Employees are consistently the rudest and most disengaged I've ever encountered in a retail store. To the point it's actually unpleasant to shop here. They are always too busy talking amongst themselves to acknowledge customers and have such an attitude when approached. And the checkout process is painful, with them repeatedly badgering you for your phone number. A few months ago, the sales girl, after I declined THREE TIMES to give her my number, slammed my product on the counter. Last week, a sales girl refused to provide me with a receipt, telling me I had to give her my phone number to get one. Total BS. This is clearly a store culture problem - or an Ulta problem - because I don't find this behavior so consistently anywhere else. New management is needed asap. I have came here a few times even during my past years here. I love how Ulta comes with $3.50 off coupon when I need to get some makeup essentials that I use everyday. Today, I got the nyx setting spray, la girl green corrector, and olehenriksen in the shade strawberry sorbet. I have bought a morphe foundation and the olehenriksen in the original scent and I love it & had to grab another scent. The employee is very nice and friendly. The store is very clean, organized, and spacious to walk around to find the makeup brands. There is a lot of parking better than the last location they were at before. I'm also hoping by the end of today I would get my points in the app. I would definitely come back here to stock on my makeup when I'm near the Huntington Beach area. read more

I recently had my hair done by Amanda Car for my wedding. I explained what I wanted and showed reference pictures. I have a lot of hair but it's not very long and I didn't want extensions as they never match the color of my natural hair. Unfortunately, the a/c was off on an abnormally hot day and the staff was tied up with high-maintenance customers that held up the check-out line. I desperately needed a brow wax and Esme was absolutely AMAZING! she fixed my tragic brows and tinted my brows for the first time. i was hesitant about the tinting but the end result was phenomenal. i don't trust many people with my brows but esme is so qualified. i'll be traveling back in june and i will be booking another appointment with her for sure! also never got the benefit manager's name but she was equally wonderful. anyone looking to get their brows done should go to esme...you will be in great hands! :) read more

This review is for the beauty service, provided by Summer K. My makeup artist cancelled the appointment two weeks before, and I was rushed into finding another. Unfortunately, everyone I contacted was not available. It was when I found out about Ulta Beauty Services. I booked the formal makeup, and was quoted to start at $60, with an additional $10 for eyelashes. The location called me a week prior to the appointment to confirm, which to me was quite far in advance to make a reminder. On the day of the appointment, I proceeded to the end of the Ulta store, to the Salon area. I was quickly greeted and led to Summer. I have to say that I booked her because of her impressive profile photo look. After describing the look I wanted, she got into it immediately. I appreciate the silence going on between us as I am not a chatty person. Summer really took her time to go into the detail and ensuring everything blended nicely. The letdown of this experience has to be the lack of choices. While I was able to describe the look and expectation, I wasn't given a chance to select the shades of colors (e.g., pink lipstick -- but what shade of pink). There was a huge trust that Summer would bring out the look I was after, and she did not disappointed me -- except the lip color. I must say it looks different under the indoor lighting versus the outdoor lighting. But it was an easy fix with a tissue to tone it down. The choice I could make was picking the lashes. I was surprised that these lashes are reusable! For services I received elsewhere, they usually trashed the box so I assumed they were one time lashes. Here at Ulta, I was informed that I could reuse the lashes up to whatever it stated -- that was why they gave me the box. At check out, I was told that the service -- before lashes, taxes and fees, was $70, which is $10 higher than expected. I understand the quote I received was "starting at," but I was not sure what was the criteria for the additional $10 -- maybe the artist status? I will definitely come back for future make up services provided by Summer! Highly recommend her for formal looks. read more

