Today, the staff dropped the ball and I cannot begin to express how dumbfounded I am with their lack of communication with one another. Both of my kids (7mo & 2y) were in the kids club with only one staff member. I was in the jiu jitsu class so my phone was in my bag. As I finished up I notice my phone had multiple missed calls. My baby daughter needed a diaper change, and my son had defecated on himself as well. At what point would it be necessary to have some sort of communication between the child care staff and front end staff to go look for the parent? What if this was a life threatening emergency? I honestly can't wrap my head around the level of negligence that was on display tonight. This level of neglect was the last thing I would've expected. I don't expect the staff to be overly caring for each child but wow, no attempt to go look for me? What is the point of indicating my location when I check in my child if NO ONE will come and search for me? My only location was on the mats. The response I received from the child care staff member was ridiculous to say the least. The reviews speak for themselves - a lot of complaints followed by generic, diplomatic responses from the gym. What a great idea, everything you would want in a gym but fueled by inadequate workers - at least tonight it was. read more

I love coming to UFC, I've been coming to this gym since last year and Place is great, place is clean. We got a family bundle for 3 years. They fix machines and keep equipment maintained. Everyone pretty much MINDS their own business when they are working out. I've never had a problem with any of the staff and they are respectful. The only problem I have encountered at this gym is with a female that works here. Every time I go with my fiancé to get a tan she is being disrespectful, making faces, cracking jokes , if I wanted to go to a circus and laugh I'll go but I come to work out. She recently made this comment to my fiancé that " if he was on a leash like a dog All employees here have never been rude to me or my partner, I don't know what are their etiquette (policy) when dealing with unprofessional employees, in any business this would be an automatic red flag, (in my 20+ years in customer service I would rate this -1 star on behalf of their one bad apple) read more

I signed up for the gym with a contract and the express representation that I could transfer coaching classes to my wife if she signed up. When she did sign up, they reneged on their representation. Then my wife, who had signed up on the theory she could use my coaching sessions, in addition to the four sessions she had for signing up, pursued the four sessions she had for signing up She was unable to use my sessions as additional transferred coaching sessions. Then they automatically withdrew money from her credit card for an additional four sessions without her consent and would not drop the additional charges on request. This is generally a great gym. It's clean and the machines are well kept. My trainer is amazing and Ive never enjoyed taking lessons so much before. My ONE COMPLAINT- and it's kind of a big one.... Is that I paid a higher price for a membership that I was told would give me access to certain classes, and the cheaper one would not. WELL..... it turns out there are so many people sneaking into classes without the proper membership that classes suck because everyone is tense from it being overcrowded and no one gives a crap. It's been brought up to management who does nothing about it. SO WHY DID I PAY EXTRA? upsetting! read more

Second what everyone is saying about their deceptive billing practices!! This gym is nothing but a scam. I signed up for a 2 year membership, when it was time to sign the contract, i pointed out the expiration date was blank. The salesman said don't worry about it, it is a two-year contract. Seventeen months later I get a text message reminding me my membership will expire in a month. I spoke to management and politely told them there was a mistake. They pulled up the contract I signed and now the expiration date was filled in - for 18 months. The manager apologized for my inconvenience and generously told me that he would happily accept my payment (at full price) for the next six months if I wanted to actually use the membership that I had already paid for. Is it my fault for signing a contract with a blank space? Absolutely! That does not excuse them for doing what they did. My advice to anyone wanting to sign up for this scam/gym is to read the contract carefully and refuse to sign if anything is blank. Before you do that though, ask yourself why do you want to do business with a place if you have to read the contract carefully? read more

