Photograph of the non-original black replacement screw

Dear uBreakiFix by Asurion Customer Service Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to file a complaint regarding my repair experience at your uBreakiFix by Asurion location at 1645 E Camelback Rd Suite 104, Phoenix, AZ 85016. I brought my laptop in for internal cleaning, diagnosis, and fan replacement due to abnormal fan noise. After receiving my device, I immediately observed that a rear case screw (middle-left of four aligned screws) was missing and that a physical protrusion/deformation is now present on the chassis that did not exist prior to service. Both conditions are new and were not present when I dropped off the laptop. After I reported the missing screw, the assigned technician took my laptop into the back for approximately 10-15 minutes and then returned, stating that the screw had already been missing when I dropped off the device. This statement is false. I have dated photographs taken before service that clearly show the screw intact and the chassis undamaged. After I informed him that I had photographic proof and showed it to him, he again took my laptop into the back. When he returned, I saw that the remaining screws had been rearranged. The missing screw position had been moved from the middle-left to the far-left. I did not understand why they did this. He then stated that they "could not find the screw" and that unless I left my laptop at the store again, nothing would be done. When I asked why the device would need to be retained merely to identify or replace a manufacturer-standard screw, despite the brand and model already being documented, I was told that "without the laptop, we cannot find the correct screw." This response was not credible and reasonable, as they had all the necessary information. During this interaction, the technician raised his voice and then walked away to assist other customers. The store's security cameras will record the contradiction between his initial false statement and his later attempt to "solve" the issue. Eventually, another employee took my device into the back again. After further waiting, my laptop was returned with a non-original black screw installed that does not match the original silver hardware. Due to the excessive time already spent and my urgent need for my device, I reluctantly accepted the laptop and left. For completeness and fairness, I would also like to note that I do not have photographs of the employee named Breanna (or the female employee who was in the back speaking with the technician), as she remained in the back area throughout the interaction and was not visible to customers. I am attaching the following numbered photographs: 1. Back of laptop prior to service showing no missing screw 2. Interior of laptop prior to service showing no protrusion/deformation 3-4. Photographs showing the missing screw position after pickup 5. Photograph showing the protrusion/deformation after pickup 8-9. Photograph of the non-original black replacement screw 10. Photograph of the storefront location This issue involves physical damage to my device, loss and replacement of original hardware, false statements made to conceal fault, further tampering after the issue was discovered, dismissive and raised-voice conduct by staff, and failure to follow professional standards, transparency, and accountability. I am requesting written acknowledgment that the damage and missing hardware occurred during service, confirmation that my device's internal structure has not been compromised, a formal apology for staff conduct and misrepresentation, and appropriate compensation and corrective action. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise on next steps. Sincerely

State website say they take rechargeable batteries. They refused don't waste your time.

Fix state website to match the actually batteries that are taken. What a waste of time they only take lithium batteries.

Rules for the lobby. Only 2 customers or a family at a time.

I unfortunately come to this place way too often because I abuse my phones, but I'm glad they're here. They are always friendly and timely in getting my devices back to me. Sometimes there's a wait, but that's because they seem to always be busy and the check-in is thorough. They will diagnose prior and call you prior to doing work if needed. I have brought multiple phones for varying issues from broken glass to speakers issues and changing the drives in my iMac and finally HD recovery in an old PC.

The technician pulled the broken pin from the power source input. They didn't even charge me for it. Highly recommend.

We also consulted about another old phone we have and they were super helpful and honest about it not being worth repairing.

As a professor teaching surgical technologists and nurses--with a medical background including…read moredoctoral training and a neurology certificate--I have spent years explaining precision, critical thinking, and what it means when something is truly "in critical condition." Let me just say... my computer was there. And it needed a transfer / transplant of all my data for years. And then I took it to UBreakiFix. Now, I expected a repair. Maybe a polite "we'll do our best." What I got instead was Incredible IT service and more like a full-scale neurological intervention--minus the operating room and the dramatic music. If a neurosurgeon restores the human brain, then UBreakiFix restored the soul of my computer. They fix it--they revived it, optimized it, and sent it home functioning better than it had in years.

What I got instead was a cold dismissal and an attempt to charge me directly--despite the fact that my phone was still under insurance. It genuinely felt like they were trying to double dip: make me pay out-of-pocket while also billing Verizon. But what really shocked me was the attitude. They stood firmly behind a multi-billion dollar corporation instead of helping a real person who just spent good money on a brand-new phone. No empathy, no effort, no customer service. Just a shrug and a bill. Thankfully, I found the 7th Street location in Phoenix, and they were everything this place wasn't--kind, helpful, and got my phone fixed through insurance in just a few hours. Bottom line: if you want to be treated like a human being, skip this location. They've clearly forgotten who keeps the lights on.
