I went to Uchibā for my birthday lunch. This restaurant is lovely, we were able to reserve a table on their rooftop. Upon arriving they sent a text that they validate parking for the garage across the street which was nice. The restaurant is beautiful, with lovely rooftop views. Our server was awesome! She was so nice and recommended the best dishes! We ordered lots of different dishes but I highly recommend ordering the uchiba salad!

When I dined at Uchibā, I sat on their covered patio. It was a nice evening and the weather felt great. Our waiter was very thorough and kept food safety at the top of his mind which was really appreciated. I'd go back to enjoy the atmosphere.

Such a fun space! Love the atmosphere and music upstairs. Much more laidback vibe than Uchi, while still felt upscale. Our server Gina was fantastic!! We tried most of the menu. Everything was tasty! New fav spot for quick and filling bites. Can't beat the $10 smash burger or chicken sandwich. Food comes out as it's ready so be patient or find a new place.

Came to Uchiba during lunch time and the host had great customer service. They do validate parking and the prices are decent. We had the chicken wings and fries. I gotta say, the chicken wings were not the best you could really taste that the chicken was underseasoned, and it was only 6 pieces for $15. The fries were just plain, nothing special. Our waitress was good though, no complaints there. The only other thing I can say is that the view was decent and the drinks were not too bad. Would I go there again? Probably not, but the ambience seemed good.

Uchiba is like Uchi's little sister but more hip and laidback. Just like Uchi, the food was amazing and service top notch here. If you're stuck between which one to go to, go to Uchi if your priority is food and a nice meal; go to Uchiba if you're looking for a chill spot to hangout with great drinks and bites. The views are great up there with nice patio seating with fire pits, lounge seating, bar seating, but also table seating too! They are now easily both my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. Overall: 4.9/5 When: 8:30pm Tuesday, dine in with reservation for patio seating. We were seating at a fire pit. Food: 4.9/5 - We ordered the sake toro (salmon belly) nigiri, namahotate (dayboat scallop) nigiri, bluefin akami nigiri, bluefin chutoro nigiri, otoro nigiri, hama chili, uchiba salad, okonomiyaki fries, rock shrimp karaage, chicken wings, wagyu beef skewer, fried milk ice cream sundae and taiyaki. The fish was SOOOOOO FRESH AND SO GOOD. I can't reiterate enough how good their fish is here. The fish has always been our favorite- no surprise there! The chutoro was insane... 10/10. All of the other nigiris were amazing too and would recommend trying all of them! Hama chili is a known cult favorite, for a good reason. The chicken wings were super crispy- love a good dry rub with salt and pepper! The fried milk ice cream if you haven't before- it's definitely different but SO good. I'm obsessed with the wagyu nigiri downstairs at Uchi so I did wish it was on the menu upstairs- but we can't have it all haha! The two dishes we would not get again were the taiyaki and rock shrimp karaage. The taiyaki was great but there are better desserts on their menu, and to our disappointment the shrimp karaage was not good and the only dish so far out of the 30+ dishes we've tried that we would not personally ever eat again. The shrimp were small and the tobajan made the exterior soggy and not crispy. Drink: 4.9/5 - My friends ordered the Hiro Spritz and Subarashi and they both loved their drinks! They have an extensive drink menu- we'd probably try to split a bottle of wine next time. Service: 5/5 - Our server was Amy and she was the best girl's girl- she knew we were there to EAT lol. Since we were seated at the fire pit and had smaller tables, it was so helpful that the food runners and bussers came around picked up our plates quickly since we had little room to work with. Amy fired up our dishes at the perfect time, with each dish coming out right on schedule. We never had too many dishes at once or too little dishes. They filled up our waters as we were running low, replaced our small plates with clean ones, and more. Service is top notch here- best of the best in Charlotte! As each dish was dropped off, they explained every ingredient in each dish and how to eat each dish in order to enjoy them to the fullest. Vibe: 4.9/5 - Like I said earlier, if you're more focused on food then definitely go downstairs to Uchi. If you want some drinks or are not super hungry, come upstairs to Uchiba! We were here on a girl's night out wanting to grub on some food and get some drinks and it was perfect for us to yap by the fire. Something to note is that if you get seated at the fire pit, you can still eat but it will be harder since they have small side tables for you and not an actual table. They can put a top over the firepit for a larger table but it sits really low so that would be awkward too. We made it work though- we passed around our dishes! The ambiance, lighting + music was perfect for a rooftop vibe. They played some bangers like john summit and odesza- so you already know it's gonna be a good time. Other: It's a higher end, pricier restaurant but quality is unmatched and totally worth it. They also have happy hour daily from 4-6 and nigiri happy hour from 4-5:30pm which makes it more affordable. Uchiba's apple maps location does take you to the right spot but Uchi does not. They're NOT located at the Edison apartments. It's located in its own brick building across Commonwealth Ave from Harriett's Hamburgers. To get to uchiba, walk up the metal stairs on the side of the building. Parking is in the parking garage by Harriett's. It is paid parking, not sure if Uchi validates or not (we didn't ask). If you want free parking, we recommend street parking in the neighborhood on the other side of the 74 bridge and walking. There's also valet too right outside! What a great experience. Was seated in the patio area and the weather was perfect. When we sat, they had turned on the heaters as it was just around 60°...but after a few minutes it was getting warm. The staff immediately noticed and the heaters were turned off. Great attention to how the patrons were feeling. We started with cocktails...the Espresso Martini and XO Of Fashion were both great. We also each had dirty (one gin and one vodka) martinis that were fantastic...mine only came with one olive, but our server immediately brought more. The food was fantastic. We started with the Hamachi tamaki which was great. The wagyu burger was next and was solid and juicy. The okonomiyaki fries were different and welcomed. The next were the chicken dumplings which to me were the star of the meal, simple but so flavorful. And finally we had the chicken wings with a smaltz aioli that was fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a semi casual place with solid drinks and food. Give it a try soon!

