Would not recommend booking an appointment with Shanti. She was nice but after I said I had an issue with how my hair turned out she got a real bad attitude. I ended up paying another $400 to get it fixed by a reputable hairstylist. I did forget to cancel my redo appointment with her (my hair was so damaged after she did it i didnt want to risk going back) and i got a voicemail saying if i wanted to still come in for my redo id have to pay. I want so much to like this store but it never fails. There is no one to assist around the store. The one time I got help 2 other associates interrupted and acted like I wasn't getting help. Then you get to the register where the cashier just ends the visit with lack of enthusiasm, friendliness, or even a greeting. I made a purchase on my birthday and the cashier showed me the gift and when I got to the car it was not placed in my bag. Visited last night and the cashier (different) didn't greet me didn't ask if I had a rewards account. I made a purchase that should have come with a free make up bag. It was my first time trying out the beauty salon and booked with Shanti, and she is just the most amazing, kind hearted & friendly person over all. She made my experience at the salon at ulta for the first time be a great experience. She was gentle, informative on the price and what she was doing I felt really comfortable on top of that she is professional and ask me what I wanted to go for, and really fixed my bold highlights into actual highlights of my hair and ever since then I've had so many compliments. I left feeling more confident with my hair than what it was before coming in. She knows what she is doing and has the skill set to show. Booked her again and will be a returning client here. Ari is amazing. I meant to write this review several months ago because she truly deserves it. I went into Ultra fully believing that I had damaged my hair beyond a fixable point and that the only solution i had left was to cut it extremely short. I wish I had pictures to show how my hair looked when i walked in that day. The whole problem started when i used a different type of bleach, some oil/ burning on my scalp type of bleach and completely over-toned my hair to a muddy gray color. it happened to be my birthday so I used a semi- color, like a dark lavender just so I was still able to go out that night... that color stayed in for like 3 days but I did love it so when it quickly faded back to the ugly mud gray i wanted to re-dye the same purple color but got the wrong one which was some vegan formula, bright pink/purple- it was horrible. Then we tried stripping the color out with ion color remover and It took a bunch of colors out but not one of the purple hues which turned green at the very last step of the removal process. .... basically my hair was so damaged, so dead, such a ridiculous green/ gray mud color. I literally cried and couldnt believe I didnt just go into the salon in the first place. basically, I had accepted my fate and went in to get it cut and whatever kind of miracle treatment they had and i was just going to let my hair be that ugly color. ARI thankfully realized why I said that and explained that I didnt need to cut it all off if it wasnt want i wanted. she did a little trim which shockingly flowed even with the crazy layers I have going on with my hair from all the broken off parts.. she did some treatment which made me leave the salon that day with completely different hair. the texture felt amazing, the look and feel of it was already a million times better and then a couple days later I went in and she was able to carefully strip the remaining mud color part out very easily and then toned my hair to a nice blonde color again. For how much money I spent ruining my hair, I spent only half as much at ultra fixing it. Ari really worked some magic and I couldnt be more grateful about it. read more

Worst Ulta ever! Customer service here is awful. No one greets you, and no one checks to see how you are doing. When you look for someone to help they act like they can't be bothered or they are short staffed. If an item is marked down or wrong they do not match prices or give you the discounted price. They just rudely tell you no and nothing they can do so you either buy it or don't and talk to you with attitude or sarcasm. If I ever need anything I'll go to Sephora or to another location where their customer service is better and they actually do what it takes to make their customers happy. read more

