This place is terrible. From the workers to ESPECIALLY the manager. From the moment I walked into the store I felt judged. I had a lady ask me if I need help, I said no. She kept walking around me and starring at me. As if I couldn't afford the stuff there. I'm freakin platinum and have the entire store in my house and to be treated like this??? I then buy two opi infinite shine nail polish. They're on sale for 25% off, they don't believe me. Send a worker to check, I was right. Manager needs to come approve it. Manager comes and she's like doubting her two coworkers because she doesn't believe they're on sale. She puts me on hold again to double check the price. Wtf?? If your employer tells you there's a big sign with the discount why would you not believe them? I just left without purchasing. I'll take my money to Sephora or Sally's for the Polish. read more

I got my hair colored here. After a few hours and a lot of paste, it came out great. Had I known how fast the color would lighten up, I would have went a shade darker. This place charged me an extra $15 because I have thick hair and they used more than the normal amount of hair color (lame). read more

Today I went to Ulta salon to get a color correction. My hair was an absolute mess when I walked in there. Gisele, a master stylist took the time to do a 15 minute consultation with me and we went over everything from the messed up color to the choppy uneven haircut. Right away I knew that she was very knowledgeable about hair. It only took her two hours to fix my color and throw some highlights and she cleaned up my haircut without taking too much off. The staff here were particularly helpful. I normally don't review this type of store, but the sales person that helped me really knew her products and made great recommendations. I've been meaning to write this review for a couple months, so I apologize for the delay. A couple months back, I had scheduled an appointment to have my hair done with the Promenade location for my brother's wedding. I called a week in advance and was assured of my reservation. I showed up on the morning at the Promenade and somehow they had scheduled my appointment under another person's name and the receptionist made no attempts to help rectify the problem. Obviously I was upset and I even had to ask the man at the counter for phone numbers to other locations. He didn't even offer to help find an opening elsewhere. The first place I called was Desert Ridge Ulta and the receptionist immediately sensed my frustration and offered to get me in to have my hair done. I drove to Desert Ridge and when I walked in the door, the staff recognized I was that caller and they set right out to have me ready to go. My day would have been RUINED if this salon hadn't stepped up and helped me out. My hair and makeup looked GORGEOUS and I will always shop this location. read more

OMG!!! This is my worse experience with Ulta beauty at 12867 N Tatum Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85032... I had an appointment with Kristi... So, first she did my haircut. I was scheduled for 1 hour appointment. She did very mediocre job for 35 minutes tried to pull out my hair when she brushed my hair. Secondly, I had the gel nail service with her. It looks like Kristi had not been trained to do this. My 5 years old nephew can do more accurate job. Finally, she gave me a bill for $90. Is this fair, Ulta beauty? read more

Ugh this place!!!! I love ulta, but have now come to the conclusion I need to order it all online to avoid the staff. I appreciate the fact that they ask if I need help(A LOT), I don't appreciate them trying to convince me to use other makeup, it gets ridiculously salesy. I went in there to buy new mascara, foundation, eye liner, and highlighter. I use too face foundation and absolutely love it. I couldn't find my shade in stock so I asked one of the girls to please check in the back, while I was waiting another associate tried to talk me out of the foundation saying she heard from friends that it makes their face orange and she would like to show me better options. I told her no thank you, I liked my foundation. The second girl returned to tell me they were out of stock but she would love to show me some other great foundations. UGH!!! I said no this is the only one I prefer and both girls just stared at me. Finally I said I guess I'll try another ulta and hopefully they will have it. The blank faced girls continued to stare. So I set down all the merchandise I was going to purchase, left, and bought it all online. I like to go into the store to find other products like blush and mascara but I will be hesitant to ever return to an ulta store as it seems I have this experience at most of them. read more

I had the best experience yesterday with Missy, a clinique specialist. I went in to get a couple items and had not used clinique in a while, I had been researching best anti-aging creams and clinique was on the top of the list. My boyfriend was with me and it felt like I was pretty woman, he said he was buying and kept asking me if I needed various products and Missy would show, explain and demonstrate each product, from cleansing, moisturizing, hydrating spray to make-up. I wanted a sparkly lipstick and she took me to another area of ULTA and told me that the lipstick would stay on until you use a special remover, I woke up this morning and it is still on my lips. I used all the products today and she was spot on about everything. She is passionate about her job and very knowledgable. She was not pushy about any products, which means alot to me. I hope Ulta and Clinique know what a GEM Missy is. Thank you Missy for such a great experience. read more

Lindsay is absolutely phenomenal and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist in the Phoenix area who will surely do an exceptional job on their hair! My mom, sisters, and I have been going to Lindsay for hair services since we moved to the valley about 2 years ago and since the beginning, we've been nothing but impressed with Lindsay's quality of service, knowledge about everything and anything hair related, as well as just love Lindsay as a person. She does something different for each of us ranging from overall color to baylage or just a hair cut. Personally, I see Lindsay for cut, style, and highlights, and the blonde color I'm looking for always turns out remarkable with no signs of damage when I leave the salon. It's very apparent that she really cares and takes the time to do a great job on each of her customers without taking any short cuts or doing anything that she doesn't have evidence supporting that it will benefit your hair. If you ask her a question about anything hair related, she is extremely knowledgable and has very educated reasoning behind her answers to your questions and why she recommends certain products or does certain things when styling your hair. Anything she's recommended to us for products or ways to promote healthy hair has worked and I know I can always trust that she's up to date on the most recent developments for hair care. I was not thrilled with my recent salon experience at Ulta. I have been to the salon there a few times, and each time has been progressively worse. This was my last one. I scheduled an appointment with Jen for a haircut. I had never used her before, but she had a time slot open during my schedule so I took it. I was trying something new, and getting bangs. I showed pictures, and was pretty clear in what I wanted - which was long, side swept bangs and long layers. That is not what I got. My bangs were cut too short, so now I have bangs straight across and not side swept. I was told because my hair is not damaged (I've never dyed it) my hair won't look like the pictures I showed, or stay in the position I want. Too bad I was told this after my hair was already cut. When I asked her to try to fix it, she told me to "go home and play with it" and pretty much ushered me out the door. I thought I was paying the experienced hair dresser at the salon to "play with it"... but hair grows back, andI'll be looking for a new place to cut it when it does. read more

DO NOT !!! have your hair color done by jen in the salon in ulta in desert ridge she is a colorist went to her for my roots that was fine... went back for color and highlites ....she told me to bring a picture...so i did...of a light brown with golden highlites..also my hair is a light auburn or was....she made my hair a dull dark brown black ...how could you be a colorist she highlited my hair first then she did my roots second so if you pick up my hair you will see some very faded looking stripes underneath..that cost me 215.00 dollars. also when i complained... i got the blank stare look so now i have to wait months before i can fix this... thank you ulta you will never see me again or any one else that knows me . read more

Writing today as a former employee of Ulta. Never in my life have I ever felt so disrespected and violated in any work environment. Most of the management/staff treated me well but I felt I had to be cautious anytime I would talk to another employee on the floor. I had been previously warned to not apply at Ulta because the work environment is so hostile and basically a place for "mean girls" to gossip and stab you in the back any chance they can get. I personally have never had so many stories fabricated about me in a work place before. Also, the management never had one answer to a question so I would constantly have to go to different people to get 10 different answers. They ran around like headless hens everyday, they constantly talked down to me and made me feel like I wasn't good enough to work in their location and I was never happy to greet selective management walking into work everyday. After working their for 6 months I am disgusted in how they operate their store and will never be returning to another Ulta. read more
