have it towed. Instead, U-Pack decided not to deliver the container and leave without calling or texting me. I only found out hours later when I called them to ask why the trailer has not arrived yet. This ended up delaying my move 3 days! But it gets worse! At the destination, U-Pack said (over the phone, again no email or text to confirm) the container would be at the destination for 4 hours, between noon and 4pm. I booked a moving company to unload the container at noon, but turns out they actually meant the container will arrive at any point between noon and 4pm. I ended up paying for hours of extra labor because they couldn't communicate the arrival time. Overall, upack: - wasted $1000 of my money on hotels and wasted labor fees - delayed my move in by 3 days - caused me tons of unnecessary stress They may be cheaper than PODS or UHaul, but STAY AWAY! Much cheaper than any other company I called and they gave me a $150 discount. I was not charged until my items were delivered. I found customer service very helpful and friendly. Communication was great. I love that they provided a tracking link so I could see where my upack was. Driver for pick up and delivery came when they said they would. I travelled from FL-Brooklyn and my upack arrived 3 days early. They held my pod until my desired date. A few very minor items broke during the move but most things were in good shape. I would absolutely use them again. Especially convenient if you're moving into a busy city. The parked my upack in a street parking right in front of my building. I hired u-pack after the first moving company I hired fell through. U-pack representatives were extremely helpful in answering any concerns I had and made the process very easy. I liked that I was able to track where my trailer was through the u-pack online dashboard. One thing I noted was that the slots on the trailer wall are 2ft increments. I was quoted for a 6ft linear length but the 6ft length ended up being in the middle of the 5ft and 7ft mark. I called the customer service and they noted that they will only charge me for 6ft. When I first got the final bill I saw that I was charged for 7ft but I called u-pack and the fixed it immediately. I appreciated the prompted in fixing the billing errors. read more

We used U-Pack to move from Brooklyn to Dallas, Texas and overall had a very positive experience overall. We did a few things that definitely helped out and having finished the move, have a few pointers I hope everyone else will find helpful. All in, moved a 2 bedroom NYC apartment with too much stuff ALL IN for under $3,500 (U-Pack - 7 feet - $2,700 / Movers - $375+tip / $400 in moving supplies). Our stuff arrived in 5 business days and everyone we interacted with (Drivers + DIspatch) were friendly and helpful 1) For us, U-Pack used their own trucks and trailers, all branded as such. I saw other reviewers say U-Pack subcontracted (see pic) 2) U-Pack really only provide the trailer - EVERYTHING else is self service (see pic) 3) I got a quote from U-Pack's referred moving company and I think I would have had a bad experience if I had relied on their proposal of 2 movers for 2 hours 4) I used "Moving Your Way" - info@movingyourway.com - who offered 3 movers for 3 hours at $375 + Tip. They did a great job packing and I'm super happy with them. Key value add - our dining table needed disassembly. THey had the tools and took care of it right away. We were done in 2.5 hours 5) U-Pack offers a 4 hour delivery window. We paid an extra $75 to get a 2 hour delivery window. THis worked perfectly as we had movers come 1 hour into the 2 hour window. If the truck was there late, they could still move all of the stuff downstairs. (U-Pack was 8am-10am delivery window and would stay 4 hours for a NYC "Live Load". We had our movers come from 9am - noon") 6) We boxed everything in standard sized Home Depot boxes. They packed really well as Tetris. I love that they charge you only for the space you use. It's realistically in 2 feet increments though 7) Home Depot standard strength boxes, SOME WILL GET CRUSHED. If you have delicates, get the heavy duty boxes! The truck was on the road for 24 hours + and it's just a fact of life 8) Things in the truck will get DUSTY. Wrap and seal everything. We got a bulk pack of Amazon Basic tape and taped everything tight. Never had to worry about running out 9) Padlock requirements for the U-Pack is super precise. You're average padlock will not work! The driver was super helpful in unlocking the truck 11) HAVE EXTRA PEOPLE AROUND WHEN YOU OPEN THE TRUCK! It's just a piece of plywood holding up boxes that have been on the road for over 24 hours. Although well packed, this will tumble. Fortunately, nothing broke, but this is part of the preparation. We had plenty of time to unpack, so we did it ourselves. 12) Pick up was smooth when we called dispatch. They were super friendly. Note the app had a Monday Pickup, dispatch was able to book Friday. Overall, I think U-Pack is an excellent service and offers tremendous value for money, but you need to be prepared - well packed boxes, wrap + the right padlock. I think we saved well over $2000 vs the other quotes we received received. We didn't move anything too fragile, but really, I viewed packing as my responsibility. They charged us for expedited shipping but after our trailer was picked up they told us that it wouldn't get delivered until a later date. So of course we asked for them to refund the extra shipping charge- they said no that they couldn't. For those going to move I think it's important to understand that upack is a broker. All they do is contact the moving companies and get you booked. You're better off to just call the moving companies directly. We got booked with old dominion. Funny thing is- we saw one of their trucks on the road months ago and we said oh we should call them. But for whatever stupid reason- we still used upack not knowing that they are just a broker. read more

