I'm very disappointed with my recent purchase from Ulta. The product I received was clearly defective and unusable right out of the package. For a company that sells premium beauty products, I expected much better quality control. Not only was the product damaged, but the experience was frustrating because I had to take extra time to deal with returning or replacing something that should have been checked before being sold. Customers shouldn't have to worry about receiving faulty items when shopping here. As soon as I walked into this establishment, I felt uncomfortable. As I was browsing with my friend, I noticed that people kept popping up around me. I assumed that they were shoppers, but that didn't make sense because there were only like three other customers actively shopping. So, most of those people were employees. They would just walk up and take a few glances and walk away. It just felt off. Don't just stare at me, ask me whatever it is you're required to. I didn't want to mention anything to my friend because I don't want to sound like that black person that always victimizes themselves, but my friend said something about it before I could. This is the only location within reasonable distance from my house so when I have to go to Ulta, I have no choice but to endure an uncomfortable experience. Ultra just reminds me of the "Target" of designers. Like you will find some really good brands and finds but it's target lol The good news is I was always greeted when I come to the previous location and they had a pretty decent selection of brands you know to love. This new location appears to be fully stocked (if not better) with a great selection of brands. It's easier to get to than the other one in my opinion. I wasn't greeted when I came in, but I also wanted to shop around so it worked out. The line moved fast and I was able to get the new items and my pickup order pretty smoothly. The 3 stars is due to my bag smelling like cigarette smoke. I'm assuming someone went on a smoke break and came back and started grabbing items. With me being extremely allergic to cigarette smoke, this disgusted me the most. It smells bad, like a Smokey BBQ. I went to the original location and saw the sign gone and store empty So I said to myself (self) pull up Ulta on your maps maybe it just moved and thank goodness that was the case!! We found Ulta!!!! It's 5mins away from the original location yay!! I had the absolute best customer service!! Tarika was so helpful and very patient with my daughter and myself. Stopped in for leave in conditioner and ended up with eyeshadow:). I didn't get the lady name that assisted me in makeup but she was very helpful. She demonstrated several ways to apply the shadow from natural to dramatic. She also made suggestions of better products. I ended up purchasing the shadow by Smashbox. I have their foundation primer so the shadow should work out fine. The store is always clean and well stocked. There isn't a day or time I've ever been disappointed shopping at Ulta. It never fails I always leave with more than I came in for :). read more

AVOID AT ALL COST. Do not get your make up done by Joi. She states 14 years of experienced but she couldn't do a simple eyeliner look because of MY EYE SHAPE. SHE STATED NO MATTER WHAT LOOK I CHOOSE EYELINER WOULD NOT LOOK GOOD ON MY EYES. She specifically stated hooded eyes cannot wear a super thin eyeliner. Strong recommendation for hair stylist Jamelia. She's amazing- she listened and helped get my hair looking good. Lately for me personally, when going to previous stylist I said wash with flat iron but leave it with body; what I got was hair too flat and no curl/wave/body or bounce until 5-7 days later. I have another appointment in 2 weeks and I'm so excited to see what style we come to for my hair. Today I stopped in to purchase Pattern Beauty's leave-in conditioner ( I purchased the shampoo and conditioner from Pattern's site) after seeing some reviews of it online. I absolutely love Ulta Beauty! I order a lot of items online but nothing beats going inside a location, just to test perfume samples and see whats on sale inside. I was so tempted to buy myself a caboodle-lol. I am a fan of the Ordinary products, they have worked wonders on my skin so its always a pleasure to explore. I walked in to this type of shop for the first time, so I was confused and a little overwhelmed. I roamed around for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out different products myself. Finally I asked someone if I could get some help, for what?, was my answer (not in a polite way) and I said I was changing my whole career lifestyle and needed to change my makeup routine to fit my new environment. The next answer was I can only match skin tone, so what else did you need. So I said thank you and left really never coming back. My girlfriend who advised me to use Ulta was so embarrassed and she told me to go to Sephora. I was injured at this location last month when a Nars display case fell on top of me while I was standing at the check out line. The metal display case left a huge gash down the back of my leg that turned into a dark ugly bruise. I am lucky I didn't end up contracting tetanus. The staff and corporate don't care about the wellbeing of customers that shop in their stores. Their only concern is MONEY. I made several phone calls to corporate and even sent a letter with photos included and I haven't heard anything back from ANYONE yet. The manager of the store even took down my contact info to check up on me and she hasn't called me yet and this happened a month ago. