Came in on a non-busy time @ 5 pm and it was not busy at all. I ordered ramen and it came in like 5 minutes so fast. My father in law wanted to try this spot for awhile so we had lunch. We ordered some chicken karage & edamame as an appetizer. I thought it was tasty & it was very fresh & hot. The edamame is served hot as well with a sprinkling of salt. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and added bamboo shoots to it. It comes with bean sprouts, corn, tender bits of simmered pork, half of a seasoned egg and green onions. You also get to choose your spice level, I only ordered mild & it was plenty for me. My husband got the spicy tan tan ramen which had a nice rich & creamy broth flavored with sesame paste, My father in law got the Black Garlic Ramen salt based broth, a slice of the pork belly chashu, 1/2 of a seasoned egg, bean sprouts, green onions, fried onions & black garlic oil. Their noodle texture is soft with a slight chew. Our servers were attentive, we spilled a full cup of hot water & they were at our table with a roll of paper towels immediately. Craving ramen while on our vacation in Seattle, we decided to try this recommendation from Yelp and we weren't disappointed. Ambiance was cozy - pretty small inside with only a few tables (the rest were counter / "bar" style), but we were lucky to get a seat quickly. Service was friendly. The waitress explained the different types of ramen/broth as well as which ones were most popular (FYI it is R4 - Spicy Miso Tonkotsu, R5 - Arashi Ramen, and R6 - Black Garlic Ramen). We opted for R4, two orders of R5, and R2 - Shoyu Tonkotsu. All were great! The tonkotsu broths were creamy and satisfying. The charsiu was tasty. Fantastic food here, everything tasted exactly as i wanted plus more. Ramen prices are within industry pricing, so not excessive. Side dish of Honey Garlic Karrage was freshly prepared and very juicy. Came with a side salad and the dressing was super flavorful. Arashi has been my favorite ramen spot since the day they opened their doors in Ballard nearly a decade ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the cozy atmosphere (I'm glad they haven't expanded their seating), their food is outstanding, and I've never experienced poor service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only downsides to this place are parking, which can be challenging, and the fact that there is ALWAYS a waiting line to be seated ... Very good ramen, in a cozy izakaya style setting. Arashi Ramen does some good work! I've had their miso tonkotsu, and their spicy miso tonkotsu. Both are very good, although I'd have to say the spicy miso is my preferred bowl here. The broth is quite delicious and more some, it'll have you craving sips between slurps of noodles. The marinated chopped chashu is tender and flavorful, and the small bits of fat melt in your mouth. Overall, a very solid bowl of ramen. My only nitpick is that you only get half a soft boiled egg, unless you order an add-on egg. But I have a bit of a weak spot for ramen eggs to begin with. I also usually order their takoyaki. It is very good! Crispy on the outside, creamy and soft on the inside, and the octopus is so tender! It is also well seasoned and well sauced, without going overboard. Really good takoyaki. They have a few street parking spots beside the restaurant, and pay parking around the corner behind it that is pretty reasonable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is quite small, with a window counter, a wall counter, which are equipped with small plastic stools, and a few short tables, (stools on one side, a long bench on the other).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do crazy business though, so you might have to wait a bit depending on time of day and what day. Seattle has so many ramen options it's hard to go wrong but I'd heard good things about this place so I made a trip to Ballard to check it out. There was a little wait but we were seated without having to wait too long. The place isn't that big and it has just humble basic seating. They have so many different options of ramen that can please anyone's palate including veggie and cold option (but really why would you get a cold ramen?!?!) I love my spice so I went with the spicy miso. It hit the spot for these cold weather days we've been having and and I'm not a fan of corn (unless on the cob) so I had that removed. I always recommend getting takoyaki any place that has it and they do! Great chunks of octopus and heavy on the bonito flakes. Their menu has other non ramen options too if one desires. read more

I haven't had the chance to try out many ramen spots in Seattle yet, but this place kept on being highly rated and recommended to me and so I finally decided to try it out! Located in Ballard, Arashi Ramen can be a difficult spot to get to due to the lack of parking available. It's basically only street parking and it's in a very busy part of Ballard, so it definitely took us some time trying to find a spot. We went there for dinner on Thursday night and didn't have to wait at all! Inside is small and cozy with some spots available on the bar side and other smaller tables around the room. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're trying to host a large gathering, but a small group is just fine! When we got there, the server immediately greeted us and sat us down. They were pretty attentive, making sure we never really had to wait to take our order or clear our table. The food also came out extremely fast! We ended up ordering the shoyu tonkatsu and the black garlic tonkatsu ramens for the two of us. Portion sizes are pretty generous, but just eating the ramen left us satisfied but not too full (which is probably for the best). The black garlic tonkatsu was really solid and they didn't skimp out on the black garlic at all! I liked the texture of the thin noodle ramen as well. I will say that there wasn't anything special about this dish that made it stand out to me that much, but if you're looking for a solid ramen this is the one! My boyfriend got the shoyu tonkatsu, and originally we thought that it would be the creamy broth due to it having "tonkatsu" in its name, but alas it wasn't creamy. Regardless, it was still a solid bowl of ramen that would satisfy any craving. Overall, Arashi Ramen was a solid place to check out in Ballard if that's what you're looking for! The interior is quite small, but seats were readily available when we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. We really enjoyed the counter seating by their window. Absolutely amazing ramen. I just wish they were more flexible with their ingredients. I wish places let customers know when they only serve pork at a choice of meat. So many ramen spots offer alternative meat options such as chicken or beef. Long story short, my food was amazing, but my stomach often disagrees with pork and this day was not an exception. The inside is small, not uncommon for a ramen bar. I enjoyed the simple and traditional decor. As with many ramen spots in the area, it's Iioe they make sure they make it unique. Even though many of the ingredients are the same, every place and dish and flavor has been unique. I cant remember the flavor I had last time, but it was rich enough to save the second half for later. I the all the noodles and used the remaining broth for a left over surprise. It worked out amazing. lol. Full of flavor and unique. Probably a lot of egg. I don't know if I'll be back due to only having pork options. Not their fault. Doesn't make their food any less. Usually veggie ramen is a bit hit or miss but this is probably my second favorite veggie ramen in the city and favorite creamy broth veggie ramen. It is ramen season! We came by after walking past a couple nights ago. It's a small, intimate space with bar seating and a handful of tables. I wouldn't recommend more than 2 people per party unless you're willing to wait for some tables to open up for more seating. They said it was a 45 min wait, but for a party of 2 but it was closer to 20/30 min. This was a Friday night around 6:30pm. They had a couple vegetarian options for ramen. I chose the creamy one with thin noodles. It was exactly what I was hoping for and very tasty. Staff were attentive and friendly.
