Very unhelpful and bizarre customer service! I used the ATM inside the bank to pull cash out for teacher gifts for my son's preschool class. There was no option for $50s (I needed 4 $50s), and took the cash I had pulled out to the teller. The teller informs me that the max she can exchange is $100. At first I think she is joking because it is so ridiculous, so then I recap that I literally just pulled cash out of Chase's ATM, and walked 3 steps to her. There are no other customers in the bank, so she was able to witness this whole scenario. She tells me to put my card into her card feeder and request more cash. I tell her no, I don't want more cash, nor do I want to incur another ATM fee as I did not use a Chase card. She then proceeds to say she can only help me if I have a Chase credit card. I inform her that we have a mortgage with Chase, but its under my husband's name; however we have the same last name. Another employee comes over, and I thought this person would be more reasonable, but no - says they won't help. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

These people suck. Do you want our money or not? Get better at your internal communication and training your employees. Updated** from 2 stars to 1 star now (read end for my update): 1) My husband has sporadic long work hours and was trying to transfer his Roth IRA $ from an old work account to a Chase Roth IRA and was playing phone and email tag with Russ for over a month. He asked multiple times to Russ if they could talk on the phone or meet in person at a set time to help create a Roth account and facilitate the transfer. Instead of locking down a date and time that my husband would suggest, Russ just kept calling back during random hours assuming my husband would be free and left him useless voicemails to call him back. Newsflash: not everyone works a 9-5 job and can be around their phone, so stop assuming you'll be able to catch him if you've already failed 3 times to at that point. 2) We wanted to set up a high yield savings account and called to ask how. The teller told us this had to be done in person and set us up for a morning meeting so someone could help us. We both had to move around our existing morning plans to both come in at this time and day. We show up and Flora has no idea what this meeting is about and tells us no one in knows how to do this since she only manages private client and asks if we can try again with someone who knows how to, who, isn't free until the following week... Oh and by the way, he can actually help us do it over the phone so it only has to be a phone meeting. WTF? I'm pregnant and have rough mornings and important work meetings and my husband works night hours and ya'll made us show up 9:15am for this useless sh!t of a "meeting" that could have actually been a phone call? If this next phone meeting runs into problems as well, we're pulling the $100k we've saved out of Chase into another institution's high yield savings account. 3) Since this morning meeting ends up being a waste, we try to make the most of it and proceed to ask to be set up as premier client. Flora only offers to my husband if he would like his debit card upgraded to premier. I wait and finally ask if she could please update mine as well. She responds with "oh do you have an existing debit card with us as well already?" She clearly knows I do or she's a terrible listener bc just minutes ago, we were both confirming to her how much we have in Chase checkings, savings, and IRA in order to be qualified for a high yield savings account. Ironic she asks him only, since I've been a Chase lifetime holder and my husband is only 2 years in. She would have known this if she was able to pull up our accounts, but she forgot her password and was "locked out after multiple attempts to sign in" before our meeting even began. Talk about being not prepared for your own meeting geez. She was writing down what we needed manually on a piece of paper. Come on ya'll. Get it together. These are the people we have to trust and work with to help us manage our large amounts of money? Are they not getting paid enough? Or are they getting paid too much in these cush jobs and not rising to the standard we expect of them? Either way, please fix this. I am so unimpressed. 2 stars for friendliness. UPDATED: Our rescheduled phone meeting was for today at 10:30am. Russ doesn't call until 10:50. Russ calls and doesn't remember us at all after we've talked to him multiple times through phone and email in the past. Says he doesn't do high yield savings account?! We were promised he knows how by Flora. Why have we been transferred twice now at this point to no one who know how to do anything?! He tells us to speak to another advisor and offers no referral. I'm calling Chase main branch to report these employees today. We were Chase loyal and saved up enough of the $100k minimum in order to open this account that was promised to us when we regret it now and could have made so much $ putting it in another institution's savings account by now had we not waited to get set up with Chase - and unsuccessfully. 1 star. read more

I've not always had great experiences at Chase Branches but how refreshing it was to have such a fantastic one with Stacy at The Lafayette Branch. She was helpful in answering my questions, very friendly and sweet. I actually commented on my way out that she should tell the manager she deserves a raise! She laughed and said I am the manager! You've got a true gem in Stacy, Chase! Treat her well... she is wonderful with your customers. read more

Oh man, great Branch with great helpful Bank Managers. All I got to say is, Flora is a savior. With all the banks branches fully booked on a Saturday, Flora was able to sneak me and my girl in to help us open a Business Account. She was really helpful, down to earth and really nice. We left the bank feeling like we made a new friend. We were able to learn so much about Business Accounts and also how to be a boss. She talked about her achievements and failures and was really open about her pride and love for her job in Jp Morgan Chase. Sometimes there's times where you feel like your meant to meet the right people in the right time, well this was one of them. So if you need help with opening anything Business, Personal or Private, I highly recommend to look for Flora. read more

