i was racially profiled and an associate accused me of stealing, after she had followed me around the store literally the entire time i was there. i thought the employee was just overly nice or wanted to urge us paying customers out since it was near closing time. unfortunately i was wrong. i came into ulta to exchange something that i had bought in the wrong color, while i was there i was browsing at a couple other products and didn't think much of it. after i had already exchanged my product and even bought more stuff, the girl who i had my transaction with asked me "where those lipsticks were" that i was looking at, and without hesitation i replied with, "i put them back because i didn't want them", because i thought she was trying to make conversation with me. i didn't realize she wasn't until she asked me if i wanted "to walk her to them", when i replaced with "not really" because i was a little confused, she told me to take them out of my bag. i didn't have anything in my bag(s) to worry about so i emptied all of my bags on the counter. when nothing was "found" i didn't even get an apology for being racially profiled and accused of stealing. to me, it's super disheartening to be a loyal customer to a business and to spend thousands of dollars on products a year only to get accused of stealing because of the color of my skin and who i am as a person. i will no longer shop at ulta due to intolerance and racism. read more

I went into Ulta @ Factoria Mall on a Friday evening to return something I had bought twice! The sales associates were so friendly to the person ahead of me in line at the register, but when I said I had a return they barely spoke a word to me. In fact the blonde middle age lady(manager) kept forcing me to not return, even though the item was unopened and sealed. This is my second interaction with the sales associates in this store and I can definitely say I won't be going into that store again just to avoid the rudeness. This review is mostly for the Benefit Brow Bar, as I typically only come into ULTA to get my eyebrows waxed. They do a fantastic job, every time, and I usually can just walk in and get going without an appointment. I've never had any problems of uneven brows or the wax being too hot, always a good experience and the girls who do the waxing are always very friendly and chatty during the services. $21 for a brow wax. Very easy to find as it is attached to the Factoria Square strip mall, between Old Navy and Old Country Buffet. Two entrances, one outside on the street and one inside of the mall. Huge parking lot, so no need to stress about finding a spot. This is a very large store, as are all ULTA Beauty stores. Very well lit, and well stocked. It is easy to find what you are looking for as everything is separated into makeup and hair and whatnot. There is also a salon in the back of the store. Sometimes the employees will help you out and chat with you, other times they get a bit wrapped up in their own non-work related conversations. I have only bought one thing here, as it was the only place the product was sold at the time (Ari by Ariana Grande perfume - buy it, it is AMAZING). There is always someone at the register to pay, and they are typically pretty friendly and sincere. They have a rewards program, but I honestly don't know anything about it other than I have a card. They also have coupons that come out sometimes for like 20% off your first salon visit or $3 off a $10 purchase. read more

I have done a lot of adventurous things with my hair. Disconnects, color, space bobs, pixie to barbie lengths- I've got a serious case of hair ADD. One night, I decided that I'd color my hair red with the Voldemort of hair dyes (WE DO NOT SPEAK ITS NAME). Colette might be a vampire, because I'm unsure how one lifetime would suffice for her to have developed the level of skill she has with color correction. She helped me make a plan, and helped me through the process (literally and figuratively) of restoring my hair back to my plain old mousey ash (the way I had come to like it!). She was realistic, explaining what was possible and what wasn't, and helped me reach my goal with professionalism. She even sent me home with products to help me maintain the color between steps. Just discovered Ulta and must say I am very surprised at the wide selection. Both drug store brands and high end brands. Very helpful, friendly staff. Great return policy. Help!! I visited this location and got the most amazing brow wax from Kaitlyn (Caitlyn? Caitlin? I'm not sure how she spells her name). I went back a few more times and loved the service more and more each time I went. The last time I tried to go back to see her, I found out that she no longer works there. I never got her business card, so I have no way of figuring out where she works now. I tried asking the front desk and they wouldn't tell me, so now I'm desperately trying to find out where she works now! So I have been going to this Ulta since it opened. I love going to the Salon. I love Melinda, she is fantastic with color. Maggie and Chris are amazing with cuts. Chelsea the manager has always had excellent customer service. BUT lately, I swear I can never get into the Salon. If I book an online appointment, they call me to cancel it or move to another day that they have available but I don't. One time I was trying to make an appointment online and was having issues, so I just drove up there, at the time the computer said it was available, for them to tell me they weren't accepting appointments. I was super confused cause the computer showed availability but they are saying no dice. While the staff is amazing it's hard to get in. I am so torn, because they are good at what they do, buuut the scheduling is wonky. read more

