Awesome Chicken Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Both use fresh ingredients, cooked to order

This was a first class experience from beginning to end. This restaurant "gets it" when it comes to customer satisfaction and service. It also "gets it" when it comes to food preparation and taste. And finally, the place is such a beautifully cozy place. I fell in love with the restaurant as soon as we entered and things got better as time went on. The day started with a visit to the Currier Museum with a group, and afterwards, we all decided to go to Daw Kun Thai. We live an hour away from Manchester, so with little breakfast, we were ravenously hungry came lunch time. Having visited Thailand many times in my younger years, I developed an affinity to Thai food as nutritious, healthy and delicious. As well, Thai culture and people are as wonderful as you can think of. So when a Thai restaurant was mentioned, I gave it a big thumbs up. The folks in our group from Manchester were singing the praises of their food too We entered and were immediately seated. The owner greeted us courteously and it took a while for everyone to decipher the menu offerings. I had the Yum Talai, a succulent chicken salad with all kinds of vegetables and an unforgettable sauce. Superb menu. We left fully satiated and thankful for such a wonderful place existing in New Hampshire. We'll be back. read more

This was definitely an interesting stop on a road trip from Boston to Vermont. This Thai spot ended up being quite good, though I have lingering questions about the "authenticity" that they proudly market. We met 2 staff members - the host and a waitress - and both were white. In fact, the waitress couldn't even pronounce most of the dishes on the menu, which was unfortunate. But despite that, the food was quite good, and I left quite satisfied. The fish cakes were excellent, and the spice level was true to what we asked for (for example, a 3 definitely had some kick). The water feature in the center of the restaurant and the decor was quite pretty, and we enjoyed the conversation around the tavern games with the host - these puzzles originated during the Dark Ages in Britain, so no real tie to Thailand, but may still be of interest to try your hand at. read more

Wow! Amazing food! Their "drunken noodles" (Pad kee mao) was really, really good. And when you ask to make it 'spicy', they deliver! It was perfect! Crispy calamari was great! Friendly server too. We will definitely go back when we're driving by Manchester! This place is on my top-five list of Thai restaurants! read more

The food here is consistently delicious. Most recent order included the chicken dumplings, red curry with chicken and veggies, and house special beef with peppers and onions. Each dish was so flavorful, with generous portions. Highly recommend. read more

This husband and wife team are great! He runs the front of the house while she does the cooking. My husband and I pop in from time to time when I get a craving for pad Thai or some really great rice dishes, but last time I tried their wonton soup. Far and away it was the best I have ever had. Part thai was just mediocre the calamari and fried spring rolls were cooked perfectly. The service was great and I loved the ambiance with a small pond in the middle of the restaurant and beautiful luscious plants the Thai ice tea was good flavor. I had the shrimp pad thai they had 5 or 6 really small shrimp but there was something missing I can't put my finger on it but I guess I would call it bland. read more

Golly, Miss Molly - what a find! One of the only things I miss from California is the presence of 11th Tiger, a superb Thai restaurant that really offered authentic Thai dishes - not the generic McThai that one finds 90% of the time. Well ... guess what?! Daw Kun Thai has shown itself to be a worthy replacement. More than worthy, in fact. These guys understand and serve up authentic Thai. Here's an example of why they're so good. I asked whether a dish could be de-spiced for my guest because he's not attuned to spicy. And their answer was "Nope". Went on to explain that the dishes all have a base level of spice and they can amp it up but reducing it below what it calls for hurts the integrity of the recipe and the dish. How rare is that? The opposite of dumbing down the food to fit the clueless customer. Can't tell you how pleased I was with that. Don't feel bad for my guest - it just meant that he had to move over to a non-starred dish and he loved it. Eggplant and pork. On my side I had one of their fish specialties - Pla Rad Prik - and it was sensational. Absolutely going to get a repeat on that one. In a prior visit I had their Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and it was delicious but also quite spicy. Never had it spiced up like that before so if you don't want your noodles spicy go for the Pad See Ewe. My wife had the Choo Chee Salmon and that was another winner. She pronounced it one of the best salmon dishes she's had. We all split their homemade Thai ice cream, made from Thai tea. Very unique flavor and they tell me it's very hard to get, even in Thailand. Definitely worth a sample. Their mango and sticky rice was also delicious but pretty similar to what other places offer - it's hard to improve on ripe mango, sticky rice and sweet coconut sauce. Lots of parking outside. Getting into the parking lot is a bit awkward from one direction as it's on a one-way street. read more

Food was delicious. But when we were there, the waitress never once mentioned that the "extra vegetables" would be an extra add on charge. I thought it was just personalizing it. I was unaware until the check came and my pad see ew was about $25 more expensive than I expected. I paid and did not make a fuss. But I did not expect a surcharge for every extra vegetable. I will probably come back. But maybe just for take-out so I don't feel taken advantage of and know what I am ordering. read more

