The workers here are so unprofessional, every time I go to ulta I have a bad experience. Girl in the front register was so rude and had a bad attitude, not helpful at all presented her a coupon and she said it all rude that I couldn't use the coupon and instead of giving me a min or two to search for another coupon it seemed to me that she was rushing me to get me out of there when there was no line at all. I have been coming to this location pretty much since it opened. I will go to Redondo as and alternative at time but this Ulta is really nice. I usually get brows done by Kiana and i recently had a facial which was quite good and well priced IMO. I have recently decides to give hair styling a try here and i was not disappointed. Ultas stylist, Mary knows her stuff. Super nice and skilled with handling long thick hair, she is quickly becoming my new fav. Ive had a regular stylist for a while who is at a diff salon but i always have a backup stylist. Mary at Ulta washes, conditions, blows out and curls my long hair in about 1.5 hours or less. That is a record. Quality cannot be beat as she does better than my regular girl. Additionally she saves me 45 mins to an hour by getting me done quickly. But the best part is my curls and style last til i see her again! The other plus is i am in the rewards program so i rack up points quickly which i can redeem for cash savings. The only drawback is their weekly coupons are very limited on what you can use them on so im always accumulating or using reward points. I do wish coupons were a bit better. Being a successful makeup artist and also working in customer service I can say that I felt disgusted leaving this store. From the moment I walked in the security guard and 2 workers were staring at me and not staring at any other customers. One lady that greeted me seemed nice but I've never felt like I was being watched over ever in my life. Not everyone is a thief and the workers in this store made me feel like if I had stole something, don't follow people around and stare at them. I am a dedicated Ulta customer and have been for years, while maintaining platinum status - I guess you can say I don't mind spending money here. I decided to stop by at this Ulta seeing as it was right off the 91 - never again! The security guard (yes, SECURITY GUARD, first Ulta I have ever seen this at) and employees followed me around the whole time. Never once was I asked if I needed help, just closely followed around. Definitely not a comfortable shopping environment whatsoever. Two big thumbs down. Maybe an Ulta should not have opened in this neighborhood if they're THAT concerned over shoplifting. I will add that the store is clean and pretty organized, but I am assuming it's only because of how close they keep a watch on you. read more

I was looking for specific Neutrogena products and could not find them anywhere until I searched the web and it brought me here. Wow!! This place is massive I was really amazed how big it was, how much stock they have, and how everything is nice and neat in various sections of the store. They have every brand you can think of, on top of all the beauty products, they have colognes, plenty of accessories, an eyebrow bar, and a make up and hair salon. I will be returning here for all my beauty essentials from now on because their prices were reasonable, they had plenty of clearance sections, and buy one get one half off. They don't have anything! The girl that was supposed to assist me went to someone else and I had t0 wait another 10 minutes for her after already waiting 10. Then she couldn't match me. She literally switched 13 colors on me! And she kept saying "it's just so hard to for me" so I ended telling her to stop because she clearly was not able to help then wanted to get my diamond gift and they didn't have any of them in stock!! It was ridiculous. I ended up buying anything to use my rewards. I'm never buying from ulta again! They do not care if you have been a loyal customer for 6 years and spend thousands of dollars . I was really pleased with my experience here, I actually could find the stuff I was looking for (SHOCKING) and they had a lot of things I've only seen online in stock. Big plus for me! They have the widest color range I have ever seen at an Ulta (lots of warmer and darker tones) which I definitely appreciate. I am more of a medium skin-tone but I sometimes have to adjust depending on how tan I am. Its nice to have so many options. This is also one of the cleanest and most organized Ultas I have been to. And, there wasn't the attack of people having gone through the products, half-opened, and tested on. All the stuff I saw still had their integrity in tact! I skimmed through other reviews and found a huge complaint to be the security at the location. I think they have replaced them with secret shoppers, people dressed in normal clothes vs. just wearing security outfits. Every single large chain/retailer uses this method so I didn't find it to be distracting. I could tell who this was, because she would pretend to look at the stuff I was looking at and was watching me. To me, this isn't a big deal cause it didn't interfere with my shopping experience. I am also one of those people that doesn't like to be bothered while I am shopping. If I need help, I can track someone down but I don't like to be pestered by a sales person at every corner. All in all, I really like this location and I see myself shopping here more than the one that is closer to my house. read more

