Ummm, YES, I do want to recommend this business, Yelp. PARKING: Huge lot that's a shared space with home goods, staples, and other businesses. You will always find parking. PRODUCTS: I love that unlike Sephora, Ulta has cost-effective options in a separate section. Some of the products can be tested, but unfortunately not all. That's my only qualm. PERFUME SELECTION: Ulta in-person only has a select few designer brands (Prada, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, etc) compared to Sephora of which has an entire wall dedicated to every single line of a vast amount of perfume brands. However, I specifically came to test the brands I mentioned above & appreciated the little cup of coffee beans to recalibrate your sense of smell. Recommendations: Prada Paradoxe (lovely packaging & invigorating scent) and Gucci Bloom (one of the most beautiful floral scents I've ever had the joy of experiencing). Honorable mention to Kate Spade New York & Marc Jacobs Daisy Love (my fave scent ever but it just doesn't stay very long). DESIGNER MAKEUP: You'll find the popular designer brands like Tarte and Clinique. Tester items are always stocked & it can't just be me who enjoys having a little "makeover" by sampling products on my bare skin. HAIR CARE: Huge variety of hair products & tools, but unfortunately most hair products don't have an available tester. Unsure why. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Employees will come to you if you look like a lost puppy (it's me, hi, I'm the puppy it's me) but do their own thing & are receptive & friendly to questions about products. ATMOSPHERE: You just feel pretty in here. The lighting is 5000K (lightbulb daylight colour) so makeup will look as if you were outside. Love you Ulta! This review is for Angel! I got my make up done by Angel yesterday afternoon and he is phenomenal. I made a last minute appointment for a wedding I attended and I am happy that I did. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and very, and I mean very professional. The woman who was originally supposed to do my makeup wasn't available which was disappointing at first however I'm glad Angel took over because he was exactly what I needed. I personally like to remain quiet during services. I told him what I wanted and sat there and let him do his thing. I expressed the style of make up I prefer and explained that I was in a rush. He acknowledged that and acted accordingly. I left with a beautiful face that lasted the entire night and gave me the confidence I needed. I appreciated that he consistently asked me if anything needed to be changed. I was satisfied from start to finish. Angel is wonderful and the best make up artist I have had. I was in this store for a good 20-30 minutes looking for blushes. Multiple staff saw me looking through all the blushes all over visibly confused and lost no one absolutely no one asked me if I needed assistance BUT they did ask other costumer that came in after me. Im today's culture makes me wonder if there is more to this...why ask others and not me? And no I didn't ask for help myself because they were busy talking to each other and I didn't feel like interrupting their chat. And if they didn't offer help theu I figured they didn't want to help me so why bother. A week later I returned and behold I was treated differently than others again! This time around tho the cashier was just plain rude. She made both my child and myself uncomfortable. On another note the store is messy the restroom were filthy. They only had 1 tissue box to use, 1! For all the make up aisles. No one in every aisle 1 for all the aisles and scarcely clean testers for testing make up. I recently had a hair cut with Lily . She was very attentive to what kind of style I was looking for but kept checking in to make sure I was happy every step of the way. She is super friendly and easy to talk to. The rest of the staff were also super friendly and complimented my hair cut after. Since I've gotten my haircut from Lily, I have had so many compliments. It is a shorter style than I'm used to but with her style guidance I feel confident in my new style choice. Since when did ulta start hosting kids birthdays?! I went in with my mother to help her pick up some new skincare and makeup products and they had a ton of kids running around screaming like we walked into a daycare! My mother has a bad hip and uses a walker since she is a huge fall risk and she kept having rowdy kids nearly knocking her over. Several birthday posters and snack tables were all over the product sections making it impossible to browse. I was not about to maneuver my elderly mother through a ton of small children and party tables, so we left with several other shoppers. I have never been to an Ulta location that was this chaotic. Not sure if this is a new concept ulta is test running, but it is GOD AWFUL!!!! It would make sense if they had a separate banquet room to host these birthdays, but in a small crowded store is just plain dumb. read more

Do NOT, I mean do NOT, buy any products at Ulta Beauty. The stores have a 60-day return policy that is non-negotiable, even if the product is defective! I'm sorry, but I don't feel that I need to try out my hairspray to make sure the pump works. There is an expectation that the product should work the way it's supposed to. For Ulta to not even allow me to exchange it for another of the same hairspray means they will lose me as a customer for good. There's nothing at Ulta that I can't buy at Amazon or Macy's for cheaper. The store experience is not even worth it at all if they don't care about their well-meaning customers. Came looking here for an advent calendar, the one I wanted was sold out. I enjoy this ulta waaaaay much better than the one near me. Their customer service is superior, the store is more organized. Got myself a perfume (the pink crystal by Versace), 2 lip tints by benefit, and 2 mascaras by benefit as well. The cashier that help me out had the most beautiful purple/lavender hair and her fashion/makeup style were sooooo gorgeous, just like her personality. What a charming lady, she was fantastic. My experience today on the sales floor with JOY (the ladies name that helped me) was over the top. As a former retail leader great customer service means so much. Thank you Joy you truly listened, made helpful recommendations and made a genuine connection. However, my experience at the register was poor. Kristin the manager never smiled. I can tell she would pop into the POS to check maybe segment numbers. But was not concerned with the customers experience in front of her. In addition, when I proceeded to pay with cash, I had to wait uncomfortably for Kristin to come verify the bill. This should be done discretely to not make customers feel uncomfortable. She was also quick to let me know i could not use my coupon unless I had prestige items. Grateful for Joy, and overall my visits are good. read more

Came in to grab a few products I needed and this store was a COMPLETE mess! They were holding a little kids birthday party and all the little kids were running around screaming as well as they had a gigantic banner and cupcake tables covering all the skincare products that I was shopping for. There was absolutely no one in sight to assist me since they were all catering to the children's party. I kept having kids bump into me and knock items out of my hands. care to explain why a stylist would highlight a blonde then do a peekaboo burgundy on already lightened that day hair wet? This happened at the salon yesterday. Fixed at home with a color I didnt want to go to, but at least it doesnt look like this . The blonde is also brassy too. A refund is required and that color is not burgundy. Not even close. this is less than 24 hours after being done and is the least of the damage done.it became obvious that the burgundy was also extremely patchy (didn't reach the roots in multiple places and then bled into other layers that were blonde. read more

I approached her to ask for help in the hair are department , and she just responded with she was helping someone else , gave me a sorry looked and said she would send someone to help. 15 min later , no one. Rhonda, is an amazing beauty advisor at this Ulta, Seal Beach location. Her warm personality shines through, and it is her patience, her love of what she does, her skill to really listen, along with the ability to make me feel like my skin care needs (for a senior citizen) are just as important as that of a younger woman. Now, I may not be able to halt Father Time, but looking good for myself (and I want to also add - looking good to my husband!) is just as impotant to me as when I was in my 20s and decades later. And it feels nice to tell Father Time - to shove it. Oh, sweet vanity! Fortunately, I've always had a good experience at this Ulta, and yesterday, Rhonda added to that with her help. The endless rows of cosmetics brands and colors (be it Prestige brands or not) can be overwhelming at best and all vying to grab our attention and wallet, but with Rhonda's background of understanding skin tones and what happens to our skin as we age, she guided me to find the best undereye concealer, petite make-up sponge, and awesome liquid-waterproof eyeliner.
