LaMisha at the Benefit counter was ready right on time and greeted me with such a calm, friendly energy. I came for a eye brow, lip and chin wax, and she went way beyond a quick rip‑and‑run. She's delicate and precise, gets every bit of unwanted hair, and uses tweezers so gently when needed. On top of the wax, she added a clay nose treatment and those cooling under‑eye masks, plus a little nose mask to decongest. My skin looked fresh, not angry, and felt like it got reset. Bad experience on Mother's day here at this location. My mom and I were looking for a perfume and trying to find a specific one my mom was looking for. Cam or Kim (whatever the name of the short older curly haired white lady is) goes "oh we don't have that" and walks passed my mom like she's too good to help my mom or even offer additional help. Listen, if you don't like your job, definitely quit. I work customer service and I get it with rude customers, but my mom was just asking a question. The girls in the salon are amazing at what they do! So I went In today for a haircut and got Melissa. I actually wasn't going to book the appointment at first because another reviewer mentioned they had seen Melissa and that it just didn't work out for them. But I'm happy I have her a shot. I thought she did a fantastic job and I love that she concentrates on what she's doing. She knew how to work with my fine thin hair. She did layers that were specific to my hair type and I love that she point cut the layers so it didn't look ll choppy or anything. I want to start by saying Nikki was an amazing help! She made me feel so comfortable man about not knowing makeup and matched me for foundation, concealer, & finishing powder. 10/10. she was helpful and educated me on why those shades were correct. However, as a black woman I already am reserved about shopping in Vacaville because it is predominately white and we are constantly profiled. I was hoping this was different. Sadly, it was not. Though the employees were graceful the security was following me. I was in the store with my aunt casually looking not even testing products. We then noticed a hispanic lady kept walking by and she had on a different color outfit than the other employees. I figure she was security. She asked if we needed help and I said yeah, because I did so I was relieved but then she couldn't even help which confirmed she was security. I tested my theory by walking to the other side of the store and sure enough within seconds she was one aisle over. It's very disheartening as I ended up spending $200 in the store that day and my makeup artist specifically said to go there because it was the best location in Solano. To make matters worse, I never heard the other woman ask anyone else in the store if they needed help. Very sad, but again, thank you Nikki. Shame on the manager or whomever who decided to make the call of us being watched as the only black people in the store. read more

I have never had a bad experience here! First off, I love that I'm greeted by everyone as soon as I walk in. I don't know why, but it makes the experience more enjoyable. This Ulta has such a wide selection of things, and always has new stuff coming in. Sometimes I go in just to window shop. The store is always super clean and tidy. If you need assistance, any of the staff will help you out. They never get rude either, even if you've interrupted what they were doing. The price range varies. Some things are expensive, others are more affordable. They always have deals or sales going on too. In the back of the store is a salon, where I have actually had my hair done before. I came to this location because I did not want to wait for something to come damaged or spilled from an online order. When I entered the store, all the associates were chatting and did not offer a greeting. STRIKE 1. I wanted to find a natural hair product for folks blessed with melanin, but couldn't find it. The associates looked up, but no one offered to help. I walked around the store searching for the item and finally found it tucked in a back corner, not labeled correctly. Why is it always that the "ethnic" beauty products are either locked up or in the back out of the way? STRIKE 2 Once at the register, the associates continued to chat and ignore me. I finally stepped up to the counter and laid my item down. Without greeting me, the blonde associate asked my phone number. I gave it, but commented that I do not have an account as I do not shop their often, but my sister might, so I tried her number. Still nothing. She asked for my number again and I told him, thanks, but no thanks, I would rather just check out and be on my way. She gave me a sideways look and said "Well, just so you know, if you don't sign up, you can't make and exchanges or returns." STRIKE 3 Not only do I know that this isn't true, but the fact that she tried to "scare me" into signing up for something I didn't want was very off putting. I'll just order online next time. Ulta shipped me the wrong item. I drove to the Ulta store in Vacaville, stood in line, and asked to get the correct item. They had the correct item in stock, but couldn't give it to me because it would screw up their inventory??? I had to call customer service - customer service said the item is not in stock in the warehouse and gave me a refund instead. I am literally sitting in the parking lot in front of the Ulta store that has the item I want, but I can't get it exchanged. This is absolutely absurd. We have these things called computers - figure out how to correct a mistake made on your part. It shouldn't matter if the item I want is from the store or your warehouse. So the take home message is people: check your items before you leave the store and better yet, Ulta; instead offering a store credit card, check the customer's items to ensure it is not missing from the original packaging. She was repeatedly requesting someone else to come support me while there were still gossiping and there were approximately 5 staff in the surrounding area not coming to support and they just stood there still talking. Today Nicole, the Clinique consultant, stood out as a reminder why it's great to come into stores and shop versus shopping online or pickup. She is the kindest person , knowledgeable about all the products and sales and personable to top it off. I tried to fill out a survey but I couldn't figure out how to with my emailed receipt. I wanted to make sure I got to share my wonderful interaction though! She was the first one to genuinely check in on me and took the time to explain differences between product and which one may work the best for me based off my own skin type.
