We have never had an issue here. The staff here is very kind and patient. I never experienced sarcasm and appreciate the recognition of being a 30+ year client. Parking is easy and appointments have to be scheduled in advance which is a bit annoying but this is an aspect that has carried on post Covid. I have banked with Wells Fargo in various locations for the past 40 years, and have never experienced such poor service as the Lafayette CA branch. In brief, I am a local store owner, trading in Lafayette for 12 years, fully known at the bank as I bank at minimum 3-4 times a week. There is always a line of people to be served, for the most part there are 3-4 tellers staring at a screen with one customer, cannot imagine why, everyone else in line is ignored. That aside, I recently went in to the branch to bank a check that was made out to our store, the paying in slip had my LLC name on it. The Teller said he was unable to accept the check as it did not have our LLC name on the check. The check was a regular check that I receive four times a year from Fedex, plus I have a long history with Wells Fargo, having all accounts including my mortgage with them. The awkward bank manager was called and stated that she would not take my check as it could be fraud, even though she knew who I was and that I was a local trader. She told me to return with my Sales Tax License to prove both the LLC name plus the store name, this I did, but they would still not take the check as the "Back Office" girl at the branch said no. I took it to the Pleasant Hill branch who banked it immediately. I will now remove all accounts from Wells Fargo, and am in the process of reporting the horrible service at the Lafayette branch. This place drops the ball every time I go into it. They can't preform basic functions that every other Wells Fargo location can. I truly don't understand how this place continues to exist. Had my time wasted by this place more times than I can count. Wells Fargo corporate state's you can send your replacement debit cards to locations, I've picked them up at many other branches. These guys will just send them back to HQ. Every time I go there I see 14 people working and only teller helping people and the line is out the door. read more

Went into the bank and found one teller on duty handling an extended transaction. I was approached by a bank employee informing me that additional teller would be available soon. Instead of having a person telling customers that help will be available soon, have her open a teller station. Stupid. read more

The location is convenient but the service is horrible. I was told that no one was available to help me reset my mobile banking app for another 45 minutes because they were on lunch. There were only 5 people in line and two tellers. The wait time was long and there's absolutely NO diversity in the bank. One of the tellers told me the wrong information on a payment that had not posted yet. I don't know how they hired some of these people. I can say it's not what you know, but who you know. I would not recommend this location based on my experience. read more

Bad customer service! I went into this branch 20 minutes before closing to sign up for the new credit card they are advertising. There was 2 tellers and they had a line and only one banker in the cubicle and he was on what sounded like a personal call. After Waiting a few minutes for someone to notice me, and because they were closing soon, I decided to ask one of the tellers if they had a banker to help me. He asked me what I needed and I told him I wanted to sign up for the new card. He said that it was "not going to happen today" he said it would take 30-40 minutes to submit an application and I would need come back tomorrow. I doubt it takes that long. I'm guessing it would take about 10-15 minutes. That was very disappointing customer service! If that teller explained the were short handed that day, I would understand and not be yelping about it. But I was brushed off and told they didn't have time for me. I've been a customer of Wells Fargo since 1999 and can't recall being this disrespected before. read more

My wife and I met with one of the top managers. His name was Branden. He made a lot of promises about getting us a secure ID device. He never delivered, and after several emails and phone calls never followed up with us. I was surprised because he was friendly when we were there and gave us all kinds of assurances. I've spent dozens of hours on the phone with various financial institutions and the devil itself - Equifax - trying to figure out all the BS that accompanies identity theft. It's been painful. There have been tears. There has been yelling (no regrets). Czarina is one of the few people who took the time to actually try to help me, and to actually BE helpful. She spent several hours combing through my records to find fraudulent activity, made numerous phone calls on my behalf and was just generally a friendly presence in an otherwise miserable situation. They said since it takes 30-45 min to add a beneficiary to an existing account, they told us no teller can help us and since they close at 5pm, there's nothing they can do and they won't make any exceptions. Went there today waited while the teller gossiped with a customer, lots of people in line 2 tellers. So finally get to the front ask for a MO and she tells me it's $5.00 I told her been to the bank 3 times for MO lately and was not charged, they just randomly decide to charge or not. She got the manager Avi and he said it would be $5 but could not tell me why the others were free and this was not. If the policy is to charge $5.00 I can get it at Safeway for $1.00 or 7/11 for $1.49. So much for being a long time customer read more