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AT THE WAY I HAVE BEEN TREATED BY THIS COMPANY AND THEIR LACK OF CARE TOWARDS A CUSTOMER WHO WAS INJURED IN THEIR OWN ESTABLISHMENT. This location lacked everything I've come accustomed to, from the actual end result color, severely dried with breakage, minimal scalp massage and when I asked 3 times for several product recommendations I knew I'd hit a dead end. What made me write a review, the price was 30 dollars more than I had just paid 3 months ago. I suspect it was the touch of another color she added to make up for the lack of color in the first place. The only redeeming quality about this store is Kirstin, who has done my brows for years. She is amazing and always goes above in beyond. Other than that, the way the ladies in the salon act when I arrive for my brow appointments every time makes it clear I would never want to get my hair done there, I'd feel like a burden and like they'd talk about me. This is due to the fact that they ignore you when trying to check in, speak in a rude tone or just monotone like they'd rather die, and can't be bothered to smile just to let you know they saw you waiting, nothing. This Ulta falls short in every way. Customer service is bad. Normally when you walk into an Ulta you receive more help than you need or want. At this one you are completely ignored. They seem to be short staffed. I had a hard time finding anyone to help me. When I did flag someone down she spent all of 5 seconds helping me... My biggest problem with this location is that they don't carry Clinique makeup. I came here specifically to buy Clinique so I left with nothing. read more

The manager is walking around in the check out area never offers to jump in an help her staff. So after waiting about 15 minutes an the line getting longer. I finally check out an go to find the manager an let her know they need help an instead of understanding she wants to come at me like I shouldn't have addressed the situation. I told her she didn't have to come at me like that I just know I have been to multiple locations an they normally have people jump into help. I only come here when I don't want to make the drive needed to my nearest Sephora, (which isn't very close to me at all!) Meh. It's a bit of an hit-or-miss with this store. It really depends on who is working there. Sometimes I find someone whose eager to help and give recommendations, other times I just get followed around and ignored when I try to get someone's attention. Like today, I just ran in to get a specific eyeliner, and the benebrows lady was standing in the way, helping a costumer. I excused myself as asked her to hand me the eyeliner, and she did, but not before eyeing me up and down and glaring at me like I just sacrificed a puppy right in front of her. I went in to try and get a few things. I asked one girl, whom was standing around doing nothing, to assist me. She said she couldn't help me. She then told me to go to another area to ask another lady. I did that and the new lady said she couldn't help, and replied with "I'm sorry. I only work in the salon." I then went back to the first girl and she told me to walk to the check out area to get assistance. After reading this, are you as confused as I felt when I was in the store? Not only was the girl too lazy to just assist me or at least walk to the areas to get me help, she then said "I'm a vendor." Being in sales myself, I understand there are different vendors; however, don't just stand around doing nothing. You are a vendor that is also representing the store you are advertising in. Her boss would not be pleased to know that all she did was stand around and not only fail to promote her product, but she also failed to show good customer courtesy to Ulta customers. As for Ulta, this store seemed under-staffed and reflected an attitude that people do not care here. When I finally was able to get help from an Ulta rep, she let me know the product I wanted was out of stock. She did not offer any solutions, such as call another store, online ordering, find out when it will be in stock. I let her know I usually shop at Sephora and I'm trying to switch my business to Ulta.
