I am incredulous over the profane, racist, and unprofessional treatment I received from this branch. Despite having thousands of dollars in my account and my valid drivers license I was not allowed access to my funds in any amount. I was literally stared down by the teller when I looked confused. It was extremely uncomfortable. I spoke to the manager who drilled me with numerous questions about my personal affairs. "Why do you need the money?" "Why don't you use a credit card instead of cash?" "Why would you shop at a store that only takes cash?" "Are you visiting town?" "What's your employment?" "Why the sudden need for cash? You rarely use this account anyway." After answering all questions politely I asked if this cleared the problem. "Nope," the manager said "there's nothing I can do. It's impossible." She claimed my drivers license wouldn't "scan," which is odd that I've never heard this before. In fact, the VA scanned it the day before so I knew this manager was lying. I asked if we could scan it again. "No!" she yelled. I've never felt so uncomfortable. Three days later I am still trying to fathom how a bank behaves this way. I've filled complaints with the state of California and with US Bank both of whom clearly told me this is illegal/against policy. As an attorney I feel it's my duty to pursue this both to warn others and make sure a light is exposed on this jaw dropping illegal and unprofessional behavior. Update: I went to a different branch. I was given a gift card from US Bancorp , US Bank sometime back. The gift card was lost and i recently found it and tried to use it and it didn't work. I contacted US Bank Corp and the card issuer to request a new card since the original gift amount was never used. Under California law, it is unlawful to sell a gift certificate to a purchaser that contains an expiration date. See Cal. Civ. Code § 1749.5. Simply put, a gift certificate sold without an expiration date is valid until redeemed or replaced. Cal. Civ. Code § 1749.5(b). This is the response US Bancorp gave me, with no reimbursement. U.S. Bank Branch - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Long Beach, California

I recently visited the US Bank branch located inside Ralph's to deposit a third-party check into my account. I had done my research ahead of time and followed the bank's stated policy: the check issuer was present with me, endorsed the back of the check, showed valid ID, and I signed it as well. However, the teller told me they do not accept third-party checks--period. I clarified that I wasn't trying to cash it, only deposit it into my account, but the teller insisted it wasn't allowed. I referenced US Bank's own website which states it is permitted under certain conditions. Still, the teller refused. I then contacted US Bank's customer service, who confirmed that my request was valid and suggested I speak with the branch manager. When I called back and spoke to the same teller again, I was met with the same refusal. I asked for the branch manager, who spoke to me with an unnecessarily rude and dismissive attitude. She stated that "no branch in Southern California would take the check" because it was "too risky." She even questioned, "Why can't you just have the person take it to their bank instead?" The tone and treatment were uncalled for and unprofessional. Honestly, the way I was spoken to made me question whether my race or orientation played a role in how I was treated. Regardless of the reason, no customer should be made to feel disrespected or brushed off in that manner. To ensure I wasn't mistaken, I called another US Bank branch ahead of time, visited, and was able to complete the exact same transaction in under 5 minutes--without any issue. I've since filed a formal complaint with US Bank's customer service regarding the conduct of the teller and the branch manager at this location. I sincerely hope US Bank takes this complaint seriously. No one should be treated with disrespect for simply trying to follow policy and manage their own finances. I am VERY grateful for Maria at this location I have had the RUN AROUND for my Savings Bonds to get deposited and she went ABOVE AND BEYOND for me. My appointment I booked on the app was only for 30minutes but she allowed me to stay as long as the process took and gave me GREAT DETAIL on my next steps after leaving 45 mins later. Out of ALL US BANK company's I went to this was the ONLY ONE that didn't just send me away with no answers to why they couldn't help me to deposit my Bonds. I'd give 10 stars if I could! There is a teller at this in-store branch that I did not like named Dennis G. He made me feel like assisting me was some kind of chore. He was not friendly; he didn't greet me, he didn't ask 'how can I help you?' I asked for cash back on my transaction and he didn't bother to ask which bill denominations I preferred. And at the end of the transaction, he didn't ask 'is there anything else I can help you with?' and he didn't thank me when I left, either. I don't wish anyone to lose their job, but Dennis might be better suited in your collections department. Seems like he'd do well there. read more