I went to this location today and everyone on shift was extremely helpful. Although I had an amazing experience, it was Jennifer who helped to push my experience to new heights. She was personable and gave me great recommendations. She was able to relate as a consumer and pushed me in the direction of items that were not only hot buys but were also worth spending. I had higher hopes for this Ulta, as they carry a wider range of selection than most other Ulta locations. Think Honest Beauty, Lipstick Queen,etc. I knew exactly what product I wanted to purchase and proceeded to where it was located. I passed 4 employees and not one of them acknowledged me. No "hi", "can I help you?", NOTHING. I didn't mind so much, but there was a lady that needed help with something. She asked "DOES ANYBODY WORK HERE?!". I chuckled as you would think the only person working here was the girl at the cash register. Finally someone came to her and helped her, but then proceeded to put lipstick on. I've never seen employees refreshing their makeup while there are customers in the store that are needing help. I began to wonder where everyone went, then I looked over there were 3 employees standing around "shopping". I found the product I was looking for then went to pay. There was only one cashier at the time. This is perplexing why are there 5+ employees on the floor shopping for themselves instead of one more helping at the register? I look behind me and I see ANOTHER employee playing with their lashes. When I say playing she was either finishing her mascara, wiping her lids, or wiping mascara from lids. JUSTINE the "associate manager" helped me with check out. Upon checking out she and another employee start talking about another customer. Granted the customer was "out there" and a bit "strange", her conversation with the other employee in front of me (the customer) showed a lack of professionalism being that she is "management". I also noticed that my transaction did not come up when viewing online. When I called Ulta's CS line and gave them the info they informed me that the points weren't applied to my account,but to someone else's account. **make sure to check your receipt to make sure you're getting your points because who know where they will end up** NOTE: Management- Re-evaluate the amount of employees you have scheduled. Clearly having 5+ people that stand around and shop for themselves instead of helping customers shows there's NOT enough for them to do. Save the payroll. read more

I waited almost a month to visit this location and the store was still sparkling. I went in the middle of the day and everything was meat and tidy. I almost had a complaint that there was no tissue to wipe off tested cosmetics but then an employee went around filling tissue containers without me saying a word. Speaking of testers, this store was so new that many of the testers needed the seal broken. I loved that! They had almost all the brands with the exception of Lançome. Special note to African-American and Latinas, they had stylists that specialized in our hair at the salon. This store also had very good brow technicians. (I was browsing the Anastasia section while she worked.) Lastly, the customer service was really good. I was left to browse but an employee or two did ask if I needed help. I'll be back. Let's just hope I don't see any icky people testing the "for sale" products instead of asking for a tester like I did at the Redondo Beach location. (Sidenote to the stranger I told that was nasty! My actual rating would be a 2.5 stars, first time there with my wife was pretty great... they helped us find the product she was looking for, signed us up for the free membership and even made a hair appointment with a price given... but when we returned two days later for the hair appointment it was a mess! The counter lady agreed on the price and was checking us in and even remembered us, then when the "hair stylist" walked up she said that price was all wrong and it was atleast double to take a inch off and "blow out" (idk if i am saying that right) we told her how 2 separate workers gave us this price and if she wont do it for that price then can we get another person that can... her reply was "no one will and i am the only one here, thats not what it cost" im like wow, it was hard enough to convince my wife to come here and get her hair done but now youre forcing me to walk out. I honestly prefer Sephora over Ulta , however the Ulta is really close to my job so I find it convenient. Every time I go , yes sometimes the cashier is greeting the customers coming in. But there is no staff available to assist on the floor. The times I been here I only see the cashier and the security guard. Which I find inconvenient since there is nobody to ask for help. I like the fact that Ulta has a lot, like I can go purchase from a head band to a perfume and even do my hair... They have a little bit of everything which is convenient. Although a little hard to find something specific without having to go through every aisle. But I guess, its ok since they have so much. I just wish there were more friendlier staff around to assist. read more

