I always come out of Ulta a happy customer. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I went in yesterday for full coverage powder and a super cool woman (I feel terrible for forgetting her name!) Helped me match my awkward skin tone with ease. Her complements were genuine and her tips useful. Not to mention it was super busy yesterday, I was in and out in less than twenty five minutes, that including her help, my shopping around and the huge line. (Which was not too bad.) I wrote a review on the Benefit Brow Counter as well, but wanted to warn people to stay away from having Brenda do your eyebrows. I very specifically said I do not like thin eyebrows, and even said I've been trying to get them more grown in. Yet I am left with extremely thin eyebrows. The shape is fine but the overall look is awful. She's nice enough but clearly didn't listen to the words that came out of my mouth. When she asked if they were OK, I said yes and left. No reason to complain at that point, because it's not like she can do anything about it except make them look drawn on. I'm a makeup and comsetics junkie. Having said that, my expectations of a cosmetics store are high. I used to dislike ulta because of the limited selection and rude staff, but things have changed. I love the new benefit counter and all the other brands that are showing up. The girls who work at benefit do a great job with makeup. They are fun to talk to and very helpful. I love their attitude. There is one employee who makes me want to reach over the counter and shake her. She is the rudest person in the store. I do not know her name. I made my appointment with Angie well in advance, I told her exactly wanted done over the phone and she said it would be no problem. The day of my appointment I went in and sat down. Angie then said, "I don't think I will have time to do your hair" I told her it was ok to do what she could as far as lightening before dying it the color I wanted. Moments later she said she didn't have the color I wanted. I asked why she didn't tell me before I came in. She then responded, "I guess I didn't check." Perfect brows is something I've always strived for. For the longest however, I was using 3 different products at once to try to make them look remotely nice. I had never purchased an Anastasia product, because I was so intimidated by the application (even though we all know it's the way to go). Luckily, Miriam approached me as I was looking over the Anastasia brow pens, and pomades. She was such a sweat heart, and made me feel comfortable as I told her about the hassle I go through daily for brows and how I've always considered using Anastasia, but something would just make me so scared to purchase. She took her time in showing me how to apply the pomade step by step and even had me try my other brow on my own. I appreciated her encouragement in helping me successfully apply the product and made me feel comfortable in doing it on my own. Once they were both done, I felt so confident and happy to finally have beautiful brows I am NOW proud of. She even guided me in lining out my brows with concealer (something I'd NEVER done) and WOW, what a difference!!! I am so happy to have encountered her and recommend anyone to approach her. I went in there yesterday to buy some products and exchange a product that I have in the original packaging and literally used once (didn't like the color). I called in advance to ask if i can do an even exchange and was told yes. When I got there, the manager was so rude and wanted to up charge me for doing an even exchange. She said that was their policy even though on the phone that's not what i was told. I didn't even mind not being able to exchange but her Attitude was TERRIBLE. She literally was like "I'm the manager on duty" as if to tell me there's nothing I can do about it. I shop at Ulta a lot (different locations) but def not anymore. I am reviewing ulta salon. I got coupon for accent highlights, haircut and style for 60 $, so I made my appointment with Brittany. Highlights came up pretty nicely, but I WASN'T TOLD that I will have to pay extra 20 bucks for toner !!! Next, it took her maybe 7 minutes to cut my hair !!!!!!!! How this is possible ??? I have very thick, shoulder length hair, my hair stylist needs at least half an hour and then she is checking if everything is even, Brittany didn't bother to do that even when i told her that I am changing sides of my bangs from time to time !!! And of course my hair is uneven !!!! Next, the style - she didn't ask how I want my hair to be styled, she blow dried them and started using flat iron- oh boy, 5 year old would do better job. The back was straight, the side was curled - it looked awful !!!!!!!! I thought that they want to bring more costumers for offering this coupon, what a mistake, the worst wasted 80 $$$$ Don't make appointment with her'!!! read more

