Ugly Dog Adventures restored peace and order in our home -- Larry removed so much stress from our day-to-day and we are forever grateful. We reached out to Larry within an hour of coming home from the hospital with our newborn; it was clear then that our beloved, sweet pittie Otis was stressed by the changing dynamic. We'd done some training with him years earlier but hadn't really kept up with it because we didn't feel the need to.. until we had the baby. He was overly interested in the baby to the point where I didn't feel comfortable having them in the same room, even with full supervision. Larry was able to take him in for board and train that week, and when we got him back he was more calm and confident than we thought he was capable of! Larry took the time to follow up and train us to maintain all of his great work. It's been about 2 months since then, and we no longer have anxiety about the baby and Otis being in the same room. I have been using Ugly Dog Adeventures in so many capacities for years. When we first met Jenn when she came to walk our dog everyday while we were on vacation. It went so well,our dog joined her pack. She gets picked up to go on super fun walks for a few hours with all her dog friends. We adopted Rudy, our 4-year-old rescue pup from ICARE back in June. We started him in a group training class at a local pet store right after; although he was one of only 2 dogs in the class, the trainer advised us that private lessons would be the better environment for him. We spent the next few weeks building trust and establishing the basics, but we knew we needed to reinforce Rudy's socialization skills once those initial lessons ended. Fast-forward to October and Rudy was calmly and happily enjoying a one-hour group training class under Jenn and her head trainer Larry! This was after just a month of going on pack walks with Ugly Dog Adventures. The training session was very insightful and so validating of all of the benefits that UDA has to offer. Even more magical than seeing Rudy be able to participate fully in a group class was hearing all of the other owners' experiences with UDA. It was a spontaneous, heartfelt moment, and we all collectively agreed: our dogs could never have co-existed so peacefully and attentively without Jenn and her extraordinary team's help. Rudy is currently in his 3rd month of doing pack walks 2-3 times a week, and it has been the BEST possible decision we could have made for his happiness and well-being. Our vet commended us for how strong and healthy Rudy's joints and muscles are and credits it to his pack walks. She plans to recommend patients to UDA in the future based on Rudy's experiences. :) If you are considering joining the UDA pack, here are a few things you should know: 1. Consultation - all of the dogs in the pack have been personally vetted by Jenn for temperament and socialization, which gave me such peace of mind. I met Jenn at the pack walk pickup time to see their operation in action and for Jenn to assess how Rudy would react to all of the dogs around him. To my amazement, Rudy did not bark once. Jenn took the time to get to know him, advised me on using a figure-8 lead to curb unwanted behaviors, and then brought over one of the board-and-train dogs for a socialization test. Rudy was much better than I would have expected, though he was not yet ready for an up-close introduction. I left feeling so encouraged and excited for Rudy to join the pack. 2. Pack Walks - Jenn pairs the dogs into smaller groups based on their personality. Her approach to training and these walks is based on dog psychology and fostering a natural pack mentality. I love that Rudy gets to walk with dogs of all breeds and sizes in a safe, structured environment where the dog walkers (pack leads) know him by name and take such great care of him. In the beginning, he was very anxious about being separated from me... now, I can hand over his leash, and he goes off enthusiastically, tail wagging, and raring to go off on his adventures. Rudy has become FAR less reactive to other dogs, people, and other stimuli. The exposure and enrichment he gets on these walks are incredible, and it translates to a much calmer, happier dog overall and a calmer, happier experience when we take him on walks, too. I can take him to the park and not worry about him bolting after squirrels, and we've even started taking him out in public! The world is truly opening up for him, and my husband and I are so excited to find new ways to engage and include Rudy outside the house. 3. Community Walks - every so often, Jenn hosts a no-contact Community Pack Walk that allows the owners to get involved. Rudy and I did our first one at Halloween. It was a great chance to reinforce his socialization skills and continue building that trust between us. The community walk also included free professional pet photography opportunities and a goodie bag to cap off a wonderful day. 4. Photography - speaking of photography, I just learned that Jenn has a separate website dedicated to the photos from the pack walks. I love seeing the UDA Instagram posts, so getting to see the full collection of images (including some really lovely ones of Rudy bonding with the pack leads) has been a great way to keep up with his adventures. Jenn has sent me photos and videos on her own to showcase Rudy's progress, which is a wonderful personal touch. On one of his very first pack walks, Jenn sent me a photo of Rudy posing with another dog with only a couple of inches of space between