I do not bank with Wells Fargo, but I do work with their investment professionals. My first experience walking into this Lafayette branch was a great one. A lovely woman greeted me at the door and another employee smiled and said hello as I made my way to the back for my meeting. It's a smaller branch but parking was easy. It's also easy to find (if you know Lafayette just a little bit). It's right on Mt. Diablo Blvd. at the Happy Valley intersection, so getting on and off the freeway is pretty simple (less than a mile). Service was fast and friendly. read more

Not sure what the squawking is all about. The staff here is fantastic. Yes, there are some that are more spectacular than others. We've had the exact opposite experience of what other reviewers have stated; but then again, we're nice and perhaps are firm about which services are a must and must not. Yes, we did have some account set-up errors, but Ryan B. was quick to dial in on the issues. Wells Fargo has extensive account offerings past what is immediately stated. Due to the extreme income needs in the region, this branch has a solid variety of seasoned specialists that can help dial in on the most intelligent and reasonable solutions. ATMS - 2 exterior, 1 interior LINES - You'll be in line just long enough to fill out any deposit slips. There are typically at least 4 specialists in addition to the 3-4+ tellers; specialists will step in to help if a flood of people arrive. SITTING AREA - Refreshments, armchairs and magazines are available for those that want to sit or wait for an appointment. ENTRANCE / EXIT - Awkward entry and exit points which are easy to miss or get stuck in. This branch is also phenomenal with setting up financial education seminars for local young folks. The bank has been generous with helping the local Girl Scout Troops set up free nonprofit bank accounts as well! read more

I get so pissed with these banks and their new, limiting the rules. Customer service is excellent and deserves five stars. But try bringing a personal check in to cash from a friend that's $500 or more and they have to make a call to that customer to verify that the check is valid even though they have their customers signature online and in the bank that they can compare to. I understand the reason, but it's ridiculous in this case. Well, I've reconsidered and realize that they have a good reason for that policy. So I'm updating my one star to three stars. read more

They have promised to complete a request that I made to them in a certain amount of time, 10 business days. They didn't complete it and after sitting down with the banker who promised this, he found out their central office dropped the ball. They again promised to finish the task in 4 hours and notify me when it was done. Never happened!!! Went back and spoke to the assistant manager. She then found out that they were now claiming that they had 48 hours to notify me. They would not even let her speak to any executive in order to clear this up. I must say the customer service is outstanding . The branch's service manager Avi Kumar , personally greets and interacts with all the patrons. He is always asking customers how they are doing , how can he help . He helped me with my Childrens teen accounts as well as get a safe deposit box at the bank ! I am so angry with Wells Fargo Bank that I don't know what to do. I have had my money in the bank for over 35 years. I had recommended that my mother (who was 90) use the bank. We had a VISA card together that we both used. I was an authorized user, made many purchases and paid personally for these purchases. She died suddenly in November and the bank has said that the member points are not available to me (although I was an authorized user and purchaser). The principle of this seems beyond me. Customer service is fairly poor. We received a notice that we didn't pay for our safety deposit box in April 2010 . Just got the notice in June 2011. They also mentioned they would send the contents to NON-CLAIMED property. I called to inquire what was going on as the box is free with our account. Couldn't even get a return call. read more

