After a terrible experience at the Ulta in Palm Springs. I was offered an experience to come back and give Ulta a try (hair/makeup) but this location. GIO IS AMAZING ! Called to find my fav perfumes, girl on the phone was very helpful, even listed off the sizes and prices. Went in and although some of the men working inside were very stand offish, even rolled their eyes at me, the women working there walked up to me .. eventually, and helped me. I don't like coming into a store and being treated weird . Not sure if my skin color translated into me going to steal or damage something?? I honestly can't understand, I even audibly said "excuse me, I need help finding something" of which the men just moved down some isles away from me. But I did actually see them greet a customer who walked in a helped them. Gross. Please understand all money spends the same. 2 stars for the woman on the phone and the one who actually helped me and 1 star for my perfumes! Wish I had read the reviews before I signed up for a makeup lesson. I just needed some every day make up as I am a senior citizen. The lesson only included concealer and make up,( which only enhanced my wrinkles ) and eye brows. The brows were good. I bought the pencil. I asked about eye shadow and Art said it wasn't included. No instructions as to what she had done or how to do any thing. I hadn't learned a thing and felt I had wasted my money. I will go elsewhere in the future. read more

I called them for over an hour to inquire about a certain cosmetic product, and nobody ever picked up the phones. I ended up taking my chances and driving 45 min to this location and alas, they don't carry the Lancôme product I'm looking for and the retail associate tried to talk me into buying a product that was a completely different shade than what I was looking for. I don't know, didn't really have the greatest experience and a lot of this drama could've been avoided by simply answering their phones. They had two customers inside the store when I arrived. I just went their where the manager told me she was going to call the police on me, because my voice went up. I am a disabled senior, and it was hard for me to go back to the store. WHY was I treated like I was trying to pull something over on them. I just wanted my lipstick, or, for it to be taken off my $426.16 bill. Had a decent experience until my boyfriend and I were checking out. The cashier, Kayla, assumed that my boyfriend and I didn't understand Spanish (more so my boyfriend) and proceeded to look at us, look at her coworker, and then talk crap about us, how we looked ratchet, dirty, weird, and f--ked up. I stopped in at Ultra this past week. I was looking for No7 products. They had a pretty sparse amount in their skincare line. I did find what I wanted and had sticker shock! $24 for a tiny cream to erase dark circles under the eye. It works ok. Its nice to have an associate help you, but hovering over me is kind of creepy. Twice I had to say, THANK YOU" In other words ARE YOU ON COMMISSION? I need time to read label's before I decide. I'm in a mobility scooter. I can assure you if I was going to try for a 10 finger discount you would be able to nab me... Ultra does have an extended amount of cosmetics, but warning, if your looking for Mabeline, etc. Check Walmart first. You will save money. Save Ultra for the higher priced items. IE: Target has a small selection of No7 but its cosmetics, no skin care. I also wish Ultra carried Origens. Nope. Perhaps Sephora might have it, or go to the brick and mortar on El Paso. read more