While researching my options online, I read that u-pack had some questionable customer service. My own experience was quite the opposite! Even during the pandemic with everyone losing their shit, everyone I spoke to with u pack was kind and professional. Most of all, no one was racist! As a chinese person, or any poc for that matter, you never know these days. Driver dude was chill and easy going, and the guys at the depot were patient and welcoming. Special shout out to Sylvana on the California end, who was a homie. All my shit made it across the country safely and in record time. I will say though, it seems like the cube is a rough ride. My stuff arrived pretty jostled and my furniture was scratched, but that's partially my fault for not packing better. My stuff isn't anything fancy so it's chill, but if you're shipping fragile collectibles or rare furniture, I would choose a diff option. However, if you're trying to get out of a city in a hurry, u pack is a brilliant choice. read more

Without being lengthy... U-Pack was perhaps the best kept 'not secret' secret!! My wife and I moved from Brooklyn, NY, to Charlotte, NC. I received quotes from 3 different companies that were astronomical. I began to feel defeated, then I spoke with a friend that told me about ABF Freight. So I looked up ABF and found that U-Pack and ABF are pretty much the same company. Long story less long; I got a quote from them that was thousands less than what I was originally quoted. The only thing is I would have had to pack my own things. I thought, well that's fine. right? Once packing and pain set in, we were like nope! We are not packing the truck at all. So the trick is to hire a moving company to pack the truck for us. We subsequently found a company for about $200 give or take to do the packing. They were also phenomenal!!! Remember when I said U-Pack saved us thousands? Well one quote from another company was about $7500. I'm not going to quote the exact U-Pack price but it was less than a third of that cost. Okay I know I said I wasn't goin to be lengthy but I had to paint an accurate picture. U-Pack is the truth!! Thank you guys for a wonderful moving experience. 10 Star company! read more

We moved from Seattle to Central Florida and UPack was a good choice, at least on the Seattle end. We needed a full 28' trailer which they subcontracted to Old Dominion. Everything arrived on time with all necessary equipment (ramp and hand truck) and UPack was available to answer questions as we loaded the trailer. It was picked up during the timeframe given and all was good. Since we filled the trailer, Old Dominion came by separately to pick up the ramp and hand truck and assured us that they would be delivered by the local Old Dominion location when the trailer was delivered. Not only was it not delivered before the trailer arrived, we were lied to twice about when it would arrive. As a last resort we contacted UPack who ultimately gave us a refund of $250 because that was what it cost us to pay the overtime to movers we hired to unload....they did the whole thing WITHOUT a ramp so it took way longer to do. So one star deducted because UPack believed Old Dominion instead of us, the people who paid them. read more

The whole process was smooth with reasonable price. The only reason I removed one star from this was waiting for the driver to arrive was such a pain. The time slot for delivery at my origin location was 8am-12pm, been waiting for the driver to call me since 7am on that day and the driver arrived around noon time. For my destination delivery, they told me 9am-5pm, the driver could be arrived anytime on that day..again the driver didn't arrive until 5:30pm. Since I need to coordinate with the moving staff as well, it was super inefficient to waste the half/whole day on waiting for all of us. If U-Pack could improve on the time slots and be more precise with the appointments, that would be great. BTW the drivers are super nice, nothing to complain about. read more

Overall a good experience. Trailer arrived (both when loading and then unloading) within the specified hour window. Drivers on both days were professional and courteous. The driver on the day I loaded even assisted us with some of the more awkwardly large and heavy items. For the price, hard to beat. Didn't have to drive a moving truck myself and deal with all that would have entailed (gas, tolls, parking). And no professional moving company was able to guarantee and day and time for delivery like U-pack did. However, what you should consider before signing up: No insurance through U-pack; I advise confirming your home/renters insurance will cover your move. The freight U-pack loads in front of yours may be dirty/dusty; there was a perceptible layer of dirt across all of my items. Be sure to protect the bottom of your items; my trailer traveled from NYC to San Antonio, and the resulting vibrations destroyed the casters on the bottom of a refrigerator. read more

