Cousin took me "up country" chill and to check out the views while enjoying a food truck meal.... We bought some Adobo and Garlic Shrimp from this location. It was actually tasty, flavorful and yummy and sharable too. Thank you!

They've been a mainstaple in the Maui community for a long time - I first remember trying them at the Kula Country Farms almost a decade ago, and I catch them weekly at the Maui Sunday Market - their plate lunches are extremely jam-packed with local flavors and a must for those wanting to try some of Maui's local cuisine - Miguel Morales Photography

So happy to see this truck at the MADE IN MAUI County Festival. They had the longest line to get food... because we all know their food is delicious! Always freshly cooked, so we have to wait while they cook. So worth the wait! The steak is so tender and juicy and the chicken flavor is so onolicious! Mahalo AL for being here... and see you on KIHEI 4TH FRIDAY!

Best food i had on Maui. The ribs fell right off the bone. The mochi brownies were phenomenal! I cannot describe the texture but it was unreal. I wish i was going back to that part of the island just so i could have it again!

Some of the absolute best bbq that I've had on the island. I came while looking for a good place to eat since living in pukalani. I didnt see ribs in the pics online so I was pleasantly surprised when I came to the truck and they had ribs. I order ribs with garlic noodles. My friend ordered the chicken and steak combo with rice. We both loved our food. The meat with tender but still had a good flavor from the grill. My ribs were falling off the bone. Highly recommended and I will definitely be back.

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife. We were at the upcountry farmers market and happened to see a food truck cluster. So after looking around the farmers market we headed on over for some lunch. After perusing all of the menus, we ultimately decided on Al's BBQ Pit. Since it's a food truck, there's not too much to say about it other than it had photos of many of the food items on the side of the truck and there were two windows, 1 for ordering and 1 for pickup. On this day my wife and I decided to go big and split it and so we went with the big Al combo. It was maybe a 5-10 minute wait from ordering until we had our food. The big Al's combo was some teriyaki chicken, 3 shrimp and some steak, all on a giant bed of Adobe rice. If it sounds like a lot of food, you would be correct and it was heavy too! Once we got back to our place, my wife and I dug in. It ended up being quite good! The chicken was moist and had a nice flavor to it while the shrimp were nice and sweet. The steak was cooked to a nice medium and had a great grill flavor to it. Finally the Adobe rice was awesome with pieces of pork in it and peppercorns which gave a nice little spice when bitten. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed everything that we got and the big Als combo was a ton of food!

I was at the Makawao Third Friday event and decided to finally try out Al's BBQ Pit. There wasn't too much of a line and after quickly perusing their small menu, I went with the marinated steak & garlic shrimp combo. Wasn't sure what the steak was marinated in, but why not? I love steak. After ordering, they give you a ticket with your number on it. Big sign says "No stub, no food!" Alrighty then. Remember to keep your ticket stub to pick-up your order, folks. Otherwise, you'll be SOL. Got my food within maybe 10 minutes or so, not too long of a wait at all which was awesome since I was really hungry! I dug into my garlic shrimp and the garlic needed to be cooked more. No one really likes the taste of raw garlic.. at least not me. The shrimp itself tasted like it was cooked beforehand as well and not fresh. Overall, just ok. The steak was marinated in teriyaki sauce which I wasn't really expecting. While the teriyaki flavor was not too bad, most of the meat was not cut against the grain making it very chewy and harder to break up the muscle fibers.. Had they cut against the grain, it would've been much more tender and easier to chew. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about teriyaki beef with such a thick cut of meat. Not my thing. Overall, it was just ok for me. I didn't see any specials that night, but their standard menu doesn't have anything really unique. I don't think I'll be in a hurry to try them again since they offer the standard plate lunches that you could find at other food establishments.

If you want to get full off of a one plate meal, this place is it. Flavorful. Tender. Cooked to perfection. Fried Rice? Cmon. I got a combo with shrimp, chicken, and steak. This is it. I could feed my entire family with this plate. It's that good. Only bad thing if you order here, you're not gonna have room to eat anything else in the food truck park.

Al's BBQ Pit has a menu that made my dinner decision really difficult. Everything looks so ono. I decided to try the Adobo Fried Rice with Chicken and it was great! The fried rice was tasty & plentiful and the chicken was perfectly prepared with a dash of Al's barbeque sauce. I could have gone for a little more sauce, but I was more than satisfied. One of the benefits of food truck cuisine is taking it to Heritage Park and enjoying a well made meal in a picturesque setting. I'll be back to try more of Al's cooking.

Best consistent bbq on Maui. Ribs & shrimp are favorites, but all equally good. $1 Mac salad scoops are also best on Maui.

The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

We visited last May, so some of the items were seasonal, which just makes it even more exciting to go back and see what's new. Great service, great vibes, and really creative food. If you see this truck, do not skip it.

Well no bad guys ever showed up, and the hucksterism was pretty low key. The excitement was not to be had either but it was obvious that these trucks are feeding a lot of people. If they were only able to lower their prices even a little they could be feeding even more but I guess their overhead is probably pretty high even for a parked truck. Anyway I was expecting a bit lower price scale, but it is what it is. So .. For fifteen bucks plus tax and tips I got the seared salmon. The fish was nicely cooked, I enjoyed it. The vegetables were pretty meh but did help bring more of the sauce to the palate. Yes, the sauce was good, right on the verge of too much soy, but they did a good job keeping it balanced. The salmon portion size was small, but not insultingly tiny. Could have been a bit larger for the $15, the value is not there only if you compare to what you make at home, otherwise it's probably disappointedly normal. When you get your six inch diameter bowl you will see what I mean. The heap of rice made for good entertainment feeding the chickens. You're discouraged from feeding them so I just sat the bowl down behind the coffee guys trailer and watched them pig out. It is not exactly "Fast" food here, they are actually cooking the meal while you wait. I had my order in 12 minutes though, exactly how long she said it would take.

There are also different businesses in the buildings, like a spa and a salon. There are different small vendors with their booths and several food trucks; although, some were not open in the morning and the Thai food truck had all their items sold out on their menu already. The prices were even more pricier than the food trucks at Maui Food Trucks. One vendor had hand crafted desserts for $20/piece! I admired from afar, haha. Everything is advertised as "farm to table" maybe justifying their prices. We shared an acai bowl and it was mid. The the peanut butter was just scraped on the side of the bowl. Our typical acai bowls at least put the peanut/almond butter in the middle like any other topping so you can get an even bite with everything. But the dallop of peanut butter just on the side, it was like we ordered peanut butter on the side of our acai bowl. It was weird. I bet it's more alive at night with more food trucks open and live music. We came and saw and didn't come back.