Daw Kun Authentic Thai Restaurant in Manchester on 93 S Maple St was excellent. I went for a business lunch and greatly enjoyed the chicken dish as well as the whole fried fish. I hunted for a authentic experience thst had the sake style of fish I ate in Thailand. Daw Kun nailed it! Accompanying the dish was sticky rice served in a little basket that was made in the same village in ice cold Thai Ice teas were a great way to cool off! Thailand the co owner was from. The husband and wife team provide an exceptional experience while chatting about my trips to Thailand. I can't wait to go back to try more dishes. There are a lot of dishes that really honor the real food I had while there. Other Thai restaurants ate too Americanized for me so I'm so pleased! I also took take out yummy pineapple friend rice and delish Massaman Curry. So so happy with my experience and food!! read more

Starting off with a friendly host that seated me right away in a very booth next to their pretty water garden. The food was great. A+ everything is made in house including the sauces and pastry wraps. I had the curry puffs which were some of the better ones I've had. The coconut soup was delicious and a little different. They don't put chucks of lemon grass in which I like better as the lemon grass shoots are hard to eat. I also had the Laab Kai which was at medium pretty spicy. Lots of flavors in it and was juicy. They took the time to cut individual lettuce wraps unlike most places that just give you a giant wedge. I will definitly come back when I'm up this way. read more

The best melt your face off Thai. I love spicy, flavorful food and Daw Kun Thai is just crazy good. My lips go numb from the chilies, but I just keep eating. The chef does not play if you go for Thai hot food. Favorite dishes: Yum Wun Sen, Laab Kai, Yum Som Tom, Lab Kai, and sticky rice. Soooo good. read more

Came to eat with my daughter after a long, hot day of softball. The food was absolutely delicious. Servings were generous and had enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. We used to go here when they were at their previous location. The food was good, but we found several places that we enjoyed more. We we're driving buy their new location and decided to stop in. I ordered the Kang Dang. I asked to substitute the chicken with pork and was never told that there was an up charge of $3.75. The food was good, but not as good as the other places we go. So, due to the unexpected up charge and the just okay food, we will most likely stay away again. read more

I was invited to lunch by a friend and he said I've got a place for you. The owner is a great guy and the food is awesome. We arrived to the location via some back roads to the location off South Willow on South Main Street when I was like oh I know where I am. This is the Savers Plaza for those unfamiliar with the location. First let me tell you this is the first time I've been in A Thai restaurant. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival and we were seated. We walked past a beautiful waterfall on it way to our seats. We ordered or drinks and we're given menus. While we were looking at the menus we were given house soup which I've never had. It was great. It's a clear broth like soup with scallions shredded carrots and I believe cabbage. My friends wife had mentioned this soup was her favorite. She even ordered more to take home. For the main course I ordered the Khao Pad Kai(jasmine fried rice with chicken). Other dishes ordered were Kung Pad Thai (shrimp Pad Thai), a sweet pork dish and some Tod Mun Pla(curried fish cakes with cucumber sauce). All the food portions are huge. No one could finish their dishes. My rice was fantastic with generous portions of chicken. For my first Thai restaurant experience I feel bad for next place I try as they have a lot to live up to. Food was great, Satay was tender and Peanut Sauce was perfect. Nice touch with the Cucumber Salad. Mango Pork Curry was good, first time having warm mango, I added Fried Rice and I enjoyed it. Weirdest thai restaurant I ever been to. First of all, it has terrible ( zero) ambiance. It's a rather hollow large space - sparsley decorated except for this big bizarre childishly constructed corral with a cheesy waterfall and mountain scene with plastic toy figures and plants - truly hideous and an eyesore.... The waiter was this middle aged local dude sporting a big brimmed cowboy hat! The dining room had an odd smell about it - probably algae growing in the water feature combined with cooking spices and old building funk. The food wasn't terrible - but it wasn't great either... I've had much better pad see ew noodles elsewhere.I could overlook the interior issues if the food was really awesome... but for what I got it was really overpriced! read more

Best place in Manchester for Thai! The staff was extremely friendly and our waitress was the sweetest! She was so attentive to us even though it was New Year's Eve. Afterwards she helped us pack up our left overs. Truly an amazing place on top of the awesome tasting food. Will be back again!!! read more

Food was ok. Pricy for what we had. Alcohol drinks were double the price of what they would have been anywhere else. I vacationed in Thailand for 10 days and the food was amazing fresh and very aromatic. The food here was ok. The curry was really good but the app and the other entree was not up to Thai standards. My friend and I split a fried calamari and I got the Kuay Teaw Tom Yum Kai. I love this noodle dish so much that I could eat it everyday. It is spicy but if it wasn't it wouldn't taste as good in my opinion. The flavor was amazing and I got it with egg noodles (I think that's what it's called). I could go on and on about this place because it's that good. But you really need to see for yourself. The staff is super friendly and really knowledgeable about Thai cuisine and what's traditional Thai. If I could give this more than five stars I would.