This review is for the website, but I'll say a little bit about the branch. 99% of the people who work here are so nice. This one lady told me to apply for a home loan I told her I didn't qualify. She said no, you do. I filled out all this p/w, had to let them run my credit, and then she told me "You don't qualify. No shit! And now my credit is dinged for checking (I already have a house anyway). But the other workers are the best. Website is a joke! It will only let you see one deposit at a time before you have to go back to the beginning. Then they ask if you would like to participate in a survey about your experience after, but they just hang up on you. Instead of fixing it, they say "that is the current functionality of the site", and that was a "senior" "specialist"! They should say that's the current DYSfunctionality of the site. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED! No chase in Orinda! I have to come here after work today! Sept16,2017, 6PM. I always come here to withdraw 500$. I got 300$ (100$ bill). I DO NOT TRUST STORE ATMS. As far as banks go this is my primary bank. I was with Wells Fargo for decades and they just blew it. A short stint at B of A was equally terrible or worse. Definitely worse. Anyway... I'm pretty satisfied with the level of service at this location. Chase bank in general has reinvigorated my faith in a bank. Very friendly and solution oriented. They're just doing it right here. The branches in Walnut Creek are equally satisfactory. read more

Iopen an account at Chase mid January. There was no notification that there would be holds put on my funds. They sent me snail mail that came after the fact. So when my loan payment was returned they didn't tell me. Apparently they don't notify you unless it concerns fraud. That's ridiculous. If something has bounced in your account it's a problem and you should be notified. Also if they have Determined that they're going to put a hold on your funds they should either notify you at the time or they should email you or text you. It's Inexcusable to let your customers flap in the wind like that. read more

Very nice facility. Clean professional. ATM is in a good location. Major complaint is in regards to parking. Located on a very busy lot and finding a spot can sometime be difficult. Tellers have always treated me with respect and worked fast. Regardless of the amount of money I was dealing with they were always professional and courteous. read more

As a mobile repairman, I've had opportunity to frequent numerous Chase branches in Contra Costa County. This one is my favorite. Rarely has the wait been long. And while I wouldn't say the entire staff is particularly outgoing, they're certainly always pleasant. Yesterday I needed a form notarized. That normally requires an appointment, but Robert took care of me immediately. He oozes professionalism. Unfortunately he may not last long as branch manager. Guys like him have a tendency of getting promoted into regional management. read more

I've been a Chase Private Client customer for almost 15 years. I was out of town and visited the local branch. The branch itself is OK but the manager Elizabeth or Liz Zavala was extremely rude! Terrible customer service skills and extremely interruptive. She kept telling me no before I could finish asking her my question. Almost insulting, and on top of that, what she told me was incorrect! Long time Chase customer at another branch. Was in Lafayette for a meeting and needed notary services, for which my own branch in Berkeley has provided cheerful support for years. When I inquired about notary at this branch, the response was extraordinarily rude and curt -- "we don't do notary for real estate" was the response. Strangely, I'm certain the bank would be happy to benefit from my taking out a real estate loan with them. Absurd response. Went down the road to the UPS, where they were happy to help me -- with good humor to boot. Huge Chase disappointment today. read more

I have been depositing checks with Chase for years! I recommend the Chase Branch in Lafayette because the tellers always have a great time conversing with me. If you want to be entertained, stop by Chase around 5 pm on Fridays and you can wait in line while the teller take a half hour to deposit my checks. If you are impatient you can stop by the spa two doors down for a 30 minute foot rub and return to chase afterwards. If you are lucky someone will be having a birthday and they will share some cake! read more

I also tried to open a business account today with Janet Brandess and experienced the same unwillingness that other Yelp posters found that she did not want to work or provide service. I arrived at Chase in Lafayette on Saturday at 3:20pm, which closes at 4pm. Here was a summary of my interactions with her (1) immediately she told me it would take an hour to open up a business account and could I make an appointment and come another day since they were closing at 4pm (2) Ignoring her unwillingness to work her final 40 minutes, could we just get started. I provided the EIN but she said that was not good enough (3) We then messed around with a website to find the information on whether the business was in good standing (I have never had to do this before). I paid $5 online to get this evidence and provided it. (4) At 3:50pm she decided that the business was in good standing but now it was impossible to proceed because the bank closed at 4pm (5) In passing I had mentioned that Wells Fargo was open until 6pm and that I never had an experience like (1)-(4). She replied "Ugh poor Wells Fargo - that is a really long time to be open" I'll hopefully find another branch that will have a banker with a better attitude. My son turned 18 and we wanted to open up a checking account. There were three staff members, but no banker to open the account. We then called the Walnut Creek branch and they also said they could not open accounts because the banker wasn't there, she suggested that we open it online. The online process denied the account because he didn't have a credit history to verify his credit identity (He is 18!). When I called customer service they they could not help, he needed to go into the bank with a pre-scheduled appointment Tues-Friday because now he has a denial on his record. All of this to open a checking account. I guess they don't want more clients. read more

I find the staff here, particularly the Bank Manager, to be extremely helpful and friendly. Always pleasant to visit this branch.

This Chase bank is nice and cozy. Small but not the tellers are great. Very warm and friendly smile when I walked in for the first time after visiting a friend. Got my transaction completed quickly and the parking is easy. read more

I've been going to this branch since it was WAMU, - over ten years ago. They have really stepped up the service. They also stay open until 10 minutes past the hour if you're running behind. Bob, the branch manager, is terrific, Kaveh, Tammy, Marley Beth, Monica, Cindy and Chris are awesome too. read more
