I've had two negative experiences here since I've lived in Boise. Once I was testing makeup and an extremely unprofessional employee followed me out of the store and stopped me at my car and said my friend and I were "stealing". I opened my bag and showed her it was empty. So rude! The employees don't know what they are doing and I wouldn't trust them with any makeup advice. I think they put returned merchandise back on the store floor too. Gross! read more

Really disappointed... I very clearly said NO THANK YOU to the associates push for magazines and I was still billed for two subscriptions, that I never authorized on my account. Bothers me that you were able to just say yes on my behalf and then access my banking info to charge for something I did not want or authorize. I've been a fan of Ulta in the past, but will be very wary of shopping here from now on and will most definitely encourage anyone I know to at the very least pay CASH here and do not sign up for any loyalty card.... read more

As far as the products go and the store itself; I will say that I absolutely adore this place. However, the past few times I have gone into the store off Milwaukee by the Boise town square mall, I have had THE WORST customer service experiences EVER!!!!! Actually even so to give you guys a little taste of my experience, YESTERDAY (Nov. 28th, 2016) I was shopping around Ulta pretty early in the morning just because I had the day off and I wanted to get some new make up. Well if I go to buy make up I want to take my time, obviously i would like to make sure I am buying the items I want of course. Well the minute I walked in the door I had employees on me like a cat on a mouse. In all truth, I wasn't able to walk around the isles for more then 5 minutes without an employee standing almost within reaching distance of me. Constantly following my every move, needless to say they suspected thievery which is flat out a complete and utter slap in my face to even assume I would do something like that. I have a child and a family, im a full time registered nurse, and have shares in a company that makes me almost 2 grand a week. Quite frankly the fact that they could possibly profile me that way just because I didn't have my make up on and I was in slacks and a sweatshirt. So eventually one of the employees looked in my purse which i had some trash from my eyelashes that I wear regularly. It was the box I use to usually put them in but it was empty there was no tags on it, nothing. IT simply was TRASH. And she looks at me with this "sad but yes I finally caught you" kind of look and says " oh there's a box in your bag" with the rudest mockery voice. And that's when I lost it and said I am not stealing nor do I wish to ever steal. That box is garbage and I wouldn't have my purse wide open for everyone to see if they thought I was stealing. So after I confronted her she proceeded to go to other CUSTOMERS and GOSSIP about me to them. What are we in high school again or something?? After in decided to check out and blow over 150 dollars on new stuff which I loved, no one decided to share with me all the money savings I could have had, all of the buy one get one for 50% off deals that I could have taken advantage of. THey overcharged me and didn't give me any of the discounts I was supposed to get considering all the sales and overcharged me. All because they were social profiling me.... honestly the worst store employees I have EVER experience in my life. I have avoided this place for quite some time now. Had an unpleasant experience in the past with what I feel was bait and switch on sale items that were "sold out" when I came in on the first day of the sale. I asked an associate about it, and she told me that they only received 20 of those items to actually sell. WHAT? That was over a year ago. I thought I would give them another chance today... I was looking for a particular perfume "SJP NYC Crush". Couldn't find it, so I asked an employee who was stocking near the fragrance area; she looked lost and apparently didn't know who Sarah Jessica Parker was (that doesn't matter to me BTW, but the "put off" LOOK on her face spoke volumes). She said she didn't think they had the "Sarah Jessica whoever thing" (like, what-ever!) and then asked a "manager" about SJP over her communicator, but she never told the manager what the fragrance name was (NYC Crush - I did tell her this while she was asking). She then replied "Nah, she says we haven't had her for a long time" - done. Didn't show any empathy, didn't offer additional assistance, just put her head down and probably wished I would go away...which I did. Its the attitude of the staff that turns me off. No one ever approaches me or acknowledges me when I am in there. Maybe I am just expecting too much? No, now I realize why I have been spending my money over at SEPHORA...they have exceptional customer service and are very knowledgeable about the products they sell. read more

My best friend, my one year old son and I, walked in looking for new makeup. No one greeted us. I used a uncapped tester, and was ACCUSED OF STEALING WITH MY SON IN MY ARMS by an older looking woman (who worked there) who rolled her eyes at me after I asked where this occurred. My friend also asked for advice for face cleansing masks and was told that she needed special treatment for her skin type, when she didn't even ask about her skin type. She was offended. She then went to a different girl and asked for a good eye cream and the lady was snobbishly short and gave no information on the products. Most poor experience I've ever had at this Ulta. Not a surprise though. Apparently there are more complaints than just mine. read more

