I had a Seattle Collaborative/Saratoga Orchestra Concert on Whidbey Island, and so a few fellow musicians decided that we would hit up Ultra House Ramen. It was a suggestion from the concertmaster and principal violist. I am glad that we had taken their advice because the Gyoza Vegetarian and the Creamy Vegan Ramen was a sweet symphony of taste in my mouth! The 6 piece Gyoza had a light crispy texture at the bottom of this dumpling, and the dough texture was prepared to perfection. The Creamy Vegan blew my mind with so many amazing ingredients. It contained veg broth, veg tare, black garlic oil, fried tofu, spinach, corn, bok choy, menma, bean sprouts, shiitake, nori, shoga, scallions, sesame seeds, and the yummy Kale Noodle! I'm from LA and have eaten many bowls of ramen over the years, and it's my favorite dish whenever anyone asks to plan a casual lunch or dinner to gather--it's always, let's go out for ramen! Found this gem on our day trip to Whidbey island. We were finally eating out after months! They have limited outdoor seating. There were about 4 tables of 2. All tables were occupied immediately after they opened. We also saw people waiting, just tells you how good the food will be. We got their pork gyoza, my husband got their signature tonkatsu ramen and I got the spicy miso ramen. The food did not disappoint at all! Both broths were amazing! I liked my miso one more than the signature one but both were so hearty, smoky, creamy just wonderful. The gyoza wrapper was perfectly crisp and the filling was very flavorful, highly recommend it. It comes with a yuzu and chili paste but I found it too fragrant. The ramen is perfect, they also give you an assortment of aromatics, soy sauce, sesame oil, spicy la yu oil and some chili powders. We love our spice and loaded our ramens with the chili powder to add even more spice. We left so satisfied, the weather was perfect for a piping hot bowl of ramen! 10/10 family dining experience here today. Delicious food, above and beyond service, and a fun, unique environment. First off, this restaurant has been buzzing with people every time we've walked past, daytime or evening. I'm so glad we decided to try it tonight. The co-owner, Cherub, is truly wonderful. We came in with my 3 year old daughter, and Cherub immediately whisked us to the perfect table, right next to a completely stocked children's play kitchen area. Booster seats, coloring gear, child starter chopsticks, and books appeared in an instant- way more thoughtful offerings than we could have ever expected. Cherub was so sweet and engaging with my daughter, and helped us with the perfect order. Tan tan shrimp ramen and the chicken ramen were both fresh, savory and beautifully presented. The kids meal was also great and includes seaweed snacks, 100% organic fruit juice, and a well portioned bowl of ramen. Vegetable gyozas are also a must order. I wish we visited Langley more often because we would be happy eating here frequently. Last thing to note: in a world where most restaurants are struggling to hire and retain great servers and kitchen crew, Ultra was fully staffed with people that appeared happy to be at work. Hands down the best Ramen in Washington! The broth was extremely flavorful. Available seating is limited due to COVID-19, however there is still an outside seating area. Delicious! Dined here with my husband during a fun getaway, and it was our favorite meal of our 4-day stay in Langley. I was a little worried that hubby wouldn't care for the food, as it's a little out of his comfort zone. Visited during our spring break excursion. The place is tucked into a little brownstone village in Langley. Lovely ramen, super authentic! The shop is packed full of fun items and they offer outside seating. Our server Holten? Holden? was sincere and enthusiastic and fun to converse with. Food is amazing. I haven't had every ramen available but the Ultra House Ramen has to be one of the best around. The staff is service oriented and overall experience was great. Only down side is the wait to find a spot was a little long. Worth it if you want good food. I had the Tonkotsu, tried the spicy and a tofu one as well. The Tonkotsu and Spicy were both yummy. This place is legit. It's owned and run by a husband (born in Japan) and wife. Service was super friendly and everything was explained above and beyond. I've had Daikokuya in Los Angeles several times and ramen in Seattle. Ultra House can stand up to any bowl of ramen I've had. If you're on Whidbey island it's a must stop. Interesting find on the Whidbey island. The vegetarian ramen is probably the best veggie ramen I've ever had. Our group also tried the tonkotsu and tori ramen. Tori ramen