Since I had been told that check-cashing fees being applied to non-customers of the bank on which the check was drawn were quite common now, I decided to see if my own bank, U.S. Bank, had such a fee, so I went to the branch in Von's Market at Cherry and Carson in Long Beach. I went up to that in-store branch three separate times while the only teller on duty totally ignored me; she was trying to get a non-customer to open an account. On my third try, I finally interrupted her endless sales pitch and said, "May I ask you a thirty-second question, as I've been here three times and our groceries are melting." That teller told me I had to wait my turn, and ignored my three tries to get my answer, so I complained; at that point, the assistant manager came out of his lair in back and told me to ask him the question - but then he cut me off three times when I complained about the rudeness of his teller. Finally, I got my answer (yes, U.S. Bank also charges a check-cashing fee to non-customers for checks over $50) - but, first, my own bank had to put me through Hell before providing that answer! Shame on U.S. Bank, for mishandling a simple request with rude and crude behavior. (I did write to the branch manager & got a weak regrets.) Moral of story: expect little courtesy or common sense at U.S. Bank - then you will not be disappointed, even if U.S. Bank is your own bank! read more

Someone recently stole my wallet, so I had to replace my ATM cards and deal with this bank branch. Their "system" has several issues that aren't very helpful or user-friendly. Today I tried to change my PINs and they needed a government-issued ID. My license was stolen and they wouldn't accept my student ID because of the "system". It sounds like their system is jacked up and they should change it. They know me because this is about the third time I've been there in the past week or two. They closed my old account and opened this new account for me. It was the same exact guy. While I was speaking to the guy, the other employee turned off the lights. It was probably around 6 p.m., but that wasn't appropriate or helpful. In fact, it was rude. US Bank's online system doesn't allow me to change my PIN. #fail Their free temporary check provision is lame. The checks are only good for 30 days and then you have to pay a fee to use them. After they closed my bank account, I had two transactions I authorized fail to go through. I had given it some time, but I apparently didn't give it long enough. When I spoke to this guy about it, he said the account wasn't set up in a way where it would allow money to be forwarded from my old account to my new account. This screwed up my EFT into the account. If I'm only concerned about a thief taking money out of the account, why can't the bank prevent that AND allow money to be deposited into it and forwarded to my new account? I've been using this bank for a while and it's only useful to me because it stays open a little later than other banks, it's open on Sunday, and they're in a couple of grocery stores I visit. If I could give zero stars I would. I don't usually have anything negative to say about people who work in customer service because I understand it can be overwhelming and exhausting at times but I feel its necessary to speak up about hurtful experiences. I've been a loyal U.S. Bank customer for over 15 years and never have I had bad experiences with this company until today. I'd like to file a complaint with an employee at this branch named Jason. He had horrible customer service and his condescending comments and short unhelpful responses really made me feel like I didn't matter. I was trying to withdraw from my Philippines card (as i've done at other branches) and deposit into my US Bank account was asking for help and Jason was inattentive and wouldn't even help because he thought I didn't have a US Bank account so didn't even listen to my question. I felt so disrespected and did not want to have to deal with him anymore so I left and went to a different branch where they were able to help me. I always got the accommodations that i need, from my personal account to my business. They never fail me everytime i made transactions from them. Courteous, kind and very polite staff. 5 star over and over again. I recommend this to all ages. Worse customer service ever...this latino(lady) bank teller gave me an attitude as if it was my first time to use western union ever. I ve been sending money using western union for the last 7years and 2 years through us bank. She decided today to write my name the way she wanted to be written. I told her to cancel the transfer so I can go somewhere else...she egnored me and sent it anyway.
