After cleaning out Mom's house, there were a few things to take from Ohio to California. Mainly the desk my dad built. It seemed a big headache and cost to think about trying to rent a truck and do it myself. I was going to just forego taking the items but my kids said I would regret it. So I did a lot of research. I chose U-Pack for cross-country shipping and couldn't be happier. It was so super easy and affordable. I don't hand out "amazing" compliments often , but the whole process was AMAZING! They helped from beginning to end and they were in contact step by step. Everyone was super nice, professional and prompt. The unit was securely built and arrived clean. My brother, the packing guru, used straps to secure items. When I opened the door upon arrival in California, not a thing was out of place or damaged. It truly could not have been easier. We emptied the unit at our leisure (3 day window) and they promptly picked it up. I'm so glad I arranged to have items shipped. My kids were right - I would gave regretted not having my dad's desk. Moving across the country is ordinarily a challenging process. U-Pack made it hassle-free. We called U-Pack, got a very reasonable quote (especially reasonable compared to competitors) and had a moving container delivered exactly when we needed it. The customer service was impeccable each time we communicated. Once dropped off, we had three days to pack it up and lock it and they took care of everything from there. They moved the unit from Ohio to MN and even stored it for us for a small fee until we could move in. They dropped the storage unit in front on our move day and had it picked up and out of the way the next day. Highly recommended!!! read more

I was happy with the U pack experience until it was almost over. I packed myself, my children loaded the cubes, and the driver picked them up in a timely manner. They were delivered to my home in NC when they were expected with no damage. We did pack very tightly so no movement inside cube I called on a Monday to have the picked up and was promised for Tuesday. I was happy as they were blocking the access for my refrigerator delivery on Wednesday Called them at 4:30pm on Tuesday to tell them they needed to be gone before noon on Wednesday and was told to not worry, truck would still get them Tuesday evening. Needless to say, I had to call at 10am Wednesday as still there. Finally got picked up at 1pm after I had to cancel refrigerator delivery. Ended good experience on Bad note! read more

After my grandmother used them, I would never use them. They threw tons of glassware in with other stuff, just in trash bags, not wrapped or protected at all. Quite a bit if her China was broken, so they generously knocked 200 bucks off her move, after charging her 1200 more than quoted because they didn't anticipate how many men it would take. Nothing was labeled, everything was just dumped off, total nightmare. Total cost was$5300, after being quoted $4100, and the majority of her stuff in her house was either in dressers that didn't need packed, or already packed in totes. My girlfriend and I recently relocated from Cleveland, OH to Austin,TX so there will be very similar reviews for both locations as we had encounters with both. I must say the whole experience was awesome just about the whole way through. The cubes were to be dropped off between 8am and noon, and got there around 11am. The driver answered all of our questions, and even suggested ways to pack the cube to get the most bang for our buck. I called the next day to schedule our pickup of the cubes for when we left Ohio and they explained the process and one of the best perks is that you do not have to be there when then pick up the cubes to ship. They even give you a tracking number so you can monitor your cubes journey to your new destination. Great service, and way better than driving a Uhaul truck across the country! read more

I thought I would be leaving a 5-star review for u-Pack because of how easy it was to get the trailer delivered, packed, and to the destination city. However when it came time for ABF freight or whoever it is that actually delivers the trailers to the destination address, I definitely had a zero star experience. Was given a four hour window for delivery (8am to 12pm). It's now 2 pm and the driver is nowhere to be found. I've called 4-5 times today for status updates because the movers I hired to unpack the trailer are arriving now (at 2pm). The ladies answering the phones are polite enough but will clearly tell you anything to get you off the phone including lie about when your driver left or where he is. While writing this review I just received an automated phone call saying my trailer would arrive within one hour... that makes 7 hours of pacing this empty house waiting for them to deliver. For $1900, I just feel like the people at this company should be more considerate of customers' time and be better able to approximate the actual time of delivery. read more

Setting up the move was easy. Rates are definitely competitive. It was easy to schedule delivery and pickup of the pod on the front end. Unfortunately they could not deliver the pod directly to our new home, so we had to unload our pod into a Uhaul at their transport center. That part was an utter nightmare. Nobody seems to know what the pickup hours are. Ask 3 people, you will get 3 answers. This resulted in us spending 150 on a uhaul, driving 2 hours, and showing up to find the center closed. I reccomend this company only if they offer door to door in your area. read more

