This is a neighborhood staple although their reviews as of late don't seem to show it, but the same can be said for many other takeout places in era of COVID. Give them a break! I love this place I've lived in BKlyn long enough to remember when they opened and when the location was an old barber shop across from a deli and an auto supply store. The food is great the people are delightful. I love the Basil Chicken, the glass noodles, the curry puffs (so perfect and good). Asicsly inlove everything although the summer rolls are a bit big in that NYC way that I'm always grumbly about - they should be more bite sized in my view and with more variety inside but again they're still good just not my preference. On our last night in NYC (which happened to be our anniversary) we decided that due to the frigid weather we were going to stay close to our daughter's house for dinner. I ordered a green curry that was spicy and had wonderful flavor. The sticky rice with custard I had for dessert was phenomenal, best I have had. I can't complain at all about the food, it was good. They lost some points on the fact that it was so cold in the restaurant that we were eating with our coats on, I was seated next to a space covered with a curtain that had the worst draft. That being said, with my usual Chinese and Thai restaurants closed, my family and I decided to order from Udom. Worst decision we could've made. The white rice my sister ordered cake in a plastic bag that was then put in a microwaveable bag, the side of rice I got with my tofu and vegetables was extremely small and the tofu was not a full portion. My mom called to speak to someone about the order and was met with a rude attitude over the phone. I understand that it's quarantine/lockdown and we can all be frustrated, but this response was really unexpected. I'm not eating hearing again. Lunch runs from 12 pm - 3:30pm and every lunch special entree comes with a small salad, (1) spring roll and (1) friend wonton. Lunch special are $8 - $9 depending on the protein option you choose. Started with a refreshing pink bottle of Sake ($12). I ordered the Udom Basil with Squid. The portion was just enough however I wish the dish had more of a kick. I live around this area for over ten years. This use to be my favorite spot. Mainly for their Rice and jumbo fried chicken Shrimp. Over the years this place food quality dropped. Calamari are always rubbery and dried. Pad Thai not balance in favor and dried. Jumbo shrimp haves a off old taste to them. Little by little my family try to stay away. But there's memories there. Every once in awhile I order food from there to see if anything change. A Change Have Yet To Come. I had raw chicken there last night. I didn't notice until my third bite. This became my go for ordering out during the pandemic. I would have given them 5 stars because I love the food but not their promotional deals. I ordered a lot, every time you order, you rack of some monies (Total $5 cash back). They would send me and email and a text message every time I ordered. One time, I decided to use it. They sent me a text message to order through their link to receive the cash back. I did, and there was no cash back. I contacted them twice to no avail. It's not the $5, I have 5 bucks but be honest, it's the principle of it all. If you're not going to fulfill the promotion, why put it out there? I won't be ordering from them again. Stopped by here on a Monday night for a quick dinner in the neighborhood. Only a few diners inside, so was able to get a two-seater across from the bar. Menu is large (and hard to keep open); separated into various categories. After flagging down the waitress (they seem busy with takeout orders), we settled on the Orange Fish ($14) and the Spicy Eggplants ($10). Food come out in about 20 minutes - large plates served with a side of white rice each. The Orange Fish was overwhelmingly disappointing; the sauce has the consistency of water and tasted more like orange juice. The fish is lightly breaded and didn't taste fresh at all. Vegetables were bland, so only managed to finish the fish and the broccoli. As for the Spicy Eggplant, the sauce on top had a heavy fish flavor, when we asked about it the waitress insisted there wasn't any fish oil used. Mostly finished the tofu from that dish as the rest wasn't appetizing. Not much more to say here, was overall unhappy with the meal. Many other options in the area as to not come back. read more

We were walking by and we were attracted because they had their menu outside which pulled us in. We were seated immediately outdoors and within five minutes server came. One time I ordered some kind of sweet and sour tofu dish and it was absolutely horrible. All I tasted was ketchup. It had a tons of green peppers, hardly no tofu and the tofu it did have was dry. Ordered chicken satay today. Chicken tasted undercooked. I'm praying I don't get sick behind it. It was partially grilled chicken on a sad bed of salad that contained just iceberg lettuce. The green drink with some kind of fruit in it was delicious though, but the dish was overpriced and undercooked. Their thai iced tea taste watery and I swear I'm feeling a little nauseated writing this. Udom proves that you can have good, authentic, ethnic food outside of the city at a reasonable price. We started with the curry puffs which were crispy and fluffy and truly served the purpose of the appetizer; by the time the food came I was ready to sink my teeth into my crispy salmon with tambrind sauce with a side of white rice. O M G That was some of the best salmon I've had outside of my mom's cooking. Honestly. It was flaky on the outside, the skin side was seared and the inside was cooked just right and came apart with a light brush of my fork. I was pleasantly surprised that the fish was cooked just right. The homemade lemonade was also a treat, it wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too tart and they gave us extra sugars so that we can add if needed. Overall a great experience, the staff was friendly and very helpful when we were selected our food and drink choices...its been a while...time to go round there again. :) Definitely a try and affordable. The broccoli was very appetizing; however, it wasn't something I wanted to eat too much of because I could taste all of the salt. The samosas were good. I ordered the N3 - Spicy Basil Noodle with vegetables and tofu. I must say that it was very delicious. The portion size was almost too much, but I can't complain because I ate all of it due to the great taste. My friend ordered the Udom Seafood Fried Rice. I didn't like that dish at all and I would never recommend it. There was way too much ginger. It also had a strong, sweet taste to it (not sure what to blame this on). Good selection in the menu at very reasonable prices. The service was good and attentive and everyone seemed to be pleased with their choice. The place does look like it needs a bit of TLC, just a bit of ambiance enhancement will go a long way to give it a unique atmosphere. Note to Udom management, you are already successful and operating in a great location, don't sit on your laurels and try to coast on location alone. There is too much competition and it is not fair to the effort you made to get to this point. Keep the momentum going, we want to see you succeed and be a dining option for locals for many years to come. Additionally, this time of the year, it is not acceptable to freeze while trying to eat dinner. We came here with our kids and their significant others for our anniversary in late December and froze our butts off during dinner. Most diners actually opt to eat with the coats on which is not exactly comfortable. My friend and I were extremely hungry when ordering our food from this restaurant, and once we arrived the woman taking orders was VERY rude (wish I had a photo of her). She denied our requests for simple condiments, claimed she didn't take card only cash (she accepted card from the next customer!) and refused to hand over our food that we ordered 45mins prior until 30mins after we'd arrived. The food was not tasteful, and I am very disappointed to have had this experience especially during this time. My friend's Traditional Shrimp Fried Rice was "Passable".. according to her.. she's very gracious.. The drinks weren't professionally mixed and were very strong... the recipe CLEARLY wasn't followed. It definitely needs to be renovated to say the least, but if you're looking for good Thai food in the area, I think it's worth checking out. There are quite a few menu selections, its not that big a place but it has a nice vibe flowing. I had fried vegetable dumplings with a ginger soy sauce which was quite tasty. They had a great selection of drinks with excellent happy hour prices which is a plus. Formy entree I had thai fried rice with shrimp whuch was nucely seasoned with onions, tomatoes, eggs, and scallions, wuth cucumbers and a slice of lime on the side. The waitress was very attentive and gave great suggestions. Most importantly of all is the price was light. There was a big table across from me celebrating a birthday and they were very lively.