I went to this place for a haircut the first time. I want my hair short and have a picture with me. when I came back to home my boyfriend said it is too short doesn't execute the picture well. I quite disappointed. I have good amount of hair to cut but she didn't layer it very well . I even paid 75$ for my haircut. Price doesn't matter if the result turn out great but it doesn't. I made the mistake today of making a brow appointment with someone who was NOT Sara (Sara, by the way, is FABULOUS) - Sara was out today and I was desperate to get my brows done before heading out on a work trip tomorrow. I showed up 15min early, and she had someone in her chair, so I left and came back 15 min later, and she had yet another person in her chair who she had obviously just started working on. She told me she was running late (wth? I had only called an hour earlier to make the appointment and no mention of being behind when I spoke with her???). She said she'd be another 15 'min - so much for having an appointment. I said I had to go - I had other errands to run - and no apologies. Horrible customer service. Learned my lesson and will not settle for anyone other than Sara in future. My friend and I entered the store 20 seconds ago and walked down the isle. An employee with bright green hair comes up, I already noticed something was off because she did not seem welcoming or about to ask us "if we need help finding something" like usual. She seemed rude and looked at us judgingly. She hands us a bag, telling us that we can put the item my friend was holding (a set of fake nails, $4) and "whatever is under my sweatshirt" into the bag. She tells us if we want to make a purchase, that the counters are over there, in a tone which sounds as though she is about to push us to the counters ourselves. My "sweatshirt" is a crop top, it was impossible to hide anything under. I had no pockets, it was not baggy. There was nothing. When I heard her, I was confused and thought I misheard her, but I noticed the way she kept observing us, scanning and staring us down. I started to grow wary, I have never been accused of anything, let alone shop-lifting and I had no idea to react. My heart just started to race, but I stayed calm and tried to explain/ask what she meant. I asked her if we were being sketchy because I had no idea why she would assume I had taken anything. She said, "my manager warned me that you hid something under your sweatshirt". I told her there was nothing under it and lifted it slightly. I was already self-conscious, and I assume they thought I slipped something underneath it when I was pulling it down when we entered the store. I was trying not to show my stomach and be polite to people around me, instead I got accused of an act I would never dream of doing. She didn't give us the benefit of the doubt or even check to see. She came over to us and would hold her ground, even after lifting the hem of my top, she would not stop persistingly telling me to remove whatever was under it. I asked her if she wanted me to lift it fully and she said: "all I want is honesty". I keep telling her there is nothing underneath it. My friend offered to let the employee check her bag but she kept her gaze on me. As though she was pressuring me to admit to a crime I didn't commit. She slowly walked away and kept looking back. We left the bag, horrified and violated and quickly left the store. My friend and I have been going to this ultra store for a couple of years and every time it was fine, we were greeted by kind and helpful employees. I have never felt so mistreated nor accused or judged. After this incident, I felt horrible due to the way I was treated. My privacy was invaded and again, I have never felt so distressed in public. I cannot stress this enough, if you don't want to risk feeling completely violated, do not come to this Ulta. The manager and employees under her should not be in their positions. After this experience, my friend and I will never be shopping at this Ulta or any Ulta afterward. We will support businesses who do not accuse their loyal customers. I know this has happened to many customers and I hope it doesn't happen to you, I have never felt so revolted. read more

I just felt like it was unnecessary so I didn't go through with that. I rarely ever stop by Ulta stores unless necessary and can't be done online. I went in for a quick return 10 minutes before closing. (Sorry but then, it's really just a small return.) It was quick and on my way heading out, I noticed a poster board on some deals going on that month. There was still about 7 minutes till closing and I wasn't really doing anything but stand there and read. A minute later, the security guard standing upfront looked at me and said "bye". Really? My friend and I are high school students at Newport High School which is close to the Ulta at Factoria. We have been going to the same Ulta for years due to the close proximity of our school to the store and have been loving the products and customer service by helpful and friendly sales associates until only recently. We had visited Ulta to shop for makeup brushes when we were suddenly and rudely confronted by an Ulta employee with dyed, neon yellow-green hair who offered us a shopping bag. Because I only had one item and my friend had none yet, we kindly refused the bag. To this, she insisted we take the bag to put the product I had in my hands and another that my friend supposedly had underneath her cropped sweatshirt. (She had nothing and the "product" she was holding was her phone.) When my friend asked if we seemed like we were acting "sketchy", she replied her manager had given her a warning about our "suspicious behavior in the store" when we had only been there for about thirty seconds at this point. My friend proceeded to lift up the hem of her already short sweatshirt while I offered to allow her to search my bag, yet she continued to insist in a condescending manner all she wanted was "honesty from us." We ended up leaving feeling truly appalled being suspected of stealing and can assure you, we won't be shopping again at Ulta again anytime soon. As someone with parents who are owners of both stores and businesses, I can understand how damaging shoplifters can be to a business but the way we were confronted and treated was incredibly rude. After this incident I can guarantee you we will both never shop at Ulta at Factoria again. I don't know where I will be shopping for makeup products now that I know Ulta is no longer can option but I know most definitely wherever I go next, I will not be treated in such a patronizing and disrespectful manner. read more

