Five years ago I was so impressed that when I came back, I had it on my must eat list! I had intended to eat here much earlier during the trip, but the Kona storm had different plans. So it was again the meal right before going to the airport to go home and the gate was closed, but I saw people eating inside so I did what I would not do In DC, which is get out of the car and just ask if it was open. I wouldn't do that In DC because it's just a little scary here. And a nice people called out to Ola the chef and he opened the gate for us!! This time it felt extra special. It was like eating with a dear old friend and come to find out Ola was living in Columbia Heights just before the pandemic. (We are frequenters of Columbia heights!) We really felt spoiled and cared for here. He whipped up an amazing bed of salad for both of us. The greens here in Maui are just so fresh and the flavors are so good and of course we topped it with mahi mahi either grilled or taco style. He also gave us coconut water and a smoothie and fresh papaya which I told him I only eat on the island, which is true because it doesn't taste as good anywhere else that I know. What a way to end a trip with a flood and power outage in the middle of it. When troubles come later at home, which they will, I will think back fondly and give things for the experience we had here. And there was so much food that I was blessed to take the food on the airplane which served as my main meal (bc I can't eat any of the things that is on the plane sadly with my limitations. Delta loves to serve things with lots of cheese or dairy.) When it's not too windy, sitting outside under the tent is a lovely way to enjoy. I hope I can be back in less than five years to enjoy Ola's food at Ula Ula again. I don't know why they don't have more reviews but after we came in, was glad to see more people come in through. I really think so highly a food trucks in general in Maui, but this is definitely a top winner and a true gem!! read more

Such a wonderful spot to meet up with family and friends to have a meal. We were really impressed with the great hospitality shown by the owner. The free range chickens were definitely a conversation starter and were great entertainment. Being met by the gentleman with the parrots was very interesting as an introduction to the farm and cafe. Tried this spot after it was recommended to us by a local! We seemed to just beat the lunch rush (we came around 11:00am) because right after we sat down with our food, an onrush of tourists arrived and the line stretched into the parking lot. We tried the fish tacos, kahlua pork fried rice, and chicken katsu. We also wanted to give the acai a try but made the mistake of not ordering our first time around, and by the time we wanted it, the wait was too long. My favorite was the pork fried rice. It came with a generous protion of meat and egg, which complimented the sweet soy rice very nicely The katsu was also well done, although missed the fresh crunch I was hoping for. I would never before have thought about eating a hot dog with pineapple, onions, and sriracha aoli, but I did... and it wasn't too bad. We had just survived driving the "deadliest highway on Maui" Kahekili Highway (IYKYK), and we needed to stop, catch our breath, and grab a little something to eat. We saw the road signs and stopped here. It's a nice little spot just outside a macadamia nut orchard (where you can take a tour btw), and we settled down with a soda and a hot dog to collect ourselves. Service was very friendly, and they answered all our questions. The dog was a bit overcooked, but the fries were fresh and the toppings were interesting. I wish I would have been a little more hungry so we might have tried something else, but the hot dogs hit the spot before continuing on our way to the airport for our flight out. Picked up lunch yesterday on a weekday. I ordered the grilled Cajun Mahi Mahi and my husband ordered the loco moco. The fish plate was cooked to perfection. Flaky and seasoned well and topped with a mango papaya salsa with micro greens and served with green salad and steamed white rice. My husband's loco moco was delicious. I think I'll be dreaming of this meal for a while. A burger is just that a burger, but this was out of this world. Maybe it was the post hike high, or the fresh pineapple. But man, I cleaned the plate. The burgers and sandwiches are served on taro buns, which I'd never had before. The burger has the freshest slice of pineapple, and a delectable sauce, with perfectly crispy fries. I also got a side of Mac salad because it's a must, and I really enjoyed that as well. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. We stopped here for lunch after hiking the Waihee ridge trail. We had the Cajun Mahi and Pork loco moco, espresso milkshakes and also bought some banana bread and macadamia nuts to take back with us. Everything was great and clear that they take a lot of pride in their farm. Service was top notch, very helpful and hospitable. We joked that we got better service here than the high end hotel we are staying at. There's a covered seating area and it makes the perfect place to stop for a meal.
