Trio bao with cauliflower, tofu and shoyu bao buns
    Jennifer H.

Was craving fries and ended up at Superstars. Oh my goodness, I can't believe I haven't been here sooner. Such a great place for vegetarian and vegan options! Fries were exactly what I was looking for, thick cut, well seasoned and tasty. All of the bao buns were good and in different ways. They are flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower bao was my favorite hands down. I hadn't read the description of the cinnamon bites so I wasn't sure what to expect but they too are delicious. They are made from fried bao dough. Ordered ahead and picked up which was quick and easy. Definitely recommend this Westside food truck.

Found this place popped up on Yelp when i was searching Vegan nearby....I didn't really even read the reviews just figure I'd go by there and see what they have to offer..... Baos and Bowls! Interesting so I thought why not....I got two baos and an order of fries....one cauliflower and one...char siu tofu bao...they were pretty good....and I'm not sure what they did with the fries but they tasted really good!!!!! This is more like a permanent food truck location the owner was really cool and nice...definitely would come by here again my next trip!

YUM!....we were at the Napili Farmers market and were getting a bit peckish and spied Superstars so decided to give it a try. Boy were we glad we did. We chose 3 for $18 - 1. smoky mushroom (pickles, cucumber, chili oil and fried shallots, cilantro), 2. cauliflower (fried ginger cauli, cucumber and aioli), 3. Char sui tofu (with sriracha aioli, pickles and herbs). All were delicious but we really liked the mushroom with a mix of spicy, smoky, crunchy and cool all in one bite, mouthwatering delight :) They are all veggie and there are also drinks, dessert and sides available, such as mango slushy, iced matcha, rice n fries and cinnamon bites. Definitely recommend a visit and we will be back for some smoky mushroom bao....fingerlicking good and moreish.

We love this place! Gluten free options and all vegan! The bao was delicious (not gluten free). The noodles and rice bowls are gluten free. I had the noodles. They were delicious!

We got here for the first time! We were so happy to find this amazing food truck as they are vegetarian friendly shop! We loved the vibe they were providing and the workers (perhaps owners); May and Braden, were very nice and hard workers! We ordered quite few items since we were hungry and it was definitely a bingo experience! Love I personally loved the mushroom ‍ and chashu tofu ones! That chilly oil and fried crispy garlic definitely hit the spot! Eggplant one was also juicy and good as well! If you are around here or far, this place is a must stop place for sure, you won't be disappointed but just love it! They gave us matcha mochi at the end as well, what a great service spirit! Twas chewy and delicious! Both dine in and take out are available! Come visit and enjoy the bao meals! Cheers

This food truck proves that plant-based eating can be exciting and satisfying. The Bao buns are soft and flavorful. Everything is fresh, creative, and made with care. The matcha is the perfect balance of rich and creamy. They also have fun slush flavors as well! Friendly staff, fast service, and delicious food. Thank you!!

First time here. May, chef - owner, was really helpful and patient as we decided what to get. Everything was on point. The flavors are perfectly balanced. We every bao option - eggplant, mushroom, cauliflower, shoyu, tofu, As we ate we kept saying this is the best until we ate the next one. This will now be a go to every time we are here.

Was so worth it! It was on the way to kapalua beach, and every single one was great. We got the tofu, the potato, the soy, and the eggplant. The mushroom was sold out but I'm sure it would be great too. Favorites were the tofu and eggplant!! There's a few tables out by here too.

More than enough for one person../probably a little too much for one person :) The inside has pretty limited seating and there is some outdoor seating, but also limited- so you may want to consider ordering to go. The parking lot is also pretty tight since the entire back row is reserved for employees

Actually was quite pleasantly surprised that we liked the Venezuelan food. The lady at the counter…read morewas friendly and helpful. Lots of plant based options. Beans were well cooked and flavored. So was the rice. The bananas/ plantains added good sweet flavor to the whole meal. The coconut cheese was interesting. Never had that before but it did taste like cheese and added flavor. The jackfruit arepa sandwich that we had, could have had the jackfruit, cheese, plantains mixed together better. The jackfruit bowl was better as it was easier to mix everything and get all the flavors together. Pretty much same as the sandwich but a little more and easier to mix (so would recommend the bowl over the sandwich). The sandwich seemed to be made of rice. We also had a mango and a coconut slushie drink. The mango tasted like the mango concentrate from Costco (sugary) and the coconut was a little more original/ different. We liked both though. Limited indoor seating. Outdoor seating available. Steady flow of patrons. The only thing I didn't like was that the price was a bit high though in my opinion but I guess everything in Maui is that high priced. Update: went back and got a coconut slushie drink again :) and tried the plant based mushroom and cheese (coconut cheese) and fish empanada. They were delicious with the mushroom being our favorite. The chipotle sauces and cilantro onion sauces were delicious as well! The empanadas are not made to order (they are premade so you cannot seperate out the cheese from the mushroom but it does not have a strong flavor). I also liked the coconut slushie by itself vs mixed with mango. Note: The empanadas come in 2: when you eat in house, a red Chipotle sauce and white cilantro onion sauce are given with it (as well as with the arepas); there is another sauce for vegans (think it's a cilantro/ oil/ spice sauce). We liked the white sauce better than the vegan sauce. The empanadas are not made to order (they are premade). If you order to go, you are only given once sauce. If you want more than one, you need to just add it on before you leave with the big dispensers. Otherwise, you only get one sauce (not sure why you can't just add white and red sauce in the same to go container but we weren't given the option). And, to make things worse, the lady said curtly she would charge me next time for 2 sauces "due to the plastic". well, thank you for not charging me but the statement was unnecessary IMHO. Note for improvement (and for this, I was tempted to drop the star rating): we came here multiple times and gave your business a lot of our dollars (about 135.00), yet the above statement, I don't think was necessary if you are trying to provide good customer service. You should gladly offer extra of the sauce or even, as I suggested above, allow customers to add the sauce themselves if they want more than 1 sauce and you don't want us to "use up your plastic containers". Kind of left a bad taste in our mouths.

I stopped by here yesterday for lunch. Sun's Out Buns Out is located in a food truck pod, so I did…read morenot realize exactly where I was going until I saw all of the trucks. The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

One of the better food trucks in the Maui Food Truck court…read more Bao Bun Sandwiches is definitely my jam so I was happy to try this place out. We came here twice and I got the 3 bao slider combo each time. - The BAO*CHICKA*BAO*BAO was one of my favorite sandwiches. - My second favorite was the ISLAND PIGGY. I got this both times. - the LITTLE PIGGY was good, but a little overhyped in my opinion. But good to try. - the DUCK DUCK GOAT was wildly disappointing. As you can see in the picture, all meat and almost nothing else. Maybe a few silvers of cabbage. But where's the goat cheese and the fig jam?!? We also got the ALOHA TOTS. Huge portion so that was nice. But the kalua pork was pretty watery and made the crispy tots go soggy pretty fast. Overall a solid spot. Definitely worth trying at least once.
