Pad Thai with chicken
Jon B.

Swung into Ubon for a craving for Thai food . This hidden gem is quiet unassuming but has great eats ! Naturally I opted for the Pad Thai with chicken with 3 hotness rating ( it was perfect ). The food was piping hot and very fresh !! Great place for real Thai food !!

Chicken Pad Thai

Second time I have ordered Chicken Pad Thai and excellent both times!Fresh ingredients and generous amount of tender white pieces of chicken. Love the ability to select the degree of spicy hot---2 out of 5 is more than enough for me to enjoy the dish! Always ready in less time than their easy online ordering/payment system (Toast) states. The restaurant is extremely clean and the front counter help is friendly and polite. Cook/owner came out from the kitchen as well. Very appreciative of my business although it was a single order just for me. Convenient parking in lot of small strip mall for an easy run in for take-out although they have spacious booths for those who wish to dine-in comfortably. DB 8/23/24

I was really happy to learn of this buisness recently. My favorite area Thai restaurant I frequent is closed on Mondays. I searched Yelp for a local Thai restaurant open on Monday and that's how I learned of Ubon Thai. I searched for their website online since it wasn't available through Yelp. I'll add it to the page today so others can have easier access to it. I'll also add pictures of the menu. Brian took my take out phone order and was very courteous. Parking is easy in the lot out front. My food was ready when quoted. I had no wait picking up my food despite a few other customers being there. It seemed like most people order take out here but they have plenty of tables and chairs if you prefer to eat in house. The prices were very fair and portions were ample. I ordered my 3 favorite Thai items: Chicken Tom Kha soup, Beef Panang, and veggie Pad Thai. The Tom Kha soup was delicious 5 stars. The Pad Thai was phenomenal! Also 5 stars and my favorite Pad Thai of all the area Thai restaurants. The Beef Panang was delicious. The sauce was much thinner than I'm used to but it was very tasty nonetheless. I ordered a 4 out of 5 spice. It wasn't as spicy as I wished so next time I'll get a 5 out 5 aka Thai Hot spice level. I would rank this as 4 stars. I'll try it again for sure. The menu has your standard Thai offerings. It doesn't list what is gluten free which isn't delightful as someone gluten free. I only knew the items I ordered are gluten free from eating at other Thai restaurants so much. That would be my only recommendation for them to consider. There's probably many more things I could eat there that I'm not aware of which is why the gluten free menu would be helpful. The front of the menu does state vegan and gluten free options but doesn't denote what is what inside. The website doesn't either. I'll definitely go here again. What a great addition to Goffstown!

Food is unbelievable!! Owners are such hard workers and extremely friendly! I often bring friends there and everyone loves it.

Best Thai food ever! Owners are very friendly always happy to see the regular costumers back. I often bring friends there and everyone absolutely love the place. Portions are pretty big and serves 2 people,l so definitely a great deal!

Shumai

Disappointing, asked for shrimp shumai got chicken. They were so soggy they tasted like loose scrambled eggs hanging off of a chicken meatball. Tom Kha soup with noodles and shrimp, flavorless. I don't think it was made traditionally. Both my husband and I got 2 shrimps. Not worth the money. i was very disappointed I've ordered from here before and I remember it being good.

Food was great. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the chicken massaman. A little surprised the place was empty on a Saturday night.

But unfortunately it misses the mark for my standards, having lived around the country in larger metro areas where competition forces restaurants to try harder to succeed. The only conceivable reason this place has survived thus far is because the locals don't know good Thai food for comparison. It's convenient to Bedford and Amherst, but the flavors are muted. I've tried multiple noodle dishes and they are all too similar with some reused sauce that tastes blah and almost burned. The chicken is almost always dry and the ingredients don't seem fresh at all, more like old produce scraps from Hannaford. Everyone I ask has the same opinion about the food here. I will say that the bao buns are actually good, but I'm there for the entree that consistently disappoints despite the prices suggesting it's at another tier. The owner is defensive about negative reviews as well, so that tells you all you need to know. They say that tastes are a preference and their prices are reasonable because nothing is "premade." I'm sorry I thought freshness was implied for a sit down restaurant and I also thought owners would consider improving based on critical feedback. Maybe offering incentives to return. None of the above, I'm wrong evidently. So, go see for yourself if you have $18 to burn on lunch takeout (including tip).

We all gos our drinks and placed our orders in and my daughter and mother in law got their food. Papaya salad and chicken skin. The chicken skin was amazing especially with the sauce. Really enjoyed the sticky rice which looks hard but isn't. I ordered the Pad Kra Pao with pork but Pho came in and I told them we didn't ordered that. Then an order of crab Rangoons came which we didn't order and we list let it sit on our table and about 10 min went by and we decided to eat it since I was getting hungry. I sat there for about an hour waiting for my food then the owner came out to show me what she wrote down and we crossed everything off that came then she said it would be coming out. Another 20 min pass and they deliver my food which was wrong again lol... I laughed it off because I know they're trying but I didn't send it back since I was getting hangry. All the food was great, they just need to get a better system from taking orders and getting those orders to the chef and brining the items to the correct table. To top it off, she gave us our recipe and that was all wrong as well. Like I said the food is amazing just getting what you ordered was the hard part. I hope to give this place a try but not sure yet.

It also "gets it" when it comes to food preparation and taste. And finally, the place is such a beautifully cozy place. I fell in love with the restaurant as soon as we entered and things got better as time went on. The day started with a visit to the Currier Museum with a group, and afterwards, we all decided to go to Daw Kun Thai. We live an hour away from Manchester, so with little breakfast, we were ravenously hungry came lunch time. Having visited Thailand many times in my younger years, I developed an affinity to Thai food as nutritious, healthy and delicious. As well, Thai culture and people are as wonderful as you can think of. So when a Thai restaurant was mentioned, I gave it a big thumbs up. The folks in our group from Manchester were singing the praises of their food too We entered and were immediately seated. The owner greeted us courteously and it took a while for everyone to decipher the menu offerings. I had the Yum Talai, a succulent chicken salad with all kinds of vegetables and an unforgettable sauce. Superb menu. We left fully satiated and thankful for such a wonderful place existing in New Hampshire. We'll be back.

The papaya salad was very reasonably priced but the heat! Oh my. Both of us are used to and enjoy higher spice levels but this was so spicy my wife couldn't finish hers. Had to eat some banana that we had in the fruit bowl to cut the tongue tingling. Other than being way too spicy the flavor was good. The drunken noodles, on the other hand. Wow. Worst we've ever had and my wife declined to eat any. It didn't taste bad, per se, it just didn't have any taste. I left it for the next day and mixed up my own drunken noodle sauce, revived the noodles on the stovetop and reseasoned with my sauce. Brought it up to "that's pretty good". But without that I wouldn't have eaten it either. Thai fried rice was very good, as was the green curry. Crab rangoon was so-so.
