I was reminded today of why I RARELY shop at Ulta stores and this one was no different. I don't know what it is about this company but I have yet to walk into any Ulta stores and not have at least one bad experience with their customer service/associates. If you read the rest of the reviews for this one in particular, all of the positive feedback is based off customer experience with the salon and it's associates. I haven't used their services so I can't speak for that at this time. My review (along with the rest of the negative reviews) is for the store/employees themselves. After waiting more than 10 minutes in line to pay for my purchases, I tried pulling up one of their coupons and unfortunately I mistakenly managed to pull up the online only one so naturally I tried pulling up the In-Store coupon which wasn't loading. The employee (brunette, long hair, didn't catch her name) was quick to dismiss me and say, that "No, that still isn't applicable to my purchase bc its an online coupon", mind you, not even bothering to wait for it to actually pull up so that I could verify what she was saying. Ended up paying without using the coupon. (Why were you in such a rush to complete the transaction? If you have a long line behind me that continues to grow, that's not my problem - perhaps you should be staffed accordingly to accommodate what seems to be a consistent issue with said long lines/wait times) So I then walk out only for the In-Store coupon to finally pull up which shows that in fact it WAS valid for my purchase. So back in I went. Back to the back of the line with only two employees ringing up customers. I ended up getting the credit I was due, this time with a different associate who was at least pleasant. Management tip on customer service 101: Train your employees to give at least the minimum customer service to your patrons. This includes LISTENING to and not being so quick to respond to and dismiss your customers in the interest of your own convenience. I'll stick to shopping at Sephora from here on out even if I end up paying a little more. At least I know I'm getting what I pay for with their customer service. Just as Macy's is second rate to Nordstrom in terms of customer service, Ulta would rank the same against Sephora. And if I happen to need drug store brand products that I know Ulta also carries, I'll just go back to Target, Wal-mart, or CVS. It'll save me the headache and annoyance of having to deal with these service-inept broads. read more

This is my go-to Ulta location. Taylor is the best!! She always has a smile on her face, gets everyone checked out quickly and knows her products!! Most of the employees that I've met at this location are actually pretty awesome. Keep in mind, it does get busy because is it next to the mall and everyone avoids the Menifee location (because it's horrible). So don't take your frustration out on the workers, just plan ahead if you come during a busy time!! Customer service is important to them, so they do not rush you. Ok. Let me start off by saying this Ulta made an unfortunate situation into a good experience. Tik Tok has ruined my life. I have been looking for my favorite Maybelline Eye eraser concealer EVERYWHERE. Gen Z has wiped out every store in my shade. ULTA online said my shade was in stock! Rushed over. NADA. Asked the lovely and side-note gorgeous Diana at the register (Diane? Sorry!) and she checked in the back. NADA. I asked if they are going to update that on the site- she said yes (Good call...because those Y2K loving kiddos are coming for it!). She offered to order it online and ship it for free to my house. She was courteous, kind, and professional. Her nails are STUNNING and as a newbie to the area, I appreciated her recommendation on where to get them done (ROSE NAILS LADIES!). My favorite store. The only store I come too when I hit makeup or the Paul Mitchell blonde toner . The prices are a little high but the makeup and products are good quality . So don't worry . The service is great and helpful always helping me to see if I need anything or if they can help me find something . They also have a great selection of blow dryers and curlingirons and straighteners . So many different colors and styles to choose from . I really enjoy coming here here and it is highly recommended. MY experience with this store in particular was not favorable. While attempting a return the manager at the time chose to make me wait an unreasonable amount of time, when in fact she knew ahead of time ( she went to the back of the store) the cashier would be needing her to process it. I was happy to see Ulta in our neighborhood however, the attitudes of some of the staff will keep me away. Amongst other things that I apparently can't complain about on yelp. I like being able to run in and grab stuff without having to go into the mall. Having said that I am sooooo sick of the pushy girls at the checkout. If I say "No I do not want to give you my phone number" it means no. Stop asking me! I don't care about the points! And they LIE every time saying you can't return without a membership!! Yes you can! I was beyond impressed with this Ulta store. I'm not even going to waste my time coming to the Menifee location, that is closer to me. The employees at the Temecula location were very friendly. I received a greeting from every employee that was near me. Several employees also asked if I needed help finding anything, which does not happen at the Menifee location (they basically ignore you there). I also loved that they had almost everything in stock. I went into Ulta today and got all of my favorite products! But the best part was being welcomed by such friendly staff, the cashier ( Saraeya ) was very nice and friendly asked if I got everything I needed and I felt comfortable enough with her to ask her what I should use for priming my eyelids for eyeshadow and the best eyebrow products to use since I do often have trouble with those things and she gave me VERY helpful and good