I went today to look for a overnight serum for my hair. I couldn't find a brand that I regularly use, so I asked the "stylist" he's the male with the weird hair that's parted with red hair dye. He didn't even make eye contact with me because he was on the computer doing who knows what instead of his job. He rudely responded with I don't even know what that brand is I've never even heard of it. He clearly didn't want to help me so I just walked away from him. There was a girl with curly blonde hair that I asked (she wasn't a stylist) that tried to at least help me. The only reason why I'm giving this spot 2 stars is because of her. He was also judging some poor girl about her hair routine, which I already feel that if you don't know what you're doing as it is how overwhelming this store can be. Im not typically one to get excited about writing a review for Ulta but after my experiences at other Ulta's and then stepping foot in this location, I felt the need to write a review. For the longest time, I have frequented the Ulta in Elk Grove because it was the most convenient location for me when I lived in both Lodi and Sacramento. When I moved to Galt it was also my go to place until the location opened in Lodi. I was so excited to finally get an Ulta in Lodi only to be sorely disappointed... seriously, it's the worst Ulta but that's another review. So I was in Manteca making a quick trip to the hospital down the road for work and need to stop in and get some Bare Minerals on my way back to Stockton. I saw this on my way in and decided to stop on my way out of town. I walked in the front door and was greeted by not 1, not 2 but 3 different people. As I made my way for the Bare Minerals section knowing exactly what I needed, I was asked by 3 different people if I needed help with anything, which I didn't. And of course they also had enough product so I didn't leave irritated that they didn't have what I needed like I have many times in the past at other locations. Then the check out, I have never NOT waiting in line forever at Ulta... seriously why do other locations never have enough people checking people out. But this was not the case for Manteca, it was a short line and I got through quickly. I have to say that of all the Ulta's I have been to throughout the central Valley and beyond, this is by far the best experience I have ever had at an Ulta. read more

Maggie/ Margarita- Does not know colors. I came in with golden blonde hair with an 1 inch of outgrowth and asked to do high and lowlights to blend my roots more. I showed her 5 different blondes that she could of worked with. She asked me if I needed to see the colors she was choosing and I said no you're the expert and you understand what I asked for. She said she was going to make my blond more grey to tone the gold and do lowlights with high gloss toning with some browns. I agreed. She asked if she could take a before picture. She used Shades EQ which I'm very familiar with and put it on with no foils in-between and said she will be back in 20 min. 40 minutes later she said oh let's rinse you. As I'm at the shampoo bowl she said it looks great and it will fade because it's a semi gloss. We got back to chair and says it looks great and will fade with washing. She cuts it like I asked and then starts drying. She asking me what I thought. I said it's too dark and that's not why I asked for. She said you agreed to me picking the colors. I did and I also showed you blonde hair colors not to be DARK. She turned my hair into an Ash and purple hair color. She said if she curled it I would see the different colors. WHAT THE HELL! I said it's purple she said grey. I went to front counter and asked for manager. She was great understood and I showed her the pictures and asked if that was grey. She said no it's purple. Summary to Maggie- I was a hair dresser for 18years and when you tell a client 1- the color will fade and be great that's code for you screwed up. 2- you need to curl hair to see the colors- you screwed up 3- you leave color on an extra 20 mins-you screwed up 4- Go back to coloring class See my first pic of me and 3 samples and my hair now after doing 2 stripping colors and with now deep conditioning read more

so twice a year i drive to ulta and spend around 600 to 800 to stock up on my items .(i live an hour and half away). During my shopping an employee named jessica kept making comments like lets check you out and even at one point grabbed my basket and took it to the front and just started ringing it up. She was rude and when she told me the total i said okay i would like to take a couple things out since it now was 1040.00. She then rolled her eyes and said we would have to run all this through again and the giftcards..... I never asked her to start ringing it up in the first place and secondly i said i needed to take a couple things out. I cant believe spending 1000 dollars and being treated like this. Im appalled i have been a customer for over six years and never had anything happen like this. Just want to let the owner know this employee is gunna lose you service because if she treats me that way i cant image how she is with others! I have NEVER had ANYONE ripe my basket out of my hands and take it to the front to decide that im leaving. You are opened till 9pm and i wasn't bothering anyone and now im considering even coming back. what poor service after getting home and going through it there were duplicate items so now i