    Salmon Dream & Sapporo roll

The sushi here ranks among some of the best I've had in Charlotte. Consistently fresh, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. On my first visit here, I literally sat next to Russell Wilson and Ciara, so it really says something (to me) that even celebrities come here. I will say that the ambience and service have always left a lot to be desired. Like they literally could not care less when it comes to the basics of hospitality. So if you're okay with sacrificing the service element for some fantastic, and I do mean fantastic, food, then this place will do it for you. No mess, just good hole-in-the-wall sushi heaven.

I ordered pickup for lunch and walked from my office. By the time I got there, I was surprised that my order was ready all within the 10 minute walk. Quick and easy! I got the lunch special which includes two maki rolls and a house salad. I chose to get the crunchy roll and spicy yellowtail roll. Nothing crazy, pretty basic rolls. I would have liked equal ratios of fish to rice in the spicy yellowtail roll as you can see it's mostly rice. I don't normally order cooked rolls but I wanted to try something different and I enjoyed the crunchy roll... more than the other roll. (Made with shrimp tempura, avocado, and cream cheese) It was nice that they threw in a salad with the lunch special however the ginger dressing is not what you get at most other places, this is more of a mayo based. The sushi wasn't bad but don't expect the best of the best. All for $13, I would say that is a good deal. If you want sushi for quick and easy, this is an option.

This place is an affordable spot for a lunch outing during work. I got Combo A, the two sushi rolls: spicy salmon and regular salmon. Both were good and tasty! It comes with a salad. The lo mein wasn't bad! Lunch potion size but filled me up. The Singaporean noodles were good too so I would pick either or for noodles! Service was fast during their lunch rush uptown! Ambiance was okay! Nothing crazy. I will most likely come here again in the near future.

    Great food.

I absolutely love this place. I have taken all of my family to Thai establishment. Even though it's a eatery that I frequent while at work, I have come here several times in the evening to eat here. The dish I love is the garlic chicken. Oh so good. The owner/manager always knows what I want and it always comes out the same; hot and delicious. If you like Asian Cuisine, you must try this place! The pricing is very reasonable too!

My go-to sushi joint in uptown. Easy walk and consistently good. Cant go wrong w Combo B that comes w a maki and four nigiri (your choice)!!!

Spectacular. Just spectacular! This place has made it for over a decade in uptown Charlotte, which has been a revolving door for restaurants. It's quaint, and no frills, except for the food and service. They just grind here. One of the best sushi spots I've ever been to. Brandon, the manager, runs a tight ship. Go here!

They are currently only doing takeout due to COVID. Ordered Togo lunch - sushi combo and as always, was pleased with their sushi. Unfortunately, because I'm pregnant, I can only have cooked rolls, but they were still just as delicious. I went with the California and crab/cream cheese rolls. Super filling, super fresh, and satisfied the sushi craving. I had also ordered a spring roll, but that was missed in my order. That was the only downside to a perfectly delicious lunch. If you're in uptown, I highly recommend ordering from here, or enjoying a sit down meal when they reopen their dining room!

Rice noodles were good sushi 112 roll was B tier and katsu was so sad a missed opportunity

I actually loved the bright, comfy vibe of the place. Thought it could use a bit louder music to fill the space. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Rainbow Dumplings and this Mango Jasmine Tea drink...and they were all pretty good. Still, I was surprised how my bill totaled about 35 bucks. Normally, I'm not too surprised by the pricing (even for lunch), but it felt a bit high...given that everything was served on paper and plastic wares. I did like how they have these DIY take-home plastic wares accessible and ready to go...so some points for that! Overall, it's just a casual eatery...not a full scale restaurant. I prefer full scale service, complete with nicely plated presentations, but this type of DIY eatery is just something that's becoming more common.

It was pushing 97 degrees outside, and after a long afternoon of computer work and errands, I finally stopped in for the crispy scallion chicken and pan-fried dumplings. Huge portions. Fair prices. Friendly people. Consistently solid food every single time. The best part today honestly might have been the air conditioning. They've got a cool, comfortable space to wait while your order is prepared, which felt amazing after baking outside all day. I forgot to take food photos because I was hungry and ready to get home, but trust me, they pack these takeout containers like a game of Jenga. Nothing spills. Nothing shifts. Everything is packed tight and thoughtfully. Only tiny downside: the dumpling sauce goes into the same container as the hot dumplings, so by the time I got home, it had softened the bottom a bit. Still, the dumpling wrappers are thick and crispy enough to survive the trip. Into the air fryer later they go. One warning: the parking lot can be chaotic since it sits right off busy Providence Road. Just be patient. Cars are constantly pulling in, backing out, blocking entrances, and today people were absolutely treating red lights like suggestions. Saw it multiple times, including a bus cutting across traffic when I had the right-of-way. Charlotte drivers... please relax a little. That said, the food made the trip worth it. Taipei Express is one of those dependable local spots that always comes through when you need a solid meal without spending a fortune. Life is too short to not eat well. I've been chasing good, authentic (or nostalgic?) Chinese food, and I finally found some while visiting the area. The space is bright, open, and comfortable. Unfortunately, the actual experience was nothing like the hype. First, parking is a nightmare. I would seriously add an extra 20-30 minutes just to find a spot. Once we finally made it inside, we waited another 30 minutes to be seated. After sitting down, it took close to another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and then roughly another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. So you're potentially looking at well over an hour and a half of waiting and inconvenience before you really get to eat. And the dim sum cart that brought us there in the first place? We never saw one. They did have a dim sum menu that we could order from, but that was not the experience being promoted in the videos we had seen. The food itself was just okay. Nothing was terrible, but nothing justified the hype or the amount of time and hassle involved. If you've had good dim sum in places like New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, this isn't remotely in the same league. Between the parking, the long waits, slow service, missing dim sum cart, and average food, I genuinely don't understand the crowds. Hard pass for us. Once and done.

It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.
