Ordered few items online on Saturday late evening since it was the last day items were on sale and this location had what I needed. However, I knew I wasn't going to be able to pick them up til the following Saturday as I do not go that way during the week. Called the store to let them know and Fatima (one of the store managers) said to call back the next day when receiving email notice. Received email notice saying I had to pick them up by Thursday, otherwise, they go back on the shelves. Called again but another associate insisted she had to cancel my order. Told her Fatima said to call the day of and they would put it on hold til Saturday. Well, I came in person on Friday (the very next day after I talked to the associate) and my order was already canceled! This is the first time this ever happened to me. I have always been able to call other Ulta locations and have them hold the orders for a few days until I pick them up. A stylist should never raise their voice at a child, especially in a place where people expect care, patience, and professionalism. Was greeted by Emily and she was very helpful, didn't rush me on what to get and showed me around of my options for my face as I needed something for my blemish ( concealer with sun screen). This Ulta Beauty location is at Bella Terra. I've been here hundreds of times. The customer service is lacking and the staff are not knowledgeable about their products. I like that they carry many brands of skincare. The prices are much higher here than Target or Walmart for drugstore brands like Revlon and Almay. I went here for a Too Face eyeshadow class. The bummer was none of the makeup artists would put eyeshadow on us. They said it would take too long. But she had no problem doing a pre foundation item, foundation, concealer, and contour. That took over 45 minutes. I can guarantee the eyeshadow would have taken way less time to apply. Also the bathroom was disgusting. There was trash all over the floor and no toilet paper or soap. So no one thought the night before this event that hey maybe someone should clean the bathroom?????!!!!! Overall a disappointing experience. * In my starving college days, I never used cosmetics or any face cream, I just put cucumber slices on my face and ate a lot of grapes and tomatoes the ingredients from these veggies are in many expensive French face creams. I started to have a few sun/age spots a few years ago and bought hydroquinone, the spot corrector now basically almost banned bc of it causing severe irritation and possibly carcinogenic. Imagine my delight when I took my husband to see his dermatologist and the staff gave me 2 samples of the new Eucerin face serum, it has Thiamidol (isobutylamido thiazolyl resorcinol) it was identified as the most potent inhibitor of human tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production. Thiamidol was discovered by German scientists working for the personal care company Beiersdorf AG, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. * I spent 5 days chasing after this product, I went to every CVS in OC, they all ran out, Walmart, Walgreen, I finally found it in ULTA!! Whoohoo! They have a sale, buy 1 get 1 40% off! $43 so $72 for 2. * I went in and was greeted at the door and the lady asked if she could help me find something, I said yes and in 1 min got what I wanted. I don't understand why a Yelpie complained about being followed, they did get rid of the security guard though, I'm glad everybody is always friendly but not overbearing like in dept stores, those folks bother the heck out of you when you try to decide what to buy, at Ulta you can spend 20 min and you are on your own, they only help when you ask them. They also have so many products for you to try, perfumes etc.. * I like this one girl/boy he or she makes no difference to me but she was very nice and always friendly, I see new faces but she is always there for years. * Ulta is the place to buy your cosmetics in a relaxed atmosphere, no wonder their stock is skyhigh off the roof, I wish I had bought them when they IPO. * They had a beauty salon in the back of the store but I never used them as they charged a lot for a balayage, I don't even have long hair or need a balayage or bleached to be blonde so if you like this kind of service, they seem to be doing a good job here. I rated Ulta 4 stars the last time, I would have rated them 5 stars today but decided on 4 again because of the price they charged for the Eucerin, wo the sale this week it would have been $42, when it should be $25 bought by mail but I'm going on vacation and need this now. read more

Was up at Bella Terra yesterday and was saddened to see Ulta gone from the location by the fountain. Much to my surprise and delight, my navigation system showed them still in the vicinity. They have moved over near Whole Foods. I wandered in to see if I could get some Christmas gift ideas for my nieces. I meandered around, looked for a new foundation then ended up in the Dermalogica section where I got a facial and ended up spending more than I planned LOL! Not sure of the ladies names who did my facial but they couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. read more

I just bought a cologne for my husband from Ulta, and I have mixed feelings about the experience. I don't want to completely bash the store because the first associate who approached my husband and me was actually very sweet and helpful, I just didn't catch her name. She grabbed the cologne for us and brought it up front, so shoutout to her for being pleasant. Unfortunately, the checkout experience with the cashier, Rachel, was the complete opposite. The first thing I asked was whether they accepted tap payments. It was a simple question, but the way Rachel responded came off unprofessional and condescending, like I had just asked something ridiculous. I'm a manager myself, so I understand that employees get repetitive or even "dumb" questions all day. That doesn't mean customers should be made to feel dumb for asking them. Customer service still matters. Then came the phone number situation. Rachel asked for my phone number, and I politely said I didn't want to add one. That should have been the end of it. Instead, she pushed it again and said something along the lines of, "Well, in case it doesn't work out or you want to return it, I suggest you put in a number." If a customer says no, that should be respected. Why would I buy a cologne just to return it? Is my husband supposed to wear it for one night and decide the next day we should bring it back? It just felt unnecessarily pushy. Again, thank you to the associate who helped us find the cologne and brought it up front, you were great. But Rachel, maybe work on the approach with customers. I have came here a few times even during my past years here. I love how Ulta comes with $3.50 off coupon when I need to get some makeup essentials that I use everyday. Today, I got the nyx setting spray, la girl green corrector, and olehenriksen in the shade strawberry sorbet. I have bought a morphe foundation and the olehenriksen in the original scent and I love it & had to grab another scent. The employee is very nice and friendly. The store is very clean, organized, and spacious to walk around to find the makeup brands. There is a lot of parking better than the last location they were at before. I'm also hoping by the end of today I would get my points in the app. I would definitely come back here to stock on my makeup when I'm near the Huntington Beach area. read more