Wow, the lack of customer service here is astounding! Back in the day, the gals here were so sweet and beyond helpful. I usually do curbside pickup or online ordering so I guess I haven't experienced what most Yelpers have said. Today, I went in and it was terrible. I spent a long time browsing and packing my basket. Once I was finished, I went to check out. The degree of rudeness from the cashier and her partner in crime was beyond me. To call them unprofessional would be an understatement. This is not the Ulta I'm used to so I'll continue to order online for delivery rather than go in, If I ever need to go in for last minute items, I'll drive to the surrounding Ulta's. Sure, this is a 5 min drive but I'll happily drive the 15-20 mins extra to enjoy my shopping experience. Based on the rest of the Yelp reviews, it seems like this is normal for them. I'll tell you what it was the best thing that could ever happen. I was told I could never go blonde my hair was to dark or to long. I just didn't have the right hair stylist, but after coming to Breonna it was like we've known each other for years . She is the most genuine caring person not just a hairstylist a friend! I went over to Ulta last Monday to book a last minute appointment to have my hair and makeup done for my son's wedding today. I was grateful they were able to squeeze me in. When I arrived, I was told that I booked a hair appt for a flat iron and blow out curl (whatever that is), I told her no, I booked a messy bun or inverted ponytail with some volume. The person who booked me apparently didn't enter the info correctly. I have a lot of layers which is why I didn't want to try doing I myself. The gal who I had the appointment with must not have had much experience with what I wanted because she kept taking her work apart. I was open to suggestion and she told she recommended that she just curl my hair. I kept telling her multiple times that I wanted volume and she basically flattened my hair. I finally got so frustrated that I caved and said it looked fine because I wanted to move on, I already knew I was going home to fix it. Moving on to makeup, she was very experienced and said she loved doing wedding makeup. I showed her pictures of what I wanted. I also had her put my false eye lashes on because I didn't know how. The left eye was way off and my daughter had to re-apply it when I got home. The gal did not prime my eyelids or use concealer under my eyes. I paid $160 for hair and make up plus tip ($185 total) and went home to fix my pathetic hair and eyelash. read more

They took us late after confirming the appointment continuously with me for 2 weeks, they even confirmed with with me via a phone call twice. They take us half an hour late and rush with the makeup application , leaving us with minimal make up and poor application (dry, crusty spots). Stopped by this location recently to pick up my birthday freebie. For the month of May I was gifted the Bumble & Bumble heat protectant spray. I came in with my little pug and were nicely greeted by the staff. Once I got the register, the girl at the counter was very patient with me and made sure I had an account with Ulta. This review is for Damian. A true amazing experience to remember. I stopped by Ulta in hopes of finding new makeup for a first night out in over a year. While I was looking for a foundation that best fit my needs, I met Damian. I told him about my story of not wearing makeup for almost a year due to grief. He listened and he went out above and beyond to help me choose all the essentials I needed for makeup (foundation, eyeshadow, lip, etc). The kindness, sincerity and patience he gave me made an impact, I'll always remember it. Especially for someone like myself coming in with less confidence and not knowing how to get back into the habit of wearing makeup again. If anyone is reading this and is visiting Ulta at this location, ask for Damian, he is a true angel. He is in the MAC department but will help you get everything you need to look good. Oh my goodness this Ulta is not customer friendly. I walked in the store. No one said hello and greeted me. Walked past at least a couple of associates. Not one asked is there something I can do for you? Are you looking for something? They moved to a new location I thought maybe they would, be more friendly totally opposite. They have not changed. I wish that a corporate person would do a mystery client to see exactly how horrible their customer service is. I purposely walked around almost every aisle to see if someone at least acknowledge my existence because I was actually looking for a product not one person did. My visit was on July 11 the time I'm posting this at 3:58. I was in the store at 10 to 15 minutes. I hope the next time I come, they'll be more friendly. read more

So I visited Ulta last month, which turned out to be a not very pleasant experience. I wanted to buy some makeup and add two ear piercings. I brought the make-up color that I needed with me and proceeded to the makeup and piercing counter. I told the young attendant that I wanted pearl studs at least three times and showed her where I wanted the studs. One place was in the cartilage of the ear. She said, "I can't do cartilage". So, I changed the place on the ear, which was also cartilage, and she did it anyway. She put in the wrong studs, which were stainless balls, not pearls. They did not have the appropriate materials available to complete the process so I was given a credit on my bill. So, I moved to the makeup counter. The young woman dropped liquid makeup on my new white pants. She proceeded to get a makeup remover pad and wipe it into the fabric, at which time I said, never mind, I'll get it out when I get home. When I went to check out they asked me if I wanted to leave a gratuity(REALLY??) to which I replied, no. Unfortunately, my white pants were ruined. I tried everything to get the makeup out. Nothing worked. I went back to the store with my pants and spoke with the manager. She was receptive, took pictures and said she would contact headquarters, and someone would call me. They did call me the next day. I provided all my information to them again. And that was the end. Never heard back from them. I'm sure they interviewed the young ladies responsible and they probably said that I dropped the makeup myself, however, I never held the bottle in my hand. She had the makeup the entire time. In addition, the ear piercings were not even. FYI, I read an Online article that stated ULTA has bad customer service. In my case, it's true. read more
