This review if for the salon. Went to get tinsel done 2 days ago, and they are all already coming out. I understand they use the beads because they are easier but they man, never getting beaded ones ever again. Tinsel is cheap anyways so it's not that much of a loss, but was really hoping they would last more than 2 days. If you want to get tinsel go to a real salon that does not use beads, and tyes them on instead! read more

I have honestly never felt more uncomfortable shopping than I did the other day. I went into the store with a simple game plan. I needed a contour stick and dry shampoo. I knew exactly which brands I wanted and didn't need any assistance. When an associate first offered to help, I politely declined. My friend then asked where the brand we were looking for was, so the associate pointed us in the right direction and asked again if we needed anything else. I again said no. From that point on, the associate continued following us throughout the store, checking in repeatedly and even asking if I found what I needed from NYX. At one point, I also heard her on the walkie-talkie asking if they could see the cameras. Then another associate asked if we needed help. In total, four different associates approached us to offer assistance while other customers were free to browse without being interrupted. The associate who initially helped us never really left our side until we checked out. Maybe they were genuinely trying to provide excellent customer service, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, it certainly didn't feel that way, especially when other customers who appeared different from us weren't receiving the same level of attention. The experience made me extremely uncomfortable, and I ended up cutting my shopping trip short. Whether intentional or not, the level of scrutiny I felt while simply trying to shop was disappointing and left me feeling unwelcome. read more

I ordered Shampoo online, paid and put I'd pick it up. I couldn't go on Sunday and asked my grandson (he is the one with curley hair, it's for him) to pick up on Monday. I sent him a screen shot from my iphone email advising him to show this to them if its a problem, bc I put I'd pick up. Well he drove all the way to Ulta (he didn't want to do this, believe me, he's 18). He calls me telling me they wouldn't give him the Shampoo, I asked if he showed the the screen shot of the order and explained I couldn't pu. He said yes, and it went to a couple of people in the store, they all said NO. I asked him to hand his phone over to the associate so I can clear things up, he said he was driving away, he didn't feel confortable pushing the issue (again he's 18) . So now I get in my car and drive all the way to Ulta, got the shampoo and asked the young lady why they couldn't just call me, asked questions to make sure it's me and hand him over the shampoo???? Why did I have to drive all the way to the store ??? She explained they can't hand it over to anyone who isn't on the pu list, I then said, it's Shampoo, not a $3000.00 lap top, they really should try harder on the customer service part of this. I paid over $60.00 for a bottle of shampoo and received ZERO customer service. I shop there a lot, even had his hair cut at the salon (way over rated by the way, very expensive). When you charge a lot you need to try harder to make your customers happy. NOT happy, all this over a bottle of Shampoo, really?? What 18 yr is trying to get over on a bottle of Shampoo, a lil common sense and customer service goes a long way, sometimes you need to think, not everything is black and white. I came into Ulta on my birthday and we are ready to SHOP! My daughter and I started on the designer makeups on the right side as you walk in. We got some Tarte Primer! Supergoop spf 50! Benefit bronzer, blush and highlight! Bare Minerals eye shadow! We moved into the purfumes and I got Carolina Herrera Good Girl Blush Elixir! ... we obviously didn't hold back, lol We made our way to the DryBar products... MUST BUY ALERT!!! **As for the winning product... that would be **Grande Lash MD. It is a lash enhancing serum **that actually works! It helps your lashes **GROW!! The staff today was so helpful. I did but a few products based on their recommendations. Upon checkout, some of the products I bought qualified for a free gifts! Not to mention, I got a birthday gift, too!! On 4/17/26 I had a really disappointing experience. The associates were not only rude, but made me feel like my questions were a bother and not worth their time. Several employees were gathered at the front chatting, and it felt like I was interrupting just by asking for help. When I did receive assistance, it came across as condescending and dismissive. As a customer, I expect a basic level of respect especially when I'm coming in looking for guidance. Instead of feeling helped by "experts," I left second guessing myself and feeling discouraged. I usually shop here because it's within walking distance during my lunch break, but this experience makes me consider going to Sephora instead. It may be a bit more expensive, but at least customers are treated with respect. Ulta, please be more mindful of who you hire and how your team interacts with customers. We're spending our hard earned money and deserve to be treated better. read more