I go to this particular ulta because i find that thos location has the widest selection of products that i need to but for my skin type. I specifically come for their anti stress lines such as SKYN ICLANDIA on of my favorite products and they actually sell it for a discount since i joined their frequent buyer program. I also purchase DERMOLOGICA products for skin rejuvenation and general skin maintenance and also anti acne products. If you join their frequent buyer program you can get good discounts on products and save alot off the retail price. On average i save about 40 -50 dollars a month on the products i buy for being a member and also shopping on their website as well. This location makes me so sad. I feel like every time I visit this location the prices aren't accurately displayed, there's a mess and the staff is so bleh! I feel like the girls seem so annoyed whenever you ask for help and frankly there aren't enough people staffed or on the floor making sure your shopping experience is going well. As someone who works retail there should be better customer service standards for such a prestigious company. Greet your customers, say thank you while ringing them out, you know, the basics. Let me start off by saying I've been coming to this location for over 4 years. I've never walked into a store and felt such a horrible vibe like I did yesterday. I work down the street at the Courthouse so go in often on my lunch. The employees are always in groups talking amongst each other and don't think about asking for help because they clearly get bothered. The gentleman with a ton of makeup on hazel I believe he said his name was beyond rude snd just pointed to the area where I could find Stila. Didn't bother walking me or anything. I also asked the brow girl if they closed the brow bar on weekends now because I had been in on 3 different Saturdays and was told the brow bar was closed. I mean who closes a waxing bar on weekends when it's the busiest. She gave me the ugliest attitude and rolled her eyes and said no just some Saturdays. No explanation nothing. Very unprofessional. I than approached the MAC counter and a pleasant lady Tara asked if I was doing ok. The only person in that store who greeted me and offered to help. She stepped away to help someone else so I asked a lady with braces for a quick question and she turned her back on me and said wait. Wasn't wearing a name badge and looked angry. Walked back to the group by the brow bar and continued to chat. This is not the first time co workers from the courthouse also mention how no one helps or greets. How all the employees always seem mad. Ulta please train your employees on customer service because they clearly lack. Where is the manager? I come in weekly and never see a manager on the floor. When I ask for one she's always in the office. Manager come out and check your employees. You are loosing business because your not doing your job. And clearly neither is the staff. This store has gotten worse by the day. 2 years ago you had friendly staff and managers walking greeting everyone in store being visible/approachable and now good luck tracking one down. My co workers and I have pledged to not return to Compton Ulta since our business and hard earn money isn't appreciated. We drive out of our way to Long Beach Exchange but are always greeted and helped. Employees are friendly and bubbly. This store should be shut down for good. Extremely unprofessional. I had an appointment at 5 pm and Veronica, who was suppose to color my hair never showed up. I got there about 10 minutes early and Donta asked me to wait a few minutes otherwise he'd work on me. He did do that, he was also very polite which I like, but he was also working on another client and it was just going to take too long. Why go through the process of making an appointment and confirming if you're not going to show. This was going to be my first time coloring my hair at Ulta and this was a very unpleasant experience, beside of course Donta who was very nice. Not sure if I'll ever go back, though. read more

First time shopper!!!! & loved it!!! Went for Bare Minerals. I have sensitive skin & I break out easily so Mac just isn't for me! Anyways, I walked in & the Bare Minerals wall was right in front. They had everything nice & organized & have testers for everything! They were busy so when I asked for assistance on finding the right shade I had to wait a little BUT!!! The lady who helped me found me the perfect shade! We both chose a shade that we both thought would be correct. Turns out I have very light undertones so she decided to go lighter. & it was perfect. She didn't try to upsale me, she recommended some other products like the mineral veil or setting spray but other than that she let me choose the rest on my own (which I love! Because at Mac they try to add on as much as possible). I can't wait To go back for more of the line!!!! read more

This was my to go to location. I use to love it. All employees have always been super nice and helpful. I moved out of the area and continued to go because I just loved the atmosphere. I went in this past weekend and was looking at some KKW lipliners and saw the security guard by me. I was pretty much alone, the store was empty so I thought it was odd but no biggie. Initially when the Compton Ulta opened up I was very excited to no longer have to drive far to shop at my favorite store. But I will say I absolutely hate this store now. I work nearby and used to shop here at least twice a month. I even used to get my hair done by Christina in the salon. I stopped in because it was payday and its convenient to shop here. I had to use the ladies room and some alarm went off, I didn't even think much of it since I had left the merchandise I was buying on a rack before I went into the ladies room. When I walked out 4 of the employees were staring at me. I grabbed my merchandise and went to pick up another item. I proceeded to go to the register when a fake blonde was telling the manager something about me. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I have been going to this ulta since they opened and it is closest to me. I really can not stand some of the employees there. They can be very rude especially one of the managers. Every time I go and I run into her she is just rude doesn't greet you at all and just chitchat with the rest of the employees there. Every time I go with someone and she over hears them asking me a question or my opinion about a certain product for some reason that same manager happens to be there cuts me off and answers the questions for me with an attitude then looks at you like you're really stupid. And the security they have is also the worst. They once had a young female that just wouldn't stop talking with the girl at the brow bar, then they had an older lady that would follow you to every single isle and make you feel so uncomfortable and very obvious.
