We came here during our recent trip to LA and I have to give them 5 stars because the associate really gave us that personalized service! We needed some foundation and she led us to an old but good brand that I fell in love with a long time ago! It was hypoallergenic and in the beat cutest packaging ! I went into Ulta Beauty twice in one single day, and both times I couldn't get any assistance. I walked the hair product aisles needing help, just circling and hoping someone would notice--no one did. I spent over fifteen minutes in the store and still no one came over. I even left, walked around the mall for about forty-five minutes, then went back in thinking maybe the timing would be better. Still no assistance. We came in for a brow wax at benefit inside of Ulta and it did not go well. Management comped us for it. Which was great. We have had many eyebrow waxing at benefit in Sephora. And never have had a problem. Management also helped us find an eyebrow pencil that would help cover up the mistake until it grew out. We paid for it, and then left and realized the color was completely off. So we stopped by another Ulta in Marina del Rey to return the product and look for another option. The girl who helped us in Marina del Rey was very helpful. She was very friendly and helped us come up with two different products that basically made the brow look normal. But the cost ended up being about $60 so we ask them if they could give us a discount or comp it because of what happened. They told us that we should go back to the other store and ask them to do the comp , noting that if the problem had happened in their store, they definitely would've covered it. So the next day we drove back to this Ulta and they refused to comp the products. We ended up paying for them because it was necessary to cover up the mistake. And what Ulta said was that we could return them after we're done with them which we will do. It just seems wrong to me that we would have to pay almost twice as much for products to fix the problem that we would have paid for the service itself. We will be returning the products. Dont go here. I am force to come here for items I desperately need because I work on tv as a makeup artist and sometimes they only have what I need here. First of all nobody wants to help you, nobody knows their brands. I been several time looking for a specific product they say they don't have it when the website says they have it and I have proven to them they have it because I have to find it myself. One time this girl was arguing with me the didn't have a eyeshadow palette, I showed her the website that said they had them. This stores is on the 2nd floor with floor size windows so if you go during the time the sun hits directly in the store, you will not be able to see. It somewhat blind me why i was trying to shop/test a few products. I saw the windows had a shade blind i went over to bring it down enough to be able to continue to test the product i was interested in. Then i hear someone yelling "NO THEY NEED TO BE UP" i responded I cant see the makeup. I realized she was a staff member probably a manager or something, her name is Evelyn Muro. The stylist I had (Pierre) was not very knowledgeable or skilled despite what was indicated on his Bio on the Ulta site; which is why I booked with him. It felt like he just graduated from school. Constantly asked his coworkers for advice on things (how to use the flat iron, how long to leave me under the dryer) Additionally, something about the products he used on my hair has my hair being "sticky" and my style was flat less than 1 hour after leaving his chair. As someone who usually accompanies my wife to her appointments at Ulta, I've come to somewhat know the environment well. My wife sees Elizabeth, and she's consistently professional, attentive, and makes sure her clients leave happy, that's why we keep coming back. However, I feel compelled to speak up about one of the male cosmetologists who works there. I don't know his name, hes tall, kinda balding , but I've watched enough to notice a troubling pattern. Time and time again, his clients leave looking visibly disappointed or underwhelmed with their results. It's honestly hard to ignore when you're sitting there regularly, and that seems to be the case more often than not. Especially about two maybe three weeks ago, He was coming off very combative like he's not open to feedback or collaboration, and thinks he knows everything. Yet ironically, I've seen him on at least a couple of occasions asking the other stylists, for advice on how to fix or improve his work. That alone should be humbling, but unfortunately, his attitude doesn't reflect that. All in all, it's disappointing to witness, especially in a place that usually maintains a positive and professional vibe. I hope management takes a closer look at this because it's clearly affecting the overall client experience. and if you can see that it's affecting the clients experience you can clearly see it's affecting the worker environment as well read more

Absolutely horrible costumer service. Every single time I shopped at this location, there have been at least 2 workers at a time watching me like a hawk, making sure I'm not shoplifting. On one occasion, I went there with a foundation that I needed to exchange so right when I walked in, I asked the cashier if it was alright if I carried the product with me around the store and she said it was fine. About 2 minutes later 3 employees and security were following me around the store. This was just truly unprofessional and made me feel horrible. This is also a thing that only has happened to me at this location. Ugly personality and the attitude just by asking the two cashiers how to pull up the barcode on my app to get the item. At that point I had put my phone away didn't have the give away in front of me and didn't know what else besides a mask for pores so I asked her do u have something to look at so I can pick? She just pointed at something far in line that I can't see cuz A. They are small gifts and B people are in line blocking it.... So I said ok can I just get the mask for pores, and she looked at me like I was stupid, oh speaking a different language and she said a mask???? Yeah the one for the pores I know that was in the list and she was just staring at me I don't know why it was awkward and frustrating so at this point I don't care and I told her just bring me whatever u have, she kept staring at me and I