get to drive all the way from sonora and back because this rude employee was pushy, bossy and lazy since it was so hard for her to just start over. I never asked her to start ringing it up this was just crazy! i am a server i know what good costumer service is and this was FAR from it actually super disrespectful. I went to Ulta for my daughters prom make up. We were 20 minutes early and the person doing the make up was ready to begin. We showed him different looks all very simple and elegant and natural. I sat by my daughter, so I cannot see her face the entire time. She did not look in the mirror until she was finished. it was nothing like the picture. The colors were way different not even close. It was super heavy. Her lips were very uneven way heavy on the left side and light on the right side. I paid and tipped because my daughter said she liked it. As soon as we got in the car, she started crying and freaking out she doesn't wear make up, which is why she wanted a natural look, and she got purples! So now I'm over $80 out, and I had to go home and do my daughter's make up The last two pictures are her goal and what we left with is what we got! Absolutely nothing like the picture. I really want to keep this place a secret for myself, but for my hijabi sisters, this is the place you want to be! As a Muslim women who wears a hijab it's impossible for me to get my hair done at salons due to the fact that there are males present in the public setting, as well as male stylist . I called Ulta Manteca to see if they can accommodate my needs, and maybe cut and color my hair privately in the back. They didn't even hesitate and kindly understood. I wanted to make sure that who ever my stylist was, that she was comfortable. They did not disappoint!!! I felt so respected I can't even explain it. My stylist Andrea, was AMAZING!!!!!! Freaking talented, kind, and the sweetest. I just had a baby, and this angel made me feel like myself again and I can't thank her enough. The staff was so sweet and always made sure I was comfortable and always asked if they could come in. I specifically want to mention the male stylist Gustavo that was working that day. Thank you so much for respecting my religious beliefs and allowing me get the treatment I wanted, and accommodating my needs. I went into the salon to cut and style my hair for my engagement photos.... I was a little nervous going here because ... Well I don't know why... I was just nervous. Carissa greeted me and I already felt at ease. She offered me water and I gladly accepted. I had brought in my extensions and she cut my hair... Offered a gloss that I HIGHLY recommend, put my extensions in and did an AMAZING job with my style!!! As she was working with me she was teaching me step by step how to do it at home and speaking so highly of her staff!!! I have to put this place on blast.. I went there 3 weeks ago to get my highlights touched up.. I've always had great results with other locations so I assumed Manteca would be the same. Only to have to go back the next day for a correction, then still not satisfied and having to contact corporate to get the salon manager to contact me, schedule an appt and then have to reschedule and not see me until 3 weeks later.. so finally I see her today. Their solution for my hair being dark (even though I went in for a highlight touch up) and my horrible cut (I only asked for her to dust the ends) was to offer me a complimentary cut and 15% off my next highlight.... Uh no. So.. finally they agree to refund my service. Ok that works for me. Then the salon manager had to grab someone else who I can only assume is the general manager to do my refund. She is this rough-looking girl/woman and says to me, "by giving you this refund, we cannot book you again, but I'm sure that's fine with you..." just a super rude, snotty attitude. So after what I went thru she had the nerve to be so rude?!!! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER HAD. I have spent $1000s at Ulta and I will NEVER set foot in the Manteca location again. I made an appointment with Ryan, she didn't seem too excited to help me figure out what to do w my hair and immediately put another, probably, more seasoned person, Andrea (i think) in an uncomfortable position to do my hair ( quite literally talking about me in front of me and referring to me as "it"). Ryan kinda pressured Andrea to take me as a client. I tried to be patient and kind to them and showed them possible ideas to see if they could work with that..next time just say you cant / dont know how to tackle this and i'll be on my way. Andrea did her best but they both could tell they messed up my hair / i didn't like it. I still tipped for their effort but wont be going back again. Got my hair done here for my wedding and wanted an updo my stylist came in 15 minutes late and he said he couldn't put my hair into an updo because it's to short so all I got was curled hair which I could have easily done at home myself.
