Today, the ladies working there helped me purchase a Lancome longwear cream eyeshadow stick to replace my OLD Too Faced eye shadow stick that I'm about to finish and that has been discontinued for years. The 3 stars are for Vivian only from MAC. She did my makeup for a wedding I was attending and it was amazing. She asked me each step if I liked it. She changed anything I asked her to. She's one of the best artist I've works with. On the other hand the salon...I get my hair done a lot and I can already tell if I'm going to like it or not as soon as I see the artist and the way she ha does my hair. Last time I came here Kayla did my hair and it was perfect. She was not available so they gave me whoever was. I got Allison. As soon as she touched my hair I knew I wasn't going to like it. When working with hair you can't be intimated by it. Seemed like she was scared of hair. I hated my curls and the way it turned out. It looked like i could have done it myself. No volume so flat. I purchased a couple of items online and had it shipped to my home. One of the items was a Shea moisture deep conditioner and when it arrived there was liquid at the bottom of the jar. This stuff is normally very very thick so I decided to go to Ulta to do an even exchange. I went in the store went to the register and they got the product for me and start doing the even exchange. However their register tried charging me $0.04 for an even exchange. The cashier asked for manager help and instead of taking care of it for good customer service she argued with me and made me pay the $0.04. I'm not upset about paying the $0.04 although it's ridiculous, it is the poor customer service. I've done even exchange from online orders in store with a couple of other stores and if there was a price difference they would take care of it and not make me pay the difference. This is the only store that does. I've rather pay more at Sephora and get better service than come back to Ulta. read more

HAIR Color REVIEW. My rating of five stars is extremely well-deserved and awarded to Casey, this one's for you! I came to Ulta Friday, February 9th at approximately 5pm. I had just received the absolute worst dye job of my life at La Orchid Nail & Spa in Manteca. The hair stylist swore they had 20+ years experience. I trusted them but by no means, please, anyone make this costly and disastrous mistake again and simply go to ULTA. Ask for Casey! Casey took pity on my hair soul and saw me right away. He applied toner and made me an appointment for 10 am the next morning. I was there bright and early! Casey educated me on the incompetence of the La Orchid hair stylist and that I have grounds to notify the state board because lighter was left in my hair and was breaking off the tips of my hair. Casey's skill, patience, and compassion is truly one of a kind. He had a busy schedule Saturday, February 10th and all his clients applauded his insight and talent. I praised him multiple times and he was reassuring stating, "of course, we're not going to let you walk around looking awful". I will see you in 4 weeks my hair Godsend. I had my hair colored here last fall (around Sept 2016) by someone named Casey, a male. The experience was not the best, although cheaper (you get what you pay for I guess) than other salons. They were running behind when I got there, so I had to wait about 20-30 minutes. They were running behind because another employee did not show up, so they were trying to fill in for that hairdressers appts as well. There were two people working. Although they were overbooked, when receiving a phone call about ANOTHER customer wanting to come in, they accepted saying they would have to "make time." So once that customer got there, there were 4 total customers with 2 hairdressers bouncing from person to person making each of us wait at different times. But this is besides the point. I showed the hairdresser a picture of what I wanted done. The only difference I requested was that my hair be a really dark brown instead of a black color. During my consultation we discussed a color with the additional protective stuff, in addition to a small trim. I assumed the highlights would be added after the full color because it was dark with really light blonde highlights. However, after one all over color application he told me I was "done" and began curling my hair. No trim, no highlights, nothing. It also came out a LOT darker at my roots? My hair did not come out at all how I asked. When I got home I realized that although he did not trim my hair as discussed, I was STILL charged for it! read more

Got some Birthday money. So I splurged on myself today at Ulta Beauty. I got absolutely fantastic service there. The place was so slow that the staff wanted to kidnap me into doing a full makeover. But I don't have the time for a few hours to do so. Because I have a kid and my Hubby has to go to work a little later on today. But they surly made me feel warm and welcomed at the Manteca location. Went here for the first time to get my hair cut. I hadn't cut it in two years and looked today and Shanti had an appointment so I decided to give it a shot. She did exactly what I wanted. She isn't super talkative but neither am I so I was perfectly ok with just relaxing while she did her thing. I did the signature cut which comes with deep conditioning. My hair feels healthy and soft. She also gave me recommendations for shampoos to use with my hair type. Would definitely go back! read more

I'm only giving this store two stars because I have never been in an Ulta where I can walk pass FIVE different employees, stand next to one employee and not ONE of them said hello to me OR asked me if I needed help as I walked around three times looking for ColourPop. It wasn't until the young man in the hair department, washing hair asked me if I needed help. He pointed me towards ColourPop which was definitely not in eye site. About one month ago or so, I booked an appointment with a guy hairstylist by the name of Gustavo who didn't care how I wanted my hair to be styled ! I was explaining to him that I would like him to blow out my hair with a blow dryer and a thick brush straight down, but he avoided my requests and went ahead to dry my hair with curly iron/blowdryer. My hair was still feeling wet, so I again told him if he could use a blow dryer and a thick brush to dry my hair. By the time he was done I didn't like how he styled my hair! I was not happy that he had ignored my requests several times. So, when I went to pay for his services at the cash register, I told a woman that I was not going to tip him because I was not happy with his services. Apparently, I was told by another person today when I was trying to book with a different hair stylist that I am not allowed to book with them any longer! Is this how crazy our world is becoming that they can black list you for not tipping, when customers are not happy with their services. It is not fair to have to tip when you receive a poor service ! Today I met my new hair stylist Casey. He is nice, makes me laugh and fixed my uneven, dry hair. I had a cut and a shades EQ gloss done, and my hair looks so healthy now I feel ready to hit the boardroom and shatter the glass ceiling. The staff was incredibly inviting and made me feel welcome. This review is specifically directed towards a young lady who was waiting for the okay to clock out (I overheard her ask another employee for someone to check her out) on 03/07 around 2pm. I was about to leave the store after purchasing my items when I saw Billie Eilish's new perfume. I tried opening the bottle myself but it seemed to be a little stuck so I asked her if she could help open it.