I recently moved across the country (Portland to NYC) and couldn't just rent a UHaul and drive like I have for every other move. After a bunch of research, U-Pack kept showing up in the top options for shipping cubes that'd fit my needs (the equivalent of a studio apartment) and budget (it cost just under $1500). The Relo-Cube arrived right on time, and the delivery guy was super friendly and stuck around to chat about my move and future plans. The cube is far more spacious than I thought it was - looking back, I left a bunch of furniture because they weren't expensive and I thought they'd be a hassle to move, but I could've easily fit everything. Boxes of books, a desktop computer, a bunch of kitchen stuff, duffel bags worth of clothes, a bike, and I still only made a layer mostly one box high, probably only using a quarter of the total space. Lesson learned! The cube is also super sturdy - I was thrown off by UHaul's wooden frame and canvas siding, as that seemed terribly fragile. But solid steel walls with a ton of slots for tie-down straps meant I felt very confident about my items being safe. All the customer service reps I spoke to were knowledgeable and very helpful in answering my questions. Moving to NYC in a pandemic, I had to hire a moving company to go get my items, but it was super easy to authorize them to move my stuff for me. My experience with U-Pack Brooklyn was great and the man on the phone with me was extremely helpful and patient with me. However I didn't realize that the time given to me was a window in which they may arrive anytime. I thought that I would only have exactly 4 to 8 pm to load my things. The driver did come to me before 8 and it all worked out, but I imagine if people had hired moving help it would be hard to schedule. I was moving to DC, and unfortunately U-Pack Maryland really pales in comparison. The lady was hard to talk to and not negotiable, even though before booking with U-Pack I'd talked to their main customer service about arranging for a specific unloading window due to my apartment rules and making sure that it was okay with them. Lady refused to acknowledge that or help. The drivers were both very nice. I end up having to solve my problem in DC with the driver (James) who was way more capable than customer service. U-Pack was a bit more expensive than other moving pod services, but I had a last minute move and U-Pack was able to deliver. read more

The staff at U-Pack is friendly and the Relocube was perfect for my move. But the website dashboard needs to be a lot more user friendly. I had reserved the Relocube for an 8/23 cube deliver in Elmhurst, NY with Rochester, NY as the final destination about a week later. I told them I would let them know when I needed the cube. So online I requested the cube be delivered to Rochester on 8/30 for my move in date. This changed my 8/23 cube delivery to Elmhurst, NY to 8/30 without me realizing it. So cute we waited 10 hours for the cube to be delivered with ABF having no record of my move. A couple friendly staff people helped me get my move back on track. My advice would be to make any adjustments to your move by phone, not on the dashboard. read more

Okay, so this is the best deal for cross-country moving, but you need to know a few things to make this work. We compared pricing, and managed to move everything from New York to California for $2,000 less than the next best option (a PODS container). Here are my suggestions: 1. If you live anywhere that can't have a full-on trailer park on your street, hire a moving company to pick up your things at your place and take it to the ABF terminal. You'll save a couple hundred dollars from ABF, which you can use to pay movers (who you were probably going to hire anyway to help you get your stuff out of your house/apartment). 2. Wrap all furniture in moving blankets, and WRAP THEM IN PLASTIC WRAP (including the bottom). Also, pack most of your boxes so that if they get turned sideways, it will be okay. Your movers might need to play a little "Tetris" with your boxes, and anything that isn't glass / plates / fragile might need to be turned sideways to pack it in tight. 3. Bring a ladder, bungee cords, and packing straps with you to the ABF terminal. Go ahead and hook the straps and bungee cords to the top sides of the trailer (using the ladder) when you arrive, before you put anything in the trailer. Pull them a few feet out and hook them to the side so that you can access them once you have some boxes in there. Throw down a tarp on the bottom of the trailer if you have one. The bottom of the trailer might get a little wet, and this (along with wrapping your furniture in moving blankets and plastic wrap) will save you from having warped / ruined furniture. Once all your things are in, you'll need to use the bungee cords and straps to secure your stuff, because it WILL shift backwards during the trip, and you don't want the partition being the only thing holding all your stuff when you go to unload it (because it will all fall on you). 4. You are going to need movers and/or a friendly union worker at the terminal to secure the partition. The partition consists of two 8-foot-tall heavy wooden doors with metal braces that lock into the trailer walls and connect to each other. The partition separates your stuff from the commercial goods that they'll put in after you load your stuff in. If we hadn't had a friendly ABF union worker secure the partition for us (along with our movers), I'm not sure how we would have done it. 5. When you unload at the ABF terminal at your destination, hire movers to help you unload the trailer into their moving truck and take your stuff to your new home. Again, you'll save a couple hundred bucks that you can use to hire movers at your arrival city. Also, they can back their moving truck up to the trailer, which is very helpful. If they don't have a ladder, they'll have to climb on your furniture to pull down whatever boxes were stacked to the 9-foot-tall ceiling, which is how our weak IKEA dresser broke. It was the only thing that broke in the move, but it was already on it's way out, so we didn't feel too bad about losing it. We did the whole ABF move for $2,680 plus movers each side, which ended up costing about $3,500 for a cross-country move from New York to California! Our movers packed our boxes to the ceiling, which meant we only had to pay the 5 foot minimum U-Pack trailer charge. You can do it too - just plan ahead! read more