I have used them for business banking for two years. This has included checking accounts, merchant account, and payroll services. Their "Advantage" business checking is only their advantage; even when you meet all the requirements for free checks, they will still occasionally try to charge me a monthly fee. The merchant services roped me into a 3 year contract with a $500 cancellation fee. Payroll services was just changed and I am being charged for things I didn't agree too. You have to constantly check the accounts to make sure WF hasn't added in some fee "accidentally". They also lost three of my deposits. Extremely unethical and now they require arbiration so you can't do a class action lawsuit, which is what WF needs. STAY AWAY. read more

As you may know there are two Wells Fargo branches in Lafayette. I live in Oakland but will usually plan my banking visits to coincide with times I am out through the tunnel. I like the feel of the branch at 3630 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The other WFB branch in town has the negative of being at a busy intersection that I like to avoid, not really their fault. When last in the 3630 branch I was helped by Jenny Guo, the Personal Banker there. She was very helpful, could handle investments, and had the whole customer service thing down pat. As an extra perk parking is plentiful and it's really close to the BART Station. Overall I'm a very happy customer. I read some of the poor ratings below and whereas I feel their pain, for the most part they are written by people that don't like Wells Fargo corporate policies regarding check holds and such. I deal with two other banks for work and my mothers banking and they all have similar policies - I've never blamed a bank staff for following their rules. Just thought I would go on record with how well I was treated and my overall satisfaction with this branch. read more

Bad business practice! Went to the teller to deposit a large check. She told me NO HOLD would be put on the funds. Then the assistant manager takes me to his desk to approve my deposit. He asked when I needed the money by. I said in 2 days. He said he needed to put a 3-day hold on it. I said, reluctantly, ok. HE PUT A 14-DAY HOLD ON MYFUNDS ! Fraud in my opinion. I am going to switch banks. He probably got kudos points for making money on my money by holding it for 14 days which is un-necessary. I have the type of account that allows for immediate access to my deposits so there was no need to hold the funds except to BENEFIT THEM. read more

I have some mixed feelings about wells fargo as a Corporation, however, this branch is outstanding. Go see Jim Thorne mon-friday. He will take care of your needs and serve you honestly and professionally. Other branches (especially young bankers) will attempt to get you to open new and unnecessary accounts. Jim helped me clean up a bunch of old accounts that weren't helping me OR wells fargo. All of the employees at this branch are extremely helpful and resourceful, not to mention cool. : ) Even though I have had my doubts about wells fargo in the past, I will stay with them as long as I have access to the lafayette branch. read more

I have been with Wells Fargo ever since they opened a branch in my home town. I used to go to the other location in the middle of town but they just closed that one to my disappointment. Every time I have been to this branch it is over crowded, the line is always incredibly long, and unless the bankers know you really well don't expect a great experience. I am usually very happy with this location up until recently. I thought I was a victim of fraud due to an unusual charge from a gas station the same day I purchased gas. I came in to this location since it is my local branch and BENTON ROBINSON helped me and very much fed in to my thoughts of fraud and convinced me it was in fact fraud. the whole conversation was about my other accounts such as checking and savings and how he wanted to cancel those accounts and start new ones, even though my credit card was the one that was in question. I am in sales as well and felt like he was trying to get over on me just to open new accounts. I called in to the wells fargo customer care and told them about the mysterious charge. immediately the rep over the phone knew it was a temporary hold that certain gas stations do in order to make sure the money goes through. so in conclusion, the representative BENTON ROBINSON had no interest in resolving my problem which could have been taken care of within seconds and only cared about opening new accounts to benefit himself. being in sales ive been around a lot of shady sales people and Benton definitely fits the profile. Wells Fargo in general is not customer friendly! Have an HSA savings account with them which is my money administered by them to cover my health care deductibles via a debit card. Three members in my family and they just changed their policy to only provide 1 card for 3 people! If the other 2 have need of the account, they have to pay cash and get reimbursed! This is a corporate mistake by Elizabeth Dienst VP but she will not take calls, others at Wells will not take messages for her, yet they are willing to take your money!