Incredibly disappointing experience on 4/5 3:30pm. I came in bare faced and excited to try a find a new foundation and it took over 20 minutes for someone to ask if i needed help, which wasn't a problem because I figured I could ask when I was ready. I did have a question for the associate when the time came and her response to a product being out of stock was weirdly rude and condescending for whichever reason? Shortly after I left and the employees were gathered around the entrance and the same associate was loudly complaining to them about customers who waste their time. Unfortunately, I cannot leave more than two star review for this location. I arrived on a weekday in the early afternoon. I was asking for assistance in regards to some perfume. The customer service rep seemed very agitated, and had no knowledge of the line of perfume that they carry. I asked if she could check on a product for me, and she never returned when I asked the another associate, what happened to my customer service rep, she stated "she just left to go on lunch" i'll take my business elsewhere moving forward. read more

Upon checkout the cashier never mentioned my birthday rewards so I had to inquire about it. Then she couldn't help me generate the various discounts I could have used so I ended up going without the extra bonus points or the additional discount I had available. I contacted Ulta's customer service after I left (hoping they could apply these things retroactively) and they were of no help either! First they told me that I would have to go back to the store to take it up with them and then she told me that she would let the store know and they would reach out to me. I haven't heard a word from them. Which is just as well because this made me officially jump ship to their competitor. All of the poor reviews make sense now. Was followed around the store by an employee . Just because someone is wearing work clothes and has messy hair doesn't mean they are trying to shop lift ! I'm a 55 yr old mom, my older daughter was with me and I asked her if she noticed it and she said yes. I went to a section that has samples of a certain product to use so I sprayed a little bit of the sample . next thing I know the lady comes and goes over there and looks at the area that I was at to make sure the sample bottle is still there. Placed a $230 order for pick-up right before my vacation but wasn't able to get to the store before my flight. I looked online and they say "you'll have 5 days to pick-up your order. If you can't make it, we'll cancel your order and you won't be charged." I decided to let it expire since I was busy on vacation and that was that. I go to check today to make sure my refund was processed, and I see that my order was marked as picked up before the store even opened that day. My credit card was charged and I had to jump through hoops to get a refund from customer service. Just WOW!! I haven't been into an Ulta & been this blown away in a longtime. Not only has this location improved the testers, the cleanliness, the employee power load, but also the product lines. I had help in every which direction with so many questions answered, assistance & even color matched. This location has made some huge improvements & ALL for the VERY BEST! Not only are they caring for customers again but to add Dior, Channel, Estée Lauder, Charlotte Tillberry, & Hourglass but also many Korean skincare lines. The tester overhaul is INCREDIBLE, not just with high end brands but also to the NYX & Morphe lines. So very helpful when shopping all across the store. Tissues, sponges, qtips available from both sides of the store. I love more than anything seeing diverse ages of employees. Some with more natural makeup & some with full glam. It's helpful & important to have the variety within a massive cosmetic company & showcasing all beauty & all ages. Keep up the great job Roseville Ulta, the improvements are noticed read more

