The egg rolls had great flavor and as part of the family dinner option everyone got a choice of soup, which I liked. The owner is so sweet. She stopped by, greeted our table, and was also our server. Went in today (12/31/24) with my husband and daughter. There were two customers at one table when we arrived. No other customers. We were seated quickly. Sat at our table for many minutes.... Waitress came finally to take our drink orders. Then disappeared again. After about 20 total minutes and still no drinks, we left. I want to start off by saying China Harbor gets 2 stars because they are extremely overpriced for what you get. My husband got me teriyaki chicken because I was exhausted from a trip, and needed something I could stretch throughout the day. The dish was $18!! I'd be okay if it was as packed as they presented it but they overwhelm the chicken and cabbage with so much sauce that it looks like it's crazy full. I never thought I'd say there's a limit on sauce, but they found it. The pictures show exactly what I'm talking about. The photos speak for themselves, for the price paid it should not be an upcharge to have rice. I also think it's dirty on their end to call that "extra chicken". I get this dish at Mai Thai for $13 and it' comes with broccoli and rice, and not overwhelmingly covered in sauce. This was not what I expected after so many good reviews, and coworkers saying it's top notch. The sesame balls were delicious however, and I would order again, but I don't think I'd order a meal again from there. read more

I enjoy the food and service of China Harbor. It makes me sad though whenever I drive by, to see the dated broken sign advertising the restaurant. Anyone not having dined there might have second thoughts about going in, or even ordering from them. Please update the signage. read more

Was feeling under the weather and craving some mellow soup. Wonton soup came to mind, which I don't usually order because it is so simple: broth and boiled dumplings. This place blew that expectation out of the water! Their wonton soup included carrots, broccoli, and Chinese style bbq pork! The broth was fatty and succulent. My husband and I came for lunch on a Saturday. We ordered the lunch combos for $10.99. My husband ordered a soda but it was served flat. My water came without ice in it, and lukewarm. Our combos came with soup, appetizer and white or fried rice. I got the egg flower soup, pork fried rice, egg roll and orange chicken. My husband ordered the won ton soup ( which is $1 extra) the pork fried rice, crab Rangoon and the General Tso chicken. Both soups were very flavorful and good. The entrees both came with a thick sweet sauce on them and tasted very similar. My eggroll was not good, very bland. The crab Rangoon was okay. The fried rice was also ok, nothing to write home about. In all, the serving sizes were adequate and I had food left over. The prices were pretty standard. The restaurant was largely in disrepair, the ladies restroom had 4 stalls but 3 had "out of order" signs on them. The lobby appeared to have a fountain but it was not working. The booths had cracked upholstery. The waitress was friendly and trying to drum up business by sending home menus. We let her know we are from out of town so didn't want them. read more

As I walk in with my sister, we are immediately greated and seated. The host is super friendly and she is very interactive. Not too busy to hold a decent conversation. And let's talk about the ambience and music. Classic lounge jazz playing with mood lighting setting the environment. Definitely a place to take a first date if you want to impress. I recommend coming here. The food is absolutely delicious! Can't say it enough. I've had Chinese food elsewhere in Oak Harbor and it doesn't compare. I grew up in a restaurant and have learned to appreciate flavors of the world. Each dish we ordered was super flavorful, not bland, and the vegetarian fried rice had only fresh vegetables in it and not the frozen kid typically found in these dishes. We stopped by here for happy hour. I think this place is more of a front for takeout. The bar looked like we were the first ones to actually use it in a very long time. It was even cold. We got pot stickers and barbecue pork. The food was decent but not better than supermarket Chinese food or something you could get out of a frozen food isle. The drinks were good and the mixed drinks strong. But overall mediocre food, cold uninviting interior and overpriced drinks means we won't add this as a potential future location. read more

The owners are wonderful! She never forgets what you order and will make recommendations to possibly switch it up. Hot and Sour has full body flavor, which I enjoy. I do get the Mongolian Beef special and order Honey Walnut Prawns as my savory dish. This ensure I will be able to take some home too for another meal. Very happy with our recent takeout order. I called around 430, and spoke to an extremely nice and helpful person. I was so glad delivery was so easy, I had considered door dash or one of those services but much preferred the ease of calling in my order and having it at my doorstep just minutes later. The food was a huge hit! We tried chow mein noodles (veggie) and Mongolian beef with a side of steamed rice. Everything was well cooked and tasted fresh. The Mongolian beef sauce was soooo tasty! I am used to other restaurants in town, and this is my new favorite. Perfect glass noodles, I requested medium spice level and it was perfect! This was an incredibly huge surprise success! My family has lived in Oak Harbor since 2000, and we have very much enjoyed the great selection of Asian restaurants in town. China Harbor has been pretty low on the list of rotating places, in fact we haven't eaten there in at least 10 years. No reason for that except our family preferred the Mongolian beef from China City all those years ago, and with great Thai, sushi, Korean, and ramen places for takeout we just don't eat out often enough to get tired of the old favorites and reach CH in the rotation. Enter 2020!!! So with the prices going WAY up at our previous favorites, a couple faves actually closing, and a family goal of getting takeout more often to support our local restaurants...it was finally China harbors turn again. Quaint little brick eatery. Food is fast and hot, always tasty. We have found it is always better to spend a little extra and order individual entree's than a family style meal. IE: We once ordered a family style meal for two and with door dash it came to nearly 70.00 but had 1/3 the bulk of food as 4 individual entrees do for less money. To further that point i can get an individual Sweet and sour pork that fills a full container, or in the family meal for two we got only 9 pieces of chicken. The food here though is excellent. I can personally recommend the House Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, Mongolian Beef and Almond Fried chicken for how flavorful those dishes are here. read more

My absolute favorite is the Bacon Thai basil Fried rice! Also check in and see what the Chef has on special. My husband had Orange Chicken which was SO good, and then we also had Chicken Fried rice, lumpia, and coconut shrimp. All was SO good. We ordered here for the first time this past weekend and the food was delicious. We were greeted by the owners and they were by far the best at communication and customer service. We ordered edamame, won ton soup and wow the soup was rich in flavor and they give you a lot of edamame - Our meals were Kung Pao ToFu, Shrimp Pansit and Teriyaki chicken All 3 shared by 3 of us - the meals were great! They don't serve big portions but it was enough for the 3 of us. I do look forward to coming back here. read more

I am in quarantine because I am at high risk due to age and health. A dear friend wanted to surprise me and see my face. So she brought a chair and little table with her and sat on my lawn outside my window. She wanted us to have dinner together, my choice. Chinese sounded so good, so I called China City. I AM SO GLAD THEY DIDN'T ANSWER! China Harbor is now my new go to Chinese place. They did no contact curbside service. The food was hot, right on time and plentiful. The Mongolian beef is the best I have ever eaten. My daughter wanted to drink the sauce in the lemon chicken, it was sweet, zesty and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Great food at a great price, but portions are not your typical "family style" portions. They're a bit smaller. My only complaint is that on a day when it's 32 degrees outside, I'd hope to come in to a warm and comfortable restaurant. The heater was off which made it kind of uncomfortable.
