This is a must-read review... long, but worth it. The other night, I sat down and counted how many weddings I've been to in the last 15 years. The total was over four dozen weddings. This year alone, there are six weddings and one of them is my own! One of the first weddings I ever attended was when I was 14 years old, more specifically August 18, 2001. I don't remember much about this wedding since I was so young, except for one thing - the DJ. I remember sitting next to my mom and her telling me that I better get someone as good as this guy for my wedding one day. At that age, you think that you'll get married in just a few short years and live happily ever after so I agreed with her and that was that... now 17 years later... I'm finally happily engaged and ready to make the commitment. Choosing vendors is quite the process during the planning phase. I had already made the decision to use a DJ I had seen earlier this year at another wedding; however, when I called, my wedding date wasn't available for him. I was so bummed and I happened to mention it to my family that weekend and my brother (out of the freaking blue) said, "you should get the DJ from Kristy's wedding." I was shocked that he remembered the same DJ from 17 years ago. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that he could be an option for my own wedding. My brother happens to still be friends with the bride and texted her. She happened to still have her invoice from the DJ in 2001. Come to find out, he happens to still be in business. I called and he happens to have my wedding date available. Oh, and the best part of all, he "happens" to be one of the most sought-after DJ's in Orange County with his 30+ years of experience - DJ Dean Hall of Ultimate Events. The cherry on top is that when my fiancé and I went to visit this DJ that I swore was awesome at a wedding I went to when I was 14 (luckily my fiancé trusts my judgement), we left the meeting and immediately prayed about it and we agreed that if we pick him as our DJ then we would have zero worry about that aspect of our wedding. DJ Dean is one of the friendliest people we met while looking for wedding vendors. He was very personable, helpful, and willing to take the time to answer any questions we had without rushing us. He was also very detailed, we would definitely work with him again for future events. We ended up using on of DJ Dean's photo/video booths, and we're glad we did! We got a lot of pictures and a few videos from our wedding guests, the prop selection was incredible, and he spent time with us to design a custom logo for our photo strips. The Best!! My daughter's graduation party was last weekend and I know people will still be talking about how great the DJ was. Our wedding was 9/26/15 and our DJ was Don. It saddens me to give this review but I looked at Yelp in the first place when I looked for a wedding DJ and all of Ultimate Events reviews were 5 out of 5 stars so I booked a meeting with Dean and was very excited to meet with him. He was the reason why we booked with Ultimate Events. We were in contact with Dean through out the whole process. Then unfortunately 3 weeks before our wedding Dean emailed me and told me Don was our DJ. We immediately contacted Dean back and told him our concerns but he said Don was great. We ended up meeting with Don and he was a very very nice guy. He seemed to get our vision we were going for. I'm a wedding coordinator myself so I had a lot of specific things I wanted and didn't want at my wedding. Unfortunately our DJ didn't go as well as we expected. I'm not sure if Don was nervous or not but introducing our wedding party he fumbled over his words even though I wrote everything down for him. Granted there was 16 in our bridal party so I'm not sure if that was why. There was times where he would talk to our guest and completely turn off the music. I wanted a very interactive DJ because we had a huge mix of people there and there wasn't anything that he did that I felt made all the guest come together and really get in the wedding mood. I was wanting our wedding to be a big dance party once every dance was done. We had a large wedding about 220 guest so when the dancing music was on there was tons of our guest on the dance floor but after about 2-3 songs he would play a slow song and a lot of guest would leave the dance floor. This happened about 2-3 times until I finally had to tell him to please not play slow songs anymore. My mom coordinated with Dean that my family along with my husbands family were going to do a surprise dance for us. I'm not sure if the message wasn't relaid clear enough to Don but it didn't go according to how my mom set it up with Dean. It was still a complete surprise for us and totally fun to see but my mom was disappointed how Don handled it. I will say Don tried his best and was quick to handle a slight power outage for a few minutes that we had. Don was really nice and I know he was trying to make it a flawless night for us. I'm not sure if it's because I attend a lot of wedding during the year because I coordinate them but we were disappointed with our DJ. The overall experience at our wedding was great but I can truly say we probably wouldn't of booked Ultimate Events if we knew Dean was not going to be our DJ. read more

