I dropped by Summit 4x4 and met with Lee who scheduled an appt for a multi point inspection of my 2004 TJ at my request. I had recently purchased this jeep and wanted it gone over to see what I could not see. They spent a good amount of time and when the inspection was over, Lee discussed all of the issues, Texted and Emailed me the results of the inspection which included videos which clearly described everything that should be looked at and replaced/repaired. I took my 2019 Jeep Wrangler to Summit 4x4 because it was experiencing the dreaded "death wobble." From the start, they assured me they could fix it. To their credit, they did mention early on that if it wasn't the track bar, it could potentially be the bearings, but they still moved forward confidently with repairs. On the first visit, I spent nearly $6,000 replacing the track bar, shocks, and other components. For a short time, I was hopeful the issue might be resolved, but within a few weeks, the death wobble came back. Fustrated, I brought it back in. This time, they told me the problem was surely the bearings. Another couple thousand dollars later, those were replaced as well. Again, I was hopeful... and again, within weeks, the death wobble returned. At this point, I brought the Jeep in yet again. They attempted to duplicate the issue and performed an a tire balance and rotation saying they inspected the jeep and e writhing looked good. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, the death wobble still persists. After more than $7,000 spent, I'm left with a Jeep that is in worse condition than when I first brought it in. It's gotten to the point where we can't even drive it straight down the road with confidence, forget about taking it on the highway. It isn't safe for anyone to drive. The staff is nice enough, but it's clear they are not equipped to properly diagnose or fix this type of issue. When you're charging customers thousands of dollars, there needs to be accountability for results, not just guesswork and parts replacement. At a minimum, I would have expected some level of ownership, whether that be a partial refund or some kind of resolution for the ongoing issue. Instead, we're out thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it except a worse-driving vehicle than we started. I certainly do not feel comfortable bringing my car here a fourth time and would strongly caution anyone dealing with complex suspension or steering issues to look elsewhere. read more

Took my 2005 Rubicon jeep in for some upgrades. Lockers gears axles, correction brackets steering ball joints . The crew at summit was great to work with everything on the jeep was dialed and fine tuned before it was returned. This will be my go to shop. I took my 2012 Ford F250 4X4 to Summit, Prescott on based on a referral for rear differential noise. A few days later I was called to advise all bearing and gears needed to be replaced. I actually drove to look at the rear end and talked with the mechanic. Ultimately I approved the repairs that totaled around $7,200.00. I was in shock at the cost, my differential was completely disassembled internally so I was there between a rock and a hard spot. A new housing was ordered and when it arrived it was dented so Summit refused to accept it, that was good. Summit then called me and said they found another one but it was dented as well. At that time I suggested a low mile used housing, I was told they could find one and that would save several hundred dollars, I was thrilled. I left out one thing, I needed my truck on a certain date which gave them about 15 days to get the job done. i Was then given another date for completion due to lack of mechanics, not my issue. That literally happened twice. Upon finally getting a call telling me it was completed I was thrilled, this truck is my daily driver. Upon arrival to pick up my truck the total invoice was one $10,000.00, I went into shock. I started to pick the invoice apart, the reduced the invoice three times after I challenged it each time, after those three reductions I questioned the labor, over $3,800.00 in labor costs for a rear end, that's insane. They again reduced the charges, after all that I ended up with a total of just over $7,200.00 dollars. I have since researched the costs of replacing the rear differential with a complete rebuilt for my truck and here is the breakdown in the high side. Parts. $4,550.00 Labor. $ 1,500.00 incidentals $200.00 Total $6,250.00 Again, this is the high side. I received an email from Summit asking for my views of their service. I responded with the same as stated above and was contacted by Summit to discuss my email response to them, I couldn't answer the call. I received and email stating I would be contacted the following Monday in an attempt to make things right, I never revised that follow up call to date. read more

Two different times this 2025 year, I have called Summit 4x4 for a quote on prices for parts and or labor for a Chevy Truck. Of course, they wont talk to you further unless you give them your full name and phone number, assuming this is because they will call you back, but they will not. First call was to get a price for parts and labor, for reducing the low end gearing in a Chevy pickup rear end. They never called me back after giving them all needed information. Second call in July, was to get a price on a full size 8' drop in bed liner, I needed price and availability. Never called me back with any information. Sure glad he took my information down. Who ever owns or operates this business, is either clueless as to what their dead beat employees answering the phone are actually doing to help bring business or they just dont care, by at least calling the customers back with nay or yea, on whether or not they can get the accessory or do the work with parts. Short answer is: I will never call Summit for a work quote or accessory parts quote again. I called a Phoenix truck accessories place called: ( truckaccessplus.com 2549 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85008 602-273-9284 .... They didnt need my last name to talk to me) and immediately got a price over the phone and a next day availability after ordering, all in the same phone call. Need to say, I will be buying my bed liner from them, I dont mind the drive to Phoenix from a company that actually wants to do business, while Summit 4x4 who appears to be more interested in taking a potential customers information over the phone, but DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT, BUT TO IGNORE THEM, lost my local business for good, even though I could never buy from them, because they never got back to me in order to give me the opportunity. If you need Truck accessories, call Phoenix places instead of Summit, you will get the part and have it on your truck, before Summit will ever get back to you, which is never ! read more