I had a great time here for Mother's Day! Waitstaff was accommodating of various needs amongst myself vegan and non-vegan table mates. It was all tasty and I'm sure I'll be back

The food was AMAZING, but the overall dining experience was lacking a bit. I know they're still newer and it takes time for restaurants to find their rhythm, so I want to give some grace there. However, things felt pretty hectic throughout the meal. We weren't greeted by a server until about 10 minutes after being seated, the food took quite a while to come out, and there seemed to be confusion with dishes being brought to our table, a few times we weren't sure if the items were ours or meant for another table. The food itself was great, but the service experience could definitely use some smoothing out.

I was so excited to try this new spot in plaza midwood and it did not disappoint!! Definitely recommend getting a reservation in advance- our table was inside but the host was able to get us sat outside on the roof top which is a fantastic vibe. Our servers were so friendly and helpful. We did have a little mix up with our drinks but they comped us an extra drink for the wait which I appreciated! We got the servers top picks and everything was delicious! I genuinely cannot wait to come back with my girlfriends for a GNO! Adding this to my top favorite spots in Charlotte for girls night, date spot and visitor recommendations!

Great food and such a fun experience!…read more We loved trying a variety of foods and cooking them ourselves making it a unique experience. We had great service. Our waiter had a few tables and did not stop all night from drinks to food he was always there to help up. The broccoli with melted cheese and cheese corn were some of our favorites! The chicken did not seem to have a lot of flavor/ sauce, but we may have overcooked it. All of the steaks were tasty and delicious!!