eater thought it was the best chicken ramen in Washington. I appreciate that the egg is actually hard boiled and not the soft boiled egg that seems to popular here in Denver. Unfortunately, because our tonkotsu eater lives in Japan for years the tonkotsu ramen was not the best he'd had. The wait was pretty long even at 1:30pm. The food took a little long to arrive. A true hidden gem. I took my wife and 3 year old kid to Ultra House for lunch today and was blown away. The food was excellent. The atmosphere so cool (I lived in Japan for years as a military brat and the place has all the candies and treats I grew up eating available on top of their regular food menu). It was good, I've definitely had better ramen but it was still good. Kinda on the pricey side, around $15 for a bowl without extras. The restaurant was cute, very compact but it gives it a cozy feel. The service was some of the worst services I have ever experienced. Visited all the way from hawaii and was sooo excited to try it. The waiter was nasty from the very beginning. My companion and I were trying not to laugh because the service was so horrible we weren't sure if it was a joke. The older woman who was our waiter acted as if she didn't want us there, even though we were one of two tables dining. I can't even explain how horrible the service was. We waited an hour and a half to dine here and as someone who almost always tips 100% of the meal price if not more (because I believe customer service workers should be paid fairly) I only tipped 10%. The food was delicious but not worth it to have to deal with those nasty, unwelcoming, jaded, horrendous, hate filled, disgruntled people. The place is such a GEM!!! My boyfriend and I came here from Everett for date night because of the reviews they were getting and after eating there we are true believers. The owner was so nice the atmosphere is really chill easy going it's a cute place I love the decor and snacks they had at the front counter everything was perfect. I m usually very picky about ramen but this place definitely exceeded my expectations you could tell there was so much love put into every bowl they prepared. We were going to take my brother in law to dinner and the three of us were seated at a communal table for 6. We started looking at the menu when I overheard a group come in looking for a table for 5 - they were told it was going to be 50 minutes. I had seen a table for 3 outside and went over to the woman who was speaking with the host and said there's a table for three outside - we can give up our table so that you can be seated earlier. She thanked us and the host then mentioned - that table for 3 is not our table so we can't serve you so you'll have to order it to go and pick up yourselves. And they were still going to charge us the to go fee when we'd just given up our table out of kindness. At that point I gathered up the menus and handed them back to the host and said I guess we're not eating at Ultra House tonight. So I guess I'll never know what $20 ramen tastes like, although it looks pretty much like what we make for lunch at home - which is awesome. My husband and I popped in here at lunch time and saw so many happy people eating delicious ramen, we grabbed a to go menu and looked it over during the afternoon deciding we would come back for dinner. GOOD CHOICE! It was a very delightful experience from being greeted in Japanese, being served at the bar, and conversing with the owner who was making our gyoza and ramen right there. Delicious flavors and the best crisp on a gyoza I've ever had. Ramen was perfectly sized and just the right amount of seasoning (black garlic oil YUM). Ramen. Ramen done well is a masterful explosion of flavor in your mouth. And Ultra House does ramen really well. Some shops have too salty, or too watery of broths. Not Ultra House, their broth was perfectly creamy with just the right amount of seasoning to make you want to slurp up every last drop of broth. Amazing ramen! I'm glad I came here for lunch instead of the pizza place up the block (those were the only two options midweek during the week that kids are back in school). At first I had to wait a half hour because it was incredibly busy being one of the only two open restaurants in the town at the time. They texted me when they had a spot for me and I had the Tan Tan Shrimp ramen bowl. So flavorful and full of umami! The only two things I would change if I could would be for it to have a full egg instead of a half, and some extra seaweed sheets would be nice. Probably the most disappointing part of the experience was hearing noises from rambunctious misbehaved kids, but the parents are to blame for that, not the restaurant!