recommendations to products!! I used the ones she recommended for me today and I am so happy with the results and will DEFINITELY be coming back! She is such a sweet, friendly, and gorgeous girl!! The girls there (in particular Pam and Saira) help me the same as if I were in a department store, where they get commission (accept actually better). I was there on 6/3/19 around 12:30 to return an item. Because item was over $100 they called a manager to the register to try and sell you something else. I politely declined and manager was rude. For most people going to the makeup store is a way to "treat yourself", relax, and marvel at the latest products. For me however I get completely overwhelmed and frazzled especially if I need to purchase new foundation since I'm so pale and often difficult to match. However today's experience was much different, Crizel greeted me the moment I walked in and answered all of my questions about the different products and made helpful suggestions about what products would benefit my specific skin. She then took the time to color match my sheet paper white skin and made me feel comfortable the whole time. I've never had a better experience and such great and tentative customer service. The store itself deserves 5 stars but I can not say the same for the salon. My daughter went in to get highlights on her dark hair. She knew it would take a couple sessions to get it light but instead she came home with chunky, splotchy ORANGE highlights. There are literally chunks of orange hair that look like they did not even bother to tone. Her roots aren't blended at all so it looks AWFUL. It looks as if the lady took bleach and painted straight down creating a straight line of dark roots and orange hair. She came home in tears scheduling an appointment at another salon to fix her BOTCHED hair. Not even going to bother to ask Ulta salon to fix this terrible job because they might ruin it even more. Ulta needs to do better and find better stylists. Don't waste your money like my daughter did and go to another salon where they actually know how to do highlights. I'm taking 2 stars off, for 3 reasons. #1, just like Christmas shopping last year at the Menifee store, too many items are unmarked. I was able to find enough employees to keep asking them to scan things, item by item, but it is 100% annoying. #2, at 1 p.m. today, the air was not on. It was too warm to enjoy taking my time in there. An employee told me it was the lights. Well? Then turn on the a/c. I would have spent enough to pay the bill for a/c while I shopped. I bought the bare minimum and got out of there. I'll finish Christmas shopping for my mother & nieces, and for foundation/eyeshadow/hairspray for myself at Sephora and Macy's instead of Ulta. It's too bad. It's a pretty store that would be fun to linger in if I wasn't perspiring to death. #3, the line was long and only one register was open, until it was down to one person ahead of me. Someone had some kind of issue that took a pretty long time. The store was not busy, and the floor was well staffed, so how about pulling someone over to a register? I waited soo long. Ok, so it really pains me to only give this place two stars because I love the products sold at Ulta. This place is quite literally the holy grail. My problem isn't with the products, but rather the terrible service I receive every single time I walk in their doors. Before every trip to Ulta, I always have the highest hopes, but I am let down by the employees every time. No one ever bothers to ask if I have questions or need assistance, and most of the time I do. Makeup is somewhat of an investment and I want to make sure that I am making the right choices, but with no one there to help answer my questions or guide me in the right direction, I usually leave the store less than pleased. I shouldn't have to hunt down employees in the store and ask them for their help, the help should be offered upon entrance to the store. Even just a simple "can I help you find anything today?" would be a step up from the complete and utter silence I receive. read more

Love this place. Sure there are times when they are so busy I have had to wait for assistance but when it is my turn I've been given the same attention that others get. I love Ulta. This is a rant about the reusable shopping bags inside the store. I'm in this store at least once a month. The bags are disgusting, smeared with makeup and filthy dirty. Geez they have a washer/dryer in the back. They need to wash them or replace them. Every few minutes an employee walks up asking if I need help or if I need a bag to hold the ONE thing I had in my hand. I think it's an Ulta trend to have poor customer service near the high end makeup. I was looking for a shade and was ignored majority of the time...just like in the Oceanside store. I watched as employees assisted an elderly woman looking for eye makeup, a teenager looking for makeup and a very fair skinned woman looking for her color shade...me? A black woman in workout attire, was ignored...maybe my attire and skin tone is not acceptable in your store? I eventually found what I needed but I think Ulta has run it's course for me. I spend hundreds of dollars each time I come (a minimum of once a month) and yet I'm treated horribly. My 2 star rating is for the very helpful ladies behind the counter, the employee that asked if I needed help while I was standing looking like a ding bat lol and for the gentleman that was helping another woman but stopped to ask if I needed help. But finally I called Ultr Beauty salon they took her in the next day at six clock my wife wanted to go platinum blonde they did a wonderful job beautiful haircut and she was ready for her birthday weekend. I found the ladies at ulta very very helpful and pleasant. They offer a no questions asked return policy if things do not work out which makes it easy to find what you need, I appreciate this kind of buisness policy as with cosmetics finding what works can be a challenge.