The employees of this location hate their jobs. I don't know what their problem is but this is the third or fourth time I've been here in two months and every time I visit, it's worse and worse. From what I see when I'm in the store, the employees are just standing around talking to each other - not fixing products, not helping customers. They do not like their jobs and it's obvious. I received help from a girl who nearly fell asleep while explaining products to me. When I went to the counter to inquire about a product, a snotty girl told me to get in line when I wasn't even ready to check out yet. I had to deduct a star for the half hour I stood walking around and staring at makeup in confusion. Finally, a very nice employee approached me to tell me she liked my hair. I thanked her and showed her what I was unhappy about with my makeup, and she quickly matched me up with an Urban Decay makeup artist who was able to help me find products that matched my skin type/ tone and showed me how to properly apply them. I was VERY pleased with her, and I told her my budget (which was $200) and she grabbed me the products that she thought I would need the most. I ditched one of the brushes at the register because my free gift was a similar brush, and my total came out to about $50 less than I expected. I left with all the products I needed, and my skin has improved significantly. I'm very happy with how helpful and not judgmental their staff was. I walked in desperate from a previous breakout and drugstore makeup running from the heat, and I left with a flawless looking face and the knowledge of how to apply my makeup properly. They were able to help and save me an expensive trip to a dermatologist. Definitely go in with a set budget or you'll end up spending much more than you planned for. Terrible terrible terrible customer service. This store believes greed is more important than providing fair customer service. I received a gift and had a gift receipt. I wanted to exchange a fragrance with a retail value of around $20 for the same type of item only a different scent. The one I had received was too sweet for me. Basically they don't want any returns or exchanges even at the holidays. The person who bought the gift used points and a discount and bought 2 items. They took the full amount off the item I was returning and would not apply the discounts to another selection. I didn't want a credit I wanted another fragrance that was more my style. For an item with a retail value of over $20 they only gave me a $5 credit. This is not right. They also wouldn't return the points to the person who bought the gift for me. The bright spot was the friendliness and kindness of the cashiers at the front as well as the cleanliness of the store. The incredibly WRONG policy has me NEVER again shopping at Ulta. The corporation doesn't even give store managers the authority to do what's right for best customer service. Ultra greed at Ulta! Perhaps it is best to exchange something without a receipt? Then perhaps an exchange would be permitted? Try this if you received a gift that you want to exchange. read more

they made me cry! The girls at this location have 0 knowledge and experience about the products and salon! went there 3 times (including the last time) just cuz it's close to my house. Went there yesterday to get a full facial wax done for the first time (for 30 dollars). I had to be at a friend's bridal shower at night and this was the only place that fit my schedule. I felt that the girl (june) who was doing the waxing was in a rush and sloppy. Towards the end I told her to do the area 'around my eyes' the girl went too close to my eyes which ended up burning and peeling about an inch of skin from both sides of my face. i didn't see it in the mirror right away thinking that it's normal. She put on a cooling gel... she charged me 30 dollard and I had to tip her 10 dollars. anyways I started shopping for something else and the pain became intense. I checked it in the mirror and saw the problem! the girl burnt my face... I talked to the manager (vanessa) who was reluctant to admitting the it was their fault. She pretty much put it on my shoulders-- "some people are sensitivie' and that they can't do anything about it" and offered me a refund excluding the tip. She made it seem like it wasn't a big deal! I had to cancel my plans for the night... and I am sure this will leave scars on my face. Manager (vanessa) was very unprofessional. She didn't apologize! and that made me cry... that at least acknowledged what you did was wrong!!!!! I have got it done from other places and never had any problem... this girl at Ulta applied hot wax and peeled it off and applied the wax on right away on the same area, didn't let it cool down and peeled it off which caused the skin to burn and peel! Never going to this place again and will recommend all of you to stop going there! They have no experience! read more

In the past I have gotten GREAT hair cuts at this salon as well as color! I went to a different location and had a horrific experience. I did not want to hold it against all the stylists at these salons so I decided to try it again. I got a great hair cut and color from a older stylist who had broken english. I returned about 6 months later for a new hair cut and the woman was #1 def. not as friendly as I remember her being and #2 I feel her unfriendliness was because I declined a color service. Ok now on to the horrible experience as I stated the stylist was kinda angry before she cut my hair due to me declining a color service. Half way through the hair cut she put her shears down and walked away with out saying a word. So now me and my fiance are sitting their like W.T.F where did she go?? Had my hair not have been halfway cut I def. wouldve left it proably wouldve turned out better had I left at this point. She finishes the cut portion and is moving on to the dry portion at this point she turns my chair around and faces me away from the mirror (this shouldve been a red flag). She blow dries my hair and wont let me really look at it..when I finally look past her into the mirror I comment on how extemely short the cut is and she tells me dont worry ur going on vacation....wtf does that mean???? Why would my worrying depend if im going on vacation or not?? She rushes me through the store and makes me pay for this sad excuse for a hairstyle it has now been 6 months and my hair is still not the same. This place isnt suited for free hair cuts! read more

I hate going to this Ulta Beauty. I came here desperate for foundation that matched my skin more due to lack of sun, my skin is much lighter than the foundation I have been using. The representative asked me if I needed assistance, which I said yes and explained to her what I was looking for. She went straight to the NARS section and picked out a few colors to swatch on my neck. We both agreed on NARS Barcelona was the perfect match. After checking that they were out of stock and she was unsure when they would get more in. She tries to sale me on the next shade darker. I asked her well maybe there's a different brand that has my color... she stood there hesitant to find another brand for me. Finally she went to the Lancôme section and of course my color match is out of stock. I didn't like that she was constantly pushing another shade on me just because it's in stock. And why she seemed so unwilling to help me find my shade in different brands. A store full of make up and you insist on me getting NARS. I decided go looking myself and found my perfect shade in a more affordable price. read more

