Frankly this hot dog stand is a good spot to get a good dog. 3 1/2 Stars because You'll get Great Service with an average but good tasting hot dog. Bonus is that if you like onions, you're in MAUI! Home of da BEST ONIONS in da Pacific and as far as my tastes, da BEST in da USA! Would love give another star but the bun and the condiments need to be elevated CHICAGO STYLE to reach that coveted four-five Star level. All in all better than Burger King option at the Airport. Frankly a darn good dog for those of you like me with a hunger on the go!

Looks like a Food Truck in the middle of the airport! This little snack bar is located inside of the Maui Airport. It's actually in the open air section between Gates - not at a Gate - so there's no air conditioning. Just walk up to the window, place your order, and go around to the front of the truck for condiments. Instead of a plain hot dog, I got the Maui Dog (beef hotdog). For 10 cents more, the Maui Dog has a fresh, sweet Maui Onion topping - yum! The slight crisp gives a plain hot dog some character without a bite! The bun was nice and soft as if it had been steamed a bit. (The other hot dog choices were beef, Polish, or Portuguese sausage.) If you have time and need a quick snack, you may want a hot dog. Remember that it's "gourmet" and that's why the starting price is $5.79... Mahalo to aunty for the service with a smile!

Saimin and hotdog with Maui onions. Around $15 total with tax.

This place is after TSA--so if you have a layover at OGG, you don't have to exit security to go here. It's near Gate 18. This place is definitely on the fast food side, but it's fun to have saimin ($7) at the airport instead of Burger King.

    Plate Lunch

In the airport past security, all I wanted one last taste of the island, but all that surrounded me was fro-yo and Burger King. Because of Sarah Vowell's book on Hawaii, I'd been wanting sentimentally to get me some plate lunch, but mostly we snacked and ate in, or didn't get out and about until after lunch. Thanks to Frankly Gourmet I finally got the plate lunch I'd been wanting all my trip long. Tucked awkwardly around the corner there it lies, a weird food cart inside the terminal. Plate lunch special was breaded chicken with gravy, plus a scoop of macaroni salad and a scoop of sticky white rice. It stuck to my ribs through a 12-hour commute, and it was just what I needed. Frankly Gourmet (which, let's be completely honest, is more Vaguely Gourmet, but no bother) was the only place in the airport that made me feel like I was still in Hawaii, when I really wasn't ready to leave. So for that: Mahalo!

Three hot dogs, two drinks, at $9 per person for three of us. Definitely not worth the price. Food was okay, the hot dogs barely warm... the only creative thing about my Hale Dog was the addition of diced pineapple, which tasted fine with the mustard and dog. Just not something I would order again. Sorry.

This place is pretty standard for an airport. High prices, ok quality. We got 2 hotdogs, one Maui union and one Hana hula dog. The onion one has tons of onion and the pineapple one had a good amount of pineapple. Overall I would give this place 3.5 stars. Not the best dogs ever but good enough for my 3 hr flight delay thanks to hawaiian air. Hit the spot and I don't feel sick yet. If I do when I land I will update this review. Aloha.

Special of the day: meatballs with gravy, mac potato salad and rice for $9.99

This take-out food establishment is located next to Gates 17+ You cannot miss it--its a big blue food truck, smack dab flushed to the side of the entrance of the inter-island terminal. I've eaten here a few times...I don't know why, since its ridiculously expensive (i.e. basic standard-sized hotdog with basic garnishes) is upwards of $4.xx. They do have a variety of hot dogs though that offer island fruit relishes and the like, which is more expensive (I think the most expensive dog I saw on the menu was $7-9) They do have plate lunch specials @ $9.99, which is probably the best bang for your buck. Some other local favorites they have are saimin bowls (ramen) and nachos. Some pre-made sandwiches, salads, yogurt and fruits fill a cold case to the left, and to the right holds drinks (i.e. Honest tea is $5.xx! You have been warned!) Atop the counter they also have small snacks, such as cookies, peanuts and chips. I'm not sure if they take plastic, but cash is always good. The workers are pretty friendly and there are some tables/stools for seating.

Chose to get a basic hot dog because I love slathering my dog in mustard and relish. It's a quick bite to grab while you're waiting for your flight but it wasn't anything extraordinary for $5.51. It's airport prices and what's to be expected which isn't much. Next time I'll probably try one of their fancy dogs to see if it's worth going out of my childhood comfort zone.

Frankly Gourmet, the "food truck" inside the terminal

Decent enough middle of the road food for airport dash and board. Right around the corner from Sammy's and built to look like a food truck inside the terminal, the menu features some Hawaiian style hot dogs, sandwiches and saimin bowls. Overall nothing over exciting but good enough to fill your stomach for the ride back to the mainland...

No more onions, pineapple or soup. Just plain hot dog or chili dog. Nothing special.

Bad, mushy hot dogs. No snap. A little like low quality Bologna. Skip this one. Opt for purchased snacks on flight.

You'll find a gorgeous array of fresh, organic, mostly Maui-grown fruits and vegetables, packs of cut fruit, baked goods made in-house, a juice bar/deli (very popular at lunch time; order ahead if pressed for time!), and all the canned, frozen, refrigerated, and packaged items you expect in a natural food store. There's also a great bulk section, where you can dispense your desired amount of various nuts, grains, snack mixes, coffee beans, etc. The supplement section is well stocked and features a good selection of protein powders. Greeting cards, small gifts, T shirts, and personal care/beauty items are available as well. A small seating area outside the entrance is convenient but could benefit from some umbrellas or canopies to provide shade on hot sunny days.

There's nothing special about the deli food anymore. Most of it looks the same, trays of mushy food that are either dried out or they're out of half the items. I went in for soup today and all three soup containers were practically empty and burnt at the bottom. Most of the deli food looked dry and like it had been sitting there way too long. I went upstairs to eat and the dining area was really dirty too. I'm not sure if there's new management or what, but this place definitely needs a serious boost, and fast.

Oh wow! This went way above my expectations!…read more When my trip to Maui was first booked, I researched a lot of food/desserts to try and spots to go to. I saw a lot of hype about this shaved ice, but I was like "it just looks a snowcone an I've had plenty of those" so I kinda blew it off like "oh I'll try it if we just happen to stumble upon a place" but I didn't write it down as a "must try" We went on a hike at the Pipiwai trail one morning and drove the whole rode to Hana. I was pretty bummed that we didn't get to the banana bread place before they closed, but on our way back to Waleia, I was looking up some spots to get a snack. This place popped up and I remembered it from my research so I figured we'd just go. It was on the way. We got ube, green tea, and lychee with a snow cap and mochi. Omg! It was wayyyyyyyy better than just a regular ole snowcone. It's so much creamier and the additional texture of mochi made it even better. Idk if it was because we just got back from hiking but it was so refreshing! I deffinitly recommend The only downfall of the location is that there was only one table and it was full when we were there so we had to walk down a bit to find another bench to sit at.
