    Garlic shrimp plate
    Dawn C.

This is an post on a visit from awhile ago. My husband found a post about the best shrimp plates in Maui, which were located at the Plate Lunch Marketplace. We went on a weekday and many vendors weren't open. We did find comfortable picnic tables which were covered and clean. Since there are a round up of different vendors your service experience many vary. We got garlic shrimp and spicy shrimp plates. Our meal was unforgettable and next trip to Maui, we will return here. Most certainly everybody's used to this, but there were just chickens all over the place, baby chickens, adult chickens, and I was charmed.

We went an hour before they closed and sadly Gestes Shrimp ran out of sausages. We ended up getting just the hawaiian scampi shrimp plate. The shrimp was really good but took time to take off the skin and tail. Some of the shrimps weren't deveined but it still tasted good due to the sauce. Our second plate was from Plantation Plate and we got the hamburger steak. Meat was tender and macaroni salad was really good. The portions were really large and there were plenty of seating under a tent. The wait can be quite long even if they don't seem busy. We got our food probably after 15-20 minutes of waiting.

Food and service were incredibly amazing at this local gem. Dino's gourmet burger truck is the best burger joint in America, don't @ me bro. No seriously, it was rated the best burger in the country as seen in Time and Money articles online. Dino is the man. He is so nice and his big blue burger will change your life. Tell him Alex from California sent you.

Loco Moco and Hawaiian shrimp scampi... both were quite tasty!

If you want relatively inexpensive local comfort food, this spot allows you to do that. Everyone in your party can also pick out a variety of options as well. Some vendors only take cash, some take cash and card. There's another food truck spot a few driveways down, that one looked to have several options including dessert options too (shaved ice, etc.) will have to check it out next trip - we just drove by it. Oh, there is plenty of parking (free parking!) and a nice covered area to sit and enjoy your food! The one down the street didn't look to have as much shaded seating, but I did see some. It's very close to the airport, so you can grab your last bites of aloha before leaving Maui!

We made the mistake of coming here with full belly's, would have loved to try one of the food trucks but instead we grabbed a seat and enjoyed the live music! The band on 3/23/23 was AMAZING!!!! The view did not disappoint either!

Thank you, Plate Lunch Marketplace, for giving us so many high quality options for dining. Love the big, covered rows of picnic tables to comfortably enjoy our entrees. We'll be back soon for lunch!

Wow, who knew that this place had a name? While this place is far from being a refined spot like (the now closed) Wynwood Yard in Miami https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-wynwood-yard-miami?osq=Wynwood+yard , its downhome vibe matches the slow pace of Maui. ATMOSPHERE: Don't be on the lookout for a permanent structure because you'll be sorely disappointed, LOL. Located "across from Costco", meaning across of the store's main entrance on Haleakala Highway, it's a fenced-in, gravel lot with a cluster of food trucks on the north end and tons of parking on the south side. A few communal picnic tables are surrounded by the food trucks which aid in blocking the gusty tradewinds, with homeless camp-like tarps providing shade. It's not pretty but it works. Regardless of the gravel floor, the place can be very dusty, especially from people that drag their feet when they walk. And, if you have alektorophobia, I'd avoid this place as quite a few of the feral variety also call this place home. FOOD TRUCKS: Iine Ramen - Unfortunately these guys are closed indefinitely until they find a buyer. While the ramen was good, eating it outdoors under a hot tarp with winds cooling the piping hot broth was such a bummer. They belong in a brick & mortar spot! Kalei's Lunch Box - Local plate lunches shine here. I've been here only once a few years ago and had an okay-tasting roast pork. But, the food looks better nowadays so another try will be done soon. Like Pokē- Fried pokē bowls. They were featured on Diners, Drive In's and Dives, I believe, but I have yet to try them. Maui 8 Wonder - Mexican, never tried. Ono Teppanyaki & Seafood - Same owners as Thai Mee Up. Never tried as their hours of operation were sporadic but that could've changed. Thai Mee Up - Good pad thai (get both chicken and shrimp as toppings) and a really good lemongrass fried chicken. OVERALL: 3.5 stars. 4 stars for the food trucks, 3 stars for the facilities. I responded to the recent Yelp email survey and suggested that 1/2 star ratings should be available.