When I went to Ulta I bought a matte powder, under eye dark circle concealer, and nail polish. The store is very organized and it is very easy to find what you want. I found what I needed in less than 10 minutes. The line was very short and I would think it was because the cash registers were working fast and efficient. The associates are all very polite and happy. It really makes the experience just that much better. I was in and out of the store within 15 minutes or less. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS ULTA!!! The manager with the blonde hair and always wears dark lipstick is super rude. She doesn't know how to train her employees. I over heard her the other day tell a girl who was only the second day on the register who (told her that) that she should know all this stuff in a mean attitude instead of uplifting her and simply telling her these are the things to remember. The girl looked nervous and scared which isn't the type of confidence employees should have. I asked her if I could speak to the general manager Stacy who I've spoken to before and she said she was one of the managers and she could assist me I told her politely I would like to speak to a GENERAL manager and she said in a attitude way that Stacy wasn't here didn't even bother to ask to leave a message when she will be around or what time to call. I've never seen a company like this. It gets worse in this store! Another occasion on Black Friday there was a manager named Danielle I see her walking around with an ulta bag to put your purchases in, they were sold out of a product my daughter wanted and I saw her put one in the bag. I told her thank god can I have that last one because I thought she was just doing something work related and she told me she was off and that she was shopping and apologized. In my company my employees are not allowed to shop till after shift and not if a customer wants it they get it first being there paying full price. Watching her I saw she put the bag full of stuff behind the register saving it and continued on with her shift! That item she had would've made my daughter happy or anyone else in that store because everyone was upset it sold out yet she kept it for herself or saved it for later. I go up to the register and one employee takes the bag Im assuming thinking it's stuff to stock back up and Danielle runs back saying NO NO NO not that bag don't touch that bag I'm having my man come and buy this later so after that I decided to not ever come in this store again. They're just rude and greedy people I've talked to Stacy before she's a very nice person and I'm sure if she knew how many upset customers leave her store those two managers Danielle and the other girl with blonde hair would not be there. I never have good experience at this particular store. It`s always hard to find someone who can help you find products. And the employees seem to be annoyed with your questions and at every pause that you make they are in a rush to leave you, whether or not you`ve been helped. Of course, some of them are friendly and helpful,but I feel that the majority aren`t. It`s a struggle to look for a product when you don`t know where it`s located, but it also is if you have to look for help. Not to mention that when there is a mistake on your receipt employees insist that you are at fault, not them, when it`s clear math that some thing don`t add up and it has to be the case that they either did not apply a certain coupon or your refund did not go in full, but they always have to argue and make you look stupid. read more

This is a review of the Ulta Salon. I would first like to say that the girl who actually worked on my hair was very nice and friendly. I have no complaints there. The problem was I seemed to be her very first Kera Straight customer and noone told me. She actually had the instructions out at one point. She also didn't wash the product out of my hair completely before drying it so I had to rewash it when I got home. And lastly, she sent me on my way with no instructions whatsoever. You're suppose to use a special shampoo and I have no idea if that had anything to do with it BUT the next few times I washed my hair the smeill was horrendous (not exaggerating). It's now been a week and a half and the smell is just starting to fade. read more

Very unprofessional staff. Every time I come in here with my friend no one cares to offer helpful service. The workers need an attitude adjustment. They lied straight to my friends face about not giving out Clinique samples. The worker (a blonde girl) claimed that Clinique no longer sends in jars for samples. Right after she said that we found a jar for samples. Every Clinique counter always has a jar for samples of their product, and they are labeled Clique not Ulta. It is there provided by Clinique for a reason. What if someone has an allergic reaction to their products? Some snarky employee doesn't give a sample maybe because she is simply too lazy. What if that person has a bad reaction? Ulta, please take care of this issue because someone's health can end up on the line and that just sounds like an easy lawsuit. I tell all my friends and family not to come to this Ulta location. Sephora is much more helpful. Until Ulta deals with the attitude of their employees I don't think this company deserves a dime of my money. Thanks for reading. read more

I generally love going to Ulta. This is not a review on Ulta itself but this specific location was awful. I got my hair cut there and the lady was SO RUDE to me. This is the second time that this has happened. The salon people REALLY lack customer service and manners. My hair isn't even on each side. I was asked what I wanted done to my hair and while I was trying to explain what I needed done, the hair stylist was talking to her co-worker and constantly interrupting me. Then, when she was blowdrying my hair, she didn't use a brush. Usually that is common but they are a little more gentle. The hair stylist was ripping my hair out and pulling my head back and she could tell I was uncomfortable and continued to talk with people that passed and her co-workers. The whole time she was talking to other people and at times stopped working on my hair to chat. She even said a lot of inappropriate things that was not professional at all. This experience was not worth the 45 dollars that I paid. I will not be going to this location ever again after that experience read more