I brought my Jeep to Summit for a steering issue--no dash lights were on at the time. I followed the tech's advice and approved all recommended work, totaling about $5,400. The steering improved, but within a week, three new dash lights came on: check engine, ABS, and traction control. These pointed to disconnected components in the same area they had worked on. When I called for a follow-up, I was told they'd check it and only charge if necessary. But at the appointment, they tried to charge me $107 after quoting over $1,000 for an ABS sensor and wiring repair--nearly double what another dealer-priced shop quoted me, with a warranty, quality assurance, and a courtesy shuttle. I chose to go with the better service at a better price. The staff was generally polite, but overall, I left disappointed. I went with Summit for their off-road focus, but between the high cost, lack of warranty, and new issues right after service, I won't be returning read more

I hired Summit to do a pre-purchase inspection on a 2014 4Runner. They found several minor issues which I used to negotiate a price for purchasing the vehicle. Shortly after, I found out the parking brake wasn't working at all. I figured it just needed adjustment. Later I went to adjust the brakes and during the process I discovered the brakes were soaked in axle oil. I took it to a repair shop and it was diagnosed to have leaking axle seals and a broken parking brake cable. The brake backing plates had oil on them and were caked with dirt, a clear indication the seals had been leaking for some time. The pre-purchase inspection showed the parking brake passed the inspection. This could not be true. Also there was no mention of the bad seals. I got estimates for the repairs that ranged from $2100 to $3300. I went to the manager, Shad Kennedy, and presented the problem of how the parking brake and axle seals were missed in the inspection. I showed a photo of the saturated brakes. His response was this all happened during the 4 weeks that had passed since I purchased the vehicle. I have attached the photo I showed him. Cleary that is not fresh axle oil. I asked if they would help me with the cost of the repair by providing the labor if I pay for parts. His offer was to do the repair at fleet rate and 10% off parts. I ended up paying them $1300 for the bearings, seals and brakes. They couldn't fix the cable during the 2 days they had it in the shop, so I had that done elsewhere for another $800. Total cost for repairs was over $2100 out of my pocket. What started as a fair deal for the vehicle ended up being a very bad deal, all because they missed the obvious broken brake cable and leaking seals. They refuse to acknowledge any liability for their oversight. How can you justify charging $200/hr when you can't see something so obvious? You don' t earn that rate sorry to say. read more

I was having mechanical issues with my 1946 CJ2A Jeep. I initially took it to Summit 4x4. After waiting several days and paying over $800, I was told it was fixed. It wasn't. The very next day I was experiencing the same issues. I called and left a message with Craig. He said he would let Jesse, the owner, know. I never heard back from anyone there. It appears to me that they have very little knowledge on old Jeeps. Needless to say, I will not be using them again. I then took it in to Casey's Auto Repair in Prescott and Casey promised to look at it that day. The next morning, he called and said it was ready to be picked up. His pricing was very reasonable. I showed up a little after 6 p.m. My 1990 Mazda truck having issues. The a/c compressor bolt came undone. They spent a least a half hour putting the bolt in and tightening it up. Access to the bolt was difficult, making it hard to tighten. They kept at it despite being past quitting time. When done, i asked them what I owe, the answer was nothing. I can't thank them enough. I ordered a 4" BDS lift kit with fox coil overs 4 17"wheels and 37's for a 21 f350. Many parts were on back order which was understandable. After a few months I started asking when things are coming in. I started seeing my exact model truck around town with a bds lift but with different shocks (king fox etc). I made a few phone calls to vendors and was surprised I could change the shocks. Called into summit and they seemed confused. Said they would follow up. Finally got some answers a few days later and I told them to just use the fox 2.0's and not the coil overs. I asked if those were an option all along they said yes but "they just came off back order (I don't believe it) " yet I was never offered this option while constantly checking In on the parts for months. The install went ok. Good work I was happy with it. Any time line they give you just double it and expect no communication. The alignment had to go through a 3rd party. They book with this shop days in advance so you Get a slot. It was never booked with the alignment shop. I told them just give me the keys I got a buddy that owns a shop in PV I'll have it done in an hour. They wouldn't let me so my truck being done at noon that day turned into 6pm. I wasn't going to write a review or even use them for anything again. But I got a screw in a tire that isn't repairable and I have the warranty. Ashley got my tire ordered super fast. I sent her pics of where it was over email super quick. We played phone tag a little and she said I have an appointment set for you at 8:30. I'm pretty flexible so if another day is better set it for that day when you can get the truck in. Truck sat for an hour before they touched it only after I asked when they think they were going to start on it. I try to be easy going but the lack of communication is terrible. Maybe if I owned a jeep or spent more than 20k here i would get some communication ? After grabbing my keys had to run back inside and ask them to reprogram the Tpms location for the tires :/ Should have just had another shop do the tire rotation read more