Right across from Costco, land, get rental car, go shopping at Costco and everyone can pick their fancy. Somehow the food wasn't as good as the stand alone trucks I have had on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Big Island. Smorgasbord of food trucks to choose from. But the reality of the food was less than the expectation mostly 3.5 star level.

As soon as you get off the plane there's a food truck spot right around the corner with about 12-15 food trucks with flavors all over the island. A must stop if your hungry and don't want to have airport food.

The Plate Lunch Marketplace is a food truck lot located across of the Costco gas station. Yes folks, the place has an actual name! The name may also ring a bell for anyone that is familiar with the surf brand Da Kine which has familial ties to this very lot. They even have a food truck here. True to the brand and name, "The Plate Lunch x Dakine Collection is a celebration of Aloha, with mac salad and two scoops of rice on the side." It took me a while to connect all the dots, but I love it! I dig it. I come here all the time and have tried *almost* every single food truck. They have burgers, ramen, thai, teppanyaki, poke, açaí bowls, & local kine grindz. They pretty much have all your bases covered for whatever you're in the mood for which is what I love about this place. Currently Kalei's Lunchbox is monopolizing all my money. They're just THAT good. No joke. They even have me eating vegetables willfully in the form of their hurricane brussel sprouts. Another favorite is Thai Mee Up and their fried pork ribs. Yum! The same owners/chef opened up the newest addition to the lot right next door called Ono Teppanyaki and Seafood which is next on my to do list. This is probably one of the most popular food truck lots which is no surprise given it's proximity to the airport and Costco which is often a madhouse on any given day. The parking lot is spacious and the covered eating area filled with picnic tables makes it quick and easy to grab a meal. The best part is most of the trucks open late on a regular basis, but do check their individual social media pages for exact times as they vary. I highly recommend a stop here whether you're fresh off the plane, on your way out, or a local! It's a solid, consistent spot for good eats!

This is a great food truck area across from the costco gas station. There are 8 or so food trucks so lots of choices. There is a large covered eating area with picnic tables, someone cleans the tables after people leave and the area is very well taken care of. Not sure about bathroom situation saw some porta John's but didn't see anyone using them so not sure if they are open. Lots of parking on both sides of the area.

Great place to come for a wide selection of food trucks but the best part was the live music!

I've been a loyal customer for years and enjoyed (several times I must add) the upstairs dining experience in their Lei's Family Act Restaurant with a delicious pre fixe menu served by students on Wednesdays and Fridays! They rotate the specific cuisine from Italian to French to American. A must try if they have Open Table openings! The food court is usually open between 11-1 pm on Monday-Friday (this may change due to holidays/student schedules) and if you sign up for their emails, you'll be able to see the Specials of the week. I decided to try a Full Plate today with One Portion entree, 2 scoops of Hapa Rice, and a choice of side. The Chinese Steamed Mahi was delicious with 2 pieces cooked with slices of ginger, lup cheong pieces and some cilantro on top for garnish. The potato side salad I chose was delicious and the small container of Kimchee was perfectly seasoned. Not too spicy, just the way I like it. If I could've asked for more sauce on my Mahi and rice, that would've been my only critique. They offer 2 Half portion entrees and also a Mini Plate too. Not to mention, to go sandwiches, salads, fruits, musubi's (today was chicken, hot dog and spam musubi's for $4 each near the register) and a fridge full of drinks and fountain drinks. Grab your food then head to the register to pay. I got my lunch to go so they add $1 extra for to go container. Not bad for $15-16 considering we live in expensive Hawaii lol. The dining area is spacious and roomy if you decide to dine in.