Nice enough gym but absolutely messes up billing practices and awful contractual agreements. Be careful! Your agreement leaves you no recourse to cancel and they will continue to charge your credit card. Denise Camarena, the Operations Manager could care less, it's all about the money. Read the other reviews and BBB complaints. No ethics or morals even with preexisting back and neck injuries, they'll shove the contract in your face. BEWARE BEFORE SIGNING UP! Think twice about signing up at this trash of a gym. Very unprofessional and will tell u what u want to here to sign you up then kick your to the curve once they have your money. We signed up our kids for youth classes and my 13 yr old for a personal trainer which we paid for all upfront. Out of nowhere this "trainer" says she's all trained now and no more sessions are needed? Excuse me I paid for a certain service and not for when you decide that your done. We complained to gym manager and all he could do was give us a new "trainer" my kids no longer what to go there due to this person and asked for a full or partial refund as we are not getting what we paid for. Real review: I went with a friend and received a two free week offer which is cool. I heard how much they charge and was wondering "wow this place must be great if membership cost that much" It's no different from a workout you can get at anytime fitness or planet fitness. THE SMELL! There is a funk in there that I had to step outside to escape from. It was so bad. That concluded gyms are not it for me. People use the gym to create content to feel validated on their social media accounts later that day. "Here's me with a new PR!" All that shit needs to stop society is full of losers who think like this because of gyms LIKE THESE!!!!! The only thing I liked about that place was the huge tv .. not worth it Cons: gym junkies are allowed to film themselves so you may appear in the background of someone's "workout video" I bet a lot of people here deal with body dysmorphia if they're setting up tri-pods up to record is a bit excessive ... I don't wanna be recorded, people do not mind their own business and can record other clients workout routines critiquing. Basically this gym is for narcissistic tiktokers . It's a joke and continuing people to videotape will be their downfall. Just watch, eventually Dana White will receive a lawsuit due to that and that policy will change. read more

In a fitness aspect this gym has what you need to get your workout life started both in the weight room and mixed martial arts status The coaches for any MMA class vary, some are awesome and very detailed on what you need to do, as others are not and pretty much give a I can't wait till this class is over vibe. The staff, wow does this staff need help. Definitely feels off, when applying for a membership here it feels like your attempting to by a car... had numerous staff members give me different deals haha and I definitely played around until the best deal fit me but it's the sheer fact of watching these staff members back Stab each other for commission I have a friend who applied they didn't deal around and paid pretty high in price while we both got the same plan, prices are good here but if everyone is different on how they hook up deals sucks for individuals not knowing what they are going to get and not being equal to every other individual in the gym. Gym Cleanliness... very very poor cleanliness... I've been to many gyms around this country and this gym by far is top 5 in the dirtiest I've been too not enough staff to keep the gym clean and everyone who works out here relatively has a cocky I'm to good to wipe my equipment type attitude. I really enjoy this gym . There is a competitive atmosphere which makes working out a little more exciting. over all a friendly staff and great community in the gym . I like their recovery center as well . A little pricy but it is extra ... They have a cool juice bar too , it's just takes a while sometimes . Had a membership here and went often with my wife. PROs, CONs, then summary PROs--Workers were very friendly and helpful (and easy on the eyes, respectfully). I used the sauna often, and liked the outdoor workout area as well. This is a newer gym, so everything is still new. What I liked most were the free classes. The MMA, boxing, and jiu-jitsu are part of your membership. I enjoy jiu-jitsu, and jiu-jitsu gyms average price in the area is about $175-200. At UFC gym, you can get jiu-jitsu training as part of your membership. The jiu-jitsu coaches I had there were both black belts, and had a pedigree that was good and verifiable. Coach Pollino and Eric were great, laid back, and funny at times. The locker rooms were clean and the showers too. CONs--Obviously, gets busy at peak hours. Also, as the classes are free, they can get crowded....and a bit overcrowded for the training area. I'd like to see a cap on the number of students enforced and the creation of more classes. Also, I believe the mat should be cleaned a bit more than it is. Another minor issue was that the snack bar is closed during a peak lunch hour, which makes zero sense. Would I go back? Yes. The business manager who is responding to these reviews messaged me directly to attempt to resolve the matter and yet again fell short (not that I am surprised). This person messaged me directly attempting to resolve the matter and despite following the directions that were provided (I.E contact them and provide them with additional information to locate the contract etc with the promise that they'd call on Monday) have been futile. It is now Wednesday at midnight and over the course of 2 business days no efforts have been made from them to resolve the matter. Again, I cannot stress enough to all of you to avoid this place! They continue to make it an absolutely arduous and frustrating process to cancel. In addition to making it difficult, they have the audacity to put the burden on you (I.E call me, come in person etc.). We did our due diligence of cancelling within the grace period clearly stipulated on the contract and we're still being charged. In their effort to try to 'resolve' the matter they still put it on us to follow up with them and again we're met with unresponsiveness and essentially back at square one. The Yelp responses are just bad PR trying to save face. I wouldn't be on here writing these reviews if half the effort that is placed on these 'responses' was placed in actually resolving the issues being presented. Lastly, the lack of customer service and sheer incompetence is the icing on the 'Shitty' cake. When the person reached out they claimed all cancellation requests submitted on the date I submitted were in fact cancelled, which was obviously not true or else I wouldn't be on here posting my bank statements/proving otherwise. read more