The store could not find a code for displayed items on sale. Told us the only way to complete the sale was to order the product on line and come back "later" to pick it up. Since they were closing in 20 minutes i was worried we wpuld have to wait until tomorrow. But the person wanting to by these items as a gift has to get on a plane tonight. Amy was amazing. I went in for a pick up order, the lady first couldn't find my order for ten minutes because I guess I have 2 last names and it was hard to find. However i wanted to return my order. Since I bought the same items at a closer location and wanted my refund. The lady said I had to go back in line to return it, there was only one other cashier helping another customer out and no one else in line so I was super confused on why she couldn't just help me. But I went back in line while she talked to her coworkers. She had the same cashier that was helping the other customer help me and tell me that they don't allow returns and I have to wait a couple days, "to get the best price" I was super confused, again, since these are items I have already purchased. Couldn't believe I waited in line to just be told that. But I said thank you nicely and left. Update: I go in today, to do my return, and the lady tells me that is completely false. I came here today after going to Best Buy. I am in dire need of a new mascara since the ones I have at home are beyond dry. The staff working today were very helpful. Very friendly. I need to be color match since my favorite foundation is now different and oxidizes a little bit so I decided to come here today and I didn't decide on a foundation today, but I did leave with the color match and a new favorite blush and mascara. I found a coupon on my phone which they should've honored, but according to the rude Ulta manager, the prestige items are not included, which I said it should say that on there and she makes a comment with a bitchy attitude it does what's wrong with these managers nowadays that they can't be more friendlier. It's just common sense. You should just say it doesn't show that on their butt on it today is what she should've done not make a little under the rude comments it's uncalled for and most of all it's uncomfortable. The ladies working in the make up area were very friendly very helpful very knowledgeable. I am glad I was able to leave with a sample today and not have to buy anything. This helps that way I could use it for a few days and if I like it, I will come back and purchase it. This establishment is very large. They have very different brand affordable make up and they have affordable shampoos as well one of my favorite places to shop at even with the attitude I received today from the manager definitely a place for everyone. They definitely have something for everyone. Great place management needs improvement. If you have not gone to Ulta then you should check out what items they have on ulta.com to see if they might have something that you would like thanks Ulta for helping me find a foundation that I'm going to try hopefully it'll be my go to. I've been going to this location for over 3yrs,3 days ago was my last straw,I understand things happen but I scheduled a hair appointment,on the night before my hair appointment I was called and told the appointment had to be cancelled bcuz my stylist was sick,ok,not even 24hrs before my scheduled appointment but I digress,I tried to get in for the following day or days after no slots were available until after the first week of January,coincidence maybe but I've had my appointments moved up or delayed by an hour,I'm pretty forgiving but this sent me over the edge,I will no longer have my time wasted or my hard earned money taken!!Attached is the call log of the night and time I was called and my texts of my scheduled and cancelled appointments,this isn't a one time situation as I explained but it was the straw that broke the camel's back in better terms..It's just coincidence that it's going into the new year and I had to schedule my appointment the way I did bcuz the stylist was on vacation prior or I would have scheduled earlier but I'm disappointed to say the least,I won't be taking my business to any Ulta salon moving forward...I most likely will do my shopping online or in another business...This is just my experience but if you want honesty and transparency you will get it from me..Hope this helps others read more

I rarely leave bad reviews, but how many bad experiences I've had here I feel like it's necessary. I love ulta, but this Roseville location has the WORST customer service. I Can never find anyone for questions. They always have at least one wrong sign up for a sale item I buy and get irritated with me. I wanted a powder dry shampoo and it was the LAST ONE but clearly used (not full with powder on the outside of it), they told me I can buy it full price or put it back. The last straw was when I bought a travel perfume, but when I took it out of the box at home the next day is was empty. I took it back the next day (TWO days after purchasing) and they told me there's nothing they can do. I hate this location and will go anywhere else before here. Well... I was very disappointed to say the least. I booked an appointment online which was helpful and when I walked in I asked for curtain bangs with layers with my stylist Rachel Lopez. The curtain bangs I wanted were SUPPOSED to sweep the side of my face. I ended up getting normal bangs. To make it worse the bangs I didn't ask for in the first place were cut to short also so they couldn't even lay on the forehead if wanted. The bangs were cut choppy and thick as well. The stylist didn't know how to style the messed up hair after so the bangs stuck out when I had somewhere to be after. I was very dissatisfied with the hair cut. I believe it was the hair stylist not understanding what I wanted. I wish this upon no one and I do not recommend. read more

Poor customer service. Items are stock on the shelf incorrectly. Item rang up $60 but the stock on the shelf under $30 price tag. No where on the whole 4 ft section was a $60 tag... When showing the manager she said "ohh the ounces are incorrect". Again the whole shelf is full of the item. Manager lea said that a customer put them there. Omg nooooo it's stocked this way. The manager would not make this right, acted as if we are trying to scam them . Their error , but my fault as a customer. Lea said store manager on lunch she then left the floor but never came back. I know these things happen but it was handled so poorly by this "manager". Next step will district / regional manager and Weights & Measures. Not that anything can or will happen but it's just so BS that I'm made to fill I did something wrong so I left without my $200 purchase. read more

I come to this Ulta store solely based on the location, not because I actually enjoy visiting. While the store isn't horribly messy, it isn't clean either. I've come across new items on the shelves that have makeup stains or another product's residue on them. It's difficult to find what you're looking for when the shelves aren't organized, and products are often put back by customers to places where they don't belong. The Ulta app often shows items being in stock that they don't carry (or maybe they do carry them, but the store is so unorganized you can't find them). I came here last weekend looking for a specific brand, & the app said that this location had multiple items from that brand in stock. There were no products to be found by myself or the employees (besides an empty product sleeve of the brand's hairdryer in the clearance section). While you do find a nice/genuine employee every now and then, I don't feel that a lot of them are trained properly in product knowledge or customer service. There have been multiple times I've visited where the cashiers are too busy talking to each other to complete your transaction properly. I've had my returns refunded to the wrong form of payment, wrong coupons applied, and wrong amount of points used. The worst part is that the employees could not care less that they mess up. I've had to contact Ulta's corporate office at least 3 times in the past 8 months to reverse their mistakes. As for product knowledge, if you need recommendations, i wouldn't waste your time. I overheard a customer last weekend asking for a specific brand, to which both employees helping her had no idea what she was talking about & started suggesting other brands (pronouncing the names incorrectly too!). I work in cosmetics, so I went over to help the customer and tell her the information she needed, only to get major stink face from the two employees. My reasoning for giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because it's not the worst Ulta store I've visited, but they definitely need a lot of improvement! read more