Alissa at Ulta Beauty not only cut my hair and tried to fix the dryness of the bleach I got from someone else, but I went to her a month later for some lowlights and root touch up and it was al great! I'm disappointed in the customer service at this location. Took my wife to make some purchases and wanted to use a coupon for $3.50 off when you purchase more than $15 of merchandise. We spent more than $15 and the manager said no we couldn't use it because it excludes some brands of Chanel. First it says "some", however the manager couldn't provide a list of what "some" of the brands of Chanel were excluded. She just said it means all. It wasn't even on the excluded list. I feel disappointed that the manager couldn't honor this coupon for $3.50. It's not like we're asking for $50 off coupon. And I feel like she didn't have good evidence to support her decision. Let me preface this review with letting you know that I actually am a hairstylist, I own a salon in San Diego. I was visiting from out of town and decided that I wanted to treat myself to a blow out and makeup. I scheduled a blow out and makeup at 430, they close at 6 for the holiday. It was made very clear that they were all looking forward to getting off early. First the hair, an older blonde woman did the blow out. She was nice enough but not professional, stopping to 'talk shop' with other employees. She asked me if I wanted to curl my hair also, I said sure like a 'beachy wave', I also used the words 'kink' and 'bend' which seemed to confuse her. Which made me realize she isn't familiar with modern styling. For those who don't know a kink or a bend is where you only curl the mid shaft (think Kristin Cavallari). So onto the shampoo, the stylist was EXTREMELY rough with me even with my persistent flinching, she literally grabbed my hair at the base and yanked it more times than I could count, so much for the relaxing shampoo. Then to the blow dry, she put a bunch of cheap horrible smelling products in my hair, she is again very rough, and continues to tell me that they are leaving early. Blowout was mediocre at best but I thought hey, its getting curled anyway. She asked again about curls so I showed her a picture. Everything about how she curled it was wrong, too big of barrel of curling iron (probably to save time), the direction she held the iron, it was all awful. I didn't complain because I hoped the end result would work, we all have different techniques so I went with it. The end result was zero volume on top and just an awkward wave at the bottom. Then she grabbed some wax type product and grabbed my head at the base and ran it up all the way though my hair, resulting in my fine hair looking like an absolute rat's nest. I moved the part to try to get some lift and tried to form it best I could. It looked "ok" at that point so then she put hairspray, well the hairspray was heavy and thick and hard as a rock so my hair again looked like a rat's nest, and certainly nothing like my picture. I had to keep messing with it to smooth it out and she goes "So you didn't really want curls?" Lol yes I did, just not this! The products were awful and the smell lasted for hours (like cheap cologne). In the end it was clear she hadn't updated her training in a while and was in a hurry. Everything she did was very 'old school', add to that she made clear she wanted to leave and it was just awful. Now a separate lady did my makeup. Firstly she asked me for a picture. I have dark skin so I showed her a picture of a model that was bronze and shimmery and sexy. What I got was caked on white ghostly nothingness. She started with a primer that felt good on, but another employee walked by and called it "sticky", she turned out to be right. The stylist applied the foundation with those cheap sponges from a drug store, not one of the many brushes in the store. She started applying to one check and said the color was too light so she went to get a different color. Instead of wiping off the previous color she went on applying the new color right over it. I could see things were looking funky but I decided to wait for the end result since it can be a process, well about 10 minutes later she's like 'ok! Im going to have you curl your lashes', like she was done. Disappointed I was like ok... she hands me a hand mirror and I get a closer look and oh my God. It looks like spackle! It was SO clumpy and uneven, I sat in shock. I looked totally pale, no contouring, no blush, weird yellow eyeshadow, no liner, no nothing... just a pale spackled face. Now I've had enough, to spend $100 to walk out looking horrible. I decided I was done, I felt bad for the "makeup artist" so I told her you know what, this isn't working for me. I showed her the clumps and she tried to blend it but it wasn't working, she said when she sets it it will look better, um no, it needs to look nice before you set it. She said ok I'll get wipes and we will start over and I felt SOAWKWARD but I did not want to sit there and do it all over again. I said no thank you I'll pay you for your time but I don't want to. So she stomps off to get wipes, hands me one, I wipe off the mess and she hands me the bill... full price! Excuse me!? I went to the front and told the "manager" I'm not paying for makeup, period. I showed her pictures, she agreed it was not even close to what I was requesting (duh!) I did tell her I wanted to leave the girl a generous tip for her time and because I felt bad hurting her feelings. So I did, I left her a GENEROUS tip but it was pulling teeth to get the manager to remove the makeup from the bill. No thank you Ulta. read more

Stocking my PS home with bath necessities: shampoo/conditioner, soaps, hairbrushes, dryer, etc. Staff were incredibly helpful, and the selection at this location is vast. I was in need of a good shampoo line, so I spoke with their hair specialists and we settled on the Alterna Caviar shampoo line. So far so great... Picked up round brushes of different sizes (by drybar), the DryBar hairdryer (which is my tried and true hair drier in Chicago), leave-in hair conditioner by Living Proof, and Ordinary serum.