Had my hair done by Stacia today. She was great, and all the staff were accommodating and wanted to make sure I had the best experience. My makeup got a bit smudged while getting my hair colored and stacia made sure that it got touched back up. She also took the time to make sure that it looked good and was the color I liked. I'm a big fan of when stylists talk to you about life instead of treating you like a paycheck, and she genuinely cared about my experience. Kudos. read more

Worst experience. Unproffesional, stereotypical, and rude staff. I had asked for help and after getting help I was surveillanced by two staff members. Then they continued to ask every other 5 minutes if I needed anything else, making me feel very uncomfortable. Then I decided to put the items I was going to buy away where they didn't belong. Then I told one of them I couldn't afford it to see what her reaction would be. Then she pretended to show me an item close to where one of the items I was going to buy. And when I was about to leave she continues to ask where I put the item I was no longer going to buy because it was missing. And when I told her she practically ran to see if i was telling the truth. Who does that?! Then called the manager to complain and the fact that she didn't even ask what employees they were I knew she was going to do anything about it. I must say I had a very good experience with Hannah from ULTA Factoria Mall. I went for a haircut followed by partial highlights. Initially the color didn't develop in my dark hair. Hence, she told me to come back after 5days. She made sure the color is properly developed in my 2nd appointment. She is amazing with customers, very patient and a perfectionist. After the product consultant applied Lancôme stick foundation on my face, I picked up the product and it indicated an expiration of date of July 2018. I mentioned this to him and his reply was as he was handing me a brand new product, "well the one you're buying is not expired". Totally went over his head instead of apologizing for applying an expired product on my face. I did not think to inspect the brand new unopened stick foundation for expiration date when he handed it to me. Why would I think he'd sell me an expired product? So I just got home and the box says it expired October 2018! UNBELIEVABLE! Beware. Make sure to check your products expiration date before leaving the store. read more

I love the salon there!!!! ---I always go into ulta for everything. I talked to a hair stylist there. I told her my hair was a hack job and I hated it. I let a friend do it and I was ashamed to let my hair down. She took me in her chair right away. She kept saying "honey, I'm so sorry she did this. I'll fix it for you." I have really bad acne, and recently decided to start getting facials to see if they would help. I've gotten haircuts before at Ulta and was really happy with the results, so I decided to give their Dermalogica Skin Care Bar a try, which offers a variety of facials that use products from the skin care brand Dermalogica. I first sat down with Tiffany, their esthetician, who asked me about my skin concerns, what products I used, how I reacted to ingredients, and what had and hadn't worked for me in the past skin-care wise. I loved how she spent the time to actually get a snapshot of my skin rather than just shoving a bunch of products in my face. Based on my answers she recommended the MediBac facial, which is designed to help clear adult acne. I had the option of getting the facial the same day, or to book an appointment for a later time. I opted for the same day. The facial began with Tiffany cleansing my skin and then applying different masques, as well as exfoliating it. As she applied each product she told me what was in it as well what it would do for my skin, which I really liked; I hate not knowing what's in a product, so I really appreciated the information that she was imparting. She also made sure that I was comfortable throughout facial; she always asked how my skin felt when she applied a product to make sure that I wasn't uncomfortable. She was also just really friendly, and we chatted throughout most of the treatment. I know that some people don't like to talk when they're getting a treatment at the salon, but I do, so her friendliness was a big plus for me! She ended the facial by applying a moisturizer and sunscreen, and then recommended some products that I could use at home to help with my acne. The products that she recommended were from Dermalogica, which is a pretty expensive brand, but Tiffany was really understanding in regards to my budget. She showed me the Mario Badescu line, which while still a little pricey, is defiantly more affordable than Dermalogica. I bought the drying lotion from Mario Badescu, which is a spot treatment, and CeraVe sunscreen (Tiffany said that using sunscreen would help with scarring, which it did!). In short, I had a great facial experience at Ulta, and Tiffany's skin care advice has definitely helped improve my skin. I've come back for three more facials since then, and if my budget allows it, I hope to go for many more! read more