A few months ago, the sales girl, after I declined THREE TIMES to give her my number, slammed my product on the counter. Last week, a sales girl refused to provide me with a receipt, telling me I had to give her my phone number to get one. Total BS. This is clearly a store culture problem - or an Ulta problem - because I don't find this behavior so consistently anywhere else. New management is needed asap. Iv been coming to get my hair highlighted and cut by Dezi for the past year and half and I will never go to anyone else. She is so talented and experienced. I'm absolutely in love with my hair! My blonde highlights are perfectly blended--natural, dimensional, and they catch the light beautifully without looking streaky or brassy. It's that sun-kissed glow I've always wanted! This review is for the beauty service, provided by Summer K. My makeup artist cancelled the appointment two weeks before, and I was rushed into finding another. Unfortunately, everyone I contacted was not available. It was when I found out about Ulta Beauty Services. I booked the formal makeup, and was quoted to start at $60, with an additional $10 for eyelashes. The location called me a week prior to the appointment to confirm, which to me was quite far in advance to make a reminder. On the day of the appointment, I proceeded to the end of the Ulta store, to the Salon area. I was quickly greeted and led to Summer. I have to say that I booked her because of her impressive profile photo look. After describing the look I wanted, she got into it immediately. I appreciate the silence going on between us as I am not a chatty person. Summer really took her time to go into the detail and ensuring everything blended nicely. The letdown of this experience has to be the lack of choices. While I was able to describe the look and expectation, I wasn't given a chance to select the shades of colors (e.g., pink lipstick -- but what shade of pink). There was a huge trust that Summer would bring out the look I was after, and she did not disappointed me -- except the lip color. I must say it looks different under the indoor lighting versus the outdoor lighting. But it was an easy fix with a tissue to tone it down. The choice I could make was picking the lashes. I was surprised that these lashes are reusable! For services I received elsewhere, they usually trashed the box so I assumed they were one time lashes. Here at Ulta, I was informed that I could reuse the lashes up to whatever it stated -- that was why they gave me the box. At check out, I was told that the service -- before lashes, taxes and fees, was $70, which is $10 higher than expected. I understand the quote I received was "starting at," but I was not sure what was the criteria for the additional $10 -- maybe the artist status? I will definitely come back for future make up services provided by Summer! Highly recommend her for formal looks. read more

Once I was finished, I went to check out. The degree of rudeness from the cashier and her partner in crime was beyond me. To call them unprofessional would be an understatement. This is not the Ulta I'm used to so I'll continue to order online for delivery rather than go in, If I ever need to go in for last minute items, I'll drive to the surrounding Ulta's. My sister suggested I try Ulta beauty hair salon after I couldn't find someone to just do my hair correctly and the way I would like. I randomly made an appointment and was set with Breonna m. I'll tell you what it was the best thing that could ever happen. I was told I could never go blonde my hair was to dark or to long. I just didn't have the right hair stylist, but after coming to Breonna it was like we've known each other for years . She is the most genuine caring person not just a hairstylist a friend! I went over to Ulta last Monday to book a last minute appointment to have my hair and makeup done for my son's wedding today. I was grateful they were able to squeeze me in. When I arrived, I was told that I booked a hair appt for a flat iron and blow out curl (whatever that is), I told her no, I booked a messy bun or inverted ponytail with some volume. The person who booked me apparently didn't enter the info correctly. I have a lot of layers which is why I didn't want to try doing I myself. The gal who I had the appointment with must not have had much experience with what I wanted because she kept taking her work apart. I was open to suggestion and she told she recommended that she just curl my hair. I kept telling her multiple times that I wanted volume and she basically flattened my hair. I finally got so frustrated that I caved and said it looked fine because I wanted to move on, I already knew I was going home to fix it. Moving on to makeup, she was very experienced and said she loved doing wedding makeup. I showed her pictures of what I wanted. I also had her put my false eye lashes on because I didn't know how. The left eye was way off and my daughter had to re-apply it when I got home. The gal did not prime my eyelids or use concealer under my eyes. I paid $160 for hair and make up plus tip ($185 total) and went home to fix my pathetic hair and eyelash. read more

Stopped by this location recently to pick up my birthday freebie. For the month of May I was gifted the Bumble & Bumble heat protectant spray. I came in with my little pug and were nicely greeted by the staff. Once I got the register, the girl at the counter was very patient with me and made sure I had an account with Ulta. Not one asked is there something I can do for you? Are you looking for something? They moved to a new location I thought maybe they would, be more friendly totally opposite. They have not changed. I wish that a corporate person would do a mystery client to see exactly how horrible their customer service is. I purposely walked around almost every aisle to see if someone at least acknowledge my existence because I was actually looking for a product not one person did.