The UFC gym has a lot of value compared to other gyms, if you are a practitioner of martial arts, there are a lot of great coaches to help you on your journey in developing your art. If one has learned other martial arts or it's just your first Jujitsu class, Matthew Pollino is a great coach. Coach Pollino takes the time to explain the technique and provides positive feedback. He will be able to identify your level and make sure you are properly challenged to reach your true potential. In his own words, he is "not just Jujitsu". I think his view in real world application and knowledge on the effectiveness of other martial arts is what makes his Jujitsu special. I have learned a lot over the past six months training at the UFC Gym and look forward to growing as a whole in the way of Jujitsu. read more

Great Gym. The Jiu Jitsu instructors are awesome and knowledgeable. Coach Matt, Jason, and Eric are the best. They are very helpful and they want everyone to succeed. My little sister also enjoys the mma classes - they are so much fun - she says. I also take the Wrestling class with Coach Jeremy. The class is challenging but enjoyable haha. My former gym closed without notice, and then transferred my membership to UFC gym Oxnard without my authorization!! The only way I was notified that I was now a member of UFC gym, was seeing a charge on my credit card account. Just imagine a gym charging your card, and you literally did not know this place even existed until they billed your card. Like what the actual F??? I have called (and got suspiciously disconnected twice), and I have also emailed requesting my membership be cancelled and that they notify me when this is confirmed. So now, I am waiting to hear back from the manager and will probably hear a BS story about how I have to come to a gym THAT I HAVE NEVER SET FOOT IN BEFORE, to cancel this unauthorized membership. You're KIDDING. That's what the poor kid who answered the phone told me I needed to do. Thankfully, he was helpful enough to provide me with his manager's email address. Still, this is highly unethical and POOR business management. It's borderline criminal. Even if they are a good gym, I would NEVER join now on principle. Shame on the people who facilitated this. I feel that people need to know who these people are. This gym is managed by people who play favorites, don't try to resolve issues, and lie CONSTANTLY. I have been complaining about the air conditioning since October of last year. Nothing was ever done because they don't want to waste money. The owner refused to do anything about it so I kept trying to get him to change his tune. He refused as did the manager. In order to make it seem like they would help, they basically lied and said "I'll look into it" which is total BS. Don left me a voicemail asking me to call him back. I missed his call which resulted in him putting my membership on hold for some reason. Definitely doesn't warrant that at all. People have work. A warning would have been nice. I went in at 4AM, my usual time, only for the guy at the front (Mr.Personality) to tell me I wasn't allowed in. He didn't know the reason so I walked in anyway. Gotta do better than that. You can't just put someone's membership on hold because you don't like them. I was playing phone tag with Don all day which was useless because he said he would try to resolve the issue and he didn't. The resolution, for him, was to send me a text stating I was no longer allowed in that gym. So, in a nutshell, making a complaint since October justifies them revoking a membership because they don't want to deal with the issues. I am currently in the midst of getting them to refund my money for this month. If Don ever tells you "contact me directly next time" don't waste your time and don't have high hopes. He also accused me of writing another Yelp review because it "had the same verbiage". I saw the one he was talking about and it was a completely false assumption. If he was an intelligent person, he would realize that my grammar is perfect. This place is an absolute joke!!! Bennie is by far the best trainer I've ever had. He's willing to always make adjustments to the workout to make sure it works best with the client's abilities and avoiding aggravating ailment. Bennie is accommodating while still keeping the exercises fun and challenging! Don Tan is the best gym manager. He always makes things work, and is a reasonable and extremely kind man. He takes great care of the gym and all of its gym members. Big gym but very unprofessional employees. I was treated poorly and told to leave by trainer Angel and another short Asian male in front of many people after being allowed to check in. Why did it allow me to check in? They claim my membership was canceled. Extremely embarrassing. Their system is jacked... They could handle these situations with investigation and a lot more care instead of assumption!! Truly, I hope they fix their dynamic for future instances. So far it has been 3 months back at the UFC gym, and I am very happy I decided to re-join. I returned specifically because I wanted to learn Jiu-Jitsu, and here I not only have the opportunity but I can learn from passionate, talented and knowledgeable instructors. I have had several one on one sessions with Jason Alvarado, not only is he great at breaking moves down, but his training prepared me for the intensity of rolling with everyone in class, he stressed the importance of being humble, and focus on learning, regardless of the outcome. I am thankful I have the opportunity to explore this passion for jiu-jitsu, and I thank Jason for helping me understand how I can get the most out of class.
