This is a conversation piece that I've had with people all over the world. I've told them that U-Pick-it in Prescott Valley, AZ charges you to get in! The analogy that I give, it's like you going to a grocery store and a man or a woman is standing outside demanding that you pay an entrance fee which you do not get back whether you buy food in the grocery store or not. People would boycott such a place. I've told car wreckers all over this country about U-Pick it and they are just stunned at first and then laugh when they learn that you have to pay to get in! My friend's 1997 Caddy died and with limited income she needed a cheap car fast. When you live pay check to pay check and even the stimulus payment gift from President Trump just barely pays the bills, I stepped in and helped her find the reliable car she needed and I could help fund. Her friend Cameron works at U-pick-it in Prescott Valley so we drove way out there from Chino Valley (on 89A to Fain road to Sara Jane lane) to the "junk" yard. Cameron told us he had a nice Toyota but they just got a 2006 Subaru Outback in that morning that might be affordable. I drive a 2018 Subaru Outback and am a Subaru super-fan. So, show us this gem of a car. OMG. Perfect body with not a dent on it. 6 cylinder AWD. Interior reeked of cigarette and other funny smoke but the interior was well loved but will be cleaned up and deodorized prior to our purchase. Tires had mileage on them but were still sfae considering it only had 158,000 miles on it. We knew Cameron would not let her buy a lemon besides, they had no lemon's there anyway so we jumped on it. With her hard earned and preciously saved $1100 and my contribution of the rest of the cost, she got that 2006 Subaru Outback for $2500. Subaru's tend to get healthier the older they are so both of us expressed our joy and adulation to the U-Pick-it crew Cameron and Alex for this literal gift from heaven. This is an okay place it would be a little bit nicer if they had a list of their inventory of what they do have and what they don't have like most places do to let you know that they had the part or not because it is a hassle to come into town wasting gas to come in and get a part and then get here and find out that they don't have the part because they don't have a vehicle here that has part that you need that's why it would be nice if they had an inventory so that you knew what they had and how many of liked that part they had and stuff like that their bathroom that they have is not clean it be nice if they took care of that and it would also be nice if they had somebody to help when you need help but all that it is good to get parts from of course sometimes the price is the prices are a little bit too expensive for people that are on a fixed income but it's a nice place read more

Very unprofessional and unhelpful on the day we went. They closed at 4:00 on a Sunday so when driving from Prescott we called on the way and said we'd be there at 3:45. When we got there, the closed sign was already up and the door was locked. After banging on the door and telling them we had called and it wasn't even 4:00 yet they reluctantly let us in, but would not point the way to the car parts we needed. I have sold 2 vehicles that did not run anymore to U-Pick-It within the past year. I spoke to an employee named Matt who was very friendly and accommodating. I didn't get much for the vehicles however living in a subdivision with strict HOA regulations I stayed out of trouble with the police and the HOA. Thank you Matt for accommodating me which reduce my stress level and get me out of trouble. I have also purchased parts that you pick it and found their prices to be reasonable. I am glad that we have U-Pick-It in the area that salvages vehicles or else we would have to all go to Phoenix and find parts that we need. Spent 2 days end of June pulling parts for an Xterra that had no interior to speak of. We got everything installed ok. Reviewed my receipt in prep to return seats for core charge, discovered that I was charged for 2 taillight assemblies but I only got one. I live almost an hour away so it was a few weeks after calling them to tell them we we were overcharged that I went back with my receipt only to be told that "well, we usually don't do that, it's been too long." So we were overcharged but had to eat it. Young girl in there on weekends has no clue about customer service. read more

I've been a full time metal recycler for few years now and exclusively used U pick it for my steel needs until today. Since the new ownership took over, the yard has gotten ten times dirtier, so plan for a blown tire if you're taking them steel. Another new policy is that they ONLY take steel. They used to take mixed metal for the price of steel. This will be important later So I brought my usual load in, steel in my trailer and nonferrous in the bed of my truck to be processed and taken to a nonferrous metal yard. Today, my bed was absolutely filled with cans. This has NEVER been an issue before, but apparently the owners made a new policy that no prohibited materials can go back to the metal zone. First off, Cans are absolutely NOT on the list of prohibited materials. I'd understand turning my ENTIRE LOAD AWAY if I were suspiciously trying to sneak a load of cinder blocks back to the steel zone but f*cking cans? I'm 75 miles away from u pick it, so it was an entirely wasted trip that I had to make fully loaded, so I wasted 150 miles of gas and my time because of this. You can take your metals right across the street to YMR, who are superior to u pick it in EVER way as a scrap yard, except U pick it usually has YMR beat by 10/ton on steel, which is small potato compared to the potential of having your entire load rejected. It was past the time that YMR closes for the day so I couldn't just take my load over there. All in all, they're a yard that acts like the only game in town when they have competition right across the street. read more