said bring the first thing you see and handed to me not hard.... She brought 4 items and I grabbed the mask and said this is the mask for pores that you have been giving away all month just so u know. She just did her think in the computer and said u want a bag. When he was there an employee approached him asking him if he needed help which he proceeded asking questions on the colognes. As soon as he asked his questions, the employee would not leave and started staring at him making him uncomfortable. She then asked another employee over and said something to them about him.. being absolutely obvious. Who knows what they told each other but they then immediately said something on the pager to the employee that was ringing me up. We then have three employees staring at him and they were saying stuff right in front of us. The girl ringing me up was huffing and puffing, shaking her head.. why? He eventually had to speak up for himself and ask if they needed something because they would not stop. Super unprofessional and disrespectful. I hope you guys werent assuming he was doing something he wasnt because one of the employees participating helped me out with some products. I was also literally paying. I HOPE you guys were not assuming he was doing anything because of the way his sweater was. He's an amputee and tucks in his sweater that way so I really HOPE you guys were not assuming otherwise. When we arrived, the stylist Juliette B. asked us if we had an appointment and when I told her yes and the time she walked to the back, motioned for the other African American stylist to come to the back with her and told that stylist she couldn't do my daughter's hair. Juliette didn't have the decency to tell me that to my face. Instead she sent the African American stylist to tell me. I complained to the manager but I know it won't do any good hence why I am making this review. My daughter's hair has been wash blow dryer and flat ironed at multiple ULTA Beauty's in LA with no issue. I am appalled. Who said she was the manager when I asked for one after being told she could not do an even exchange on an item that I purchased on sale. I didn't want to return it just exchange the color and she said I had to pay the difference. Since when don't you do even exchanges? We tried to exchange it not even get money back. A "manager" forgot her name said they would exchange it but would give her the lowest price? We asked how much. She laughed and said $3. We were shocked $3 for a perfume they sold for $140. How's that possible? She said that's the company policy. So we are stuck with a perfume she doesn't really like. Obviously there's a lot of bad reviews for this store so the company obviously doesn't care to improve the quality of their company or customer service but I have to still leave this review because I've never felt so uncomfortable at a store before. I went in browsing around, looking at makeup and skincare products and a worker asks me if everything is okay, I say yes. Another worker asks me if everything is okay and if I need anything, I say yes I'm okay. The same worker (she has green hair and she may be a manager or supervisor if I'm not mistaken) asks me again if everything is okay literally a few minutes after she just asked me. Obviously I know that when your workers keep doing that, you think someone is stealing. In addition to that, in between her asking me, she keeps checking over in the area that I'm in, coming back again pretending to restock things. I felt so uncomfortable and borderline harassed because I know what she's trying to do and I definitely feel racially profiled against because I did not see her harassing other customers like that. Fast forward and I'm waiting at the register and another worker is helping me find a gloss that I want to purchase. I hear the worker with the green hair loudly speak to another worker right in front of me that she caught someone stealing and that she went to go check on her (saying the same things she was saying to me). Unprofessional to even have a loud conversation like that in front of other customers. Good that she caught someone stealing but at the expense of racially profiling other customers, harassing them, and making other customers feel uncomfortable. Horrible business. Of all the Ulta's, this is the only one that has bad associates and managers. They are quick to judge, no matter what the situation may actually be. Even after making a purchase, both a manager and associate (on separate occasions) refused to give me access to the bathroom. Even though I was wearing makeup and holding a receipt, both saw nothing but the taxi driver shirt I was wearing. Yet, almost all of the makeup I get is from Ulta. I never have this problem with any other Ulta. Will not come back to this one. Maybe these so-called associates don't realize: bad service leads to no sales and no job. read more

5 stars for the salon, shout out Jose for an incredible hair touch up appointment. he truly is gifted and talented in his craft and i am so grateful. also Bailey who blew my hair out beautifully. as for the rest of the store, it was awesome when it came to cleanliness and organization. it's not a 5 because during my hair appointment while my hair was processing, i was shopping and asked Elizabeth (a manager) if she could place items in my shopping bag on hold up at the front. when i came back to purchase, the items had all been dumped into the go backs basket which was so upsetting that my hold was not properly secured. so i had to find my items from the basket... i shopped around a bit more and when it was time to purchase, the cashier called up a manager to ring me up and her name was Aura. the cashier explained to her "she needs a manager to check her out, she is an employee" to which she responded carelessly in a rude condescending tone "REALLY?" looking at me up and down in judgemental disbelief, as if i wasn't standing right in front of them and couldn't hear everything they were saying. just because i came to get my hair done without my makeup done and in pajama pants doesn't mean i don't deserve courtesy, kindness and most of all, RESPECT regardless of my appearance. she didn't even glance at my ID when i held it up for her to verify my identity as policy states which i felt was dismissive and rude. i would NEVER treat a guest this way. so unprofessional and i don't ever care to come back to shop at this unwelcoming location. i left feeling so uncomfortable. read more