My first impression of Dean was that he really enjoyed what he was doing. His enthusiasm for DJing and making our wedding an amazing day made me feel so much more relaxed. When my husband and I had our first consultation with him he really took the time to get a feeling for what the vibe we where looking for for wedding. He goes over a checklist that covers every option you could possibly want to have for your event. The months leading up to the wedding Dean made sure to keep in contact and see how everything was going. He was never pushy when suggesting add ons for the wedding. If we said no to something he smiled, moved on and didn't bring it up again. He provides lists for you to fill out with all the important information and gives you access to his library of songs to pick from for the big day. He even gave me suggestions for my timeline to make everything run smoother. The day of the wedding came and as my stress level began to rise because of us running late Dean helped to keep me calm. He helped everyone get in their spots and made sure that we got back on track. He made sure when the reception came that my husband and I had drinks and our food. Not only does he make a great DJ, but makes a great day of coordinator. I received so many compliments on how amazing he was and many of my guests told me he was the best DJ they had ever seen and heard. Me and my Fiancé had our appointment back in November around 7:30 pm. Upon entering the consultation office we were welcomed with so much excitement from Dean. He was very outgoing during our meeting and so much energy resonated from him that we were amazed that someone could be so energetic so late in the evening. This is one our deciding points when looking for a DJ is to keep the guests entertained. He has so many ideas that we never even thought of for our Wedding reception. Honestly, I had high hopes for ultimate events but it hurts me to say that they RUINED my wedding. My husband and I are VERY into music so we of course we wanted to hire a dj with amazing reviews and I honestly don't know how they do. I've been to many parties and Stephen was the worst dj I've ever seen. Hiring them was a mistake. We wasted $2,500 and we had to removed an hour from our party and we only got back $150... WTF?! How much do they charge per hour?!? And supposedly they gave us a discount.. DAMN. So they would've charge us MORE?!? Stephen got our wedding party's name wrong. We went over names, and places minutes before and he still messed up. I had given him a party playlist and didn't even play songs from it. I personally went up to him and told him to start playing songs from my playlist and he didn't. So the maid of honor went and told him the same thing, still didn't listen. Another bridesmaid went and told him I wanted him to play songs from the playlist, again didn't listen. Then I sent over the best man...HE STILL DIDNT LISTEN so finally my husband went and demanded him and he finally listened. It was fucking ridiculous. We paid over $2,000 for him to play shit We didn't even like. Even our family hated the dj. Before he introduced us as the bride and groom, idk wtf he was trying to do but tried to divide our family up by saying "cheer for team Jeff" and "who is team Maria!?" Like WTF? We JUST got married..we are ONE TEAM. Our wedding was in December and every time we see our family members they talk about how disgusted they were by the dj and how much Stephen sucked. I'm honestly so shocked and disappointed. The one thing my husband and I cared about besides getting married was the music and ultimate failed us. Like I said, idk how they have great reviews because our experience was anything but great. I would have much rather just plugged in my phone to an aux cord. Would've saved me a shit ton of money that my husband and I could've used for our honeymoon. read more

Thank you yelp reviewers for helping me choose Dean as my DJ because that was seriously one of the best decision that I made for my wedding! All of our wedding guests spoke nothing but amazing things about him and everyone loved the games! Our party guests weren't really the dancing kind of group so the games were perfect to keep our guests entertained and involved as well. Dean was not only our DJ but also helped us coordinate the whole night. He will set up a final meeting with to finalize everything and he basically created the whole timeline for the night and was very very detailed about everything. Hiring Dean to DJ our wedding a few weeks ago was the BEST DECISION! Our wedding was SO_MUCH_FUN. I have never been to such a fun wedding, and I know I sound biased since I was the bride, but I have also never sought out a bride and groom at a wedding to tell them, "THIS IS THE BEST WEDDING I HAVE EVER BEEN TO" and by the end of the night my husband and I lost track of how many people had told us that. At the beginning of our wedding planning process, my husband and I sat down and tried to prioritize what was most important to us about our wedding day. We both agreed that the most important thing to us was for our guests to have a really fun time. We made that our number one goal, and then hashed out our budget accordingly. If having the most fun wedding ever is part of your wedding day vision, hiring Dean has to be a given. Our wedding was FLAWLESS from the ceremony music, to the toasts, to the GAMES (my face hurt from laughing so hard), to the card time capsules (best idea ever - thank you Dean!), to the spotlight dances, to the dance floor. He even checked in to make sure ALL was rolling along and if there were any changes, he was VERY flexible and made it all work out wonderfully!!