them! Seeing as Rudy found it difficult to tolerate the training pup being a few *feet* from him at the consultation, this was an incredible improvement in a very short amount of time. 5. Slumber Party - Rudy is going to be spending his first night away from us at the end of the month. Seeing how much Rudy has bonded with Jenn, we feel very comfortable boarding him at her home and know that she will look after him as if he were her own. I am so grateful to have found Ugly Dog Adventures and for the transformation I am seeing in my boy. Rudy's personality is emerging more and more every day, and we are closer than ever before. The best place in Horizon City to get your dogs groomed prices are reasonable groomers and owner's are very friendly the only thing I wish they would keep records of the clipper numbers they use on your dogs with a picture or description of what they have done so we don't have to tell them every time we go and it would be nice to be able to request a certain groomer for your dog they all are fantastic the only thing is the more the same person that does our pets the more they remember what they did last time and since one of mine is a puppy I would love to take him to the same groomer every time to make him feel comfortable about getting groomed. read more

We have a new rescue who is a German shepherd/malinois mix who is very friendly but energetic and has poor impulse control. She has some leash and barrier reactivity and frustration and we noticed she improves the longer she gets to be near other dogs. Where to start???? First off, we owe our rescue dog's growth to Jennifer, Hemingway and the Ugly Dog trainers and pack! Coco has been living her best life from June to November with @uglydogadventures ! It's been 6 months since we adopted Coco from @irvineanimals . She has grown so much--physically, emotionally, and socially. :) From a shy quiet scared doggo, to an assertive, social, and playful adventure doggo. :)) In the beginning, Coco was a scared and super reactive doggo. We met up with Jennifer and Coco's soon to be best friend, Hemingway--the calmest and sweetest goodest boy working for Ugly Dog. From her weekly Saturday pack training and monthly community pack walks, Coco graduated to be an official pack member--confident and socialized, and part of the pack!!! This was so important for Coco's transition from the shelter to our home--knowing that she was not isolated, had friends, and a routine! Best of all, Jennifer takes the best photos of the pack, looping us in Coco's progress. She really gets to know the dogs and us, humans. It's truly a personal and well-rounded relationship. I was referred to Jennifer and her pack walks after my stubborn bulldog was deemed basically untrainable by another well-known dog trainer. I was hesitant to reach out, as my dog was crazy, aggressive and reactive with other dogs. I met with Jennifer, and she met my crazy demon dog, and kindly agreed to give him a chance. After just one week doing her pack walks, he was a different dog. After years of working with him with the other trainer, I had never been able to get him to walk on a leash. Suddenly, he was walking calmly with slack in the leash, and not reacting to other dogs. After a couple of more weeks, he was able to join the pack fully, and is now at the point where he calmly walks with a bunch of other dogs together. He no longer goes crazy when he sees another dog, and for the first time we feel safe, taking him out as a family. It has now been a month, and I feel like we have a dog that we can actually enjoy. Thanks to Jennifer and her team, I now have a good boy who can take part in family outings without making it a stressful situation for us. Ugly Dog Adventures (UDA) has done so much for me and my fur babies. My first shepherd was out of control and being a brat to other dogs. I thought she could never be around another dog because of how reactive she was. Once I saw how comfortable my dog was meeting Jennifer (my dog used to hate everyone that got near me) I felt all my worries disappear. Jennifer took her the first day in her own car and at the end of the walk she sent me pictures and videos of my dog Stella actually behaving well with the other dogs and being friendly. I was shocked and relieved she had the potential to be such a good dog. Stella loves going to her pack walks and loves all her dog walkers there. She greets them with kisses and wags her tail as soon as she sees them. When we get to the park she can't wait to get out. Stella got to such a good place we ended up adopting a second German shepherd. Sadie came with reactivity as well but since staring the pack walks I'm able to walk her in the park now without her barking and lunging at every dog that walks by. They also offer training which I sent my Sadie to as well to help get her socialized. They have been so great working with them and I'm glad this company is willing to work with breeds that many are afraid to deal with. I have a yellow Labrador retriever Theo that has been going on pack walks with UglyDogAdventures every week for the last 8 months and it has been one of the best decisions I've made for him. My lab is so much better with leash walking, his reactivity to other dogs decreased, and I know he's having so much fun every time he goes! I chose to enroll my pup into this company over doggy daycare and other companies because I felt there is a lot of value practicing structured walks, socializing, and playing with other dogs all while on a leash.