I went in tonight about 30 minutes to close with my mom, and my sister. We went there because my mom wanted to pick up a new drugstore brand lip color that she ran out of. I was in the Essence Beauty aisle with both of my family members, when an employee (short in stature, brown hair, blue eyes, hair tied back), with a big attitude yelled down the aisle saying they close soon. We politely say okay we are just about ready to checkout". Keep in mind there was many other people in the store.. I did not hear them get scolded on leaving. Another 5-10 minutes go by & she comes back yelling again down the aisle at us to hurry up. At this point, I'm quite upset. We were aware they closed soon, although I do not appreciate being yelled out for not being ready to checkout yet. No one else was at the checkout line. It was approx. 7:40 at this point. 20 more minutes & the store would be closed. We were aware of. She was trying to kick us out so rudely! Also, she was treating her co-working on register like complete trash, and wasn't even bothering to help the line. I will not ever return here. I live so close; although I like the friendlier employees at the Rocklin Commons location a lot better. I could not stand that young employees attitude. If you aren't closed yet, you don't need to treat customers so rudely. I am a UGC creator & an Ulta Beauty partner who will take my buisness to another Ulta store. We had a bridal party go into the Roseville California location on Thursday, August 25th starting at 9:00am. I had made these appointments on June 7th for 7 of us and told the gal what we were looking for (updo's with braids and buns) and requested the bride be with the best stylist possible, she said no problem! On Friday August 12th I got a call from an associate named Gwyndell she called to confirm and she said she only had four of us booked, even though I had the text message confirmations, she was very rude and when I told her I have the confirmations she told me "well I don't know what to tell you, I only have room for 4 of you" at that point I insisted that the manager call me. When the manager called she was very kind, told me there was 7 of us booked. I once again, explained what styles we are going for and specifically asked that the bride be with the best of the best AGAIN. When the bride and myself got there it was around 10am and 2 of the other girls had gone, their hair wasn't what was expected, but since they weren't in the wedding, the bride didn't care. When the bride started getting her hair done, she was told she was going to be with Gwyndell, I did not like this since gwyndell had already been rude, she should have been taken off of the bridal party. The bride showed Gwyndell what she wanted and Gwyndell said ok. She had attempted to do the braid but wasn't able to complete the task, the bride is very passive so she didn't argue and Gwyndell gave her what I would like to call an "Amish" style. As Michelle was almost finished with my hair she massively burned my neck with the curling iron. Once we were done she told me she was going to put Neosporin on it, she did do this without any gloves and I did not see her wash her hands, however whatever she put on me was not that because it ended up irritating the burn more. This was not ok especially since I was the maid of honor with an irritated burn in the sun. She did not offer me discount or anything for the injury which in my opinion is very unprofessional, and it probably would have at least made me feel a bit better about the whole situation. About 20 minutes after our appointment the first 2 girls and the Brides hair had fallen out of its style. As any woman knows, the bride should never have to go to her own wedding feeling the way she did. We ended up having to find someone to come to the venue to fix her hair and give her what she wanted. Not only did I pay for mine(after being burned and something put on me I was allergic to) I also paid for the brides whose hair style fell out not even an hour having to get it done. $184 dollars to Ulta, then another $300 for an emergency stylist to come fix it. The bride paid $183 for the first 2 girls along with clear hair ties and Bobby pins to re-do her hair. There were 2 more bridesmaids who went after us, their hair styles fell out as well, and the last girl didn't even end up going because she saw what was happening to us. With all of these struggles that happened, it caused us to be late for the wedding, caused way more stress on the bride then there should have been, and wasted countless amounts of our time and money. I am a platinum member and spend a lot of money at Ulta. This makes me want to take my business elsewhere. I know you can't give the bride back her day, but please find a way to make this right.