I went in for the first time today. I asked for help and the girl seemed annoyed about my request. When she shoes me what I was asking for I sampled it and was asking her questions and was talking to no one because she left. When I tracked her down to ask her a question she squirted another sample on my finger and walked away. Without even giving me a Kleenex to wipe it off with. I had to track someone down just to get a Kleenex to while all the concealer she squirted on me. That is the first and last time I will ever go there. Sometimes I get a smile and a "welcome to Ulta" when I walk in but most of the time, I don't get anything. The last time I went there for my first purchase of an Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil, I was hoping for some help because of my first time buying this. Didn't happen. After testing and debating for a good 10 minutes with the pencils, still no help. One of the pencils was out of product so I approached the Brow Bar where 4 employees were standing, talking, and not helping customers. I asked for a re-fill of the product so I could test it. One gal acted surprised, but did in fact get a new pencil out for sample. Horrible customer service. Stick with Sephora people. read more

The behavior of the employees at this local Ulta store are disappointing. They do not greet everyone or offer help to people based on how they're dressed or how they look. You're pretty much ignored when you walk in and look around. It's poor customer experience. They make you feel like you're not good enough to shop there even though I've spent a lot of money on their merchandise before. I'm never going to shop there again. I have such an issue of what happened to me with one of your stores. Extremely poor service topped with outright lies over and over again. I went to my local store and saw some Whish products on clearance. I purchased some and went home and used them. Loved them and came back for more the next day. I loved them so much, I contacted family in Idaho to see if they could go to their Ulta to purchase for me ( I am in Indiana). My sister said she would and went to the Boise Towne Square Location on Milwaukee. She got there and saw a full shelf of product, (she sent me a pic) but it was not on clearance. I asked her to see if she could get a price check on it. She asked an associate if they could price check it for her. The associate took one to the register and it rang up 1 cent. My sister said the associate looked like a deer in headlights, like something was wrong. She called over her manager (Alicia-spelling might be incorrect) and the manager told my sister that this was incorrect and that the product is no longer for sale. I sister called me and told me this. This did not make sense, so I called the manager myself after my sister had left. She told me that the product is defective and that they were all testers and they can not sell anything. That she has to return it to the manufacturer, that they wont allow her to sell anything. Still, this made no sense. What made sense to me, was this was supposed to be on clearance, this store did not have their act together and have it marked on clearance, and perhaps it was time to get rid of the product.She told me AT THAT Very moment the product was being pulled to send back to the manufacturer. At this point, there is nothing she or I could do. After that conversation, I reached out to Whish company themselves and wanted to verify this information. Just as I thought, the response I got was that it is up to the STORE, not the manufacturer what they do with the product. They would not be requesting this product back. I let them know that this store is OUTRIGHT refusing to sell it to me, and I believe it is because of a mistake they were making but did not want to admit to it. I was told again, that this is Ulta's issue and that is had nothing to do with them. My reply was very courteous and informative. My husband decided to call and talk to the manager. He was told that there was NO PRODUCT but some self tanner to be sold. (This is contrary to what she told me and my sister-before she was not allowed to sell anything!) She also said that it was not on clearance and would not be (same thing she told me). My sister came back the next day to see if in fact this was true. SURE ENOUGH, my sister found shelves of product FOR SALE and ON CLEARANCE! She sent me pics of this as well as the original shelf where she saw the product the day before. This is OBVIOUS they messed up and were correcting what they did not do, all the while lying to me, my husband and my sister. Against my better judgment and giving this store ANY BUSINESS, I had her purchase what I wanted, because I could not get it anywhere else on clearance. That night, my husband called and talked to the manager again. We have both conversations on recording because his phone defaults to this in case we need it for anything. This blows me away...seriously. This manager replied to my husband after he noted that my sister went in and saw shelves on product and on clearance for sale...that it must have been product people returned. She said that she has no idea how that product got there and marked on clearance, because SHE is the one that did what "little" product they had. My husband told her we have pics of the product they have, she said again, she did not know how it got there. She failed to admit that this product was NOT to be sold as originally noted, she did say that perhaps the manufacture sent MORE!!! She said that there was some mixed up information provided to him and me and my sister by someone that thought they knew what was going on. Um...we have only talked to her...so she is blaming someone...but she didnt realize she is ....blaming herself. This is completely unacceptable for anyone to be treated and that she took no responsibility for any of it. I was REFUSED to purchase product (through my sister) and had to come back time and time again to be lied to, JUST LIED TO by your manager. read more