I've enjoyed Korean barbecue many times, so when I saw the price, I thought I had found a great midday option. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The happy hour kalbi turned out to be four small pieces of meat for $9.95, which I had to cook myself. A bowl of rice was an additional charge, and there were no sides, vegetables, soup, or salad included. I left the restaurant still hungry, which is never a good sign after lunch. What disappointed me most was the lack of guidance and hospitality. As someone new to Japanese-style barbecue, I asked a few simple questions to understand what I was ordering. When I confirmed this was the happy hour portion, the server said yes--but didn't explain the serving size or suggest additional items. A little coaching would have gone a long way. At one point, when I asked whether the meal came with sides like banchan or rice, I was told, "This is not Korean barbecue." I completely understand the distinction now, but the tone felt curt rather than helpful. Hospitality is about helping guests navigate something unfamiliar, not making them feel like they should already know. I also ordered iced water with lemon, and the lemon never arrived...only the ice water. Was this an omen of what's to come?? Another frustration was the parking situation. I paid for parking through ParkMobile outside the restaurant, only to discover after entering that parking validation was available inside. That information would have been much more useful if it had been communicated clearly before guests park or pay. From a customer experience standpoint, it feels like something that could easily be improved with better signage--lead with the good stuff. The location itself is also somewhat isolated. While technically in Uptown, it's not in a particularly walkable or high-traffic area, so most guests will need to park in a garage or pay for street parking. There isn't much nearby other than an apartment complex above the restaurant, which makes clear parking instructions and strong service even more important. To be fair, the restaurant was clean, and the meat itself was flavorful. The concept of Japanese BBQ is interesting, and I now understand that this style is very different from Korean BBQ, with smaller, à-la-carte portions designed to be built into a meal. That said, the overall experience felt transactional rather than welcoming. I left hungry--and disappointed--not because of the food quality, but because the service and communication could have been better at several points along the way. This visit felt like a missed opportunity. With a little more attentiveness, clearer guidance, and stronger customer engagement, the experience could have been completely different. Don't let one restaurant deter you. Life is short--get out there and eat.

To make things worse, the initial plates came out cold (both mine and my date's) which was very disappointing. My remade plate did come out hot, but by then the experience was already affected. I also didn't like that it's $5 extra for more rice, even if you're just trying to substitute it for the veggies. That felt unnecessary. The fried calamari tasted like it came straight out of a frozen box, and instead of squid rings, it was more like straight pieces of squid, which wasn't what I expected. To top it off, I found what looked like a white hair in my food and had to get my plate remade. The server was very nice and handled it well, which I appreciated, but the overall food quality just didn't make up for it. As someone who eats hibachi often, I'd say this spot needs to add more flavor and seasoning to really stand out. I'd probably pass on this hibachi spot.

We ordered a double order of the Philly roll, an order of dumplings, and a hibachi steak with mushrooms plate to go for about $48. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and made ordering very smooth/easy. There isn't really a waiting area per se, so we sat at a table while waiting on our order (which didn't take very long). Philly Roll: kids liked it. You can't really go wrong with smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. The fish tasted fresh. Dumplings: I think this was supposed to come with 6, but we only had 5. The dumplings are a mix of chicken and pork. They tasted okay. I prefer pan fried, while there were more so steamed. Hibachi steak with mushrooms: comes with sweet carrots, fried rice, and a 4oz container of white sauce. The carrots were indeed sweet (naturally) but quite mushy. I found the rice and the steak to both lack seasoning. The sauce was a MUST. I wish I was asked how I like my steak cooked cuz these were bordering well done. Nonetheless, I don't think I'll go back here for hibachi or dumplings. The sushi is a maybe but for its price point, I can find better or cheaper options that are comparable in taste.

We started with the pork gyoza, which were delivered quickly and were delicious. For our entrees, I had the Tonkotsu Black with added braised tofu, and my husband had the Spicy Tantan. I don't usually like eggs in my ramen (because they are never cooked enough), but Menya cooked theirs perfectly soft boiled, and I loved the flavor the egg added to the soup. Both soups had complex flavors, and we loved them. The tofu was great--thinly sliced and flavorful, if a bit salty--but I am not sure I'd need it again. My husband thought his soup was perfectly spicy. A note about parking - if you can park in the lot in front of the building, you scan a QR code, and open a parking time block. (I believe Menya paid for a 2-hour block.) You then enter the information on an iPad at the back of the restaurant to validate your parking and start the clock. It was easier than I expected, and I'd definitely use this parking service again. And if you can't get a spot in the lot in front of the building, you can park on the neighborhood streets just one or two blocks away. All told, it was a great meal for a reasonable cost. We'll definitely return!