I made an appointment for Monday at 8 o'clock. I showed up at 7:50 and went inside and talked to the service advisor, Kyle. He took my keys and I went to breakfast and I came back an hour later and my jeep still wasn't in to the shop yet. I waited another hour and asked Kyle about the status, and he checked on it. He came back and said that they brought in another jeep instead of mine by mistake. I was frustrated and I left. No I would not recommend this business. The service advisor has one job to do and he didn't do it, which is to make sure the service gets scheduled properly. read more

I came in to Summit for a multi-point off-road inspection of my Jeep, fix the driver's side door, have the Hi-Lift jack mounted and to look around for other accessories. A day later I'm shown an invoice for $9,200.00, with only the door fixed. Laughing. You sure know how to plus-sell! Unfortunately, you don't seem to understand the concept of, needs vs. wants. I don't mind you attempting to sell me a bunch of 'wants,' but you've got to take care of the needs, first. Not to mention that 'Chris,' whatever title he holds, felt the need to come over and attempt to sell me EVEN MORE STUFF, and this is after the $9,200.00 invoice from the salesman! Whatever. Issue is, now I can't trust you on the multi-point inspection, or anything else. How can I trust someone to do what I need, if all they want to do is try and sell you more 'bling' crap for your vehicle and ignore what you came in for? I want to ensure the Jeep won't crap out on the trails and you're worried about selling me pretty bling. Bad business. And again, not their fault. Where's the manager? This occurred on the 14th and now it's the 18th and still no call from the GM. I ensured, twice, that the woman I told to have the GM call me knew it. So, either you have a training issue, in getting messages to the GM, or he just doesn't care to call me. Again, bad business. But, with the prices they charge, I'm sure they can't get anything else done but take all this money they are making to the bank, as they obviously are not taking care of customers needs. Now I need to find another off-road company to do a multi-point inspection and mount the jack, etc., etc., as you can't trust this company and these people. (Especially if you are new to Jeeps and off-roading. They shouldn't attempt to take advantage of newbies like this, but again, re-read above.) Shame on you and your company. If this is a chain with multiple locations, I may try and find the owner. I seriously doubt s/he would care for this kind of service. But then again, this is Prescott, so, per the usual. read more

Had been meaning to get some new tires and a winch and was going to go to a big box store. I was driving through downtown (not from Prescott) and saw Summit 4x4 and decided to stop in and talk to them. I chatted with Ashley, she is not only super knowledgeable but also uses the products. I was immediately sold and purchased my tires and winch. We scheduled a date for the following week. I am traveling alone and Uber wasn't running due to a snow storm that hit two days prior to my appointment for install. They worked out giving me a lift to and from their shop. They did outstanding work but their follow through was poor at best. I paid for the extended warranty on my tires and when I picked up my truck they didn't have the paperwork for the warranty. I was told it would be emailed. Two weeks later I realized I never got the email. I called my sales rep and and left a voicemail asking if they could make sure it was sent and also that I had some vibrations at 55mph I was concerned about. I never got a call back. I called again and just asked to have my warranty emailed and was told it was sent and to check my spam folder, I asked if they could just resend anyway just to make sure and they said they would. I never got it again and I checked my spam folder tracking back weeks and never got it.I called again a few days later and was told it would be emailed right away and I would get a call back in 10 min to make sure I got it. I never got the email nor a call back. I had to take time off work to drive to them to get the warranty paperwork. Never got a call back about the vibrations. They were great upfront but after they got paid the service went downhill fast. It was something so simple to just make sure I got my warranty info and follow through on a phone call. read more

I have owned my Jeep JKU for 7 years now. I had a 3" lift and 35" inch tires installed shortly after buying it new in 2014. I had encountered death wobble multiple times with multiple mechanics trying to fix it. I took it to Summit 4x4 in February and worked closely with service advisor Mark along with Chris who truly knows his stuff when it comes to tires. (I needed new tires too). Mark and Chris were exceptional to work with. They let me know of various options I could go with to fix my death wobble issue. After deciding on a course to take, they got all of the necessary parts in quickly and were able to get me scheduled quickly for the install. I have been driving now for four months and the suspension and ride are PERFECT! Since this first visit with them, I have taken the Jeep to them for a couple of minor issues. I again worked with Mark and was highly impressed with his knowledge, advice and commitment to get me scheduled quickly. I have talked with a few of the technicians who helped problem solve some of these other issues, and they have always been professional, knowledgeable and friendly. This is a GREAT shop! read more