The delivery of the trailers initially to our home went great, the staff was informative and helpful. HOWEVER, once the trailers were picked up from our home and headed to our new home, all communication stopped. After spending hours on the phone to different terminals and customer service reps...we got a delivery day and timeframe. I reminded them MULTIPLE TIMES we needed ramps and 2 wheeled dollies. The trucks were dropped at our new home at 8:30 am, with no ramps or dollies. The driver assured us they would be there within 1/2 an hour, 2 hours later were not there. I had hired movers ($50 hourly per guy times 5 guys) to help unload the truck at this point as the driver had said ramps were on the way. After a second call to dispatch/customer care, I again was assured they were on the way. 2 hours later, a third call was made...same assurance. I asked for a supervisor to call me back...no call. Finally, at 4 pm, they arrived. Workers were scheduled until 5. I lost over $1600 in wages due to THEIR ERROR. When I called UPACK, they said it was not their fault, I shouldnt have hired movers yet until the next day......what!!!??? So disappointing!!!! read more

Never having moved an entire house of belongings before, I had no prior experience with moving companies. We were moving from Ohio to California, so it had to be done in one trip. I decided to go with a container cube, as it was more economical than the option of a moving truck. We gave away or disposed of a lot before packing, taking only the absolute minimum. A small cube holds a surprising amount of furniture and boxes. But order an extra cube at first just in case you need it, and there's no charge to return one if it turns out you don't. There were five main criteria I considered when I chose U-Pack: Price, cube type and size, how the cube would be delivered and fit on our property, pickup and return policy and user reviews. All but one were comparable to Pods. Both companies' small cube size and composition, level transport, delivery policies and good reviews were similar. However, U-Pack pricing was significantly lower, for us by over $1000 for one small cube! Also, due to the method Pods uses to deliver the cube, it would not have allowed us to keep it behind the house, where it would be out of sight of the street (be sure you check for space clearance before committing). I rejected U-Haul, mostly because their cubes seemed flimsy and possibly not waterproof, and Pack Rat, because of mixed user reviews and complaints about poor service. Users who complained across the board about their items ending up jostled and broken must not have packed their cubes securely enough, because our items arrived exactly as we packed them. Pack it as if the cube would be shaken like a can of paint in a paint store, and your stuff should be fine. The drivers at both ends of the trip were very polite and professional. They really knew how to operate a forklift to finesse the cube into precise position. The support staff were very easy to work with on the phone, helping me with all of the small details with patience and good humor. The Northern Ohio folks were easy to reach, and delivery and pickup of the cube was very prompt. The Oakland office didn't answer their phone the several times I tried calling, so I had to get to them through the main office. We were scheduled for a delivery between 1 and 5 p.m. but didn't get it until 7:30, which inconvenienced us. That would have been fine had they called us early on to tell us that they were so behind schedule. Also, they kept calling our old, disconnected phone number in Ohio, even though I gave them two cell numbers as well. So communication could have been much better in California, but otherwise service was excellent. I highly recommend this company for their ReloCubes. read more

I found this more stressful than other types of long distance moving because everything had to fall into place rather than being able to plan exact dates/times. However, it worked out fine for me and fell in to place exactly as I'd hoped! My only real complaint is that you need a lot more room to park this trailer than the "2 Honda Civic" car length they described to me before booking, the drivers arrived and said they need more like 9 car lengths to get it in to place so it is not ideal for every situation. It's not quite as flexible as a POD but it was definitely a little cheaper. *if you are using this long distance, the trailer/suspension is made for freight, you have to hire a really good mover to pack your stuff in to it if you don't want broken things. My stuff was in there like a high skilled game of Tetris and it really reduced the amount of damage to my belongings, but you can tell the boxes really took a beating on the way down, they are not reusable. I used tons of moving blankets as well and I only ended up with minimal damage to a few pieces.* I'd recommend it, but I'm not convinced it saved me a ton of money. We moved from Alabama to outside of Cleveland. We used U-Pack because of a recommendation from a friend of the family. This specific U-Pack held our trailer for 2 weeks after it was picked up from Alabama because we weren't able to move into our house right away in Ohio. They picked our truck up right away from Alabama and drove it to the Parma location where it was stored for the two weeks. Not only was it safely stored but we weren't charged for the storage. I called them to alert them the night before I needed it delivered. The delivery day, my trailer was set for a delivery of 1-4 pm however come 4 pm no trailer arrived so I called to check on it. The driver said he was running late which was no problem. The trailer arrived that evening. The whole next day we unloaded. It was a Friday evening and even though they close by 5, they came and removed the empty trailer from our home by 8 pm so our driveway would be free. When we received our charge we were over charged for extra space used however the gentleman who helped us was extremely helpful. We forwarded an image of our truck with correct used footage. They refunded us the extra. All in all, we were extremely happy with our moving experience with U-pack and would definitely recommend it. When we unloaded however we did hire two young guys to help us unload because with U-Pack it's just the trailer you pay for and someone to drive it to your new location. It worked very well for us and we will definitely use them again for our next move. read more