This review is for Kimberly at the hair salon. I had a pretty good experience with her dying my hair. I have Asian dark brown hair, and I was aiming for an ashy brown. (Which I know is quite hard as Asian hair tends to have red-orange tones) When I sat down, she was very friendly and professional. I showed her what I had in mind, an ombre that went from dark brown to an ash medium light brown, and she agreed to it with no objection. This is one reason why I was quite happy about the service. Usually when I sit down and tell stylists that I want a shade that is lighter than my hair color, they act like its this HUGE ordeal and that it's a ENDLESS process (which it kind of is of course, but no need to make it sound so terrible) and that I will probably have to come back for many other appointments and spend a lot more extra money. Kimberly got right to the point of what needed to be done and began right away. I really liked that because I was tired of hearing stylists telling me all the obstacles and problems they would need to face to get my hair a certain color. During the hair dying, she seemed like she knew what she was doing. (I'm not a hair stylist so I can't tell). It was around a three hour process I think, but the end result was exactly what I expected (in addition, there were barely any red or orange tints!). In retrospect I wish I had chose a hair color a bit more silvery grey as I had wanted in the beginning. But halfway through the process I changed my mind, and I wish I hadn't, but that was my fault. :) Overall, Kimberly is a very professional, skilled, and friendly. I would strongly recommend her to anyone who is looking for an affordable/ reasonably priced hair stylist! (PS. Another thing I really liked was that Kimberly was ON TIME. I hate people who are late and who keep others waiting. In previous hair salon experiences, I have had stylists be late or who keep me waiting just so they can chat with their friends. I love this salon! I have my hair foiled blonde, and finding someone who is good with blonde hair has always proved challenging, until I started going to Chris, the salon manager. My hair always looks amazing! I get so many compliments on the cut, color and style and the prices are beyond reasonable. I can get a full foil, cut, style and my brows done at their Benefit Bar for less than I used to pay for a partial foil and cut I wasn't even happy with. I also love the convenience of being able to pick up lipstick and foundation afterwards. I highly recommend Chris and the Ulta Salon to anyone looking for new hairdresser on the eastside. read more

This Ulta is always well-stocked and clean. The people who work here are kind and attentive and knowledgable. I usually go to this Ulta instead of the one at Northgate, even though Northgate is way closer to my home in Seattle. The salon is great. Everyone seems to get along and the vibe is fun and chatty while they are doing hair. I always go to Jessica S. I've been seeing her for most of this year. She cuts my hair and does my highlights. My hair has never looked better! I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since I started coming here. She's so attentive with the foils and is extremely careful with bleach. My hair is really soft despite bleaching to take my natural dark blonde up to very light beige blonde. She picked the perfect toner to compliment my skin and get the shade I wanted. The first time I saw her, it was actually to correct this awful dye job I had where a different stylist overbleached my hair to platinum and then tried to cover it with dye that eventually turned neon orange. She worked her magic and fixed it. Jessica has also used a protein treatment on my hair that really improved my hair health and she even removed my grown out shellac polish while the bleach was doing its thing. I can't say enough good things about her. I don't trust anyone else with my hair. I have also utilized their skin services- I got a blackhead clearing facial from Constance. She was very careful with my sensitive skin and gave me lots of great tips for improving my skin routine. It was so relaxing and I felt awesome afterward. My skin was so soft and I saw a dramatic difference in the number of black heads I had. Will definitely go back for another facial soon!!! I wish I could give this place a minus rating because of Hyde. I have always been a fan of ulta and used to shop there. But 2 weeks back I got my first haircut at ulta my worst hair nightmare. From hair everyone ask about what I use to hair I can't wear comfortably. Seems like the lady butchered my hair while blindfolded or used gardening tools. Even my toddler would do a better job. I showed her pictures ,I told her what I want I also told her I like thick hair and don't want it very short but she didn't seem very interested. My hair looks choppy , unbalanced and frizzy. i ll think about her whenever I ll look in the mirror. She needs some training. She told me to get used to with the hair cut I had very thick long hair and she went in with the like she used a sword. I am very disassppointed with ulta and I would never recommend anyone to get a haircut there. I waited 1 year for a haircut because of covid and pregnancy and it would take another whole year to be over such a disaster. I went back to ulta they were like wait for it to grow out and then we can fix it. Gave me refund which I didn't ask for but didn't try to fix it as it was very difficult.