Had to replace a driver side mirror- glass only. After searching for awhile, i found a piece. Understand, it was the mirror only, not the housing, assembly, mechanism...just the glass, 3 in by 5 in mirror glass, not even model specific, just the glass. $12. 60 total. I've gone to U Pick It many times and I have paid a wide range of prices for a variety of used items and it almost always feels like the parts guy is arbitrarily quoting prices. He looks at the computer but its like he makes the price up according to... what? My looks? As I was walking out the door muttering to myself, another customer was asking the price on a rotor/ caliper/ spindle. "$25", the parts guy says. Almost $13 for a piece of glass and $25 for a rotor/ caliper/ spindle, yeah, that sounds about right. read more

Bought two drive lines/shafts there, and both were bent because they use a forklift to set the cars. lots of times you pay to get in, and the vehicle they tell youthey have in stock is stripped to the point it is a waste of time, and money to even make the trip. all around, I found the parts on the internet may cost more, but at least I don't have to waste my time, and money, just to "PLAY PIG IN THE POKE" with these two yards, in Prescott, and Flagstaff. read more

I dont know where to start , but having been to U-pick it several times , over the last 5 years I have been told one price over the phone and get there only to be told it was more , on 9-8-2020 I called about a radiator for my bronco and was told it would be $74.22 "out the door" But yesterday 9-10 when i get there , and picked it out , I was told it was $88.05 because it was a copper one and not an Aluminum one , I was not told their was a seperate charge for the two , [ there were no Aluminum radiators in the early bronco / f-150's ] I was not told I was being charged a "Core " charge of $25 , the guy over the phone just said "Out the door ' . This has also happened to one of my friends who no longer buys there . I know they have a big turnover there and I never see the same employees so I guess they are not the sharpest place in town to work for , I have left two messages for the manager but have yet got a reply . I drove 60 miles round trip and told the gal that I get a higher price every time I call and then show up . that is a dishonest way to do business , I also figure they know after you hunt for the part and take the time to take it off , they Gotcha . we belong to several car groups in the county and have yet to hear a good story about , u-pick-it . I tried selling these guys my junk car. Their website made it sound so simple yet this is not the case. I called on a friday and they made it sound like they would be out that day but to wait for a phone call from their tow truck driver. The driver didn't call all day and when I called back at 5 pm they said they couldn't find my quote and didn't have anything on file. They took my info again and started a new quote and stated that they would be out the following monday or tuesday. Nobody called me Monday and so I called back on tuesday morning and they said they couldn't find my quote again. So I gave them one more chance and gave them my info AGAIN and got ANOTHER quote, I was hoping 3 times would be the charm but I'm still waiting on a phone call from this mythical driver. I'm just going to call someone else and I recommend others do the same until they can get it together. read more

Like another reviewer, I do wish I could offer less than one star. These people are thieves, crooks, and as dishonest as I could imagine. On July 12, 2016, "Andrew" in their Prescott Valley office offered to buy my disabled car from me for $150. He said they would pick up the car in Williams, AZ in a few days, so I should mail the title certificate to their Prescott Valley office immediately. He promised that once the car was picked up and the title cert received, a check would be mailed to me. Broken promise # 1. Beginning in early September, when I was sure they had forgotten me, I began calling regularly. "Rene" promised that she put a check in the mail to me on Sept 2nd, but (of course) it never arrived. Broken promise # 2. "Lisa", the manager, when I had the extreme good luck to catch her when she was not "in a meeting" (the usual response one gets when calling for her) gave me her word on Sept 16 that a check would go out the same day. But again (such a surprise!) no check arrived. Broken promise # 3. These people seem to have absolutely no integrity. I live out of state and had to sell my car to a local wrecker, trusting that they would be as honorable as the other Arizona folks with whom I had dealt. No such luck! They have taken advantage of a traveler who had some trouble on the road, and would have a difficult time pursuing legal recourse against them. My only hope is that I can warn off others who might be spared the shady business practices that these lowly creatures employ. Boy, I hope I don't sound too angry! Grrrr! read more
