I gave her a length and general color scheme I wanted and she helped me pick shades, style,etc and she blew me away with her skills! She cut my hair to the perfect length. I am a 35 F who works a physically and mentally demanding full-time job. I was hoping I could trust the make-up and hair expertise at this salon to make me feel pretty and special on my wedding day (although, i am very much okay with myself enough to not put much store in this kind of stuff...) I don't wear much make-up, and I am working-class, so I was praying the expertise of these people would be able to execute a simple black eye liner look with natural face make-up and a simple two braid hair do with beach waves. I was able to attend a trial for my make-up. I felt very pleased by her execution of the simple face make-up, but asked for a simple and clean black eye liner look for the final look. I was unable to attend the hair trial due to a mistake on my part for scheduling. I came after a long day of work and it just wasn't meant to be. I was assured, though, that she could do the simple braid look and we did not need a trial. On my wedding day, the make-up was done photography ready, not natural at all like the trial--I could care less about photos, I was doing the make up for my husband and wanted it to be natural. The hair was not beach waves but barrel curls, so not to look I was going for, and they fell out any way. If you are a working woman who is trying to do your make-up and hair on a budget--and relying on the expertise here, research and buy all the tools you need to do it yourself. read more

I had literally the worst experience at this location in Destiny USA as well as a location in the Midwest (posting that review later). I was a regular at the brow bar I went to in the Midwest (minus one horrible experience) and had a preferred brow tech. I knew that the experience and resulting look should pretty much always be the same considering they use one set mapping system and mark out the shape...so I had no issues with trying out a location in New York because they all use the same technique. I did a walk-in for a brow mapping and wax on July 26th of this year. I probably should have immediately walked out, because my tech would not stop talking, about anything and everything. She talked about her boyfriend, how she moved up to NY, literally everything while she was waxing and I could tell after she finished that she was paying literally NO attention to what she was doing. She had full conversations with her COWORKERS while I was in her chair - I found that to be pretty rude. At first, the map that she drew on my brows was perfect and I told her I would be happy with this result. I have (had...) thicker eyebrows so I can go thick or thin, I prefer thick which is what she had marked out on my face with a pencil. I told her up front that I've had bad experiences with people waxing my brows too thin, and also told her that my skin is very sensitive and that I need a LOT of aloe afterwards (especially after my last bad experience). After 30 minutes, she was finished and I could have cried. She waxed the tail of my right brow entirely too short, she made the head of my brow thin and the arch extremely thick, and put a thin layer of aloe on. Looking back at the pics, it literally looks like my eyebrows were never even done in the first place or like somebody did it blindfolded - the underside of my arches were messy and patchy because of her over-plucking. I can usually work with a bad wax job, but this had me crying by the time I got home because she payed absolutely no attention to what she was doing and it showed, and I was starting a new job the next week. After a few hours when I realized this would probably permanently mess my eyebrows up, I reached out to Ulta via direct message on Twitter, sending a photo of the right eyebrow to show that she had taken off a quarter of my hair off of my brow. They stated they would send a check to refund me. Big shocker, I never received it. I sent another message in November and got a reply stating they are looking into things. Still haven't received a refund, and guess what? The shape, thickness, and overall look of my eyebrows has definitely been permanently changed. After this and the skin burn I suffered last year, I'm done using Ulta for beauty services. I realize that the customer service isn't really the fault of this local Ulta and instead on the corporate customer service, but ultimately the blame lies on the employee who did this to my eyebrows in the first place. I will have to come back to this review and update it with the picture I took in the hours following the waxing. Editing to add that as of December, the underside of my arches both still are missing small chunks from her over-plucking. I'm thinking this will probably not look better unless I get my brows microbladed. read more

Ulta is a beauty/makeup store that offers stuff that is lower end than Sephora (is also on a lower level in the mall than Sephora) but higher end than drugstores (Target, Walgreens, etc.) though on a Venn diagram it'd definitely have an overlapping circle space in each territory. I love Ulta because they have a plethora of brands like Clinique, Tarte, Benefit, NYX, Loreal, etc. They also always have a sales/clearance section. The back has a salon and haircare products. I am in love with my new NYX Lingerie liquid lipsticks in the colors Seduction & Exotic. Come here if you want more affordable options than Sephora. Also, always Google for a coupon discount code to use at checkout (there is almost always one available- they don't work on already discounted items). read more

I went there to get my hair done after a very bad day. The lady literally fried my hair and my hair is already dry. I made another appointment to see if I could fix the color around but they called and canceled. They never called me back for another appointment! VERY disappointed and will never be going back for my hair again. I would not recommend going to Ulta if you love your hair. read more

Once I decided I was going to rock a red lip, Tiffany came to my rescue after I screwed it all up (I seriously had lipstick everywhere!). Wow, what a nice store! It's huge and like a candy store. It has a salon in the back. The staff is friendly and helpful, unlike the other cosmetics store here. I'm glad this store finally opened here, it was so much needed. It's located downstairs at the outlets. I just moved to the area so was in need of a new hairstylist. I was debating where to go for awhile and then decided to walk-in and try Ulta. I was lucky to have them take me as a walk-in client right away. I had the pleasure of having Ally as my hairstylist and she was the sweetest! She did a great job at cutting my hair and even gave me styling tips. All the ladies working there were so friendly. I highly recommend this salon! read more

Facials by Lucinda are great! She is very educated and explains every single product she is using on you. She suggests special treatments for your skin type to help cure any concerns you may have.
